This time, the service and attitude from the older volunteer staff was very rude and challenging. After we expressed which cat we're interested in and then said that she's bonded with another, so we would have to get both. They asked how many cats we have (understandable question), I replied the two brothers. My son has one (unrelated from the brothers) and will be moving out this summer. The older volunteer staff then stated, "well maybe you should wait and see what happens" with her attitude... What does that mean!? Who the hell are they to tell me what's best for my family! So we left with a disappointed wife. One thing is for sure, they did not like me asking questions about any treatments, diseases or medical conditions on record. The living conditions is subpar. It is filthy, smells horrible and I would question if there are too many animals inside that small building. Maybe the Human Society of Greater Niagara or Niagara SPCA or even the Town of Pendleton should be contacted to check on things...

My daughter fell in love with a cat this past weekend while we were donating food. We applied to…read moreadopt him and were initially told we were approved but when we showed up to take him home they denied us because we told them we don't typically give canned food. Not that it was off the table just that it's not typical for us. There was no discussion it was an automatic decline and my daughter was devastated. I was so sad for her and the cat. I have owned cats for over 20 years and worked in the vet industry for over 6 years. I am appalled that they didn't trust us and left my daughter crying. To say we were approved and then to deny us when we showed up was absolutely cruel and they should be ashamed of themselves. This is not how a rescue operation should run and I will absolutely never support them again.

Junior boys and girls from Western New York can get out on the river alongside high school programs at Buffalo SEM and Canisius. We Can Row Buffalo is a program for women who are cancer survivors or current patients. The Row Buffalo team brings together the best high school and college men to race, and win, at elite summer regattas. There are programs for 7th and 8th graders as well as young people with different developmental abilities.

This camp is for ages 12 to 16, and athletes of all sizes are welcome. No prior rowing experience is necessary. -Modified Sculling is a program for kids in 7th and 8th grade. GoBike workshop is wonderful. The employees are so easy going and helpful. They assist and…read moreexplain without ever making you feel stupid. They give you the tools, space and instruction to do it yourself. The prices can't be beat, by far. They have used or new parts (and take donations of bikes and parts) available in the workshop. I replaced 2 cables, opening one shifter, learning how they work and following how they are attached to the bike. It was a great experience. I had a goofy grin on the whole time. I was ecstatic to finally get down and dirty to the guts of my bike. The place is housed in an old police station with bikes surrounding the entrance, literally hanging around. I highly recommend bringing your used bikes here as donations and using the workshop to repair your bikes. It was so much cooler than just dropping my bike off to be fixed by someone, although they will do that for you, you don't have to do it yourself. It's just a unique option to learn while doing the work yourself.

The GO Bike Workshop has been great to me. Tucked into an…read moreold police station at Linden and Colvin, it's a fantastic place to learn about mechanics, pick up parts, or buy a used bike. Adult bikes worked on by the mechanics there generally run from $100-$200. They accepts bike donations year round, which they use as in their various programs. Every time I visit my confidence with mechanics improves. I never thought I'd be so excited to learn how to true a wheel! The instructors are very patient and explain things well. On most Sundays they offer specific classes, such as Fix-a-Flat, Bearings, Drivetrains, or Basic Wheel Maintenance. In the summer and spring they offer Learn to Ride for adults and kids. In the winter the shop is only open to the public 3 days a week but in the nice weather they are open for retail just about every day. Naturally there is lots of bike parking but there are a handful of spots for cars too, and otherwise easy street parking nearby.

I'm under a tight budget so the prices here didn't appeal to me, but they were overall pretty reasonable. And it's great that the items weren't trendy items semi-massed produced that's sold under the guise of a gift shop trying to make it appear unique or local ish. You know what I mean?! The hubs actually surprised me because he ended up with some Feelgoodz house slippers. He loves online shopping more than being in-person at a store. So after he kept examining a pair of slippers and looking at prices online, he said he'd take 'em. I guess he went for a functional item. I've never encountered a whole store with fair trade items (not that I can remember) so running into this one was really cool. If we are to be consumers in this world, why not make it count a bit.

The merchandise was affordable and actually things I would buy. The cashier was super friendly but not pushy and really helpful. I know this is more of a chain store but I've never seen one before and I really enjoyed our visit.
