Sanborn Old General Store is a rabbit warren of antiques, collectibles, and general household things you might be looking for, even if you didn't know it before you visited. But I was looking for two lamps, one for a book case and a floor model. Found both. Each little section belongs to a different seller, each seller renting a space for their wares. One sales host on site when I stopped in today, Geraldine. She was very helpful. I found lamps that would work for me, each one belonging to a different seller. The prices were reasonable, but I had a limit of what I could spend on the two. Geraldine called the sellers with my offers. First was accepted, second was a compromise. A third item, a plant stand, interested me, but it was new to the store so the dealer declined my offer. I will check back in about two weeks when I'm next out that way. Because of the quantity and variety of items in the store, the place is a collector's dream ... and a museum for all. Even if you don't live near Sanborn (I'm about 25 miles away), I'm sure you will enjoy the experience. There is also a very clean and cozy rest room.

Everyone wore masks and there was hand sanitizer at the entrance, along with restrooms somewhere towards the back. The guy at the desk (owner?) was not very friendly today and there weren't many people inside, but we made our way through and found some HO train stuff and a nice necklace. Not a hot day outside but pretty stuffy inside, so be prepared on hot days (not sure there is AC). We would definitely stop back in the future.

Items for sale were all reasonably priced and there were around 160 vendors. It took awhile to decide what I wanted/needed to buy. Finally bought 3 stained glass flowers ($5 ea) to put in my planters and a pretty necklace ($18). I wanted another necklace but it had no price and there was no answer from the artist after the cashier tried to get a hold of them which is a shame because they lost a sale). I was visiting from another state but I hope I get another chance to go back.

The glassware is also eye-catching. The Co-Op is three stories of antiquey goodness. While the furniture is extraordinary, someone always beats me to the punch. They's always a sold sign on each beautiful piece. The Co-Op mostly has glassware, but this is definately a place to check out if you're into antiques. I've found a few vintage instructional manuals that have come in handy. There are a few drawbacks to the Ransomville Co-Op. The first being is that they are not consistently opened. I have dropped by many times only to find a sign saying that they'll "be back soon." Now I always call ahead to make sure someone is there. Another thing that bothers me are the posters strung up around the Co-Op. I think one "you break it, you bought it" sign should suffice. Or even one in each corner. There just seems to be a lot of them. But overall, this is a nice place.

This is not a wholesale establishment- this is an antique store filled with items that have been collected from estates. Some people say "one mans trash is another mans treasure." I say 90% is still trash, but it doesn't hurt to look. Everything in here is old. They have a little of everything from furniture to mattresses to glassware to pillows to rusty old tools to collectible sports memorabilia to costume jewelry to Christmas decor to makeup products. Picture everything you've ever seen in your grandparents home and transport it here. This is not my cup of tea, but I totally get that it is for a lot of people. Why the 3 stars? The man behind the register was not wearing a mask when he cashed us out for our $1 rusty tool purchase. The signs on the doors and the floors are appropriate requiring masking and distancing, the employees should have to do the same.
