However, I do believe the job and the service itself is 3 stars. Not bad but not amazing. I ended up walking away from this experience just kind of meh but wanted to share my honest thoughts so it'll help others. That being said, there were a couple hiccups that happened along the way. No one contacted me prior to the day of my start date/roof removal. The office manager kind of chucked it as the person who supposed to let me know was out sick. They require someone be home to sign off on the work so not letting me know seemed off.. Not a peep about what time theyll be arriving, what to expect. Etc. Yes, they walk you through this process during quotation but thats about 4 to 6 weeks out before the actual day. They also didnt let me know which day or what time. I had to reach out myself multiple times. The team is quick but I also think their speed leaves them a bit careless. After they were done, I was left with a patched ceiling (beautifully patched but I feel like shouldn't have happened in the first place), kitchen/outdoor light that no longer works, loose recessed lighting,, and plumbing leak. They also let you know and disclose that things may break since theres pressure on the roof. Its in the contract but it highlights loose items and such... but realistically, not electrical going out or plumbing leaks based on what ive learned from others and neighbors. I also had my plumbing inspected and redone in September 2024. Now, im not saying they were at fault and that theyre to blame. It could just be my luck that it happened exactly on the day they were up on my roof after living here over a year. Also, very minor but there were trash left around that my inspector found. They were accomodating on making things right although they started to be a little short with me towards the end. I really considered referring them to other friends who needed their roofing done but not sure if my confidence is there if theyll be spending $$$ for an ok experience.

When he came up to the door he asked if it was okay and I said okay, but honestly, I found it really strange and just didn't want to prolong the appointment. Upon inspection, he seemed very knowledgeable and personable and did a pretty thorough inspection taking pictures and videos of the roof and surrounding areas. As mentioned, I am the type to obtain multiple quotes, so I expected that after he did the inspection, we would go over his findings and a few days later I would receive a quote. After he did the inspection, he showed me a video of something the other roofers didn't, which was nice as I like a thorough job, but then said he would be in touch with a quote. I received a phone call a few days later asking to discuss findings, but when I called back, I got an AI bot which was then followed up by a call back from a real person. Oddly enough, when they called, they literally said nothing. They asked if it was a good time to talk and I said yes but they wanted to talk when "my husband was around." All of the roofing contractors other than J&J Roofing advised us to re-roof our entire house. Even though the front half of the roof of a 50 year roof (which was installed before we owned the house and J&J Roofing as not involved) has not lasted anywhere near 50 years, the front side and back side have worn differently. All of the other roofers would not even re-roof just the front half - it was all or nothing. J&J said that they could easily repair the issue without re-roofing and it cost us less than $500 for them to repair it. The repair worked. Almost four years later (and they had told us that at least the front half of the roof had only a few years remaining), at least the front half of the roof needed to be replaced. Since they had been so fair and honest with us and we were pleased with their work, we did not bid out the project - they got it. As they had said before, only the front half of the roof needed to be replaced at this time (with a possible additional ten years on the back half). We own solar panels and they referred us to someone who agreed to remove and replace the panels for almost half the cost that the company which installed the panels would have charged us. While it's not inexpensive to re-roof a house (even half of a roof), we felt their price was fair, they saved us the additional $3,500 that our solar company would have charged, their staff and crew were and always have been very professional and honest. The roof looks wonderful and they coordinated scheduling for the solar panels to be removed and replaced. They collaborated with that business. We recommend J&J Roofing without hesitation.

Still, seven years in the sun is a long time, so I called them for a "Roof Check Up." Alex came out, moved across the roof like a spider on a web, found a handful of non-serious issues, and fixed them on the spot as part of the checkup. I had a lot of questions about the condition of my roof and roofing in general. Alex could not have been more obliging. I know he is time constrained during a visit, but he clearly and succinctly addressed every question. It does not get any better than that. Thank you, Alex. As an aside, I also asked him to touch up the chimney flashing, the vertical metal piece where the chimney brick meets the roof tiles. Mine was structurally fine but looked ugly. They also had the best warranty of 30 years labor and 30 years material which can be transferred once. Anyone looking for a new roof should definitely consider them. Be advised though that if your roof is 20+ years old you will most likely have an additional charge to replace the old plywood underneath the tiles. It is impossible to estimate without taking off the tiles because you won't know the condition of the old plywood until the tiles are removed. Although another charge, new plywood increases the longevity of the roof and the value of the home. Foreman John came out on a Sunday to look at my roof and explain its issues. He was definitely knowledgeable in my roof and what it needed for it to be fixed. The true test will be how it stands up in a big storm but I am relieved that I have 30 years warranty for any issues that may arise.
