I'm honestly so disappointed with my experience at China Wok. I had some friends recommend this place, saying it was the best chinese food in Columbus. It was the complete opposite. I ordered the Sweet & Sour Chicken with Steamed Rice, as well as two Egg Drop Soups for my wife and I. We got takeout, and should have inspected our order before getting home. We got two large containers of their nasty sweet & sour sauce instead of our Egg Drop Soup we paid for. The chicken was below average, but the rice was pretty good, not that you can really mess up rice. If there was a way to mess up rice, this place would. Overall, I recommend staying as far away from China Wok as possible. read more

I'm part of this local Facebook group where people ask for restaurant recommendations. A few people always recommend China Wok. I was in the area so I went by today for lunch and was not impressed at all. Service to food was very lackluster. To start with there was absolutely no one in restaurant and I asked the man if it was dine in and he said yes but order at the register first. He just kept looking at me like I was an idiot so I specifically came out and said, "I have never eaten here before." I placed my order, which I later found out while I was looking over the menu again, that I said the wrong menu number. I sat down and he simply brought a to go bag out and set it on the table. I asked again if it's dine in and he said yes. So apparently it's not really traditional dine in but they let you eat your to go order at their table. He didn't ask if I needed any packets of anything and just went straight back to play on his phone behind the register. The only thing in the bag was a napkin and super cheap plastic utensils that literally bend if you try to use them. I got up and asked for some soy sauce and then sat back down to eat. The fried rice was just downright bland even after trying to help it with one and then two packs of soy sauce. Wonon soup was the same, bland and no flavor with stale wonton strips. I couldn't even finish it. I don't even know what the chicken was. I didn't realize it but I verbally ordered D14 General Tsos chicken while also pointing to the General tso's chicken. It was supposed to be D13. D14 was honey chicken. I wasn't corrected when I said the wrong number. But it tasted nothing like General tso's chicken so maybe I got the Honey Chicken? But it didn't taste like Honey Chicken either. It was just blah. The pieces were nice and big and cooked nicely but no flavor. I don't know if it was a bad day or what. I'm going to ask the group I'm in what is supposed to be good here and give it another shot in a few weeks. read more

I ordered the Triple Delight With Black Pepper Sauce...what sauce? I'm still looking for it. This is the driest Chinese food ever. Look at my pic, look at the bowel they serve it in and you will see there is no sauce. While eating this dish the dish was so dry, the veggies are so hard, and the meat was so chewy it would get stuck in my throat. I won't be eating here again and don't believe the reviews. read more

Great fresh food. Being originally from NY I have a demanding taste for Chinese food. This is the best I have found in the area. General Tsos Chicken is made with large chicken chunks, not tiny chicken parts (who knows what part of the chicken many of the area Chinese restaurants are selling). Always crisp, fresh vegetables. The location is optimized for take out. Not a best choise for sit in restaurant. Highly recommend. read more

24 Aug 2022 at 4:22 pm; I telephoned China Wok with an order and was refused. It made me feel very Sad. I am a Senior Citizen, Grand Mother and had not eaten anything all day with the exception of a small pear and some popcorn. So you may say, I was STARVED, at this point. The person that answered the China Wok's telephone was rude, combative in nature and abusive towards me, and addressed themselves as the Restaurant's Owner, hung up the telephone on me several times, prior to placing me on a Block, Refusing to take my Calls. Refused to take my order as well. It did not matter, if I was nice, calm and hospitable to this Manager. To him I was still an African American, Black, Door Mat to him. How does this make me feel. One can only imagine. What I would like to know is WHO KEEPS THE RESTAURANT OWNERS IN CHECK ? ? ? Are they like God's and treat Consumers as they please? They make it seem like going to a Burger King or a McDonalds Restaurant is where you belong. If I ask for extra onions on my hamburger at a Burger King's Restaurant, their Manger would not tell me to go to another Restaurant to eat as the China Wok's Manager Repeatedly, Demanded. Should I ask for extra Pickles on my Hamburger, at the Mickey D's Restaurant Managers would not refuse to service me. As an African American, can this behavior not easily be viewed as inferiority? Whenever you frequent these China Wok Restaurants, whom ever you are, you are saying, you are in agreement with the Restaurant Style of Management. BEWARE THE NEXT VICTIM COULD BE YOU! Way too salty. We ordered quite a few items and everything was just ok. We asked for ice water and never got it. I had to go out to the car to get our drinks. We also fully finished all of our meals when my wife mentioned that they had never brought her shrimp egg roll. I think the employee realized this at the exact same time. We had to wait around for the egg roll to take to go after we had already finished our soup and meals. Pretty disappointing. read more

Finally tried something besides my usual order and it was equally delicious and fresh tasting! I ordered the vegetable mei fun and it wasn't exactly what I was expecting but it is tasty. My egg roll was amazing! I also really like the Kung pao and the black pepper chicken. Called in my order 30 minutes to closing and got the boneless spare ribs. Thankfully I live close and didn't feel terribly bad that they were closing soon. Got there and my order was ready. Filled to the brim of my to go container was delicious boneless spare ribs. This could have gone really bad as boneless spare ribs can get dry but these pieces of ribs were moist and succulent. Went for a late lunch today. Felt pretty safe when I walked in. No dining inside and you are separated from the staff/cashier with a counter-to-ceiling plastic curtain. Seemed clean and did not smell of airborne grease. I'm a big fan of Black pepper chicken (I know, basic) saw they had it and gave it a shot. The flavor was pretty good. The portion was fine for the price but the chicken was SOOO overcooked. I've never had it prepared deep fried (not battered) maybe some places prepare it differently. The texture was somewhere between jerky and pork cracklin's. Would have given another star if they had pulled the chicken from the fryer a couple of minutes earlier. I'll give it another shot. China Wok is consistently great! The food is good quality and they get my order right every time which is saying a lot because my order is special since I'm such a picky eater. I'm here at least once a week and sometimes more. I typically call it in and it's always ready when I arrive. Just to give you an idea of how good the food is, they were closed for 4-5 weeks in May and when they opened back the line was out the door. read more

The wife and I got Kung Pao Chicken and it was unlike any Kung Pao we had gotten elsewhere. The sauce was one we did not recognize and the dish was over-burdened with raw, chopped celery.
