I've been to Saute' on 6th several times and have enjoyed myself each time. I make a point to visit when I'm in the area for work. Located in Clarkston, WA there are 2 levels of dining. The upstairs has the kitchen and dining area. But there's also the downstairs, basement dining and bar which practically lends to a speakeasy vibe. Each time I've visited I've opted for the bar, as I'm usually dining solo. The menu is small, but the food is done so well. I also look at the specials. One time they offered an Ivory King Salmon, I've never heard of it before and looked it up. Apparently it's very rare and makes up on 5% of King Salmon species. Super glad I ordered it, it's buttery, mild flavor reminded me of black cod. But their other menu items are nothing to ignore. I've had the roasted marinated lamb, and they also offer $15 dollar pasta Wednesdays. Recently I had the Linguine with meatballs, it tasted homemade - like the Nonna's were in the kitchen! IF I have space for dessert, I usually opt for the gallette or cheesecake, both are worthy options to end a satisfying meal. We had a lovely dinner at Sauté! The upstairs dining room space is comfortable and accessible which is great. I started with an old fashioned and it was spot on, very good. For dinner I decided on some smaller plates, I ordered the shrimp crostini which was very enjoyable and just the right amount. Additionally I ordered the tomato bisque, I really enjoyed the presentation since the server came out with a small carafe of the soup and poured it into the bowl at the table, which was fun and delicious! For dessert I tried the espresso crème brûlée which was good, the top had the right sugar crack and snap, which was yummy! Will definitely be back, the service and ambiance was really enjoyable as well. read more

My Mom and I came here for dinner shortly after they opened on Saturday night. I ordered the Chicken Marsala which was fantastic. The sauce was delicious and the chicken cooked perfectly. Mom got the special of the night which was seared halibut (forgot to take pic). The piece of halibut was perfectly carmelized and crispy while the inside was soft and flakey. Her dish was also very yummy. This place is serving and presenting high end food dishes for a town that a visitor driving through would never guess would exist. Highly recommend!! read more

Yes, there is fine dining in the Lewiston/Clarkston area. My 2nd time at Sauté on 6th in a year and it did not disappoint. Just as good as the first time. I would recommend making a reservation. I really like the atmosphere. The upstairs is more modern and the downstairs feels like a speakeasy with a bar. I prefer the downstairs area, just personal preference. Service has been great. Full bar with signature cocktails as well as an extensive wine list. Food is excellent. I have had the halibut when it was a special as well as their Orecchiette pasta. Both were excellent. They also have some tasty home-made desserts. You could easily imagine finding this quality of food in some major city....I am just happy the chef/owner decided to make Clarkston home. read more

Saute' on 6th is one of the best new restaurants that I have eaten at in a number of years. We were in Clarkston from Spokane to take a boat trip in Hells Canyon. The first restaurant was packed with kids so we accidentally came upon Saute on 6th. Oh my god was it good and impressive. I live in Spokane and eat out a lot and this by far has been my best experience in a long time. My 17-year-old could not believe how could his pasta with sausage was. Great food, nice ambiance! My hubby and I usually opt to eat downstairs in the bar--everything we've tried has been wonderful but our favorite is the Orecciette Pasta--the sauce is divine! The shrimp crostini is also wonderful, great as an appetizer, but paired with a side salad also makes a great meal. Good wine selection, plus full bar and a great, friendly staff! read more

I wanted to try this fine dining establishment after many rants and raves from the locals. I chose my birthday of all days to do so and I am so pleased with my decision! The host welcomed my husband and I with a smile, let us know what the specials of the evening were then sat us at a table in their downstairs dining room. We were greeted by our server, Asia who was friendly and prompt to take our drink and entree orders. We started with the Black Pan Mushroom Fondue which was hot and full of flavor. For my entree I selected the special of the day which was Maine Scallops with Saffron rice, broccolini in a creamy sauce. Absolutely delectable! We chose the Dark Chocolate Flourless Cake for dessert and the hostess remembered we were celebrating a birthday so she brought out our desert and a big sparkler fountain! Such a spectacular touch to the already excellent experience we had. I am very pleased with Sauté on Sixth and now understand why the locals speak so highly of it! What a gem! I was looking for something just like this and here it is. I travel a lot for work and while a steak and a salad will serve most anywhere, I am always striving for a more interesting and thoughtful dining experience. First off, you must sit in the downstairs bar. It has much better ambiance and since I'm awesome you should listen to me. ( rock walls, candlelight, rustic metal and wood). Do it. I had the chef's special, pan seared scallops with linguine, tomatoes, asparagus, green beans, all sitting on top of this lovely lemon-peppery cream sauce. This chef does know their stuff. My 2nd best pan seared scallops I ever Had and for the money, these were far more affordable. Wine list is passable. The Syrah from walla walla was good and for $7ish per glass well worth it. Probably could do a bit more work on that...but I'm solo so I can't finish off a bottle by my onesie-selvies, so my options were a bit limited here. Only wish I had two stomachs so I had room to fit dessert in there. Next time I will bring a buddy to help me. This is by far my favorite place in the valley now. Dinner in Lewiston and decided to try this place with my fiancé, her son and his friends- we had our Pomeranian Roxy along bit they were very accommodating and sat us on the patio with a dish of water and a cookie for the pup! So there is a cool vibe here. You have two dining choices up stairs or down stairs. We choose down. It had a cool basement speakeasy feel. Rock walls from the foundation. At first glance at the menu the prices are high. 32$ for lamb chops. Moscow Pullman at top places are 28 and Portland and Chicago where I eat a lot is around 30$ so my reaction on some items a bit high We ordered a vegetarian dish. Rosemary polenta shiitake mushrooms, wilted greens, green lentils and tomatoes. This was 18$. A cougar gold burger, caramelized onions, roasted tomatoes pretzel bun fries 13.95. These items are not bad. A green salad 4.95 but really the items were not anything special to me. But it was good. My wife is gluten free so there is not a lot of attention to the menu on vegan or gluten free options. I'm sure if you ask maybe. But they do not broadcast it Service is ok. At one point I got up to get a menu. I forgot my napkin and it fell to floor. They saw it fall to the floor. I laid on the table until I asked for a new on after about 10 min. Wine choices ok. 4 choice red by the glass. 6 whites. The menu items. Lots of reductions and sauces. Brandy creams, wine reductions, creamy parmesan ex One down side it's noisy, the concrete floors in the basement and clumsy hands in the bar make it a noisy place. Lots of glass dropping Our food was good. I really liked the polenta dish. My wife felt it tasted to much like wine. Burger was good. Cooked as I asked under medium. My biggest complaint. Looking at the back of a refrigerator that is just a total cop out to me. Be creative hide the Back. If you want a higher end place. Be creative not lazy. We were so impressed with the offerings at Sauté, that we asked to speak to the chef to give him our compliments. What a great guy! He told us that he had honed his culinary skills in several kitchens around the country, including working for the Pappas family in Houston. We're in town visiting family and the grandparents offered to watch the kids AND offered to pay for us to go out, so we took them up on the offer and headed over to Saute. The service was very friendly and prompt. I had the orichiette pasta with tomato-basil cream sauce and crumbled Italian sausage, and my husband had the Cougar Gold burger. My dish was absolutely delicious... Rich, but not too terribly so, and it was served piping hot--the food was still warm at the last bite! I don't think I could get dinner on the table that hot. It was wonderful. The burger was also super hot and fresh... Juicy, but not messy. My husband's only complaint was that the fries were​ a little disappointing... They just weren't what he expected. By far the best restaurant in the LC Valley. Food is excellent-comparable to any Seattle or Portland establishment. The prices are right in line with what you get in quality, and cheaper than similar quality places in urban areas. It's well worth having a special meal or celebratory dinner here. Very pleasant find while visiting the Lewiston and Clarkston area for a conference. My wife ordered the Dubliner white cheddar burger and I ordered the grilled chicken Alfredo. We split a Caesar salad, I requested anchovies and they accommodated us, but it was a little too coarse. I prefer it finer but I appreciate the effort. The waitress was very knowledgeable and made some fine wine recommendations. The food was cooked perfectly and came to the table hot. Pork chop had powerfully good flavor and was cooked to perfection. Loved the peppercorns. Nice touch. Halibut special was absolutely perfection on a plate. Pricey, but worth every penny.
