If you need a specific color of M&Ms for an event such as a wedding shower or party, this is also the place to come. At the counter, you can buy chocolate covered everything- pralines, Oreo cookies, rice krispy treats, truffles, the list goes on and on. They sell weigh-and-pay candy and offer every candy imaginable, including classic favorites and sugar free candy. The candy is expensive- five pieces of pre-movie candy cost over $3. If you want packaged candy to snack on, you're better off at the grocery store or gas station. They carry seasonal candy, so chocolate bunnies are popular right now. The real kicker would be if the the same company owned both businesses and everyone though they were screwing over the theater when in actuality, they were cleaning up all along. That would be some corporate next level shit huh? Anyway, they've got a great selection including everything sour, salty, and sweet to choose from. Most of the candy is done by weight and although you can go overboard, I feel like the price is pretty reasonable for getting a variety. I really miss when, back in the day, there was a cool candy store at Lenox. Alas, that was way back in the day. So, I was very happy to discover a similar but even better spot in Sweet Julep's, one of the key stores at Towne Centre. Yum, yummy, yum. When I finally tore myself out of B&N today, and hadn't had lunch - what did I do? I got candy, of course. Very NPWH and .... drumroll please.... they have my most favoritest of gummy bears et al EVER - Haribo! Those little cuties from Switzerland that just knock everyone else out of the ring. Pay by the pound ($2.75/lb) and a large selection of candy (from gummies to jelly beans to all kinds of chocolates to . . . ) and also some truffle and cupcake type choices . . . Somehow, I managed to corral myself and only spend $2.03 (that includes tax!!) so I don't feel bad about my little indulgence. If you ever find yourself in this snazzy little shopping center and are, say, tired of The Gap and Chico's and all that jazz . . .go see the folks at Sweet Julep's. My $0.02, just sayin' . . . (Oh!! I went to Sweet Juleps with my brother tonight for a few treats. Keep in mind that we are in our late 50's. I am an IT professional and he is an HR director. We were dressed casual but nice as we just came from a dinner engagement. We spent time gathering our bags full of candy and walked up to the register to pay. The young lady behind the counter snarled at us and said, "you can keep what you put in your pocket!" We had no idea what she was talking about so we asked what she meant. She said, "you put something in your left pocket." my brother and I just stared at each other in shock. We had no idea what she was talking about. We emptied pockets and pulled them inside out to show we didn't take anything. She didn't apologize or say anything. We left the candy and walked out. I pride myself on being an honest and ethical person and I am so offended by the accusation that I will never go back. We deserved an apology after such a false accusation. read more

Candy was good, service was weird! The girls behind the counter kept having to run back and ask their manager on basic questions, making the process quite long. When I asked the manager to try some white chocolate before purchasing, she said, "well I don't want to hand out a quarter pound...." Geez, sorry for inconveniencing you. I didn't ask for a quarter pound. I'm not here to jip you. The chocolate was good, and had the manager been less rude then I would have purchased more. Who doesn't love a candy shop? The owner and employees are fantastic. My bf loves the pralines (as do I), and we stop here from time to time whenever we're at Town Center. Recently, I bought a box of pralines and other chocolates for my co-workers. When I told the owner who I was buying them for a why (just because), she took it upon herself to wrap the box up with such a nice bow and to throw in the crinkly papers to lay the pralines themselves on. We stopped in here to get a bit of a sugar rush after lunch. It was a pretty large store, nicely decorated for Christmas. I think we picked up three truffles for 2 dollars and some change, not bad considering a lot of places in DC charge 2 dollars for one truffle. I think the employees at Market Street Sweets are a little bit nicer and seem to enjoy their job more but this place is pretty handy being in town center. read more

They have bins and bins and bins of candy - tons of sour things, chocolate covered pretzels/peanuts/etc, gummy worms and bears and so on.
