Best Chinese takeout in Auburn! My girlfriend and I had a craving for Chinese takeout and decided upon Ming House. It was a pretty busy Friday night for the restaurant, but the very nice lady at the register gave us the best customer service I could have ever asked for. I guess she felt bad we were waiting for the food longer than expected (I truly didn't mind it was like 10 more minutes) but she gave us a side of fries to snack on and a free soda to take with us! Not to mention the food is an absolute home run! I absolutely would recommend this small family restaurant to anyone looking for an excellent Asian cuisine experience. read more

What started with a missed-left-turn going Southbound on South College turned into a voyage, crossing a sea of flavor poured into this Earth by the Ming House cooks whose names I am not worthy of uttering. Upon my arrival, I was greeted and kindly seated by the employees. The booth cushion, soft yet firm, immediately evokes memories of my father's arms carrying me as a child. I must snap out of it though, because those days are behind me and now I'm at Ming House, reading a menu which is stupendously diverse for a Chinese restaurant in Auburn, Alabama. On the menu I'm seeing a host of Chinese favorites, some Japanese, and even Vietnamese. Though I'm no simpleton; I think to myself, 'impossible'. However, after being presented the beef Phö I ordered as a test (a cry for normalcy? for life to return to its mediocre state?) I am left speechless. Like the scene in Ratatouille, I am sent back to my childhood- no, my grandfather's childhood, his memory of tasting Phö for the first time- and then back to reality. Incredible execution of this dish. The steak skewer appetizer I ordered, albeit a little pricey, was absolutely banging too. Me and my family used to go to Ming House regularly, but after the pandemic we didnt really go that much anymore. We rediscovered this place early 2023, and I believe there has been a management change. The food is a thousand times better than i remember, and the decoration of the place looks a lot better. I ordered the Sesame Chicken Combo with the Hot And Sour Soup with those crunchy noodle things (I do not know what they are called haha) and the soup came out in no time. The soup was a tiny bit cold, but that didnt matter as it was delicious. Perfectly sour with just the right amount of spice not to burn your tastebuds off. The sesame chicken came out about 5 minutes after the soup, and the sauce was a tangy, luscious red. The chicken was amazing, and the rice was perfectly fried. Overall, it was an amazing meal and i reccomend you go here either for takeout or for dine in. read more

I don't normally get Chinese food, but decided to mix it up. I got garlic chicken and lo mein and it was SO GOOD!!! I also got the egg rolls. They are small, but they give you a lot. Their menu and food items are an exact replica of every single Chinese restaurant in Auburn so if you're looking for anything new or special, you're out of luck. They don't speak much English either. Not even my boyfriend could communicate with them. The portions are plentiful. Order the teriyaki chicken while you're here. Don't be scared to order sushi here because they do it decently for a restaurant that has a random sushi menu. The San Francisco roll is alright. The Philly Roll was kind of a let down. This is one of the best counter service restaurants I've ever been to. The crab Rangoon were steaming hot, and visibly flecked with "crab." The hot and sour soup was ACTUALLY hot and sour and chock full of bamboo shoots, wood ear mushrooms and slivered pork. Portions were generous for the price. read more

Stopped in for lunch and ordered the go to Sesame Chicken and hot & sour soup. Nothing special and hot & sour was bland.

We tried the Kung Pao Chicken, Alaska Roll, Tokyo Roll, Fried Dumplings, and Egg Drop Soup. The /Kung Pao Chicken was just bad. The sauce was very gelatinous, and the fried rice accompaniment was woefully underseasoned and not good. The chicken was sparse and not very good. That being said, the fried dumplings were the best in Auburn. Slightly crisp on the outside with the remainder of the dumpling skin being stretchy with good pork on the inside. Egg Drop soup was average. Sushi rolls were mediocre... not quite enough filling, but not a whole lot of rice either so the rice wasn't totally overpowering. The two positives are extremely friendly service and very reasonable prices. For lunch, you could get a reasonable sized entree for $5.25. I'd just stay away from Kung Pao or any other extremely saucy meat dish on the menu. read more

The sushi is terrible. The fish did not taste very fresh at all. I got a rainbow roll and it was composed of only salmon with imitation crab and cucumber on the inside. The fried rice was slightly below average with sparse chicken and hardly any vegetables. Pretty good service and very reasonable pricing. That's the only reason this place got two stars. read more

My friend and I got General Tso & Honey chicken & it tasted like watered down, soggy food court food. It was really bland and the chicken portion was small (which is surprising because chinese places normally give you plenty to eat). College St. every day, I had never noticed there is a Chinese restaurant on the side with a small, business style, advertising words of their name. Even they have relative cheap price among the Chinese restaurants at Auburn, but they serve much less amount food. And the taste, you know, every this kind of C-restaurants are extremely same.
