Came in today and the ice cream was ok but the lady behind the counter wouldn't let us sample any more flavors and was visibly upset when my friend didn't purchase any ice cream (because she didn't know what it tasted like because she wasn't allowed to sample it). We were waiting at the counter for several minutes as we waited for her to finish talking to her co worker as she made eye contact with us several times. She was just as rude to the customers in line behind us. Overall just bad customer service. I work in food and bev and i honestly would never ever treat my customers like this. read more

If you have a sweet tooth, this is the place for you! Amazing selection of candies, both packaged and fresh made, served up by friendly smiling staff. One might think this place would be crazy busy with "pant tuggers" (aka children) but perhaps it was the time of day, so it was quiet as a library. Was looking forward to having a gos ice cream. The ice cream was "meh". Definitely not worth the price.

Ordered a chocolate shake which came with 1.5 scoops of ice cream. Tasted like a glass of milk with a drop of chocolate. Store was unbelievably hot with the ice cream melting. read more

Who has a sweet tooth?!? Not me, but anyone who has one should totally visit River Street Sweets when they visit the outlets in Charleston. This place has candied apples, chocolate covered pretzels, gummy bears, gummy worms, fudge, and more!! I'm not even gonna lie, I was overwhelmed when I walked in the door, but that quickly subsided and I became a big kid again. What was awesome was seeing the staff actually make the items in front of you. I have never seen fudge made before, but it was pretty cool. It was also cool seeing the pretzels get covered and drizzled. Think of it like a mini Willy Wonka shop without the Oompa Loompas! If you love pralines and/or caramel this is the place! Their original pralines and bear claws are worth a taste fresh from the store. They gave self serve candy and sugared fruit slices that are a tasty treat too! Service with a smile! Wish they delivered to Canada. Oh well will have to come back again next visit. read more

Definitely a sugar overload! It's super organized. There's an ice cream counter in the back of the store. They offer about 20 flavors. The prices are a little high. You can't beat a good sweet shop, and River Street Sweets sells specialty items without having to go downtown and find (and pay for) parking. The staff members are nice, and immediately upon walking in, offer you a praline sample. The store has all sorts of sweet items, including ice cream, chocolate covered pretzels, caramel apples, clusters, rice krispy treats, and truffles. The reason for my three star review is because the store is pricey. Yes, it is located in an outlet mall, but River Street Sweets is NOT an outlet. The packaged candy prices are double what you'd pay at a big-box store, and the ice cream is a bit steep as well- it would be $20+ for a family of four to have ice cream here. If you're looking for specialty sweets or pralines, you can't beat the convenience and quality. I bought several items, but one in particular was noteworthy, and not in a good way. The chocolate walnut fudge looked normal, but when I tried to cut off a piece with a plastic butter knife, I almost broke the knife! Despite the fact that it was super dry, I ate it anyway, and discovered that is was extremely stale. I suspect all of their fudge predates COVID 19. read more

While shopping on King Street, I discovered Market Street Sweets on King! I didn't even know they had one on King! Great place to go for candy, ice cream, pralines, fudge and more! Their pralines are heavenly, and have to be the best in town! The prices are steep for everything they sell, but I know they have to keep up with the overhead of being on King Street. I am totally disappointed I came to this store. The clerk charged my card 5 times (additional $150) for the same transaction because their system was malfunctioning. I was told the charges will drop but that was not the case, they were all applied. I called the store and again they was adamant the charges were not supposed to be applied and there was nothing they can do to fix it. I had to call my bank which took approximately 1:10 because of call volumes. This was a major inconvenience and waste of my time. read more

I don't know what its called but there is this chocolate cookie thing with pecans on it that tastes like heaven. I asked the clerk how much they were, she said "2-3$". I said okay and then got charged $4.50. Oh well it's by weight I guess. I figure there are 48 of those cookie things on each tray so it's around $200 I bet they are printing money!! This place is a dream. As soon as I walked in I was offered a sample of caramel brittle which was amazing by all accounts. They offered to help if I had any question while looking over the many selections of candy and treats. On my way out I grabbed there online catalog conveniently located on there counter. As I was looking thru it, a employee let me know that if I use there store location when ordering online, I can get free shipping. When I left, they thanked me and invited me to come again. I was planning to order an ice cream cone and pralines, but the associate working in the ice cream section went directly from cleaning out the freezer with a towel, to grabbing one glove with her bare, unwashed hand and securing the glove with the other unwashed hand.
