After seeing all the great reviews it comes as a surprise my experience.. I contacted Dowd roofing to get a quote on a complete roof job on my home..I took the day off from work to meet with there employee chuck.. which was very nice and professional.. the walkthrough went great.. I asked for 3 different estimates for different types of shingles.. never received an estimate. I understand people/ businesses get busy but I feel an estimate should not be forgotten, your starting of on the wrong foot from the getco,, there for I took it as a sign and took my business somewhere else..just my experience. read more

Gary and his team are very professional and honest. I wasn't sure what my Spanish style roof needed so I was relying on Gary and his team to assess my roof and let me know. I was worried I might need a whole new roof. After inspection, Gary informed me that my roof looked mostly good and there were only a few parts that needed work and reinforcement. He educated me on my roof tiles and saw that I had extra tiles on the side of my home which he said he could use instead of trying to find some to match. He gave a reasonable quote and start date. His team showed up and worked hard for a couple days until everything was said and done. Upon taking off the tiles they found another area of concern, took pics to show me and asked me if I wanted them to fix for a small amount more, of course I said yes. From start to finish, Dowd Roofing was the best in service (customer and project) and quality. They were attentive to what we really wanted and didn't overcharge much for things we didn't anticipate. They actually told us certain issues may be found prior to the project starting and how much it might affect us. Price is middle of the line (after getting 6 quotes). But what sold us was really the attentiveness and service. They even told us which houses they worked on that was near the office and told us to check out the roof and colors to see what we liked. Highly recommended! Timeline: Initial consultation took less than an hour. We had a lot of questions answered. It took a week or so for the inspector (permit) to approve the roofing. Roofing was scheduled out for a few months due to the company having many projects ahead of us, but once it was our turn, it took a couple days (tear off and application). Because it was forecasted to rain, they sped up the process but didn't skimp on the excellent work. They worked really hard to get it done before the rain hit! Those roofers were awesome! After finish, it took a week or so for the permit to be signed off and paid off. Service: Very attentive to our needs! Working hours are during the weekdays, however, make an appointment. We went twice and they weren't there. Figured they were out working. But with an appointment, we got everything answered. read more

Gary Dowd was wonderful. My retired mailman Ed had referred Dowd Roofing to me as he had utilized his services on his mother's home and was very happy with his services. During the January, 2025 Santa Ana winds our roof had a few tiles blown off. I know my roof is 30 years old and will need replacing. After my husband had called various other roofers, who just wanted to sell him a new roof, or give an estimate without even coming out to look or sending salesmen out just to sell, I called Gary Dowd. He answered my voicemail almost immediately by calling me back and I asked him if he would be available to come and check on my roof. He showed up that very weekend and told me he knew the rains were coming and would try and send someone out before the rains to patch the missing tiles at no charge. He said he was impressed with our roof and believed that it should last a couple more years. He followed up with his promise and did send one of his workers out before the rains and my roof was patched up at no charge. I will definitely be calling him back in a couple of years to have the entire roof replaced. What an amazing guy! I told him have a possible roof leak issue and told him where I live. He immediately said he's been to several other homes in the area and could probably guess with relative certainty the issue. He went one step further and guessed the approximate location of the leak (which he did correctly). I recently purchased my first home and Dowd Roofing was chosen to do the roofing of my house. The roof was dated and in bad condition, and we were given an initial quote by Gary. He explained that the cost may go up depending on the condition of the roof underneath (which you can't see until you tear the roof apart). The crew showed up on the day and got to work immediately. On the same day, Gary informed us of the extra cost for the damaged wood found underneath, and then gave us a timeline of the rest of the process up until finish. January 19, 2021 I'm a retired engineer and almost never give a 5 star rating. For a good standard job that you might expect when you hire a company, I give 4 stars. To get a 5 star rating the work must be exceptional and far above normal. For the Dowd Roofing Co., I gave 5 stars because they went above and beyond in not only the roofing by doing an excellent job on the roofing, and by tackling a very difficult task in putting flashing around a chimney that consisted of random sized and irregular shaped large stone slabs. They ended up cutting a custom fit flashing that took a full day to design and build. The large crew that did the roofing also had many challenges because of the many different shapes and levels. The crew was very friendly and organized and finished the job from start to finish in less than 3 days. The company is owned by Gary Dowd and he has a show room to help you select roofing material. He also has many years of experience in roofing. He was very friendly and helpful throughout the job. His right hand man, Chuck, did the design and construction of the chimney flashing and I would give him 10 stars for the extra effort he put in. The roof was beautiful and I received many thumbs up from the neighbors. I would happily recommend, without any reservations, the Dowd Roofing Company in Glendora. read more

With the recent rains, I noticed some bubbling and soft spots on my ceiling. I knew another rainstorm was coming soon and was scared my ceiling would come crashing down. I called my insurance agent who referred me to Gary. She said she refers all her clients to him and trusts that he will get the job done right! I called Gary and left him a voicemail. After a few hours, he called me back and said that he was very busy and has 11:00 -11:30 open the next day. I told him I don't think I would be able to meet him at that time because I have a work meeting and if he could meet me at noon instead. He said that he would push some things around and let me know if he can't make it at noon. Sure enough, the next day, as I was rushing to get back to the house after my meeting, he was already there, 5 minutes early. We walked inside the house and he took a look at the ceiling and said he wanted to look on top of the roof. After a few minutes, he came back down and said he knows what the problem is and can patch it for me right then and there. Since we were expecting to have heavy rains the next 2 days, Gary told me to wait a couple of days before he will accept payment so that we know he did it properly. After the rain, I've been monitoring the ceiling and not only did the patch work, the bubbling has gone away some since the ceiling has dried. After they fixed damage around our fireplace, I realized I never showed them that the interior ceiling was open rafters. A few nails had come through.
