The place may be a little crowded, but that means more items! The house is two stories. But if you go around to the back of the house, there is a room with more items. We have primitive, classic, neo, mid century, early american, good old American vintage and many periods represented at the shop. We have furniture, cabinets, shelves, and home decor and well as collectibles and kitschy finds!!! The new item gifts are different and affordable, just like the rest of the shoppe. This is a Co-op so there are many different styles and personalities in the shoppe, which makes it more interesting to have different tastes and styles represented there. Items for sale were all reasonably priced and there were around 160 vendors. It took awhile to decide what I wanted/needed to buy. Finally bought 3 stained glass flowers ($5 ea) to put in my planters and a pretty necklace ($18). I wanted another necklace but it had no price and there was no answer from the artist after the cashier tried to get a hold of them which is a shame because they lost a sale). I was visiting from another state but I hope I get another chance to go back.

Sanborn Old General Store is a rabbit warren of antiques, collectibles, and general household things you might be looking for, even if you didn't know it before you visited. But I was looking for two lamps, one for a book case and a floor model. Found both. Each little section belongs to a different seller, each seller renting a space for their wares. One sales host on site when I stopped in today, Geraldine. She was very helpful. I found lamps that would work for me, each one belonging to a different seller. The prices were reasonable, but I had a limit of what I could spend on the two. Geraldine called the sellers with my offers. First was accepted, second was a compromise. A third item, a plant stand, interested me, but it was new to the store so the dealer declined my offer. I will check back in about two weeks when I'm next out that way. Because of the quantity and variety of items in the store, the place is a collector's dream ... and a museum for all. Even if you don't live near Sanborn (I'm about 25 miles away), I'm sure you will enjoy the experience. There is also a very clean and cozy rest room.

Maybe I wasn't the crowd their neighbors were looking for, but if you'd rather look at the past, instead of the candle hawking Bills mafia, like me, then you've come to the right place. They've got dishes of all sorts. They've got books if you like to read, and toys if you like to play. There are even clothes for the folk that like that old fashioned style, or just plain don't want to be naked. (While there isn't a sign, I'm assuming no shirt, no shoes, no service applies here. There is however a stated mask clause for the unvaccinated, so beware.) There's doodads in every crevice, from retro Grimace McDonalds combs to- well, I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise. Let's just say there's lots of stuff. And things. Lots of things. If you head upstairs, you'll find a bathroom, and a snack bar that runs on the honor system. They looked a bit dusty to me, as you've probably come for the nifty stuff in this time machine of a barn and not snackage, but maybe just hit up Hoovers while you're in town and make a day of it, eh? P.s. Don't pick the statue noses. There are cameras everywhere!

From the outside it's definitely a place that grabs your attention. There were a number of unique items leaning against the outside walls and the inside appeared to hold a host of oddities as well. It's rare that I have the time to explore these dens of hidden treasures when traveling outside the states but after this experience I think I may make more of an effort. It's worth your time to stop and browse if you enjoy this type of thing...

Stumbled across this place while doing volunteer work in the area…read more The name is slightly misleading. This is not a wholesale establishment- this is an antique store filled with items that have been collected from estates. Some people say "one mans trash is another mans treasure." I say 90% is still trash, but it doesn't hurt to look. Everything in here is old. They have a little of everything from furniture to mattresses to glassware to pillows to rusty old tools to collectible sports memorabilia to costume jewelry to Christmas decor to makeup products. Picture everything you've ever seen in your grandparents home and transport it here. This is not my cup of tea, but I totally get that it is for a lot of people. Why the 3 stars? The man behind the register was not wearing a mask when he cashed us out for our $1 rusty tool purchase. The signs on the doors and the floors are appropriate requiring masking and distancing, the employees should have to do the same.
