We had a few minutes to kill so we decided to check this candy shoppe out. This shoppe is across the street the City Market so there's no excuse for not checking this place out. The interior is very well planned out. One area had bins of hard candies, another area had ice cream and in the middle of the room had the fudge, carmel apple and other yummy treats. My mom & I came here twice on our trip to Charleston. We had never had a praline, and they give out free samples. My mom loved it, it was too sweet for me. I went for peanut brittle, but they pride themselves on pralines. I found bags of peanut brittle in the back of the store, and I'm savoring it now. Delicious! Let me say this upfront. I adored their pralines. They were incredible!!! But overall a 3.5 fits them best and I'm not feeling a 4. The corner store is located close to the waterfront and not far from the city market. The building is attractive and in period. As soon as my family walked in warm pralines were offered and I do love a great praline. The store was busy! They offered much more than pralines, all sorts of candy and also a walk up ice cream counter. So much it was tight to maneuver. When standing in line to checkout with a single praline the register went down. Se we were asked to step over, so luckily there was two. No apology. The delay was minimal. The cost of a single praline was just under $5.50 with tax. Holy!!! Don't misunderstand it was spectacular and quality, but ouch! I probably could not resist returning for a praline on my next visit to Charleston. However maybe there is another business that holds the line on pricing and offers friendly customer service. read more

Great experience and customer service from Cayla H. at the candy kitchen today! We ordered 2 scoops in cups each and the bill was $15, however the ice cream was creamy, sweet and quality. The scoops were very large. I wanted to tip Cayla but the manager said they weren't allowed to receive tips which I thought was BS. I highly doubt the employees are making a living wage. When someone goes out of the way to give great service, the customer should be allowed to tip. read more

It's been a very long time since I've had a chance to visit the candy kitchen. While the offerings have changed slightly since my last visit, I still found plenty of delicious sweet offerings to enjoy. The candy apples are enormous and absolutely delicious. There's an entire wall of gummy candies and jelly beans in fun dispensers. The gelato selection was scrumptious. They have a generous selection of home made chocolates and fudge but I settled on the gopher which is like a turtle but huge filled with caramel and nuts. The fudge was also so yummy. They also have a huge selection of boxed and packaged candy favorites many of which are from days gone by. I have t been here in forever but we were walking around after dinner and stopped at the night market for a bit. Then we decided to get some candy for dessert. This place will satisfy any sweet tooth. They have ice cream and gelato plus walls of candy. We got some gummies, a candy apple, fudge, and the caramel cluster things with the pecans and chocolate. Surprisingly the dark chocolate one was way better compared to the less chocolatey flavor of the milk. They have a great selection but since it's in a touristy area it will definitely cost you. I've tried Savannahs Candy many times before, this location in Charleston was pretty much the same. Yes, they have more in Savannah due to the store being bigger. Great service when I visit, the staff are well trained on how to be courtesy to customers. No samples given out when I was at this location, maybe it was to late in the evening. I always purchase a few sweet treats that I don't need, Lol! Pricing is kinda on the high side, but the quality is the best. There's something about that sweet smell when you walk into a shop like this that just makes me a happy guy. Chocolate covered everything, gelato and candies are just some of the things you will find here. My kids used their own money and bought gummy type candies, some chocolates and I decided on some gelato which was smooth and creamy like gelato should be. This place has a lot going for it, but some disappointment too. The vibe is a total throwback to a time before my own. We spent $100 and so far I'm disappointed with what I tried. The dark chocolate-covered pretzels were unimpressive; the pretzels seem a bit stale, and the chocolate is nothing special. Also, no saltiness was present. My chocolate-covered Rice Krispie treat was rock hard with none of the butteriness I look for in a Rice Krispie treat. The place smelled heavenly and we ended up visiting this place on two separate occasions. Everything seemed really clean and well kept. There were a few bins were the candy was hard as a rock (no, they weren't rock candy) but I can @ them too much because I suppose its hard to keep track of inventory, especially considering the sheer amounts of candy they had. They had a section of pralines and another section where they were freshly making chocolate and other homemade candy concoctions. And absolute delightful place to check out! I thought this place was MAGICAL. It was like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. So many chocolate creations like chocolate covered Rice Krispie treats and many different kinds of fudge. We stopped in there for our 6th anniversary, which the traditional gift is candy. They had a bunch of customers in there, but we did our best to maintain social distancing. The guy behind the counter was super rude, and even with our small talk, he continued his mean attitude. At one point he snarled at me. "I can't hear you! You can just take your mask off!" We told him that we would not be doing that, quickly finished our order and left. We will not be back. The chocolate was good, but not $20/lb good. I can say that the key like truffles were delicious, and I highly recommend them. The giant Reece cup was ok, it lacked a certain quality and was a bit lackluster. The cotton candy was very good, but the fudge was a bit too sweet for us to eat. The chocolate and toffee covered brownie was to die for, though. Highly recommend that, if you feel safe being in a place that doesn't enforce mask wearing. read more

I've supported this brand for the last ten years from locations at national harbor,MD ,the Atlanta airport, Savannah, Charleston, and Nashville. A couple days ago I was in Orlando and decided to drive down to have some good ole' Charleston food. My dessert usually being my sacred pecan caramel apple. To my dismay I cut open said apple to find it completely rotten inside. With inflation the way it is, who has money to give away these days? The caramel apples are the biggest I've seen and the gelato looked so tasty, however, I settled on a gopher and it was not disappointing. My one only complaint about the tasty treat is that it needed to be a little more cooked. The caramel was way too soft, tasty, but too soft. If I wasn't so far from home I totally would've taken a few caramel apples home. The staff was nice, they just seemed like they didn't enjoy their job. Every time we are near Market street we have to make a stop here! There is so much character to this small store. They have a hugeee variety of candy and ice cream/gelato. The workers have always been very helpful and friendly when we are in. We have tried lots of their handmade chocolates and gelato. We've never gotten anything that we didn't like. My favorite part is that they have handmade sugar free pecan clusters, and that's great for when you're watching your sugar intake but still want a sweet treat. Definitely recommend! read more

We bought a couple on the top that looked ok but when we unwrapped them it was impossible to eat. The Carmel apple was very good and made it several days and 5 hours of travel in the car.
