This was my first time at an AmVets. It's pretty similar to other large thrift stores I've been…read moreto...but a little better. The aisles are nicely spaced, so you don't feel crowded or rushed. Everything was pretty well organized and fairly tidy for a thrift store. It was a Sunday and there weren't very many customers. They have a massive amount of clothing, but this time we were there for housewares and whatever else fun we could find for our apartment. The dish and glassware section is quite large and I'll need to go back with a specific plan to make proper use of it. Until then, I found a few things we still needed (having recently relocated from across the country with only a sedan full of stuff)... -2 quart Revere Ware saucepan for $6.98, lightweight and durable. -Pyrex measuring cup for $2.49. -white glass bud vase for 49 cents. -old aluminum ice trays to use in desk organizing for 99 cents. I will say, some of the pricing seems a little off. And unfortunately, a cute little ceramic dish I had found didn't make it into my bag at checkout. Overall, I was pretty happy with the store and will definitely be going back with a plan and more time. They have a location closer to me that I'll be checking out soon, too.

Came on a holiday. On a Monday midday. It was buzzing. People coming in and out. Good solid…read moreatmosphere. None of the workers talked to us until we asked them a question and then they offered us their thoughts on our outfits and was much more visible and approachable. There's a really good selection here. The men's section is pretty much two-three racks. Which was disappointing. There's a ton of quality options and even better when you come during one of their sales. Came during their pink and blue sale. 50% and 30% off of their clothes. There's boots, hats, jeans, dresses, jumpers, night gowns, slits, lingerie, jackets, jewlery and more. A lot of cute things. There's about 5 different rooms for you wander around. Fitting room is in the back of the store. There's 4 I believe. There wasn't a great range of sizes. The entrance is hidden however. You need to walk down a semi ally to get to the store. I didn't see any signs on the street. There was a small rack of clothes on the sideway which let me know that I was in the right area. Parking is on the street. Depending on the time of day, it could be easy or you'll be walking a few blocks. If you're parking on the main street, make sure you pay for parking during the week because parking enforcement are always around.

Halloween costumes, imaginative getups, clothing fresh from the drycleaners or in preshrunk, prefaded condition. Toys for young and old, things to get creative and make other things with and guess what????? IT's RECYLCLING! It's environmentally friendly. Some people cannot bear the thought of buying used clothes but did you know that if you want a book to read you can get a paperback for a quarter or a hardcover for a dollar? Things out of print, ideas, music, ornaments, art, you name it is is in here at one time or another. Once upon a time the people of the earth used to consume or toss away good items into the trash but now..... the only thing that limits what you can use from this store is your imagination. I used to work for another location in the city and cannot call them a kind or generous employer, in fact there, they really stink in that department but the second hand offereings on pennies for a dollar are just waiting there to be discovered. She has a beautiful cat. There are also items in the backyard. I didn't need anything, and my mom didn't find anything, so we unfortunately walked out of the shop empty handed. I don't know how, because there is so much. I don't think I saw a quarter of the items in there with my brief walk through. Definitely come here when you have a lot of time to look at everything. They have SO MANY cool things of all ages, from antiques to newer stuff, everything including the kitchen sink. Prices vary widely but most items are clearly marked so you'll know which things are within budget and which are the splurges. Bricks and countertops are in the fenced-in outdoor area. The staircase to the second and third levels is just inside the main entry on the right, and there is a gender-neutral restroom there too. Staff is friendly, helpful, and easy to find. Parking is available on the street (free, no meters). I also met a very sweet and friendly shop cat wandering around. Bonus points for the shop cat. Note - as with any large building full of really cool very old building materials, there is a pervasive musty smell in the air, so if you're sensitive to those things (allergies, asthma, etc.) a mask might be a good idea.

This pretty little shop is (obviously) located on the Roycroft Campus, in a building built in 1904 and designated as a Furniture Shop during the Roycroft era. This antique shop shares space with Norberg's Art & Frame Shop. Though the building looks pretty huge, most of the antiques sit in one average room (they take up less space than you'd think!). There's a good variety of things here. They've got anything from large pieces that would make a great contribution to any antique collection, or refurbished home decor, to my favorite cheap finds, like postcards, political buttons, and picture prints. From what I could tell, everything was fairly priced for being antiques! I was pretty much alone to explore the shop, though I had a brief glimpse of a gentleman who said to let him know if I had any questions - before he totally vanished. (But I'm sure if I needed him, I could have found him in the building somewhere.) I know I'm going to find something awesome here one day. I'm totally going to return when I'm in the area again!
