This is a two part review, I have been coming to save mart for about five years. During that time, it has slowly become more of our go-to store, but does have some competition from Safeway and Rayleys. Overall, I feel treated very well. I have worked with the butcher shop on items like ordering a rib roast for the holidays to ensure I get one prior to them selling out. They have always honored he requests and never asked for deposit or purchase even when I have offered to do so. Similarly, when there is a solid deal on something in a max pack, and there are no "Max packs" available, they will try to make a max pack out of the individually wrapped items or look in the back. Regarding the service, I have never been mistreated, in fact, they have treated me well. I have had some pricing mis-matches and for the most part, they go on the honor system but I do know many of the employees. Finally, and I am a bit apprehensive to mention this, but they make some incredible chicken tenders and recently added wings. They have several flavors, but what was consistent overall was the ratio of meat to bone, and overall size. Some were the size of a small drumstick. They were piping hot, fresh, and tasty. I am partial to salt and vinegar and these here are legit- additionally, for a quick dinner I grab a pound or two of the chicken tenders, a fresh French roll, and then come home, spread some spaghetti sauce on the bread, top with mozzarella and broil for a few min to heat it up until bubbly and starting to brown. Add the chicken and you have a solid chicken parmigiana. Finally, price wise, like all supermarkets, you got to get the loyalty app, check the weekly ad, clip some coupons electronically, and you can save some significant cash. Having said that, overall, a solid value place if you are looking to stretch a dollar. About every other week they will have a great price on salmon fillet or steak. Both have always been quality items well worth the price. I hope they do bring back the bbq in the summer where you can get a cooked tri tip, that stopped due to the pandemic.

Had my first and last shopping experience with Save Mart. Ordered thru Instacart yesterday. Last night I went to eat some of my newly purchased celery and discovered this!!!!! Clearly they don't check their produce!! DISGUSTING!!!

okay guys. a few weeks ago i was on yelp asking where i should take me wifey for valentine's day right? and no one suggested anything so i'm like, aw frick what the heck am i gonna do? so i start thinking and let me just say that vera has been a bit hesitant to let me pick what we do on valentine's day ever since wafflegate. then i'm like: savemart. foothills savemart is dope as frick. so i go, "*finger snap* honey, get in the car. we're gonna have a getaway for valentines" and we get in the car and i turn on katy perry's teenage dream because holy frick its a good song. plus it was on at sunsplash in roseville when we went on our honeymoon. so wifey and i arrive at savemart and she's sitting there in stunned silence. coiled in a ball. "c'mon honey we're gonna go get cakes!" so she's really quiet and we go in and we pick out single serve cakes. oh. my. freaking. heck. the bakery section is always my favorite because it is like a vacation in itself. better than like italy or funderland. top tier baked goods my dudes. holy wow. she picked the german chocolate and i got the party cake because who the frick doesn't want a party in cake format? and they weren't kidding like it was a total mouth rave. the service was pretty cool too like one lady was laughing that i was dancing behind vera and poking her while man i feel like a woman was on. good times. we checked out the rice section which was really dope too. vera was getting a bit impatient and hungry (we skipped dinner to come here) but cmon there was a really good sale on instant basmati like how the frick am i gonna pass that up? we checked out the firewood too which was really a cool vicarious life experience because i don't have a firepit (yet) but it was emotional getting to see the logs and stuff. i want one. okay. and vera says if i behave starting rigth now i can get some logs. so guess who has some really dope logs now? boom. me. the outdoor section is organized nice. i further entertained her with chocolate on my head because i do this funny bit where i'm captain cocoa the candy pirate and it's super funny. maybe you guys saw. i love foothills savemart. prices were dope. store was clean. this place is like the most ideal destination ever. vera thought we were going to eat the cakes in the car or go to the park or something but i was like "honey pop a squat we're eating these bad boys out front" so we did that right next to the soda machine. absolutely fantastic. PEACE DUDES.

My New Year started with Employee Joseph showing me what the worst possible Save Mart employee behaves like. At 6:20pm 1/2/2023 I began to checkout at the self check-out at the Savemart in Roseville when I was immediately confronted by Joseph. Joseph told me it was 15 items or less so I asked "is possible to still proceed?" He told me no and insisted that I go to a cashier POS station. As I obliged, I walk back into the store shopping floor but bumped the 15 items or less sign lightly. Joseph then ran up to me and grabbed my cart proceeding to embarrass me in front of the other customers as he attempted to pull my cart away, refused service and childishly threw a fit. I asked for his manager and he told me he was the manager. It required Brian and Mimi to help me since Joseph refused. I would never consider Joseph to be on my payroll. This is quintessentially the worst employee a company can have, I feel discriminated against and I implore management of any team anywhere to view this as what not to do for their employees. https://youtu.be/rqqhKnWABsY

Safeway Grocery Store Review -- Exceptional Service Every Visit…read more Safeway continues to deliver amazing customer service from top to bottom. Every department shows real pride in their work, and it makes every visit smooth, friendly, and dependable. Standout Team Members * Drive Up & Go Team -- Always fast, organized, and genuinely welcoming. Jaiden is one of my absolute favorites. He always has a smile, stays helpful, and consistently goes above and beyond. * Morning Checker - Denise Denise is exceptional. She brings professionalism, kindness, and consistency every morning. She sets the tone for the day with her positive attitude and attention to detail. She's one of the reasons this Safeway feels like a community store. * Pharmacy Department -- Consistently helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. They make picking up prescriptions simple and stress‑free. * Front End Management -- Welcoming, professional, and always greeting customers with a smile. They set the tone for the whole store. Overall Experience Every visit feels appreciated and taken care of. The staff works as a team, and it shows in the atmosphere, the service, and the way customers are treated. This Safeway location is truly exceptional.

GAS STATION REVIEW:…read more Let me start by saying Aaron gets 5 stars. He stepped in and handled his coworker who is so confused and easily irritated.  I stopped at the Safeway gas station today and had a very disappointing experience with one of the cashiers. She is the older lady with dark hair and has a bad attitude. I think her name is Johna. Negative stars if I can goes to her. She couldn't ring me up because she can't do simple math or knows how to use the register. Easily confused and then gets upset. Aaron was right next to her and thankfully stepped in and handled the situation with professionalism and kindness. I asked for $40 in gas and 2 super lotto quick picks and 1 mega million. I thought the mega million was $3, so when I was told it was $2, I said I'd like 3 super lotto quick picks and one mega. I didn't think that was so confusing or too much to ask for. The cashier immediately seemed confused about how to process the transaction and became increasingly frustrated while trying to use the register. I repeated myself and said $40 in gas and $5 in lotto. I put down $45 in cash on the table. Then she start saying, "she asked for 2 and now she wants 3." Then she starts pressing all these buttons and says, "$45 In lotto tickets??" Good thing Aaron was there and he saw the whole thing. He heard me when I asked for the tickets and was helping get the tickets.  Aaron noticed what was happening and stepped in to help. He was patient, calm, and respectful, and quickly resolved what was actually a very simple transaction. He even made a lighthearted comment when handing me the tickets, saying "it only takes five dollars to be a millionaire," which brought a smile after an awkward interaction. What was most disappointing happened as I was leaving. I overheard the cashier say "she's so annoying," referring to me. I had been polite the entire time and was simply waiting to complete a basic purchase. I remained quiet as I saw her losing her sh*t.  It's concerning when a customer is spoken about like that within earshot. Aaron demonstrated exactly what good customer service looks like, but the attitude and lack of professionalism from the other employee left a very negative impression. Safeway management should recognize Aaron for his professionalism and also address the behavior I experienced from this employee.

We placed an advance order for 10 lbs. each of the Greek Orzo Salad, Basil with Sun-Dried Tomato Pasta Salad, and Chinese-Style Chicken Salad for our mother's 40-day Greek Orthodox memorial service. All salads were fresh, and everyone really enjoyed them. What really stood out for us was Dee Dee's patience and her personable customer service. We had also ordered four platters of pinwheel sandwiches from Sam's Club, and they texted us a last-minute cancellation at 6 a.m., one hour before our designated pickup time on the morning of our mother's memorial. It was such a nightmare! My sister desperately called Safeway to see if they could help us. Dee Dee was a lifesaver and calmed us both down (I called her as well, and she was very patient and friendly). Dee Dee was able to prepare two assorted meat and cheese finger sandwich platters and two assorted meat and cheese slider sandwich platters for us (around 180 sandwiches!) in about 90 minutes! My sister and I were both desperate and in highly emotional states, and Dee Dee saved our lives that day. When we arrived at Safeway, she was so warm and welcoming, and the platters she prepared were beautifully arranged. My sister wanted to give Dee Dee a gift card to thank her for saving us, but she refused to accept it and told us she hoped the rest of our day and our event would go well. She is such a wonderful person. I wish I had better, close-up pictures, but these were the only two I had. Thank you, Dee Dee. We will always think of your deli first the next time we need to order anything for future occasions!

While we waited in line, she was cashing out the people in front of us. They were paying with cash and handed over a $20 bill. Hayden looked at them after getting change from the drawer for about two minutes and asked if they wanted their change back. The gal in line said yeah? with a confused look on her face. The cashier got $4 in ones and said this is the best I can do and the gal took off somewhat annoyed. We start getting rung up next and only have one item. I hand over two twenty dollar bills to cover the total and Hayden looks at me and says "I can only give you a dollar in change unless you want the rest." The remainder is three dollars and some change. I respond, "yes, I do." So then she says "okay well the line is getting too long and this is taking too long so you're going to have to go to customer service to ask for it" with an unpleasant tone and annoyance in her voice as if I'm causing this issue. She hands me a dollar with my receipt, and starts ringing up the next person. I ask "is someone aware of what I'm going there for?" Then responds with "someone eventually should be there probably" rolling her eyes and using tone again. We walk over to customer service and a supervisor walks over and says "hello, what's going on?" I respond saying "I don't know, I was told to walk here to ask for my change." The supervisor lets out a sigh and smirks and walk to the register. He asks if the cashier has no change at all, which he's told Hayden's "ringing people up." The customers behind us were told to go to customer service also and we hear them behind us talking to each other complaining about Hayden's unpreparedness and attitude. The supervisor gets the key to the office, gets change from the lock box and hands it over. As we leave, he begins to help the others in line. Hayden looked to be coming back from break before we got in line. It seemed like she did not prepare her register prior to beginning to ring up customers. The proper thing to have done would be to wait until the drawer is either switched out or replenished to ensure checkouts flow smoothly. Hayden seemed to not be in a good mood and rather make the customer experience unpleasant. She gave the impression of not wanting to put any effort into her work, which the issue had a simple solution. I understand that there are circumstances out of our control however, there was no effort taken to resolve the situation and guests were met with attitude.

However as of a couple weeks ago, I was surprised to learn that they are no-longer offering plastic bags at this location. What I received instead, was a basic paper bag, with no handles. I asked the cashier what the deal was, and she said "The manager wanted our location to be more environmentally friendly, so they stopped ordering the plastic bags and ordered the paper bags." Friendly or not, I was still charged $0.10 Cents for each paper bag. Of which, they proved to be more of an inconvenient nuisance with no handles, than being of any value. So, if you want to be able to carry out your groceries, bring your re-usable bags or recycled plastic bags. The real question is if this brilliant decision by management to save money yet still badger us for the $0.10 Cents per bag, will it negatively affect business in any way? I don't think it will be a staggering difference, yet more and more people will be inclined to go to the other Wal-Mart on Lead Hill Road and Rocky Ridge Drive or Target around the corner on Douglas Blvd., as a result. Aside from that, the staff are friendly and helpful and they are rarely without the products one is looking for. Something I have appreciated over the years, is that they do have a large selection of arts and crafts supplies. In some instances there are other products that one can find cheaper at various other locations, however it is worth sacrificing price over convenience, because I don't like jumping around when shopping. Cheers!
