We had our roof replaced by Garvey in 2018 and it has held up very well since then. This is a belated post for a job performed by Garvey Roofing back in July of 2024. We had a roof leak that was impacting the area around our front door. It was originally repaired by another roofing company in 2018. Unfortunately, the leak came back after a few rainstorms. That is when I called Garvey Roofing. They sent out Patrick and he did a great job repairing the roof leak. Patrick really knew what he was doing and even went out of his way to drive to the nearest hardware store to get additional parts that we needed. He also sealed all pipes and roof protrusions. TERRIBLE! BEWARE! WEBSITE IS A FARSE!! Just had the worst experience with Thomas Garvey. After performing a tie-in repair a week ago, my roof continued to leak with this recent rain and the original leak that was supposedly repaired expanded to create more damage. It took several calls to get him to show up and assess the work performed. Once here, he was very belligerent and refused to accept responsibility for his workmanship, but rather returned our check, probably because he saw the unacceptable work that was performed. We now have more damage and this is after he talked about how great our roof looked prior to them performing the tie-in fix when he came to provide the quote. STAY AWAY. I will be reporting him to the CA Contractors License Board. He was not professional and his actions were very concerning. He should not be in business! No stars for this business. read more

These guys are so nice. I am talking about Nico and Tom. I had a small issue on my roof and they fixed it. They even helped me with something unrelated to the job, but also on the roof, for free. My only complaint is that their working crew is way too busy and from signing the contract to them actually coming out to do the fix took a long time. However, I can't blame them all that much because rain just kept on coming. If you are patient, then I'd say they are worth the wait. I always called Nico for status. He would always keep me in the know, even when some weeks there were no projections on when they could come out. At the end, Nico pulled through and I have a piece of mind about my roof. read more

About a month ago, we discovered a leak around our chimney due to heavy rainfall. I made a couple of calls inquiring about repair. Not only did Garvey Roofing quickly come out to repair the leak, but they didn't try and overcharge and or upsell me any unnecessary service. I literally saved thousands due to their integrity and honesty. In addition, Thomas ( the owner) gave me an estimate of how many years left my roof has, until replacement. Not impressed but maybe that's just how it went for me. I had a leak that ruined the paint in my hallway. I asked Garvey to come out and they determined the problem was my skylight, and gave me a proposal that I signed, mid January 2023. Then I didn't hear from them for over a month. After several phone calls, the owner himself came out and got onto the roof to assess things, and said they could fix the skylight. They threw a tarp over the skylight in the meantime because I had painters come fix the paint that was ruined by the leak. Finally in late March, someone came to "fix" the skylight for $400 (above the original quote). The very next rain, which wasn't even that heavy, the leak was worse than ever and the paint is ruined again, worse than it originally was. So I called Garvey 3 times to see if they would make it right and at least refund the $400 that was spent on absolutely nothing (I didn't even mention that I'll have to pay for the paint to be fixed) and it has been crickets from them. I'm not surprised, I could barely get a response when I was wanting to give them money to do a job. All around a really bad experience. I would have rather have spent the money on a new skylight and could have called a skylight company, but these guys said they could fix it. I called them first because, not being a professional roofer myself, I wasn't sure it was the skylight at first. Lesson learned. read more

The owner of this company is the one that did the work for us. His company was the only one of three roofing companies that was able to repair a leaking flat roof in our breezeway between our garage and our guest house. Good job. I remembered using Mr. Garvey... so when my wife was telling me that we needed to have our roof replaced (!!! She is NO expert, but she just thought it was "time" for a new roof!), I called Mr. Garvey for an inspection and estimate. He came out to our house on time in an expedient manner and was very friendly and jovial. After he went atop our roof after about ten minutes, he came back down and told me that honestly, we did NOT need a new roof and that in a climate like Monrovia's, we should be able to get at least ten or 15 more years out of our roof. This impressed me very much that he was very honest and told me that! We had two very old roofs at a rental property, that were leaking horribly after the rains. Our tenants were very unhappy! We called many local roofers to try to get someone to make repairs or do a replacement. Only two roofers called back, of the dozen that I called. I understand that they're all swamped with calls right now. Garvey Roofing was one of the two who got back to me. We had a leak in our master bedroom after the recent storm, so we called to get an estimate. The owner, Tom, came out to take a look. Initially, he pointed out a few things about how the roof was installed that made me confident in his knowledge and that he was not looking to take advantage of the situation. He noted that the quality of the materials used and age of the roof meant that the issue causing the leak should be easy to identify. He climbed up and immediately found the area that was leaking without me pointing it out specifically. It turns out there were some damaged tiles, and he offered to fix it immediately if we had any spares. Luckily we did and a short time later, he was done! He is all about creating real value and giving real honest answers. I had him out a few times to check for leaks. Tom came out to give me an estimate on some repairs I thought I needed. It turned out repairs were not needed and the tile that fell off was just an extra tile that was left on my roof when the home was built. He adjusted one tile that was a little loose. Unlike two other estimates that wanted several hundred dollars for repairs, Tom didn't charge me anything. He was very honest and straight with me and said my roof was in good shape. I will definitely give him a call in the future for any roof repairs or if I need a new roof some day. Anyone that needs a new roof or repairs should definitely give him a call for an honest opinion. This might sound redundant, but here goes: Last year we developed a couple leaks in our roof. I think we had a total of 6 roofers out to look and estimate what work would be needed and the cost. EVERY ONE told us that they would have to do the entire roof, to the cost of 18,000 to 22,000 dollars. Then came Tom. He was friendly and professional. I was straight with him and told him what the other estimates were. He went up on the roof and when he came down he said, "I can see where your leaks are coming from, and its an easy fix. Also your roof is good for another 10 years! I can have my man out tomorrow and fix the leaks for $200." I was speechless and said "Are you sure???" He said he was and would give a 5 year guarantee materials and labor. Our roof has been perfect since then, and 3 weeks ago we had his guys do our patio roof (which was REALLY BAD). I'm quite surprised by the negative reviews as my experiences have been very different. I contacted Tom Garvey & other roofers over 18 years ago to bid on a new roof for my English Tudor. Most other roofers stayed in their truck, looked at the steep pitch from the curb, and told me that they would not even consider tackling such a difficult job. When Tom came to see the project, he jumped out of his truck with enthusiasm. I knew from that moment that he was the guy for the job! Tom took off 4 existing roofs and put on a new one. It was a difficult project but he skated right through. We passed inspection (not easy in Glendale) and my roof had been trouble-free ever since. Last week some squirrels introduced themselves to my roof and did some damage. I called Tom and he actually remembered the job and personally came out and repaired it. I find Tom to be the best roofer and is a true pro in every sense of the word. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Tom to anyone. He's honest, kind and on top of his game. read more

I have used Garvey Roofing in recent months for three comparatively small jobs, but perhaps more noteworthy, at this time I am setting up with them for yet a fourth job, and this one involves a known leak ... I can look at the roof in the attic and see daylight through it. I am confident Garvey will do a proper job for a decent price, with me on a limited income. I have read the negative reviews but had no such adverse experience myself. The roof is old enough for any high-pressure salesman to make a case for a whole new one, which would require a complete strip and rebuild, but instead, Tom Garvey assured me none such is required at this time. I should add that one of my jobs had nothing to do with a roof, but instead was replacement and painting of a flight of outdoor wooden stairs, which Garvey did better than the last guys who worked on those, and worked it around needed use by my family.
