I used to frequent Mk's before the pandemic, so when I was told to grab a bite to eat while I was in Opelika I knew where to go. As I walked in, it was just like I remembered it, minus the plastic thing separating you from the cashier. It is still a little quiet place with tables and chairs if you're wanting to dine-in. I was greeted by the young man who was serving the tables and was asked whether I wanted to dine in or out. He was really nice. I went with old faithful and decided upon the Mongolian beef and lo mien, while I got my friend honey chicken and shrimp fried rice. I've never purchased fried rice from here, so I wasn't aware that you had to buy the shrimp separately to go into the rice. Shocker. However I still purchased them. I was told 20mins. So I walked over to Kroger to grab a few things. After about 19mins I went back inside and my food wasn't ready, which was fine. So I sat inside until it was. About 35/40mins later my food had finally come out of the kitchen. I was excited because it smelled AMAZING!! When I got it to the house it was stiiiilllll hot. I grabbed an egg roll and it was the best balance between crunchy and soft and fullll of meat and veggies. My Mongolian beef on the other hand was dried out. It was as if it had been sitting for that 40mins rather than being cooked. I only ate a small portion of lo mein, as it was also not good. It did not have any flavor to it at all. Even after adding salt and soy sauce it wasn't up to par. My friend however gave his food a 5/10. Needless to say, things have changed over the years and I was highly disappointed. read more

When I went in to place my to-go order (the restaurant was not full) the lady at the counter said it would be 20 to 25 minutes I said okay, I'll wait. Placed my ordered. Walked next door and picked up another to-go order at the restaurant next door. Came back and sat down to wait on my order. Thirty minutes passed, three families received their food and finished it. Along with 4 to-go orders were picked up. I walked up to the counter and said I was just checking on my order and the lady at the counter VERY rudely stated "I told you it was going to be a wait." I then told her I no longer wanted my order then she said it was ready. Bottom line is, I waited 30 minutes and didn't not get my to-go order and the lady was VERY rude about it. I would not recommend eating here based on her response of the situation. read more

An okay takeout Chinese place. My partner and I decided to sit down and eat instead of doing takeout (there are about 9-10 tables inside if that's what you wanna do). Egg drop soup - good flavor, but it contained some vegetables like carrots, peas and corn that were undercooked. Lunch specials - good deal because it comes with a protein, steamed or fried rice and an egg roll for $7. The portions are pretty small but again, it's $7, which is kind of a good deal. But my sesame chicken tasted more like sweet and sour chicken, which isn't what I wanted. Chicken lo mein - over salted and it seemed like the noddles were fettuccine pasta as opposed to the usual lo mein. It looks like this place is pretty popular though. We drive over an hour to visit this family run business in the Tiger Town plaza area. They are the nicest people, and they can crank out the business when it all hits at the same time You can dine in, and they have all kinds of yumminess, they do just a great job with the amount of choices, the spiciness as you desire and the quality of the food and how it is plated. We were surprised the owner even recognized us, she would greet us happily and made small talk with us and if anything was ever needed, it was never an issue. We see all the different options in Opelika for dining, but honestly, we just always find our way back to MK. Very much recommended!! I always love the Kung Pao Shrimp, medium spice and the Double Delight with the shrimp and veggies in a white sauce and General Tso's combo. Yum!! I have pics I will add here soon too! read more

Good food at a reasonable price. Food prepared quickly and served piping hot. The Teriyaki chicken and Cashew chicken were delicious. They offer beef and vegetable spring rolls. Both were very tasty. The Egg Drop soup was seasoned well, but needed more eggs. Lots of regular customers were present at lunch. We look forward to trying more dishes. Service was friendly and efficient. While I do love the service, i mean absolutely lovely people, the food was really bland. However, i was quite impressed with the hot and sour soup, considering that most of the chinese places ive tried in this area have had TERRIBLE soups, this one was so delicious and thick. I wish i could say the same for the LoMein, but it was probably one of the most bland LoMeind ive had. No veggies, weird noodles, and really dry, definitely will need some sauce to spruce it up. I will probably be back though just because the owner and servers were pleasant to be served by and that soup was indeed delicious. Also, the restaurant itself is cool, can get cramped inside if theres a-lot of people seated but Ill stick to grabbing and going. read more

The best comfort food in OTown! MK's is located in Tiger Town on the hill beside Kroger. It's quaint, but with 10 four top tables, it's packed tonight. My go to is the Egg drop soup. Made without MSG, tiny kernels of corn and carrots provide a nice balance. A large feeds 3 people. It's warm and delicious. Especially when it's cold out. The shrimp lo mein is pretty good too. Garlic noodles that reheat well. Shrimp is a bit tough but crunchy and adds great texture. Pork dumplings come steamed or fried. read more

I grew up eating at this restaurant at least once a week, it easily became a staple for my family and I in our eating routine. When I left home for college I could never find a place to top this. Every time I come home I have to get at least one meal from MK's Asian Kitchen! Shy is the nicest person in the world! She has the best memory I've ever seen. MK's Asian is a small restaurant in Tiger Town that's worth stopping in for lunch sometime soon. This is traditional Asian food--prepared on the spot with fresh ingredients and expert care. None of that MSG hangover. I had Mongolian beef with steamed rice and egg rolls today. Give chopsticks a chance! It's fun and an opportunity to learn something new--but ancient. I've heard great things about this place and was ultimately disappointed. We ordered General Tso's chicken and Szechuan chicken. Both were very bland, with no amount of heat/spiciness in them. They also somehow made the General Tso's chicken taste more like fish. Edit: just cracked open the hot and sour soup -- it has zero flavor. It may be the worst I've had in Auburn. First time coming to Mks was in 2015 when our daughter started college. Coming from out of state, not knowing where to try, we came upon MKs. Now, nearly 7 years later, we HAVE to go every time we come to visit. (Auburn got in our daughters heart, she graduated and started a career and family here) Going to MKs is like going home. The service is amazing, the food is delicious. Serving size is perfect, prices are unbelievable. Highly recommend their egg foo young (with the brown sauce!! Chefs kiss!) This place definitely will NOT feed you enough especially since you know we go family style. I ordered the Shrimp Lo Mein and I left the restaurant feeling only half-filled. And since I eat bowls of chili at a time, this says something. The food is not bad. It's the best Asian food I had in Auburn since last year but that's no really saying much. The business does really well and it's really packed around dinner time on Saturday with many to-go orders. When you order any entree (except noodles), they serve it with "fried rice" but it's really just white rice and soy sauce. One of my friends got hot and sour soup which didn't taste sour nor was it hot. My other friend got won ton soup but after one sip, she put it down. Don't order soup here. The service was terrible. They did not have enough people working. You have to call for their attention or they will never come to you. This shouldn't be a problem if you want to take baby steps to experiencing an authentic Chinese restaurant. read more

I have been to many different Chinese restaurants but this is, hands down, one of the best. There are excellent choices, the usual ones and some I don't always see on menus. The lunch special was really affordable and was the perfect portion. The people in there were all very kind and cared about their customers. And the food. Oh the food. It was so fresh. I had the teriyaki chicken and my husband had the mongolian beef and both were amazing. Great food, lovely people, very affordable. The owner is what makes this place so amazing. Yes, the food is fantastic. But the owner is so involved in every aspect of her business, and she's just so nice. She caught on that I loved the fortune cookies, so she started slipping a couple of extra for me when I pay to leave. They've also never messed up my order even when I ask for strange things. I never skip the crab rangoon. They're the best that I've had anywhere. Sometimes I even get two orders, one to eat there and one to take home and re-heat in the toaster oven for later. Even just writing this review, I'm starting to crave them. My favorite thing to order for an entree is the sesame shrimp, and I have them leave off the rice (I just don't like rice). I don't know if it's the secret ingredient of the owner's love or what, but even this simple dish is leaps and bounds above ordering the same thing anywhere else in town. read more

The food was terrible! It didn't taste good, and the proportions were so small! The inside of the place was hot and they made us wait outside for a long time. The way they organized the chairs were weird, maybe it's cultural. The staff was very sweet and kind. Especially the old lady there, but i can't sugar coat it and pretend that it's good.
