I ended up walking away from this experience just kind of meh but wanted to share my honest thoughts so it'll help others. That being said, there were a couple hiccups that happened along the way. No one contacted me prior to the day of my start date/roof removal. The office manager kind of chucked it as the person who supposed to let me know was out sick. They require someone be home to sign off on the work so not letting me know seemed off.. Not a peep about what time theyll be arriving, what to expect. Etc. Yes, they walk you through this process during quotation but thats about 4 to 6 weeks out before the actual day. They also didnt let me know which day or what time. I had to reach out myself multiple times. The team is quick but I also think their speed leaves them a bit careless. After they were done, I was left with a patched ceiling (beautifully patched but I feel like shouldn't have happened in the first place), kitchen/outdoor light that no longer works, loose recessed lighting,, and plumbing leak. They also let you know and disclose that things may break since theres pressure on the roof. Its in the contract but it highlights loose items and such... but realistically, not electrical going out or plumbing leaks based on what ive learned from others and neighbors. I also had my plumbing inspected and redone in September 2024. Now, im not saying they were at fault and that theyre to blame. It could just be my luck that it happened exactly on the day they were up on my roof after living here over a year. Also, very minor but there were trash left around that my inspector found. They were accomodating on making things right although they started to be a little short with me towards the end. I really considered referring them to other friends who needed their roofing done but not sure if my confidence is there if theyll be spending $$$ for an ok experience.

One roofer came out and said we needed a new roof. Two other roofers came out and said they could replace the tiles, and fortunately the previous owners left us a stockpile of tiles so they wouldn't need to order many -- or any -- tiles. Mind you, according to all of these roofers, the tiles we have are top-of-the-line, expensive freaking tiles! When Jim came out, we could tell he was the man for the job. He walked on our roof, but he knew exactly how to step on the roof to not break any of the tiles. He counted all of the broken tiles, assessed the damage, and pointed out other areas that needed some work. He was by far the most detailed roofer to inspect our roof. His solution was to repair the cracked tiles that could be repaired (approx. 25 of them had hairline fractures), and replace the other 25 tiles. We really liked the fact that he could save some of the tiles and could repair them -- so we'd still be left with extras. After he did the inspection, he showed me a video of something the other roofers didn't, which was nice as I like a thorough job, but then said he would be in touch with a quote. I received a phone call a few days later asking to discuss findings, but when I called back, I got an AI bot which was then followed up by a call back from a real person. The team pay attention to detail, they demo the roof on Friday but they were off weekend and inspector won't check the underlayer til Monday so they covered up our roof over the weekend just in case of sudden weather changes. It needed a full resheathing (not sure the term). I think he came on a Thursday, we had the full estimate on Friday morning, we agreed on Saturday and he was getting the paperwork done for us on Monday. They demo'd the roof on Tuesday and Wednesday and put up a beautiful new one by Saturday. Mind you this included a couple of 110 degree days, where only one of the workers came to continue so they could still get it done by the end of the week. Above and beyond what we really expected with that kind of heat. There were also a few hassles with the city on the permits and Edison on dealing with the electricity which Roger masterfully handled, where we would have been clueless. Very professional, kind and just a fantastic job all around. Cost was good. We had priced the roof a few years ago and factoring in general increases and Roger's price was about what we expected. So it is a pretty good value. And both the speed and the quality, well worth it. Last, the crew did a good job of clean up too. We have had other work done where the crew left a lot of mess, but Roger's team, every day had cleaned up enough that we felt safe to let our dogs back into the yard when they were gone.
