I called Garvey Roofing after noticing moisture on the ceiling of my office during heavy rains. Tom Garvey came out personally, inspected the roof, and explained what was happening with that section of the roof and why water was able to get in. Rather than trying to sell me on a larger repair or full replacement, Tom showed my brother and me how to address the problem area ourselves with a garden hose, which was both unexpected and super helpful. He also did a small repair while he was there, spent time explaining everything, was a pleasure to speak with, and didn't charge us for the visit. I really appreciated his honesty and willingness to help. It's rare to have someone come out, solve the immediate problem, and not try to turn it into an unnecessary job. I will absolutely call Garvey Roofing again if I ever need roof work. read more

Nico came out, he was very helpful and honest. The wood paneling just under my roof needs repair. He said they could work on it, but that their rates are quite high for such a small job and actually ended up giving me a recommendation. I appreciate the honesty, which left me with the impression that this is a trustworthy organization. Thanks again! read more

I recently had a new roof installed on my rental property in Monrovia, and I couldn't be happier with the entire experience with Garvey Roofing. I met Jason at the property, and he took the time to walk me through everything that needed to be done. He explained the process in detail, answered all of my questions, and provided a thorough proposal. I decided to hire them. The project involved removing three old layers of roofind and installing all new plywood, vents and roofing. It was a substantial job, and I am extremely pleased with the quality of the work and the finished result. I highly recommend Garvey Roofing to anyone looking for a reliable, professional roofind company. I couldn't be happier with the result! Shelley S. read more

My home is 100 years old. It needed a new roof. Garvey's guys tore off three layers of old roof and put on a new one. I have a flat top house so care needs to be taken about the slope. Highly recommend. They have worked in our roof twice. Great customer service, on time, and they know what they are doing.

I can't rate their service. But I can rate how they treat clients. We have a small job that we want to tend to before the rains begin. I call Garvey to have someone come out and give an estimate. Nico came out. Nice guy. Explained the work needed to solve the problem. Left a contract and a return envelope for us to use to sign and return the contract and send a deposit. We did that. Tom Garvey, the owner, called several days later to clarify the scope of the to be done. We gave the go-ahead to move forward with scheduling. Nearly a week later, I hadn't heard from anyone, so I left Tom a voice message; he never returned the call. I called him again this morning ... Not only did he not apologize for not returning the call, he claimed not to remember the conversation ("I get lots of calls ...") ... Sorry, that's just rude. I told him that I was calling to schedule the work. He said he doesn't do scheduling. I asked him who does. He said that person is out sick. I asked when can we expect to get the work done. Essentially, he said that this job is too small a job and that we should go elsewhere. Great way to do business, Tom ... read more

We've used Garvey Roofing several times over the last few years. Always a quick response and friendly service. The roof on our almost 100 year old house was last replaced about 30 years ago, so when we found a leak recently we figured it might be time for a new roof again. Garvey roofing came out as soon as the rain stopped. After climbing on the roof he let us know that all that was needed was a minor repair. The existing roof should last for many more years. We were prepared to spend many thousands of dollars for a new roof. Certainly a great relief. Friendly, quick, knowledgeable and honest. Highly recommended. read more

We've used Tom on both our past houses, both for a partial re-roof and a full re-roof. Both times we got 3-4 bids and we always went with Tom in the end. He and his team do a fantastic job and go above and beyond. He is knowledgeable, honest, fair, and gives you options to best meet your needs. There are often quirks with roofing projects that bleed into adjacent work and I've felt great about having him help with those as well. read more

Garvey is our go-to roofer. Tom Garvey and his crew are always on-time and their work is reasonably-priced. Stellar communication as well. The quality of their work is simply the best. We had our roof replaced by Garvey in 2018 and it has held up very well since then. Earlier last month, an oak tree branch hit the roof on our patio and while it caused some damage, we went with Garvey again and the crew was able to get the damaged area patched up and restored within a few days. Garvey tends to be more swamped these days since they are short-staffed, but if you want things done right, Garvey Roofing is the way to go. read more

TERRIBLE! BEWARE! WEBSITE IS A FARSE!! Just had the worst experience with Thomas Garvey. After performing a tie-in repair a week ago, my roof continued to leak with this recent rain and the original leak that was supposedly repaired expanded to create more damage. It took several calls to get him to show up and assess the work performed. Once here, he was very belligerent and refused to accept responsibility for his workmanship, but rather returned our check, probably because he saw the unacceptable work that was performed. We now have more damage and this is after he talked about how great our roof looked prior to them performing the tie-in fix when he came to provide the quote. STAY AWAY. I will be reporting him to the CA Contractors License Board. He was not professional and his actions were very concerning. He should not be in business! No stars for this business. read more

This is a belated post for a job performed by Garvey Roofing back in July of 2024. We had a roof leak that was impacting the area around our front door. It was originally repaired by another roofing company in 2018. Unfortunately, the leak came back after a few rainstorms. That is when I called Garvey Roofing. They sent out Patrick and he did a great job repairing the roof leak. Patrick really knew what he was doing and even went out of his way to drive to the nearest hardware store to get additional parts that we needed. He also sealed all pipes and roof protrusions. Now after two severe rainstorms this past winter, no more leak!! Thank you Patrick and Garvey Roofing for fixing this problem. read more

Thomas at Garvey Roofing is one of the best contractors I have ever dealt with. He is knowledgeable and straightforward. His years of expertise shows as he discusses the problem and provides a solution. I highly recommend Garvey Roofing to homeowners and business owners for their roofing needs. read more

These guys are so nice. I am talking about Nico and Tom. I had a small issue on my roof and they fixed it. They even helped me with something unrelated to the job, but also on the roof, for free. My only complaint is that their working crew is way too busy and from signing the contract to them actually coming out to do the fix took a long time. However, I can't blame them all that much because rain just kept on coming. If you are patient, then I'd say they are worth the wait. I always called Nico for status. He would always keep me in the know, even when some weeks there were no projections on when they could come out. At the end, Nico pulled through and I have a piece of mind about my roof. read more

Garvey Roofing came through for us a second time. Overall our roof is in good shape but has a design flaw from the previous roof company that caused water intrusion in wood siding. Tom the owner came up with a creative solution that resolved the issue, saving us the expense of prematurely replacing the roof. I appreciate the honesty and integrity of this company as much as the work quality. When we need the roof replaced we'll call Garvey Roofing. read more

I had a schedule for estimate today, but they never call me neither show up. Is that how they do business?

Tom looks professional and knowledgeable. However they never schedule service with me as promised after I signed and mailed back the contract. Left VM but never get called back. My point is, if you don't have the bandwidth, don't give people contract. Or perhaps my contract is too small a dollar amount. read more

About a month ago, we discovered a leak around our chimney due to heavy rainfall. I made a couple of calls inquiring about repair. Not only did Garvey Roofing quickly come out to repair the leak, but they didn't try and overcharge and or upsell me any unnecessary service. I literally saved thousands due to their integrity and honesty. In addition, Thomas ( the owner) gave me an estimate of how many years left my roof has, until replacement. Today, there is no leak, which I've read can be difficult with river rock chimneys. Stand up business and definitely our go to for any further roofing needs! I highly recommend them! read more

Garvey Roofing replaced our roof 6 years ago They were fast and efficient and the roof still looks like new. The owner of this company is the one that did the work for us. His company was the only one of three roofing companies that was able to repair a leaking flat roof in our breezeway between our garage and our guest house. Good job. I remembered using Mr. Garvey... so when my wife was telling me that we needed to have our roof replaced (!!! She is NO expert, but she just thought it was "time" for a new roof!), I called Mr. Garvey for an inspection and estimate. He came out to our house on time in an expedient manner and was very friendly and jovial. After he went atop our roof after about ten minutes, he came back down and told me that honestly, we did NOT need a new roof and that in a climate like Monrovia's, we should be able to get at least ten or 15 more years out of our roof. This impressed me very much that he was very honest and told me that! I have no complaints with Garvey Roofing at all, and I recommend them to everybody seeking service for their residential home's roof! My friend at KGEM, Ms. Marlene Gibb... who has a long running local t.v. show at the station, had Mr. Garvey on her show and she also thinks he is a fine professional roofer... We say that Tom and Garvey Roofing deserve FIVE STARS in every way. read more

Not impressed but maybe that's just how it went for me. I had a leak that ruined the paint in my hallway. I asked Garvey to come out and they determined the problem was my skylight, and gave me a proposal that I signed, mid January 2023. Then I didn't hear from them for over a month. After several phone calls, the owner himself came out and got onto the roof to assess things, and said they could fix the skylight. They threw a tarp over the skylight in the meantime because I had painters come fix the paint that was ruined by the leak. Finally in late March, someone came to "fix" the skylight for $400 (above the original quote). The very next rain, which wasn't even that heavy, the leak was worse than ever and the paint is ruined again, worse than it originally was. So I called Garvey 3 times to see if they would make it right and at least refund the $400 that was spent on absolutely nothing (I didn't even mention that I'll have to pay for the paint to be fixed) and it has been crickets from them. I'm not surprised, I could barely get a response when I was wanting to give them money to do a job. All around a really bad experience. I would have rather have spent the money on a new skylight and could have called a skylight company, but these guys said they could fix it. I called them first because, not being a professional roofer myself, I wasn't sure it was the skylight at first. Lesson learned. read more

We had two very old roofs at a rental property, that were leaking horribly after the rains. Our tenants were very unhappy! We called many local roofers to try to get someone to make repairs or do a replacement. Only two roofers called back, of the dozen that I called. I understand that they're all swamped with calls right now. Garvey Roofing was one of the two who got back to me. I had asked the 'other' roofing company to tarp the roofs on an emergency basis, which they were able to do. But then, I didn't get a call back after that, about estimating repairs/replacement, and a new leak had developed in an un-tarped location. So, I called back Garvey Roofing. The owner and staff were very professional and communicative. They were able to replace the two roofs in between the rains...they look great, the price was very reasonable, they didn't leave a mess behind and our tenants are very happy! Was a good experience. I highly recommend. I would definitely hire them again in the future! read more

We had a leak in our master bedroom after the recent storm, so we called to get an estimate. The owner, Tom, came out to take a look. Initially, he pointed out a few things about how the roof was installed that made me confident in his knowledge and that he was not looking to take advantage of the situation. He noted that the quality of the materials used and age of the roof meant that the issue causing the leak should be easy to identify. He climbed up and immediately found the area that was leaking without me pointing it out specifically. It turns out there were some damaged tiles, and he offered to fix it immediately if we had any spares. Luckily we did and a short time later, he was done! I would call them again in a heartbeat if we run into any more issues in the future. read more

Tom is the best. It is rare to meet owners that actually come out and do the work. When I say do the work, he climbed the ladders and checked out the roof. He is all about creating real value and giving real honest answers. I had him out a few times to check for leaks. In the end the leak did not come from the roof and he end up fixing a few broken tiles just because he was already up on a second story roof. He gave great advice and suggestions. If you need roofing work, you have to call Tom. read more

Like with any contractor who's good at what they do, we had to wait to get our roofing job done after a major off-season rain storm, but it was worth it. It was great dealing with real professionals who get the job done RIGHT the first time. Tom's estimator and crew tactfully isolated and corrected errors of a prior roofer between two subsequent rain storms. The roofers at Garvey Roofing are 5-star PRO'S! read more

Tom will not bullshit you. Worth every penny. Think of the long term. Don't look for immediate temporary fixes. Fixed a leak that followed after a heavy rainstorm. He even assessed the neighboring units of my condo complex since we all share a roof, and did things for them on the spot without charging any more. read more

Tom came out to give me an estimate on some repairs I thought I needed. It turned out repairs were not needed and the tile that fell off was just an extra tile that was left on my roof when the home was built. He adjusted one tile that was a little loose. Unlike two other estimates that wanted several hundred dollars for repairs, Tom didn't charge me anything. He was very honest and straight with me and said my roof was in good shape. I will definitely give him a call in the future for any roof repairs or if I need a new roof some day. Anyone that needs a new roof or repairs should definitely give him a call for an honest opinion. Thanks Tom. read more

This might sound redundant, but here goes: Last year we developed a couple leaks in our roof. I think we had a total of 6 roofers out to look and estimate what work would be needed and the cost. EVERY ONE told us that they would have to do the entire roof, to the cost of 18,000 to 22,000 dollars. Then came Tom. He was friendly and professional. I was straight with him and told him what the other estimates were. He went up on the roof and when he came down he said, "I can see where your leaks are coming from, and its an easy fix. Also your roof is good for another 10 years! I can have my man out tomorrow and fix the leaks for $200." I was speechless and said "Are you sure???" He said he was and would give a 5 year guarantee materials and labor. Our roof has been perfect since then, and 3 weeks ago we had his guys do our patio roof (which was REALLY BAD). It took 3 1/2 days and only cost 3,000. Ive already recommended him to others, and am happy to do the same here. read more

Since the reviews were terrific, I contacted Garvey Roofing for an estimate in August 2022. Since that time, I've been in a long game of phone tag just to get the estimate emailed to me for consideration. Even after speaking with Aurora and other staff members numerous times, including as recently as the last two days of December 2022, Garvey Roofing has been unable to provide an estimate. read more

I'm quite surprised by the negative reviews as my experiences have been very different. I contacted Tom Garvey & other roofers over 18 years ago to bid on a new roof for my English Tudor. Most other roofers stayed in their truck, looked at the steep pitch from the curb, and told me that they would not even consider tackling such a difficult job. When Tom came to see the project, he jumped out of his truck with enthusiasm. I knew from that moment that he was the guy for the job! Tom took off 4 existing roofs and put on a new one. It was a difficult project but he skated right through. We passed inspection (not easy in Glendale) and my roof had been trouble-free ever since. Last week some squirrels introduced themselves to my roof and did some damage. I called Tom and he actually remembered the job and personally came out and repaired it. I find Tom to be the best roofer and is a true pro in every sense of the word. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Tom to anyone. He's honest, kind and on top of his game. read more

Our home inspector advised we might need a roof tune-up, so we called Tom and asked him to come check it out. After a quick walk around up top, he let us know that our roof is still in good shape and should last us another 5-10 years without too much maintenance. Tom gave us some great advice for our roof and exterior paint, then was on his way. Happy to have found a roofer we can absolutely trust to hire in the future! read more
