I stopped in just to check things out, having never seen an actual Amazon Fresh store before. I was first stuck by how few people were actually shopping there, and how many staff were filling orders. Internet orders seem to be this store's primary business. The store was bright, clean, well-organized, and offered a very wide variety. Prices on the whole were remarkably low. Technology abounds here, such as computers and scanners on all carts to enable shoppers to pay right from their carts. Having ordered some Whole Foods items from Amazon Fresh, I had to check out the physical store for the experience. AMBIANCE: Ambiance felt like a cleaner Safeway with some Whole Foods vibes sprinkled in. For example, ultra processed food was prominently displayed in the middle of the store but $9 vegan salad dressing was also available on outer aisles. Additionally, the hot food bar was not nearly as fresh or healthy as that of Whole Foods. Like Safeway, there were multiple options for your everyday basics. PRICES: I did have a coupon going in ($10 off $50+), but the prices were honestly not great compared to Trader Joe's or even Whole Foods (especially for the value). OTHER: Now for the digital aspects: -you scan your own items, which is cool but this also means that any time you "save" by skipping the cashier line is spent upfront (meaning I don't think it's really a timesaver). This also means you bag as you go, which means you may not pack things as efficiently as you would if you bagged items once you had purchased everything -you can ask an "Alexa" where things are. This was awesome -the cart had a scale meaning that if you have a child with you, the child cannot sit in the cart -staff were very helpful and friendly -there is "family parking" by the entrance, but the parking lot is also so big that you may not actually need to have a reserved space if you shop with your kids Bottom line: happy I checked out this place, but wouldn't be in a rush to go back (for reference, I love Trader Joe's and Whole Foods) read more

I started shopping here since the 2nd day of their grand opening. It was still crowded, but from what I had heard not nearly a much as the first day. I was welcomed and as I walked in, I didn't know which shopping cart to pick, lol... I say that because a row of them had a computer where a seat usually is for a baby. I thought, what the heck! Let's give it a try! After a couple minutes of confusion, zero help from staff, I did figure it out on my own. To your gen z-ers, I'm sure ya got it in seconds, haha! We call these "Dash Carts" As you start shopping with this dash cart, you can connect your dash cart to your Amazon prime account using your smart phone, and start scanning with the cart. I had trouble finding the scanner since no one helped me, but it is located directly in front on you under the handle bars. After scanning your item, then the sensors inside the shopping cart allow you to add items. This particular day, I was there for fruits and veggies.... and for Amazon Prime members, some of their special pricing can't be beat. For instance, their good size avocados were only $.89!! However I mostly noticed this in just the produce section. Other customers were watching me use this dash cart and asking me how it works. I told them I was still figuring out out, but it is very convenient once you learn the basics. Since it is a new store, I still haven't figured out the location of everything. Some things are the same prices you would find at a regular grocery store. I like that they have a hot food section available. They also have a Krispy Kreme station for those of you with a craving! While I was there on a different particular day, Amazon Fresh experienced a power outage. The registered stopped working, they couldn't ring anyone up. Thankfully, I had a Dash cart. It was still connected with everything i had scanned and I was able to select the options that I was done shopping. You need to walk through a designated section that completed my check out and I was on my way. As I walked out, they were having to turn customers away due to the power outage. Since then, it's up and running. There was another day I used their self checkout and the system is still a little wonky especially when searching for your produce, but we (the staff and I after a few minutes) eventually figured it out! I don't think I would go out of my way to shop at Amazon fresh. There were a few items in produce where the price was pretty amazing... but most of their items are the same at their competitors. The Dash Cart is neat, but there isn't enough of them. Being surrounded by major shopping stores means bigger crowds and jam packed parking lots and worth the holidays coming up... this area is going to be chaos. read more

With the vast amount of grocery stores in the greater Sacramento area, it was inevitable and only a matter of time that an "Amazon Fresh" would be getting its first brick-and-mortar location. In this case, they decided to focus their first store in the Roseville area and the first of its kind in Northern California. Located on Five Star Blvd. and adjacent to Stanford Ranch Rd., this place takes over where Toys 'R Us once stood for many years. During the morning of Thursday 8/22/2024, they finally opened their doors to the public. And to you guys reading this that live in the Elk Grove area, a second Sacramento area store will be opening on Thursday 9/12/2024. I came here a couple of days later during the evening of Saturday 8/24/2024 around 8:00pm; at least after the hype wore off a little bit. Regular store hours are 8:00am to 10:00pm 7 days a week. Parking was quite spacious as this area is very well-designed to accommodate hundreds of vehicles. And since I already have familiarity with nearby Total Wine & More and Staples, this was a breeze to find. Not to mention, Costco is only 1/2 mile away from here. I did like how well-lit this place at night to provide as safe of an experience as possible for customers. As for the inside, this place houses approximately 42,000 square feet of space. The general layout is that of a standard grocery store/supermarket and as spacious as a Whole Foods (also owned by Amazon). All of your basic food essentials are found here including meat/poultry/seafood, produce, frozen items, sauces/oils, deli items, beverages, condiments, dairy, breads, cereals, pasta, snacks, and canned goods. You will also find a generous alcohol section (beer/wine/spirits) as well as household items, baby items, toiletries, and pet items. Some of the key things you'll find here is that they have a hot food station (much like Whole Foods) as well as a dedicated Krispy Kreme station during regular business hours. However, I was somewhat disappointed with the overall prices on many key items as they were higher than competition in the area (such as Safeway, Raley's, and Winco). And many "deals" were only targeted for dedicated Amazon "Prime" members. I also wanted to add that the aisles are a bit on the smaller side and even after 8:00pm, I almost found myself nearly bumping into other people and shopping carts. Finally and this is something that will take a lot of getting used to is their "Dash Carts" which is essentially a shopping cart (that links to your Amazon account) that has a tablet built in using sensors to identify the items. No scanning involved as the funds are electronically deducted once you get near the exit door. I'm old school and prefer simplicity as this type of technology will take some getting used to. I wanted to add that these "dash carts" cannot leave leave the store. However, they also offer standard carts if you wish to purchase your items the old fashioned way. All in all, "Amazon Fresh" to me is good but not great as it is much like any standard supermarket. My rating, just an average three stars. read more

Fun place to check out but I'm not sure we'd go out of our way to return. It was a little confusing when we walked in because we had been to the Amazon Go store in Seattle and that just kept track of your purchases with all their ceiling cameras. Amazon Fresh was different. They have two types of shopping carts--some with the cool scanner and techy feature, while others are just plain carts. On a busy day, you'll have to wait for a computerized cart to be returned into the store before you start your shopping. The employee explained the process to us as she disinfected the cart. Basically you open up your Amazon app and click on the "In Store Code" that's on the top of the page (you might have to scroll to the right side). This will bring up a QR code that you scan into the shopping cart. From there, it logs you into your Amazon account and you just have to scan the items with your cart. Then when you are done shopping, you go through the area marked with green balloons--they have some kind of sensor there that will automatically ring you up as you walk through the area. A receipt will automatically be sent to your email. Quite convenient. Unique concept. There's also an option to just pay cash/CC at the check stand with an actual cashier too. Everything looked decent. Nice variety of items, lots of fresh produce, even a salad bar and hot foods section that is $8.99/lb. Might have been good when it was just brought out fresh, but when we got there closer to 6pm, the hot foods looked like they had been sitting around a little too long. Plus I'm not sure how much I trust food that can be easily contaminated by dirty hands. I would have been tempted if the food had just been brought out fresh though. In addition to the pay-by-weight sections, there's also a bakery. Nothing looked too amazing or appetizing though. It felt like a wanna be Whole Foods or Nugget but without the wow factor. There's also a Krispy Kreme inside the shop. Definitely a fun place to check out but other than the cool shopping cart, there didn't seem to be anything that stood out to us. Prices seemed about average with other grocery stores. I heard they send some people coupons in the mail, however, so that might be good inventive. It's crazy to shop here. Sometimes we're enticed to visit for the great deals they advertise, but then there's the experience....a consistently poor check out experience. I mean consistently! Every single time we've tried to use the self check, we can not get through without needing assistance and waiting for someone (or going to find someone!) to help. No wonder there is no one using them whenever we visit! Yesterday was the worst: twice the price rung up was different than the electronic displayed price at the shelves. This meant long waits for someone to help. When we did get help, the TWO women did not know how to clear the error! They had to go ask the single cashier how to do it (waiting while she finished ringing up another customer) and borrow her code slip. Then, because we wanted to verify everything with a paper receipt, that failed too. Paper jam! No one knew how the clear the jam! So we went a staff check stand to get a printed receipt - NOPE, then tried to access the electronic receipt in our Amazon account using the store wifi - NOPE. Turn off wifi staff suggested, so we did and there it was. This was in the company of two staff and the MANAGER! At least they were apologetic. Too bad they haven't been trained on the equipment. This was an odd experience. I loved being able to take back an Amazon package and get a coupon for my groceries. I also loved the dash carts. That was super cool. But the store is weird. 90% of the people in the store are employees shopping for delivery customers. With large carts and small aisles. We tried a few hot items. The cheese curds $3.99 7/10 the puzzle shaped tator tots $2.99 6/10 and a grilled ham and cheese with fig jam. 5/10. They had no pizza because oddly enough they didn't have any cheese. This feels like having access to a warehouse while the employees are working and it's weird. The prices were decent and they had some good prime deals but nothing crazy. I also found 7 bags of expired chips that they came and took off the shelf. I probably would go back only if I had to take a package back because I really like shopping with the smart cart. read more

I was in Roseville, so I decided to stop by and check this place out. They completely gutted and remodeled the former "Toys "R" Us" store, just down the block from the Roseville Costco. The place is clean, and bright inside. All of the employees were very friendly, and helpful. The store is very large, with a huge selection of pretty much anything you might be looking for. They also have a hot food section, a salad bar, and even a Krispy Kreme. There are also "Alexa" units throughout the store, where you can, for example, ask where anything is in the store, including the bathrooms. She will tell you. Prices, I would say, are around Safeway level . They have some Amazon branded items, and I hope that they get more. The prices are better, and from the Amazon branded items I bought, they are just as good as the name brand. Just in the cereal section, for example, they only had a few Amazon Brand options. They do have some good deals for prime members. When I was there, they had 12 packs of Coke products for around $10.50 each, but because I bought three, I paid only $15 total. That's pretty much a 50% discount. Not bad at all. There are 2 ways that you can shop. The traditional way, where you grab a cart, shop, and then pay at the register, or the self-checkout. The other way, is with their smart carts, known as "Dash Carts." With the dash carts, you start by scanning the QR code on your Amazon App, which links your Amazon payment method to your shopping trip. As you walk through the store, everything you take off the shelf, you scan with the barcode reader on the cart, and then you put that item into the shopping bags that are in the cart. Need more bags? Just let someone know. The cart has a scale built in, that will weigh your produce, and also, if you take something out of the cart to put back on the shelf, the cart will deduct that item from your total. You don't even have to re-scan it. At the end, you just walk through the "Dash Cart" lane at the front of the store, verify your payment on the screen, and you are done! Your receipt will show up in the "purchases" section of the Amazon webpage/app. Another yelper mentioned, that you can't take the dash carts out of the store. You can, they just ask that you leave them in the "cart return." I found the scanners built into the cart to be a bit "clunky". A few times, it took a couple of tries to scan a barcode. Hopefully this can be fixed. Saying that, I will use them again everytime I shop here. First of all, any specials or coupons available in the store, you can pull up on the cart''s touchscreen. . The big reason I like them, is that every item you purchase shows up on the screen, and you have a "running total" of what you have spent so far right on the screen. No big surprises when you check out. That, and you don't have to take everything back out of the cart to check out. You can also pick up and return Amazon packages here, order groceries for pick up, and order groceries for delivery. I like the concept. Overall, it's a great store. I'll be back. Thanks! read more

It's like a lot of other grocery stores but it has some quirks! When I went in, the produce wasn't that fresh, but some of it was really well priced! Like, I got avocados for $0.50 each. The selection wasn't incredible but it wasn't bad either. Everything was sort of middle of the road. Things to note, if you go through self checkout, you should have your Amazon code. There were a lot of people today due to the doorbuster deals for opening day and discount prices for Prime members. However, I was disappointed with the salad bar and hot food area. The soup area was a mess, especially the clam chowder, which had obviously been out for a while. The pasta/noodles were already dry, likely because they had been out too long or the warmer was too hot. Either way, it was disappointing. I was able to return an online Amazon purchase at this store, and the item was credited back to my credit card the same day. The Amazon return department is located in the front of the building with a large sign to designate their functions for handling Amazon's orders and returns. I was pleasantly surprised to see the store also consisted of a Krispy Kreme Donut shop at the entrance with tables and chairs, in addition of being a complete grocery store with fresh deli, grocery items, household items, family's essentials, pet food, etc. I can't say enough good things about the store, its cleanliness, variety of items, and helpfulness of their employees. Not gonna lie, this place is kinda .. weird? It feels strange shopping in here I can't quite pin it down. I look at the prices of everyday groceries in here like produce, meat, chips, soda, and it's all either the same price as any other store or more expensive and brands you've never heard of before - which to be fair could be good? Not really worth shelling out extra dollars just to test my luck on all the different things when I could just spend around the same amount at whole foods and be guaranteed it will taste good. Their hot food section is seemingly randomly closed at different intervals of the day which I'm guessing is to keep things "fresh" but I've rarely ever gone here and seen the hot food have anything on display for takeout. It's always empty. I also took a look at various premade meals, precut meats, deli items, and they had all either reached their expiration date or were a day from expiring. I actually found one that was a few days out from expiring but when I opened the bag when I got home, it stunk rotten! Definitely not labeling things properly so careful with any kind of prepackaged or premade food they're selling over on the deli side. Only upside really is the krispy kreme inside and the sorta cool "dashcarts" that work about 80% of the time. I used one of these during my visit and noticed it was not recognizing a decent amount of items and sometimes showed different pricing for items than what the labels showed on the shelves? Something in their software is clearly not working to sync the numbers properly. Overall, the only reason to really visit this place is for the "dashcarts" that automatically scan your stuff as you place it in the cart but the novelty of this wears off pretty quick when you notice it is pretty flawed and buggy. read more

Something is Afoot in the Amazon Isle Amazon Fresh is a convenient go-to for us as Prime members - including doing secure product pickups and returns - who can score great deals. But lately, our experiences have left us frustrated, particularly with the checkout process. Price Comparisons: Most everyday prices are noticeably higher than what you'd find at Safeway or Raley's, in the Roseville/Rocklin area. However, when deals are on - especially for Prime members - Amazon Fresh beats Winco and Walmart when you buy in small bulks. That balance could make it worth the trip, but only if the register systems would cooperate. Checkout Chaos: The real issue lies with their register and checkout systems. We've had consistent problems with prices ringing up incorrectly, whether using the "fancy" and convenient (oh, how I loved them at first) eCart or the self-checkout. Sale prices often don't register properly, leading to manual corrections or, worse, missed savings. Examples from Our Recent Trip (Dec 17 '24): a) Cheese was advertised as $2/each when buying 2 but rang up as $1.59/each x2. Score one for us - saved $0.82! b) Bacon was $3.99/each on sale, but the receipt showed $4.89. Got us there for $0.36. c) Rib roast for Prime members was listed at $23.96 but rang up at $25.34. Another $2.38 lost. d) We had another item not listed on sale, but then it was listed on sale on the receipt for $4.37 - a score, I guess, for us. Even with a $10 off coupon, the math just didn't add up - we still paid about $40. It should have been around $31. How does that happen? Amazon math, apparently. And to make matters worse, the staff couldn't - or wouldn't offer any explanation. "It's the computer's fault." I don't buy it. Humans program it; take responsibility. Fix it. Final Straw: Math isn't hard, but figuring out Amazon Fresh's checkout system seems to be. After dealing with these repeated issues and the lack of clarity, we're done with Amazon Fresh. The deals aren't worth the hassle when you can't trust the system to work as advertised. Wow, what an amazing addition to Placer County / Roseville / Rocklin! The Grand Opening of Amazon Fresh was today and it was a big hit! Great Doorbusters and Specials that run until 08/26. The Dash Cart was so cool to use! It links to your Amazon App and uses the card you have on file. You scan each item at your cart and it keeps the running total and then you walk through the Dash Cart Line and it charges your card and you are out the door. Plus this is a beautiful store and well Organized! The staff is very friendly and always said Hello when you walked by them. The management team ROCKS! I have shopped inside the store a few times now. Prices vary , as with any other store, you have to comparison shop, check if item is possible on sale at another store. I must say I have noticed, some prices are quite a bit cheaper than Safeway, and other stores around. But honestly, to many times, cheese packages I purchased have gone moldy. Expiration dates were still way out for a few weeks if not months. You also gotta check them expiration dates on items, especially the ones with sales. So nothing different from Safeway or Savemart. But I am disappointed in having purchased items and they go bad before being opened also or expiration dates not even close. Makes you wonder if there is an issue with how the groceries are either transported and not sufficiently cooled. And this wasn't even in the heat of summer. I have resorted to not buy anything refrigerated there anymore.... But that was kind of the whole point of using the sales there. Most employees are nice and helpful. I encountered one that couldn't care less. But I wont let that affect my view of the rest of the employees there. Cashiers are friendly, greet me upon entering, are helpful. We decided to check out this new grocery store. Upon walking in, I spotted the Dash Carts. They are shopping carts that scan products right into your cart and allows you to skip the checkout line. When purchasing produce, they can be weighed at the scales and a sticker will be printed out with the price. Overall, I wouldn't say there's anything that would make me want to shop here too often. This store is an ingima. They have all sorts of fairly random things in close and packed narrow aisles. If you are making recipes you might not find everything you are looking for to make it. Unlike Whole Food they are not pretending to stock healthy foods. I bought some sushiand as they just opened yesterday your would not expect the rice to be dried out. When I came into the store, I want immediately to produce using a dash cart where you scan and place the item in your cart and walk through checkout and you're all good, paid up through your Amazon prime account. Most products are competitively priced and I had a 25 percent off coupon. California asparagus would not scan so I left it in my cart until I got to the checkout assist and I got a bunch of other stuff, coupon required a $50 minimum. I have been in the market once before, but not use the dash cart and noticed the unfortunate guy in the wheelchair working there. I had spoken to him the last time and he did not acknowledge me, which was fine. Asked about the situation with the asparagus and he attempted to put it in the system. After a few minutes, he finally found it, but he said it's giving me a message that your carts overweight. My comment was it was the first item I tried to purchase and the card had nothing else in it and not full but now what looks to be your problem at Amazon and not mine. He said it wasn't his problem lol that's some quality customer service. His advice was to pay for my groceries and then pay for the asparagus separate and I said wouldn't get the discount. I asked if he could apply the discount and he said no. So yeah, I didn't buy the asparagus just on principle, but I did pay for the other hundred dollars worth of groceries. Not impressed by the lack any effort to resolve the situation in favor of the customer. He made Amazon's problem, my problem. But what to expect it's 2025. So I have to say my first experience at the Amazon fresh grocery store was amazing. I was greeted by a lovely young lady that showed me how to use the wagons. You can scan your food and place it right in the shopping bag. It was amazing. She explained everything to me. She told me the cart has a scale. The cart has three scanners. It has a computer screen that tells you what's on sale in the aisle and the prices it just really blew my mind. The food selection in the store is amazing. They even have wine. The display and the presentation of all the food was wonderful too at the end. Everything was in my cart in my bags, and I walked out and the machine scans that and automatically charges it to your Amazon Prime account.. I will come again and the lady at the front door taught me everything I know talk to her. She's super knowledgeable and helps you with everything you need. read more

Honestly, there's nothing special about this place. The carts were broken. So you're literally shop like in the regular store. Half of the things are overpriced than the other half is missing. You have to connect to their Wi-Fi in order to scan your Amazon account, which is unprotected and a public domain, which is extremely unsafe. I like that they have special pricing benefits for Prime members. However, I was expecting a quick in and out from this Amazon Fresh store, similar to the one I went to in London. I was planning to scan my membership, go in and get my purchases, then go out. I was disappointed when they did not have that feature. On top of that, they also ran out of the scanners for self-checkout carts as you shop. I hope that in order to set themselves apart from the other stores that we already love, they would improve on their self-checkout features and continue to increase the savings for Amazon/Prime members. read more

I've had mixed experiences here. The selection is acceptable with a variety of foods, beverages, toiletries, and more (the interior reminds me a lot of Smart & Final). Associates on floor and the Returns kiosk have been friendly and approachable...but twice now, I've had awful experiences with the cashier here. For technical issues and discrepancies with running the Amazon Returns QR coupon code uploaded into my wallet, I have been treated quite rudely - even chastised - for being just as frustrated by the issues that THEY fail to clarify. Leaving the store, the experience was as puzzling as it felt...combative. As an Amazon customer, I feel Amazon Fresh actively makes it a point to make non-Prime members feel unwelcome, no matter their "Shop and Save" incentive. Both experiences have soured my impression of this store - so much so, that it unfortunately outweighs the good that I have seen in store otherwise, warranting the single star (if the option were there, I'd give zero for the checkout experience alone). Needless to say, there will not be a third time to tolerate this treatment. Certainly there are better places to shop that value your dollar and time. read more

They wrote our family a raincheck after they ran out of them, by hand. There were multiple flavors of items for the raincheck and rather than write 8 rainchecks the associate offered one and asked how many- we said 25. They would not honor it, even though the associate said he wrote it- they lectured my husband as if he knew their rules- and almost refused to give him even 4. This store is unfriendly- avoid unless you want to feel bad and be humiliated in public. We are Prime members and this has been reported to corporate and I hope they handle it. Would love an apology from "Jeff" (fake name likely.). Terrible customer service!!!!! Boo. read more

Great Store, the prices are not target or Walmart prices but the prices are competitive. I also snag some great deals on water, avocados and ground beef during their grand opening sale. Also the customer service is phenomenal, not to mention the attendant that helped address my leaking bottle water pack. Great Store, great service read more

Big store, lots of different things and items to choose from... More than your typical supermarket grocer like Safeway or Save Mart. Sale items seemed competitive, although there weren't many items on sale that first week. I'll give'm more time before I switch from there other competitors. Being retired, I've got plenty of time to shop everyone. And all the competitors are within a similar proximity to each other... Walmart, Safeway, SaveMart, Sam's and Costco. Amazon Fresh seems like a good addition to my wide list of shops to visit. read more

I went in to return a product at their customer service center. I had terrible cell signal inside so the employee helping me suggested that I use their wifi. It helped! Anyhow, I was impressed by the cleanliness and organization of the store. I had not planned to shop but I decided to go up and down a few isles to compare prices from other stores. There's some wins for some prices and other items to pass on. I ended up finding a good deal on some frozen chicken tendies and some salad. Needless to say, I got myself dinner for the night! I'll definitely be back in the future. read more

This place is alot of fun. I love shopping here. Most all the food is organic. They have wild caught fish there which I love the service was really good. If you have any issue, there's plenty of staff around there to help you. The grocery store is definitely clean and put together and well stocked, and if you pay attention, a lot of things have a really good deal to them and get some good discounts... read more
