Items for sale were all reasonably priced and there were around 160 vendors. It took awhile to decide what I wanted/needed to buy. Finally bought 3 stained glass flowers ($5 ea) to put in my planters and a pretty necklace ($18). I wanted another necklace but it had no price and there was no answer from the artist after the cashier tried to get a hold of them which is a shame because they lost a sale). I was visiting from another state but I hope I get another chance to go back.

She has a beautiful cat. There are also items in the backyard. I didn't need anything, and my mom didn't find anything, so we unfortunately walked out of the shop empty handed. I don't know how, because there is so much. I don't think I saw a quarter of the items in there with my brief walk through. Definitely come here when you have a lot of time to look at everything. Sanborn Old General Store is a rabbit warren of antiques, collectibles, and general household things you might be looking for, even if you didn't know it before you visited. But I was looking for two lamps, one for a book case and a floor model. Found both. Each little section belongs to a different seller, each seller renting a space for their wares. One sales host on site when I stopped in today, Geraldine. She was very helpful. I found lamps that would work for me, each one belonging to a different seller. The prices were reasonable, but I had a limit of what I could spend on the two. Geraldine called the sellers with my offers. First was accepted, second was a compromise. A third item, a plant stand, interested me, but it was new to the store so the dealer declined my offer. I will check back in about two weeks when I'm next out that way. Because of the quantity and variety of items in the store, the place is a collector's dream ... and a museum for all. Even if you don't live near Sanborn (I'm about 25 miles away), I'm sure you will enjoy the experience. There is also a very clean and cozy rest room.

I've always found that you usually need to ask if the vendors have a "deal" or "special" going on and I have never paid the asking price. I've always walked away with a deal. We made some purchases, we did arrive at 10 am and waited out on the porch. They don't open until 11. A lovely lady drove up parked her car and asked "What are you doing out here? Please, please come in, you don't have to wait out here". What a sweetheart! I'm currently contacting them about a vintage mink coat I would like. The prices are higher than I'd like for a thrift shop but if you get lucky with the price tag colors then sometimes there are good deals. Stickers are extremely sticky and are put on things regardless of whether it will damage them or not, so be aware that this stuff is a pain to get off if you are looking for collectibles. Parking lot is large and easy to access. Staff is generally friendly and helpful... if you can find them. There is not always someone at the register and the method they have of checking people out seems purposely designed to be the most inefficient and awkward setup possible. Not the staff's fault, but can management consider a re-design of the check-out area? Overall decent store and I love that it supports the veterans. They always ask if I want to round up my purchase as a donation and yes, I do. Great cause and good treasure hunting spot.
