Friday night, they had two waitresses and one cook. Yes, it was slow and they made mistakes. We helped the waitresses out by getting our own chopsticks and napkins and waving our canned drinks at them when we got our own refills so they'd know to bill us. Kinda funny how they noticed that but not when we waved at them for refills before giving up and helping ourselves. Dumplings were half empty. Come on. Make it smaller or fill it up. BULGOGIBEUSUTJEUNGOL was missing mushrooms of one type and the rest were rehydrated. This dish is expensive because using all the fresh mushrooms shown on the menu costs. Dehydrated mushrooms don't const anywhere near so much as fresh. The ol' bait and switch scam....good grief. Oh, and they overfilled the cooking dish with broth. So when it reached a boil, and boiled over onto the table, we were scrambling for napkins to control the flood. I do find it odd that so many reviews on here rave over the food. However, the waitstaff, typically one or two flustered and rushed individuals, have consistently taken an extended period to offer me a glass of water and failed to take my order promptly. Frustrated, I opted to leave. Despite my desire for Korean cuisine, I decided to give the restaurant another chance. Regrettably, my experience was disappointing once again. Ordering a bento box with beef bulgogi, chop chae, Kim Bob, white rice, fried yaki mondu, and kimchi, I was told to pick up my order in 25 minutes. Although the pick-up process went smoothly, the food was subpar. The beef was tepid and dry, as if it had been prepared days prior. The noodles were cold, clumped together, and unappetizing. The mondu was also cold and lacked sweet and sour sauce, while the Kim Bob appeared stale. Overall, the meal did not meet my expectations in terms of freshness or taste. I had hoped for a satisfying meal, but unfortunately, I was left disappointed once again. As a result, I am unsure if I will return to Koreana in the future. read more

They serve delicious lunch specials on weekdays (I believe it's 11-2 am) that comes with rice, japchae, protein (I personally love the galbi), salad, two pieces of sushi, yakimandu, and miso soup. Ok. So I'm not giving 4 stars it like it's the best Korean place ever or it's a fancy "nouvelle" Korean restaurant. But I am impressed with this humble looking place in Columbus Georgia, and it's one of the bests in the Georgia/ Alabama/ North Florida/ North Carolina region. First off, they make their own dumplings and cinnamon dessert drink (sujeonggwa)! That was so refreshing to see. I don't eat out at Korean places any more as even the ones in Atlanta are not that great.. A lot of Korean places in the north Carolina are owned and operated by Chinese. Places in Atlanta are very old fashioned and side dishes often are not great. Alabama Korean places are just not good quality. But this one was nice. I actually enjoyed most of the side dishes and asked for a refill! (They didn't have fish cake or Mayo fruit salad ..but I liked their simmered potato, radish, zucchini, and japchae.) Also the vegetables in bibimbap were properly cut and cooked. (Especially the shiitake). The ttokbokki was yummy, although a little sweet and pricey. And I liked the miso soup that was very much like old fashioned Korean miso soup (that has different soup stock - not just hondashi flavor, but a bit of old fashioned udon noodle soup flavor). I also saw they have very good relation with their customers. (Someone picked up someone else's order, but all the customers involved and owner were very patient, friendly, and pleasant to each other.) I wish I tried Koreana sooner! This place is soooo good. How do I describe it... the environment is very traditional. For example, the workers are Korean and greet you in Korean! It's OG at its finest. We ordered the brisket and Japchae noodles. I'm used to all you can eat kbbqs so the price for 1 plate was shocking to me. If I wasn't so cheap, I'd probably order more meat but I got full fine with the rice, noodles, and side dishes! At the end they served us ginger honey tea and it was delicious. I was very surprised to find a quality Korean restaurant in Columbus! I've had their BBQ menu items and their kitchen items before and both are great. Their BBQ isn't all you can eat style like you'd find in bigger cities, but for dinner for 2 the price is comparable and the quality of the meats are much better. For kitchen items, I typically order their katsu and the portion they provide is huge and I can spread it into two meals. It seems like they only have 2 or 3 servers so service can be slow, however the ladies are very nice and try to get you what you need as soon as you can. Moldy tofu and the absolute worst customer service. I was served miso soup from the large pot given to everyone. I noticed that the tofu in it looked exactly like blue cheese, a sign of mold or rot. When we brought this to the attention of the waitress, she tried to brush it off as green onion coloring. My husband had a high suspicion that she was bs'ing and tasted the tofu. He reported that it was disgusting and mushy. He has never had tofu like that, and for what it's worth, we're Asian and cook tofu all of the time. Her only response was to offer us another bowl of moldy tofu soup! We did not make a scene and asked for our check. She proceeded to ask my husband what exact race he was, and when he didn't respond, she called him a bad customer. The audacity to call him a bad customer when we paid full price for a meal with moldy tofu, we couldn't believe it. Nothing like this has ever happened to us. This restaurant is clearly highly rated because there is a lack of Korean restaurants in Columbus. So pleased to have discovered this hidden gem in Columbus! I found myself craving Korean food and decided to call for some takeout. Everything was ready within 20 minutes, neatly packaged and ready to go. The japchae came with generous morsels of beef and veggies. The entire dish was beautifully flavored - not too sweet, not too salty, not too oily. The galbi were perfectly marinated and served over a bed of onion slivers. I appreciated how there were no gristly parts - just high quality beef that disappeared within minutes because it tasted so good. Also included were 2 complementary servings of white rice, lettuce leaves for wrapping, and a generous platter of banchan (marinated bean sprouts, cucumber, kimchi, and noodles). Definitely the best Korean restaurant in the area. The 2 I've been to here pale in comparisn to Koreana. I didn't know what to expect here but once we came in and saw the tabletop grills I knew it was legit. I'm Korean and my two friends a) grew up in Korea for 13 years or b) lived in Hawaii where there are a lot of Koreans. Anyway, the place wasn't that crowded but decorated like a lot of Korean restaurants I'm used to. A lot of wood trimming with watercolor paintings as well as a cooler with beer. My Korea friend and I ordered the haemul pajun which is basically a big seafood pancake. We split it amongst the three of us and since I was the oldest I got served first-sometimes I'm a fan of tradition. The seafood was nicely done, not overly chewy; re:old and the batter was crispy but not overly doughy. The kalbi was a little pricey but since it's cook at your table it was worth it. The other places cook it in the back and bring it out to you. Which is the equivalent of getting an ice cream from the freezer when you hear the ice cream truck drive by-ok, but not the same. The kalbi here was marinated pretty lightly but still tasty and there were plenty of side dishes on hand. I am not an expert in cooking Korean bbq, the small, thin pieces are delicate and can burn quickly if not monitored. Fortunately, our waitress was friendly and on hand to basically cook for us. She definitely went above and beyond. We were well and fully stuffed but our Hawaii friend also ordered the Kimchi bokum which is kimchi sauteed with pork and surrounded by soft tofu. I expected it to be a little saltier but there wasn't as much pork in it as I would have liked. We also got many refills on kimchi and kakdugee as well as 2 more bowls of rice. I know a lot of places don't like to give out more of it but it didn't seem like a problem. Our meal ended with sujeonggwa a persimmon/cinnamon punch, such a cold a refreshing end. My friend and I wished for soju or a noraebang to make it a truly authentic Korean evening but alas, couldn't find either in the area. read more

Not a bad little hidden Jem! Wish we had found it sooner, as we thought most of the prices were fair given the variety that you get. We were in for a quick lunch stop and the their lunchbox selection was the most reasonable. I had the Bulgogi and my wife had the chicken. With all the kimchi sides and the miso soup it was very good as me and my wife picked off eachothers plates. We also got an extra order of the mandu (Korean dupplings) fried even though you get 2 with lunch boxes. Our chief complaint is the pricey can sodas. For a small business that has been weathering COVID the ladies serving were nice but obviously understaffed as they appeared to be trying to do everything and helping eachother out (there were only 2).
