I have been a Save Mart customer at various locations for many years and this location in particular for the past 3 or so years. First off, the parking lot and store exterior are always kept clean and the carts are brought back up regularly so they don't collect out by the cars. The interior of the store is also kept pretty much spotless. I have never seen any dirt, collected dust, or anything concerning at all. The store has a great selection in all of the departments. The produce is always kept up and looks great. I don't typically buy fresh fish here, but walking by the counter everything looks good there, and they always seems to have a good standard array. The meat counter is similar, and they also have a variety of pre-seasoned meats and such. They also have the grill there where they will cook for you - I have never used that, but it is cool to have there. All of the other departments are on point. My only criticism would be staffing at checkout. With the self-checkouts, there are fewer checkout aisles open, and those tend to get some pretty decent lines forming. I understand that adding self-checkout was a business decision to have the ability to reduce staffing, but at the same time, I would like to see them be a little more proactive with calling up additional staff when the lines form. And it is not just about how many people are in line, it is about what or how much they have to check out. (Meaning 4 people with 3-4 items each versus 1-2 people with overflowing carts to check out should be taken into consideration.) This is no way will prevent me from shopping here, just a note. Overall a great store. read more

Stanford near my home. only go in there if necessary. employees rude. obviously hate their job. Today (1:45pm) some guy who I have seen in there before dressed like a corp personality was so rude ! tried to take survey on receipt but " not available " only time the store was clean , faced and employees smiling was when I walked into an obvious day corporate was there. that same guy was annoyed that I was shopping. gezzz! read more

The male store manager looks miserable. Granted he's worked for save mart for over 20years but the vibe he gives off is very cold. Even if you "couldn't" do anything for me. Please don't make me feel like a nuisance for having a question and someone needed YOU to address it because your the store manager. The store is fine but the store manager just gave me the vibe that he was irritated for being called over to help assist me. . So if you're not in need of a store manager....i am sure you will be fine shopping there. read more

ZERO stars. Review is directed to Save Mart Co. Headqtrs. I purchased a $50 Macy's gift card at Foodmaxx(Newark), which Macy's was not able to process when used. I sent receipt + front/back of card as directed by Save Mart customer. serv. I was later asked for picture of "package" with card. Package ? Card didn't come with package. Book keeper said nothing could be done without package/backing to card. UNFAIR. Customer serv. said to me "life is unfair" This is not my error or fault & all I asked for was Save Mart to do the right thing, and honor my defective gift card. Even IF the card came with package/backing, neither the cashier nor receipt instructed me to save it in case of card defect. I gave the card + receipt as a gift to friend, which most of us do. Customer Serv. said NOW you'll know to save the package NEXT time you buy a gift card. Screwed this time. read more

never ever get their hot food. i order chicken tenders and potatoes wedges for our family dinner. thank god my daughter and husband didn't get sick...but i did. not sure if it was the potatoes or the chicken but the hot food area isn't cleaned or maintained well at all. their deli/hot foods department needs to be inspected by the health department ASAP! ‼ read more

This Save Mart has officially became my favorite!!!! So lately I've been having a hard time finding good produce . I needed some peppers & couple other thing's for my dinner. I went to a couple stores and the pepper's were extremely small and the other items I needed didn't look fresh. So I came here. It's been a while since I've been to this location. I was amazed at the produce section. It was so beautiful!!!! Fruit looked bright and plump. The peppers were nice & big . Everything was well organized & looked fresh. As I walked around the store I was very impressed with how everything looked. Very clean, well organized. Easy to find what your looking for. The deli looks so fire!! Especially the chicken. I definitely need to come back and try . Excellent customer service!! I forgot to get the name of the lady that checked me out , but she had a nice warm smile and was nice to talk to . I had to make a return the next day . I dealt with Trinton . He was very polite & helpful. Return & exchange was smooth. read more

Horrid customer service. I message customer service via the online form with all of my information for an issue with a rebate. I just get an insulting response from Christina E. who was too lazy to read or do her job. With no comment at all, not even addressing me, she just sent me instructions for what SHE was supposed to do! I had even provided all of the info. But she can't go her job so she just sent me : ... If it has been longer than 48 hours please collect the information below. (Knowing I am trans) the staff pretty much belittled me with gender harassment the entire time I was there in the store trying to shop for an order...then they took my cart away while I was looking for other items, asked me to leave as if I wasn't the one being bullied/abused (Maybe not safe for trans here) read more

Will never shop at Savemart again. They advertise cokes on sale buy two get two free everywhere. Then you get to counter to pay and they say do you have coupon. So your gimmicks failed bad I talked to my sons and all four of them agreed with me about savemart they have all had that same thing happen to them. I want everyone to know, so I'm spreading the word! I went to Winco and bought two 12 packs for less than one at Savemart so they are screwing their customers beware!!!! read more

First let me say something positive. Denise is a ray of sunshine. She is always so friendly and provides awesome customer service. Now let me get to why I gave this store a one star. The manager Adam is the absolute worst! He knows that I am the one who complained about the bathrooms. Now when he sees me in the store he looks the other way. Today I was standing at the customer service desk and he looked me dead in the eyes and walked away!! It really saddens me to hear he is now the permanent manager. I again had a need in the same ten minutes to return to the desk. Again he was standing ten feet away from me doing nothing important and turned a walked away. Honestly he just ruined my wonderful day I was having! read more

Clerks are helpful, but I wish they were like Raley's who offer help out especially when you have heavy stuff.

I have been trying for days to get assistance from their customer service regarding not being able to access my account. I have emailed them, called them and left a message and even spoke to one extremely rude individual who kept telling me it was my error and I was not signing in correctly which is absurd as I sign in to my APP and website the same every time and now it won't work nor can I seem to get any assistance from them. Very poor customer service, I guess they think they have enough customers so they don't need me so I should find somewhere else to shop where they actually treat customers with respect as this company does not. I have been shopping here for over 21 years since I've been in this area and this isn't the first time I've felt Savemart just doesn't care about their customers enough to provide decent, helpful customer service. So, ok, I get it, you want me to shop somewhere else, ok, I will. read more

Across the map, all locations get low marks for customer service. This store operates like slow dripping molasses.

They do not enforce the mask mandate but encourage the customers to take care of it. They say you can either confront the customer or call the corporate office. NEITHER of these options is helpful to the business or to the customers, who will just end up fighting. And then in the end you go to a cashier who can't even be bothered to stop their conversation with coworkers to greet you or be pleasant. This is the second grocer I have gone to with crappy cashiers in this area. Is this the norm for Modesto? read more

Is it just me or do u hate it when cashiers throw ur food. The food your going to eat. They treat it like trash being thrown aside. It really bugs me. Not only does it bother me it ruined a few products like the fruit and vegetables I buy get bruised. I wish they would treat my food like it should be not thrown like trash it grosses me out. I noticed on more then one occasion the cashiers are having their own conversations with other employees and ignore that im standing in front of them not even a hi just a total. One conversation I'm my opinion was not appropriate they were complaining about work or other employees. I know a few people that would be grateful for work. I come here a lot and it never seems to change. I kinda just ignore it and move on with my day. Bakery and deli department is kinda off, I'll be standing there and there like 6 people working not one will come to me. The deli people see me but because its not their department they don't say anything. Kinda irritating being ignored till I speak up. I still shop here because it's close to home and I dont have time to drive the other way to a different store. read more

Save Mart is somewhat expensive, but I came to this one just for House Foods brand tofu. For some reason, I can't get it in Manteca, although I haven't tried all three Save Marts in the area yet. Anywhere else in the country, Walmart has it but not here, and it's a circus in Walmart anyway. This store wasn't bad and it didn't take long to find the tofu and they had a variety of types within the House Foods brand, which was extremely helpful. The only problem was that much of it was about to reach the expiration date. Maybe there just aren't enough Asians in the vicinity? The cashier seemed almost unhappy with my purchase and asked "Is that all?" in an unhappy tone of voice. I guess I'll look closer to home and find some. read more

I shop here frequently for my job. I was headed for the yogurt fridge and a girl ( taller brown curly hair, brown eyes was restocking) I reached into the cooler to grab some yogurts and there was a cell phone laying on top of the yogurts ( no joke) I told her "Someone left their cellphone in the fridge". She says " Oh that's mine I didn't want it to over heat". I was shocked. Are you serious?? The employees here need to learn to stop talking about their personal lives at checkout too. This store has been cosmetically updated but customer service is still awful !! Two checkouts open so I'm trying to patiently wait my turn . I try to go to checkout stands that have their lights on . Low and behold , there's a checkout with his light off. People walking right up.. ignoring people that have been waiting forever. I went over to that line and told the checker his light was off. He just laughed and kept if off. Is this a thing ? They don't want to help customers? Their prices are way too high for such awful service, read more

My wife and I just moved to Modesto from New Orleans, which is arguably one of the country's food meccas, and I have to say we were impressed. This place is like Whole Foods meets the best local grocery store in town. The variety and the freshness of the produce, meat and other products available is surprisingly huge. And the prices are even better! We're close by and I know we'll be shopping here often. read more

They ruined my nephews first birthday cake I came in a week before the birthday party which was the week before I picked up the cake and I asked for something specific and they promise me if they can do that then the day of the birthday party I get a phone call telling me that they didn't have the ninja turtle (old school ninja turtles) Kim the bakery manager said she could do something different but close to the same so I get there and it was completely something different I was pissed (see pictures) they have great cakes (I mean they taste great but horrible service)as they were remaking the cake for me because it wasn't what I asked for I was taking a picture of the cake the made before there's this girl named "Lynn "behind the counter says to me are you taking pictures of us " i'm immediately defensive because first of all why in the hell will I be taking pictures of you guys and taking a picture of the cake and second why is my cake not what I specifically asked for !!!she was just rude it hasn't been the first time I came in there and she has been rude to me I come into Save mart maybe 5x a week because I live in the area and I see her at least 3x and she's always rude.....Tony the store manager was very nice and sincere I also spoke to him about Lynn. Meh, I'm rating this place slightly above average, I noticed some outdated items on the shelves and cordially notified one of the produce guys. He immediately took note and got the items off the shelf... I continued shopping, and I felt as thought he kept watching me... I was buying loads of garlic for my pre Thanksgiving prep marinade... he then kept watching me and quickly suggested I buy larger quantities of garlic rather than little packages of them. I then was asked every 2 min. from the workers there if I was ok, if I needed help... they must have thought I was a disguised quality inspector or something... Strange...I was overly catered to and overly seen throughout my shopping... It shouldn't have to be this way... read more

Ahhh Save Mart. You stores are so saturated in this area and generally lack quality, freshness, and a diversity of meat. I am frequently disappointed with your deli. Can you please get a better selection of fresh cheeses and meats? Sometimes I can't even find fresh mozzarella. And as for the meat counter... the fish never seems that fresh and is mostly thawed out and farm raised. The cuts of beef are marginal at best. Also, can we have more organic options? I know your corporate headquarters are in Modesto, but that is no reason to subject gentle Modestians to your bland supermarket. Where is Whole Foods when I need you? read more

I went to this Save mart for the first time and this cashier named Amanda gave me attitude without me saying anything. She didn't even greet me!! The chocolate cake with buttercream is super good! picked one up for a birthday, was in and out pretty quick. I am sure if you order a specialized one it will take longer though. I like Savemart. I've shopped their stores for as long as I can remember. My favorites store is the one on the corner of Oakdale and Scenic. They have a truly beautiful store with a large selection of items, quality produce and meat, and honestly the most friendly staff. The store that I am reviewing doesn't quite live up to my expectations. I'll just start by saying the layout is unlike any Savemart that I've shopped at before. Its not bad, it's just confusing. I was not pleased with my visit here today. I was in desperate need of an ATM machine since I had to pay a bill by 6PM across the street. Was told that I could get $300 dollars at any cash register. I went to the customer service area. Seemed the best place to be for just a cash transaction like that. The cashier then instructed me to wait in one of the lines for other people to buy their groceries. I had only ten minutes to get the cash and pay my bill. By the time I got to the register it was already 6. Tried to get the $300 but I was then told I had to buy something. I grabbed a candy bar and that failed also. The cashier told me it was an invalid transaction. Not declined. Invalid. So, instead of getting her manager and figuring out if I had to buy more to get it to get my cash, she basically looked at me like she couldn't help me and said sorry. Moral of this story: if you want to do business or get customer service in general, go somewhere else. read more

Love the selection and quality, but cannot stand the lack of mask enforcement. Was there yesterday and several people were brazenly shopping without mask. This was especially troubling because the store has a greeter at the entrance which, I believe, would be there to monitor mask compliance.
