Fresh and delicious deli salads and sandwiches. Dee Dee is a lifesaver and provided extremely excellent customer service! We placed an advance order for 10 lbs. each of the Greek Orzo Salad, Basil with Sun-Dried Tomato Pasta Salad, and Chinese-Style Chicken Salad for our mother's 40-day Greek Orthodox memorial service. All salads were fresh, and everyone really enjoyed them. What really stood out for us was Dee Dee's patience and her personable customer service. We had also ordered four platters of pinwheel sandwiches from Sam's Club, and they texted us a last-minute cancellation at 6 a.m., one hour before our designated pickup time on the morning of our mother's memorial. It was such a nightmare! My sister desperately called Safeway to see if they could help us. Dee Dee was a lifesaver and calmed us both down (I called her as well, and she was very patient and friendly). Dee Dee was able to prepare two assorted meat and cheese finger sandwich platters and two assorted meat and cheese slider sandwich platters for us (around 180 sandwiches!) in about 90 minutes! My sister and I were both desperate and in highly emotional states, and Dee Dee saved our lives that day. When we arrived at Safeway, she was so warm and welcoming, and the platters she prepared were beautifully arranged. My sister wanted to give Dee Dee a gift card to thank her for saving us, but she refused to accept it and told us she hoped the rest of our day and our event would go well. She is such a wonderful person. I wish I had better, close-up pictures, but these were the only two I had. Thank you, Dee Dee. Stopped by to browse for flowers on a chill Saturday night. Went to pay and only one check stand was open. Cashier was Hayden who had a bit of an attitude. While we waited in line, she was cashing out the people in front of us. They were paying with cash and handed over a $20 bill. Hayden looked at them after getting change from the drawer for about two minutes and asked if they wanted their change back. The gal in line said yeah? with a confused look on her face. The cashier got $4 in ones and said this is the best I can do and the gal took off somewhat annoyed. We start getting rung up next and only have one item. I hand over two twenty dollar bills to cover the total and Hayden looks at me and says "I can only give you a dollar in change unless you want the rest." The remainder is three dollars and some change. I respond, "yes, I do." So then she says "okay well the line is getting too long and this is taking too long so you're going to have to go to customer service to ask for it" with an unpleasant tone and annoyance in her voice as if I'm causing this issue. She hands me a dollar with my receipt, and starts ringing up the next person. I ask "is someone aware of what I'm going there for?" Then responds with "someone eventually should be there probably" rolling her eyes and using tone again. We walk over to customer service and a supervisor walks over and says "hello, what's going on?" I respond saying "I don't know, I was told to walk here to ask for my change." The supervisor lets out a sigh and smirks and walk to the register. He asks if the cashier has no change at all, which he's told Hayden's "ringing people up." The customers behind us were told to go to customer service also and we hear them behind us talking to each other complaining about Hayden's unpreparedness and attitude. The supervisor gets the key to the office, gets change from the lock box and hands it over. As we leave, he begins to help the others in line. Hayden looked to be coming back from break before we got in line. It seemed like she did not prepare her register prior to beginning to ring up customers. The proper thing to have done would be to wait until the drawer is either switched out or replenished to ensure checkouts flow smoothly. Hayden seemed to not be in a good mood and rather make the customer experience unpleasant. She gave the impression of not wanting to put any effort into her work, which the issue had a simple solution. I understand that there are circumstances out of our control however, there was no effort taken to resolve the situation and guests were met with attitude. read more

Okay, let me just make a disclaimer that this Safeway location is incredibly organized . The merchandising department is owed some mad respect for how they display everything in the store. I am a neat freak so I can always appreciate the way the store looks. Nice customer service as well. All the workers treat you like family in a way as they remember you and always inquire how you are doing. One thing I can say though is that a lot of their produce and some of their perishable items have close to ending expiration dates on them. There have been a few times when I saw some moldy vegetables in the produce department and I had to point it out to some of the workers. Also, I had on occasion bought some items in the store that were already expired and I had to toss those items out so when shopping at this location, please look at the expiration dates before placing them in your cart. Also, because of this broken economy we live in right now (hopefully that changes soon), prices are exceedingly high so I do recommend getting the Safeway club card to save on your food purchases. Overall, not a bad Safeway location but not the greatness location either . read more

Extremely impressed. Today I went into get some fruit and the young man in the produce department was very knowledgeable and gave me an excellent recommendation on some fantastic grapes. I also was sadden to see there was a item on my list missing and this young man's willingness to make sure I was able to find what I was looking for so much as going to the back and getting me the items I needed! Location, Location, Location I shop at this Safeway because it is convenient when I need to pick up something for a potluck for work. Also, I love their $5 Friday deals. I come here mostly for the baked goods or sometimes when I need to pick up items from the produce section. This is not where I normally do my grocery shopping but I always find what I need when I shop here. Since my purchases are usually less then 5 items I pay using the self checkout. Fast and easy. There is a Starbucks inside this Safeway. Lately, I found out that this location is also a pick up place for Amazon packages. If choosing this pick up hub the name is Amazon Hub Locker - Carrot and the lockers are outside Safeway to the right of the corner entrance. Using the Safeway Loyalty Card, shop the ad & clip the weekly coupons you can buy items far cheaper than other stores. My wife stop by this Safeway on her way home today. In the past we purchased some very good Chinese food from the deli. Today's effort was very disappointing. The mushroom chicken was hard to tell exactly what it was as it was burnt beyond belief. The zucchini that comes with mushroom chicken was well past its prime. This ONE star review is for this Safeway's so called "ready made meals" which sell for around $9.00 All I can say is that the ones I have purchased are disgusting and poorly prepared. For example, one that I recently had was a chicken pasta with asparagus. The chicken was drier than leather and the asparagus they put in were the hard butts, not the delicious leafy ends. On Friday July 12 around 540PM at Roseville Pleasant Grove CA, Safeway, I unfortunately confronted a very rude and ill mannered Safeway Staff. Her problem was I defied her info that she was giving it to me. The florist had left early nd I wanted 1 stick of rose, which I was ready to pay. I had purchased the same before, but didn't remember the price. She refused to sell and was extremely rude and greeted to me in a sarcastic and loud voice. She was addressed as a manager(but was without uniform.) by another staff who was trying to help me out by selling 1 stick of the Rose flower. That so called manager said I was telling her incorrect info, and Safeway never sells just 1 stick of Rose. I don't know her name, but she was a little Black woman. The other staff apologized to me on her behalf, but the damage was made. I will never recommend anyone to go to Pleasant Grove Safeway at least, or till its a last resort. I always shop at this Safeway on Pleasant Grove as it is the close to my house. I have never had a bad customer service experience, until today, by a cashier Marisa (that's what it says on my recipt issued at 13:39 on July 20, 2020). The customer infront of me was at the end of the bagging station and I proceeded just to type in my loyalty card number, then she yelled and scolded me "Can you step away until I tell you to do so!? You are not 6ft away!". I am a person who follows the covid procedures. I always have my mask on fully, keep the distance and all. I am 9month pregnant as well so I am probably more careful than others. From the end of the bagging station till the payment keypad seemed to be enough distance.....as they do not have the measurement on the floor....now thinking back, okay maybe a little shorter than 6ft, but I do not keep a measuring tape with me when I shop. I am completely okay with people asking me to just step back a bit to keep the necessary distance. But the way the cashier Marisa yelled at me was absolutely unnecessary and uncalled for. She could have asked me in a polite manner. I work in customer service too, so I know it is not what you say....rather how you say things. And the way she talked to me was not the way to talk to customers. I am not her child....I don't know if she thinks she can talk to customers however she wants because she is a grandmother age or what. I am very uncomfortable because of my pregnancy yet made a trip to just buy grocery at my regular store.....I do not need a rude person to make my day worse. Not once have I got called out for not keeping the social distance at any store or place, because I always do keep distance....Maybe this time not exactly 6ft but enough for me to think it was about 6ft without any sign. It was very rude of her to yell at me like that for not having another 6inches away from the customer in front who was about to leave in a second, just grabbing his bags. I do appreciate Safeway stores are following the covid procedures but some workers like Marisa needs to know she is not an authority figure and just cannot talk to customers like that. I will not be returning to this particular store any more. I would rather go somewhere else not to risk getting yelled at by some old grumpy lady. read more

Came into this Safeway last week. A couple of the advertised items they were out of, even though it was Superbowl weekend and only a Thursday. I went to the Deli to get some meat and cheese. The young man working cut everything super thick (nowhere near the thickness you'd expect for a sandwich). I then went to the bakery, it looked like a tornado had hit it, most of the bins were empty, there weren't even any sandwich rolls (and this was mid day). I was going to get a loaf of sheepherders bread but I noticed how inconsistent the loaves were- some were large and some were very small- I guess depending on who baked them. Sheepherders bread shouldn't be super small, it obviously wasn't proofed long enough. Then I went to checkout. I asked the cashier how I get the "clipped deals," she wasn't really interested in explaining that to me and I still ended up paying the sales priced without the clipped deals. I left feeling like I won't want to return to this store. Too many other better options in the area. read more

Most recent experience at pharmacy was great, 180 degrees different from the last two visits which were awful, but this is the nearby location that had the vacc I needed. The employees this time were new to me. They were very courteous, kind, on time, and the person who gave the shot even asked if I had any questions -- none of which happened in two prior visits, including one where employees there refused without explanation to accept credit card payment or honor my appt, and another time when a person who did give me a shot was so surly and rude, I informed the manager. I'm a person who gives pros and cons and not to complain on yelp. As a customer for over 40 years of all Safeway stores, overall they're really good and with great customer service. This Safeway is very convenient to the residents to the area but needs work and does not live up to the Safeway standards. Pros- employees are very nice, especially in the deli section and the cashier. Store is overall clean and well stocked. Cons- the produce section is deplorable. Avocados that should have been thrown away last week, but still for sale. Broccoli, Limp. Cilantro, Rotten. Lots of empty shelf's in produce. Isles are very narrow and hard to navigate. In front of every checkout line has bulky product displays which are way too big for the narrow isle. Hard to stand in line and be out of everyone's way passing by. Shopping on a busy Sunday with one checker. Bagger was very slow because he was on his phone the whole time until the cashier shook her head at him. Some customers are cut throat with shopping carts. They are in Mach 3 not looking around corners and will run into you and look at you as if it's your fault. They will tailgate when you're moving normal 3 stars are very generous read more

Safeway in general and specifically the Safeway on Woodcreek Oaks and Blue Oaks seems to be a training ground for future DMV employees. They just don't care at all about the customer experience. I know everyone near me is excited for Nugget to open, (I know, Nugget is a little pricier but I would gladly pay the difference for the in quality products and people). Wouldn't you think Safeway Corp would move in and train their employees good customer service skills knowing customers are looking for one more reason to never shop their again. read more

Today I was in the local Safeway on Pleasant Grove Boulevard. I was in the floral department and I purchased a cute little ghost. I called back after I got home because I decided I needed a few more of them I reached that department and spoke to a very rude young lady who said to me I'm not in my department right now and I cannot help you. You just need to come in the store. She said I think we have a few you'll just have to look around to find them. I have shopped at the store for many years I was completely surprised at how rude the young lady was. good customer service would have said to me let me put you on hold I will look for them and I'll get right back to you or let me have your number and I will call you back. Very rude and the store continues to get router as time goes on. Not a happy shopper and may never shop again at the store if this continues. So hopefully Safeway will read this and make some changes with your employees. Or they're going to lose a lot of customers in the future. Because Word of mouth can be your worst customer. When customers have been waiting in line because there's only one checker, it's good customer service for the next available checker to take the next customer in lone, not the person who gets over to the next check stand the quickest. So not only did I have to wait for the checker they were calling for (who was apparently on vacation or ignoring the calls), 3 people were helped before me and I was later to work-which I wouldn't have been if the self checkout had been open or we'd been checked out in the order of arrival. This is basic customer service. It would also help to have the self checkout open for people who have only one or two items (or for people who don't want to wait for one checker to check out 10 people). read more

I've ALWAYS loved Safeway and have never had ANYONE bother me when I shop there. I don't wear a mask for medical reasons, but am conscientious to keep my distance from others. So, like many Friday evenings, I went in to get a few groceries. While at the deli,a woman, who appeared to be a manager charged at me and demanded I wear a mask. I told her I had medical reasons for not wearing one. She continued to assault me in a very aggressive and rude way. It was at that point that I noticed her own mask was put together with netting studded with rhinestones! Not a medical grade mask, but a masks that literally was see through! When I explained that her mask was clearly unsafe, she proceeded to address me with hostility. I honestly DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY a manager would come at a loyal customer in the vicious manner that she did. Also, if she's SO CONCERNED about " protecting her staff", she might want to go out and purchase some medical grade masks!! What a complete corporate moron! So to be able to continue shopping, I donned my dirty face masks that I dug out of the bottom of my purse and put it on under my chin!! I'm sure I protected SO MANY PEOPLE from the virus that has a 99.9% recovery rate!! read more

NO LONGER 24 hours, despite saying so on the door and website - we tried going on 3/24/23 around 1am. The doors at the far end were blocked by carts and the main entrance automatic doors would not open. I wouldn't be surprised if this location closes soon. It's never really busy, the prices are high in their meat department and regular household products. I really like Safeway's habanero chicken, but not from this deli location. Amazing pharmacy service. Called yesterday three times to get A prescription filled. They stated my doctor hadn't sent the prescription to the wrong pharmacy and we're waiting on confirmation And could not do anything moving forward. I had broken my leg in three places I was waiting on some painkillers so Time was of the essence. The next morning without me asking or even leaving my number the pharmacy called me and said that my prescription was ready. They went out of their way to make sure they informed me they had it without me asking them or calling them at all. I'm very pleased with the staff in the pharmacy for how they go above and beyond. The Safeway Bakery and staff on Pleasant Grove are amazing! I've ordered many birthday cakes from this location and they always turn out delicious and beautiful. Recently I ordered a Gender Reveal cake and it turned out perfect. Wanting to be surprised I showed one of the bakers the ultra sound photo of my baby and the team there was able to surprise me and my guests with blue filling on the inside for A BOY! In general this place has a few good employees but is not well run. I love the floral department here run by Mary Kate and by far does the best job in Roseville with flower arrangements and kids HS dance stuff. Other than that mediocre produce dept, always expired dairy products and constantly long lines with never enough people to take care of the customers. But I honestly don't think they care about getting the customers out of the store quickly. For me I shop here for stuff I can't get at Whole Foods and kids stuff that is just too expensive. read more
