Food was good. Not best but good. Service was good, fast. Pricing for Sunday is too much for the amount of food. Ambience was ok. Seemed the restaurant needs to be updated on the landlord. read more

Food was amazing. Very large portions. I've eaten there for both breakfast and lunch. Customer service was great! Highly recommend!

The hibachi (teriyaki) salmon dinner was very nice and a generous portion of salmon. The side salad lettuce was cool and crisp. This is the place to go for Salmon Hibachi (Teriyaki)! read more

Best quick Japanese food in town! Service is always super friendly and nice! Also very good prices!

Food was good but I wish I could give this place less than one star. I placed a pick up order on Yelp and low a behold I arrived to see that there is a minimum of $5 up charge compared to if you dine in or call in. It's just something about feeling fleeced and no one can tell you why. I asked about it...didn't get a answer....so I will not patronize the place again. I advise you to watch the prices read more

Not bad at all. A little on the pricey side if you are not here for lunch. Easyto get in and out of. Parking was good. Seats were new and in good condition. read more

This restaurants keep track of my orders. They are always timely and the food is delicious.

I was feeling as though I was getting sick, and I wanted some healthy food like sushi, a poke bowl, miso soup, or Ramen to get my immune system back in check. I happened to be staying about a half mile away from Japanese Express. It's exactly what I wanted: Japanese food and to-go. I walked in on a Friday night and it was completely dead. I was greeted by a young woman who tried helping me navigate through the menu. I asked if they had poke bowls, and she said she had no idea what that was. One of the Japanese woman from the restaurant came over and also didn't know what I was talking about. That was a first. So I figured, no poke for me. I knew I wanted miso soup & seaweed salad. I also chose the salmon hibachi and asked for extra ginger. They said it would take about 20 minutes. I had errands to run and went back in a half hour. My food was ready for me. There are plenty of parking spots in the lot. The prices are very fair. Everything I ordered was under $20. Which isn't bad especially considering I got a huge piece of salmon in my hibachi meal. I got back to my hotel room and opened up the food, and it was barely the right order. It was pretty much a completely different order aside from the salmon. I had asked for a seaweed salad, that never came. No extra ginger. So I basically got a piece of salmon and miso soup. It was OK, but it seemed to be cooked in an unhealthy way considering it all tasted fried in greasy oils. I would not recommend going here, try another Japanese restaurant close by. read more

Doesn't look like much from the outside but the restaurant is very clean on the inside. I ordered the 3 roll combo. The sushi was fresh and great for the price. read more

Horrible. But you know as soon as you open the togo carton and everything is slathered in Teriyaki (when you didn't order Teriyaki) that it's gonna be bad. The rice tasted like it was cooked with an old tire and cheap grease, the yum yum sauce tasted like mayo and ketchup mixed together, ginger sauce was glorified watered down soy sauce (no ginger in it at all), chicken was fatty and rubbery and the "steak" (if you can call it that) was dry and tough. Entire meal was uneatable. I hate to leave reviews like this - but when you're craving good to go hibachi and are completely disappointed by the meal, you want to save others from making the same mistake. Try if you'd like, but we will not return. read more

went here for lunch today based on reviews and because I have wanted sushi all week. Spicy tuna roll was not spicy, but tasted good. Rice was good. Veggies were cooked perfectly. I didn't care for the chicken or the sauce on it, althougth the same sauce was on the veggies and it was fine. Fried rice was decent. Would go back to try other sushi rolls. I'd take my daughter and let her try a kid's plate, too, since it's only $5. Good food portioning for a lunch plate. Spent about $11 (w discount) for sushi roll and hibachi chicken meal. this is worth it for lunch and a second visit, but I think i might be disappointed for dinner, unless perhaps the portion was a dinner sized portion. Sometimes you don't know with these places, the portion may be the same and different price only - for lunch and dinner. photos attached. If i had the hibachi again, i would ask for no sauce on my veggies and meat or get the veggie plate only. It was a slightly sweet sauce, so some might like it. I prefer savory foods. the miso soup was much better than expected. had a nice amount of mushrooms and green onions in it and it was not too salty, like some chain places. Was perfect in light of the rainy weather. read more

Just finished eating lunch here and it was delicious!! Had the spicy tuna and salmon roll and chicken fried rice. The sushi tasted fresh and I loved that it was bite size and not huge pieces! The chicken fried rice was good as well. The sauces they give you for the chicken fried rice isn't all that great. Will be back for sure....fast, friendly service and yummy!! read more

They are completely to-go establishment now due to covid. I haven't tried anything that wasn't amazing so far here. I usually get the orange chicken hibachi and husband likes their sushi. The fried rice that comes with the hibachi is super good and the sushi is very fresh- recommend the Philadelphia roll especially. I think it's the best Japanese food in town & I highly recommend supporting this local business! Not a chain like many spots in Columbus are. read more

I visit this place whenever I'm in this area for an extended period of time, I can appreciate the express aspect because ordering sushi to go from regular sushi bars takes 15-20 minute or more if they're busy, they have a LOT of combo options whether you like sushi or hibachi, they have a rewards card where I believe you get a free meal or roll (I could be wrong) after so many visits, the staff is always friendly and this location stays open pretty late on weekends and offers weekend deals as well. read more

I've been here once for dinner and ordered take out the second time for dinner and I enjoyed their food both times. I usually order their dinner bento box which comes with steamed rice or fried rice, choice of meat, 2 California sushi rolls, 1 egg roll, 2 fried dumplings and it comes with miso soup and salad. For $10.95 it's really not that bad and you get a bit of everything and it fill you up. I love their salad dressing which is this refreshing sesame ginger sauce. Their miso soup is not too salty or bland, has the right amount of seaweed and chunks of tofu. I've tried their steak, yummi chicken (deep fried) and orange chicken (deep fried). They were all pretty good and orange chicken & yummi chicken taste a bit similar. Overall, it's pretty clean inside and service is quick. If you are in the mood for some asian food and you want something quick and easy but also freshly cooked I would recommend this place. read more

Great service. This is my preferred Japanese restaurant in the area since 2017. I was afraid they would succumb to the pandemic, however they proved their innovation of safety, quality in food, care of their customer base. Truly a remarkable top Japanese restaurant. read more

Fast and consistent, which is what you want in a Japanese take-out place. I also occasionally eat-in because it's relatively quiet, mostly foot traffic. They have some unique Japanese sodas you should give a try. read more

Ordered chicken hibachi on Door Dash. First time eating at the restaurant. The chicken was dry and not edible. It had no seasoning or teriyaki sauce or anything on it! The rice had a weird taste of bacon? And I don't eat bacon so that threw me off. Overall it was not good at all. Won't be back. read more

This place is very good. It's worth to price it's very clean the staff is very nice will be back soon

This place is delicious! We have been twice now and both times everything was wonderful. Very clean restaurant, even the restrooms. The food is so tummy and you get a lot for your money. I got the hibachi chicken and my husband got the hibachi steak. Staff is very friendly! Would definitely recommend! read more

I ordered delivery through Waitr, the delivery was great, fast, accurate estimate for delivery. While my order was as described, the sushi rolls were tiny! And while the combination option sounds like a good idea, you MUST order 2 or 3 different rolls! I'd wanted 2 of the same roll, there was no possibility of doing that! Also, forcing you to order a soup, which if you don't want it, you're forced to throw away is wasteful and annoying. So, what there was of the food was good, but I won't order from them again, it just didn't live up to my expectations. read more

I walked in environment was clean. The young lady who assisted me was very kind and pleasant. I ordered a snow crab roll and it was prepared and brought out very fast. Half of my sushi pieces weren't rolled all the way and were falling apart. I also tried the honeydew bubble tea and it was okay; nothing spectacular. read more

The food is delicious! I really enjoy the sushi here, especially the J.L. roll. The atmosphere is nice, clean, and the staff is friendly.

Paid $21 for 4 very TINY rolls. I could go somewhere else and get bigger rolls for that price. Spicey tuna roll was not spicey. Rice was over cooked. Will not go back. read more

I love this place! It's fast and affordable, clean, with a super friendly cashier. I haven't tried their sushi, but the hibachi steak and vegetables is fantastic. Their yum-yum is home made and delicious. Each customer has the opportunity to try a piece of melon Japanese candy. read more

Rip off. Way too pricey! Sushi is mediocre. Very little fish in their sushi and not of good quality. You get way better from Publix for half the cost. I understand they have to pay rent but this takes it too far. I won't return read more

This is a great place to stop in for some quick, yummy food! Very friendly people who will help you if you're dragging along your toddler and don't mind if she gets rice everywhere. I have been a regular customer since they first opened, and I absolutely love it! My favorite menu item is the house special hibachi. For only $11.95 for the dinner, you get salad, fried rice, vegetables, steak, shrimp, and chicken. It's consistently good each time that I order it! If you're only in the mood for fried rice and meat(s), try the yakimesi options. I recently tried the squid salad, and it's a new favorite of mine. As far as sushi goes, the prices are great as well. I was actually skeptical about trying it at first because of the low prices, but I'm glad that I did. My favorite, no matter where I go, is always the Philadelphia rolls. Theirs are only $4.95 and awesome! The salmon is the smoked kind, which gives added flavor to the rolls. Absolutely delicious! A new favorite of mine is the dynamite roll. I tried it for the first time last night and immediately fell in love. This one is $10.95 for 8 pieces, but it's worth it! Another plus is that they are open every day and don't close until late. If you're in the area, I would suggest giving them a try. You won't be disappointed! read more
