Their elementary school celebrates Buffalo Bills team every Friday during the football season. Why buy brand new when you can find almost for significantly less money! The men's department yielded up a dozen brand new basketball shorts with the tag still on for only $4.99. We grabbed a good handful of those. All in all another, very successful trip to the Amvets Thrift Store.

I'm writing about ALL their locations:…read more Buffalo location - it's near the art store named Hyatt's and is the biggest AMVETS I've been too. Lots of selection but prices were high. It also smelled dirty like all amvets do but it also smelled like weed too. I left with nothing and wasn't sad about it either. The people were nice and let you shop, but maybe it's cause of the weed smell, who knows. I was there once and won't be back due to travel distance. West Seneca Location - they have a nice assortment of stuff but it always smells dirty and the floors are dirty. You come out smelling like the store. I hate going in it but my mom likes to thrift. I only donate items. I typically haven't had any issue with donating to this location. The old man with the long hair is REALLY NICE! He's the nicest employee across all their locations. Deal with him only if you go inside. He will let you take the tote out to your car for donation items to bring in. My mom has never had an issue donating here either - he always lets us take the tote. Last time I tried to donate, he was there and said i could take the tote as i always ask. Well, last time when i did that, a younger employee came out and caught me midway taking it to my car and told me i couldn't take the tote because they're very expensive and apparently the policy is it remains in the store and you have to bring your items in and place them in the tote. I told him the long haired man said it was okay and that I've never had issues, and that i had heavy items and needed help getting them in. Nothing i said mattered to him. He did NOT offer to help me and ended up taking the empty tote inside before i could get my stuff into it. I should have left but i honestly wanted to get rid of my items, so i chose to donate. They have the heaviest of doors and they never leave them open. It took me several trips to get my items inside. The long haired man saw me making the trips and asked why i didn't take the tote. I told him what had happened, and he shook his head. The long haired man ended up helping me. I never went back after that experience. I will NOT be donating to AMVETS anymore. Cheektowaga location: This is the location my mom likes to visit the most. This one smells dirty as well, floors are dirty and you come out smelling dirty. For donating items, you have to pull up in the back of the building. You have to bring your items to the door and they do NOT help you. There's no totes either. I went to donate in November or December of 2025. They don't salt or clear a pathway to the door so it's easy to slip/fall on their property and maybe that's what they are waiting for lol. Thankfully i didn't fall, but i nearly did. An adult and her small child were waiting at the door to take my things. The adult was on her phone the WHOLE time! The adult NEVER helped take my stuff. She had her small daughter take everything! The daughter looked like she was maybe 5 years old max age. 3-5 years old. The adult was barefoot! The adult at least had a jacket on at the door but the child didn't have a jacket on, not even a sweatshirt and she was the one taking my items. I even offered to help take them inside because i couldn't believe what i was seeing. I even asked numerous times if the lil girl 'had it' and 'do you need help?' loud enough for her mom to hear me. I felt so bad, this lil girl was doing everything while her parent was too busy on her phone. The parent never looked up! I feel so bad for this child. We've donated lots in the past and never encountered this! Based on this experience, I've never donated again. I will not go back to AMVETS nor donate. We've instead been donating to other places that act more professionally and actually help you and they don't smell!

These ladies have become FAMILY to my kids and I! Seriously. They always have MOREEEE then fair…read morepricing and a very crazy, and insanely lucky selection! I am not exaggerating when I say every single article of clothing my kids have is from here. They have daily sales and are very helpful. My mom passed a little over a year and a half ago, and these ladies have become a sense of comfort for me and my family. These gals help with anything from explaining daily household items and their uses, to helping calm and entertain my kiddos while mommy can look and find the incredible deals I do! After the pandemic I really got into buying and selling vintage decor - and I'll never forget, one of my first estate sale escapades after starting that venture, I came across the guys from Queen City Vintage. They told us they had been there to sign up for the sale at 6am, and had thoroughly swept up most of the sweet vintage Buffalo Bills gear at that sale. This included things like pullovers, hats, and some other merch. After hearing what they spent, and what they sold the stuff for, I had to admit I was thoroughly impressed. The amount of dedication they have to obtaining these items to sell is seriously admirable. It honestly inspired me to go far with my own buying and selling. Flash forward to a few weeks ago, I visited the store for the very first time. They were having a huge vintage Buffalo Bills sale at the shop in honor of the home opener. I was the first person in line, getting there at about 8am to wait until 11am for the shop to open. One of the guys asks me what I had come to the store to shop for, and I told them about the vintage Tweety Bird pullover that they'd posted on their Instagram a few days before, something I'd been looking for for a very long time (in honor of the one my mother once owned). They promised to make sure the one I wanted was on the rack for me when they finally opened the store. More respect earned. So yeah, these guys are genuinely fantastic. Their selection of vintage items (not just Bills) is pretty incredible, and all of their stuff is in such awesome condition that it's all basically deadstock. I totally recommend visiting their shop at least once, and following them on social media, as they're always posting stuff online too that typically sells out before they can even put them on the shelves at the store. And yes, I am thoroughly enjoying my Bills Tweety pullover as I write this. And my vintage Zubaz. Go Bills!

Toys for young and old, things to get creative and make other things with and guess what????? IT's RECYLCLING! It's environmentally friendly. Some people cannot bear the thought of buying used clothes but did you know that if you want a book to read you can get a paperback for a quarter or a hardcover for a dollar? Things out of print, ideas, music, ornaments, art, you name it is is in here at one time or another. Once upon a time the people of the earth used to consume or toss away good items into the trash but now..... the only thing that limits what you can use from this store is your imagination. I used to work for another location in the city and cannot call them a kind or generous employer, in fact there, they really stink in that department but the second hand offereings on pennies for a dollar are just waiting there to be discovered. It seems the Serendipity Shoppe must have relocated since the reviews of a few years ago…read more Serendipity is not in the Blackrock area. It is located within the First Presbyterian Church at the corner of Wadsworth and Pennsylvania. The entrance is on Wadsworth, but there is parking available via a driveway on Pennsylvania. Additionally, there is handicap access available. If needed, call from the parking lot and one of the volunteers will come to escort you to the code-required elevator. Okay. Now that we know where Serendipity can be found, what can we expect within? At least one serendipitous find. For instance, last Saturday my daughter, just prior to attending a graduation party, found a graduation card there, obviating the need to stop again to buy a card. That could not have been more serendipitous. Okay, okay. Imagine a thrift store and an antique store got married and had a baby. Serendipity? But, of course. You won't find clothing, as a rule. Not saying never, but Amvets and Buffalo City Mission have clothes. At Serendipity you will find collectibles of myriad types, books, jewelry, lamps, dinnerware, pottery, home décor, eclectic gifts. Perhaps a hat. Possibly a shawl. Books are nicely shelved and categorized. Every other thrift store I have been in could take a lesson. I had planned to return and take some interior photos before reviewing; seeing as the location seemed to be in question from past reviews, however, I decided to post now, make the location clear, and return at some later date with more photos.
