Definitely worth a try!! I have been there twice. I wasn't very hopeful initially since I had not heard good reviews from anyone I had spoken to. Since my favorite Thai place closed, we decided to try this place. And, we were definitely not disappointed!! Infact, we were so happy, we went back there. My favorites are the Panang Curry and the Crunchy Chicken. The portions are big enough for more than one person. They will ask you for the preferred spice level. The first time, we did not realize the spice levels were lower than expected. I ordered a 3 out of 5, and realized I could have done a 4, or maybe even, a 5. The second time, I ordered a 4 out of 5 and liked it a lot better. I can tolerate a LOT of spice, so order accordingly. Also, the manager and the servers are very nice and very attentive. I was terribly disappointed in Savanh. It took half an hour to get our order taken because the waiter didn't seem to have any sense of urgency about his job. Each of the appetizers came out separately, as did our entrees, which meant that the last dish was served almost an HOUR after the first one came out, and that one almost didn't make it because the waiter didn't put it in! The chef seems to have no idea how to moderate the heat levels of the dishes. We ordered several mild ("one-pepper") dishes that came out far too hot to eat, and four- and five-pepper dishes that had almost no heat at all. All that aside, the food was very tasty, and the pad Thai with roast duck (!) was outrageously good - but it was a lot hotter than how I ordered it. We brought this to the manager's attention; she knocked $7.00 off a bill that was well over $125.00. A pittance of a discount that didn't cover the two dishes that we couldn't eat. I really hope they get their act together, because if they don't, they will not survive long. read more

Although I still give their food a 5 star rating, we have had some poor experiences recently when dining in. Haven't had "service" more of just take your order and let your glasses remain empty. When asked to split an appetizer she told us she can't do that, when I actually use the same system at my job, and yes you can split an item. (Toast). She seemed like she could care less about us and was taking out her out of work frustrations on us. Bad service truly ruins it especially when we come here for special occasions. The same night we saw a table walk out because they were greeted and then never served after. On the raves of locals, my friend and I chose Savanh Thai Kitchen for an unplanned Sunday brunch. The restaurant is tucked away behind Waffle House, but parking was ample. Once we walked in, the oh wow, this is nice comments began. Tables are nicely prepped and spaced sufficiently for conversation and privacy. We enjoyed the knowledge of thai food and great disposition of our waiter Nick as he guided us through the incredible menu. The patrón can select spice levels, and being a spice girl, I took the 5 (1-5) on the char grilled duck. It was perfectly cooked and flavorful! My friend had the salmon curry. Both are found under "Chef Specials". Perfect wine pairings from their well rounded wine list and a few summer rolls to start us off. We did not want to leave. It was so good - I was back that same week on Friday with 2 other friends. We had veggie stir fry, sweet & sour shrimp, and Larb tofu salad with brown rice (worth the extra $). What a treat this restaurant is. We recently moved to Auburn and missed our go to Thai restaurant from our previous home. This place beats it ten times over. Our food was tasty, plated well, and not too spicy. Clay was our server and could not have been more attentive. The place as busy, but they also were sending to go orders out constantly. What you don't expect in Alabama is to have any decent ethnic cuisine. Southern food, they got it covered. BBQ, of course. Pub food, nailed it. But, Asian food? I wasn't convinced. And really it's because I had given pho a chance in Auburn last year and it the place wasn't the best. So there I am, after the Alabama/Auburn game craving something different for my taste buds after a few days of down home cooking and burgers. I also had to drive out of the craziness of post game traffic, so I head toward Opelika and do a search on Yelp. Savanh Thai pops up and I decide to give it a whirl. I walk into a space that feels very new. Fresh, clean tables seat a few customers. But that's because it's late and the crowd has probably come and gone. I order Spicy Basil Fried Rice with the hopes that they couldn't screw this up much. I was immediately wowed! The presentation was there, the flavors were there and just the right amount of spice. I thought I was in a major city somewhere eating at their Thai must-have. It was legit! After dinner, I spoke with the owner and she explained that they'd been open for several months, still very new. I thanked her for this haven that was in a rural spot in Alabama. Be very wary of Savanna Thai. I am so sorry to leave a negative review but our experience last night was so dismal. We placed our order a few minutes before 7 PM, the restaurant maybe half full and our server pleasant. We did not receive 2 of our 4 dinners until 8:30 PM - and HOUR AND A HALF later! Our sweet server had no answers for us. Why did we stay? We kept thinking the food would arrive and some rice came out early. Here's my biggest question: WHERE WAS MANAGEMENT? If you don't have staff to cook, close! Do not make your guests wait 3 X a reasonable time. If you decide to stay open, be present for them during the wait and comp the dinner! Your reputation cannot survive nights like last night. I've gotten many meals from here in the past but I won't go back anytime soon. read more

Food is good - worth the wait if you have the time. If you don't, go somewhere else. They have a sign on the door saying that your order may take 30-60 minutes to prepare, so not a great spot for lunch. That's if there aren't any orders ahead of you. If you have more than a few people in your party, expect for a plate to come out every 5-10 minutes once the kitchen gets to your table's orders. Either a small or understaffed kitchen apparently. Totally enjoy the food at Savanh THai Kitchen. I have had two of their rice bowls, the shrimp and the fried chicken. Egg roll appetizers are really delicious. Pad Thai noodles are good as well. I'd hate to write a bad review but my experience here was not good. I went there last night and ordered Crab Rangoon for my appetizer. One of my crab rangoons had a piece of a plastic bag in it. I tried to justify it in my head thinking "mistakes happen". I then got my pad Thai. It had a long black hair it in. I'd recommend whoever is in the back should wear a hairnet and be more cautious when cooking. For a $60 meal for two, I felt ripped off. Would not recommend. read more

Savanh Thai is an excellent place to eat Thai food. Food is great...very fresh, clean tasting, and well prepared. Price is reasonable especially for the portion and quality of the food. Some reviewers have reported long wait times. However my wife and I tend to avoid the busy hours. That being said I would have no problem waiting for quality food that tastes this good. Also, spices can be hot but they will cater to your tastes. Let them know when ordering. We especially enjoy the pineapple fried rice and the Tom kha soup. read more

The food here is awesome and the wait staff are as well. I've never had a bad experience and honestly the flavors are awesome. Certainly worth stopping in. Like many places in Auburn, some of the best restaurants are tucked away behind everything and you'd never even know they were there. It's so strange. I felt if the location was better this place would absolutely THRIVE. That being said, only 4 stars instead of 5 because the alcohol prices are RIDICULOUS. Like, not even a consideration. I'm not entirely sure what the reason is behind this. Maybe it's a religious thing, but from a business stand point, I feel they'd make a lot more money if they lowered their alcohol prices. I almost never drink, and this is a reason why I occasionally will pick somewhere else to go eat. It almost doesn't even impact me, but on principle alone, it's a detractor. We have been in Alabama for almost 2 years and tonight we just had one of the best meals we've had since we arrived. Savanh Thai Kitchen you are on our radar! My better half had the green curry with chicken, I had the prik pao. We started with spring rolls and crispy calamari. If you like tasty heat get the chili paste, it'll make your eyes a little steamy. The smoky garlic chili paste mixed with a little yum-yum will definitely cure what ails ya. We have been looking for good, authentic Thai food in Auburn for 20 years and we finally found it! Very clean, pleasant servers, and the best Thai food in this part of the country. My wife had Drunken Noodles and they were excellent; I had the Red Curry which was reminiscent of some of the best Thai I had in California, but better. And then we had some sticky rice with mango. Superb. Couldn't recommend this place any higher. This is not fast food, but a fresh cooked family meal should not be. The extra time is well worth the quality of the product. read more

This is a hidden gem in Auburn! The decor is very nice, and the restaurant and bathrooms are always clean. The first time my husband and I went, the server walked us through the menu and suggested various options that we might enjoy. There are a lot of food options. Many of the base dishes are vegetarian but you can add your choice of meat, seafood, or tofu; plus you can pick your own spicy level from 0-5. I love that there are endless options to how you can build your meal here. I have eaten there several times now and taken various friends, and everyone so far has been impressed. Each time I try something new, but my favorite dish so far is the pineapple fried rice, with shrimp added. The happy hour pricing is pretty great too. This place is DELICIOUS!!! We were driving from Houston towards Charlotte and I was craving Thai food and I saw this spot had good reviews. Upon entering the restaurant, I could immediately see why. I was happily greeted by Malay who took my order quickly and cordially, sat down, and within 10 mins, we had our yummy food. Sharing my experience from this evening... We arrived to a beautifully decorated, homely restaurant. I was delighted to see all the hanging lights. However, our service was less than adequately expected. Our food took quite a while to arrive to our table- having only 2 guests. Others that arrived after us received their food prior to us. When our food arrived, it was mediocre, but enjoyable. At the conclusion of our visit, we paid and requested a receipt. At the front desk, after requesting our receipt, we were harassed for not leaving a tip on the bill. The server, Nicholas H., lectured us about not leaving a tip. His tone and response was rather disrespectful and condescending, as if we have never dined at a restaurant before. After finally leaving him a tip, he told us to not return to the restaurant. It is a customer's choice to leave a tip; this is why it is optional on the bill. Bullying someone to leave a tip is inappropriate and unkind. read more

I visited Savanh for the first time today. My friend and I shared the pad ginger with chicken, pad Thai with chicken, spring rolls, and mango sticky rice. It was all delicious! The portions of rice were perfect for the entrees, which were a fair amount for $12-13. I had enough for a second meal. Our server was very attentive and polite, and the atmosphere was pleasant.
