This is a very fun little place in lovely downtown Clarkston. We don't get in here as often as we'd like, but whenever we have a free Saturday or need to get out on a weeknight, we head on over. The space is small, but comfortable. There are clearly a number of regulars there nearly every time we're there. Great service each time we've been in. They have a good selection of beers and I think it's the only place I can recall where I can get Harp beer on tap all the time! They have a short, but varied menu with some quite good food on it. I don't think there's a single thing I've tried that I haven't enjoyed. Do beware the jalapenos -- they do not have old or stale jalapenos. I've ordered them at different times, and they are always fresh and very hot. I'm not gonna lie -- I've had to take my sweatshirt off when eating one of the burgers with jalapenos. Was in town from Philly, read the reviews so I had to try it. Kind, fun staff that makes you feel welcomed. Nice crowd and strong drinks. Was disappointed that the kitchen was on the late night menu because we got there after ten. However, Skate , the cook came thru in the clutch! We stumbled upon Hogan's at the tail end of a 2000 mile motorcycle ride, having limped into Clarkston needing some crucial repairs. Both of the places (Also providing helpful and friendly service ) we picked up parts from directed us to Hogans. We walked inside right when the doors opened to get a cold beer and were immediately shooed away from the window seat at the bar; we were advised that another patron was on his way to take that seat and he was far more handsome than us. The service was honestly as good as service gets- friendly, quick and responsive. We had a few beers and some wings, and we were both downright charmed by all the stuff members. The food was good and the beer was cold and the whole experience felt like an ad by the Chamber of Commerce for why it might be good to just park the bikes and stay permanently in the area. And yes, the regular for whom the bartender sweetly saved a seat, was far more handsome than us. read more

The only bad thing about this fine establishment is that I literally live just shy of 1,100 miles from this place and they refuse to deliver me tasty wings and beer. I also have heard rumors of this sauce they have but again I am out of the delivery range. That said - good people work here and I will make it back one day. I would give a kidney to at least three people on staff and as a #Covid19 review despite being so far away I will do everything I can to help support this amazing spot. What a fun place! The vibe is lively and service is top notch. Grabbed dinner one night with friends and was so impressed with the food. I had a bacon cheeseburger. The burger was cooked well, they did not skimp on quality, toppings or condiments. The fries were tasty and hot! My friend grabbed the hummus plate and it was yummy, too. Wife and I shared the bite size. We ordered it med. rare and it was perfect! It was flavorful and tender. Came with a dinner salad (we order a second one) and we chose the baked potato. A great pub with wonderful food! The staff is as awesome as you could ever hope for. Get you dinner order in early (small, busy, kitchen). The chicken stripes and fries are to die for! As are a lot of the other food items offered here. Drinks are strong and a lot of different beers are offered. Bathrooms have always been clean. Tables and floors clean as well. The only downside is when it gets busy in there later in the night and on weekends, trying to get a drink refill or the check to cash out usually takes quite a long time. When I come back home to visit, this is typically my first stop. My friends have been coming here (and working here) for years. I saw my first show here, had my first drink here, etc. Honestly, a wonderful establishment with lots of history and character. The food is on-time. Especially the bite-sized steak and the blue moon Burger. Their bartenders can make a mean drink. The regulars are cool as hell. Really, it doesn't get any better than this. A few years back, the place got a few new coats of paint, but the vibe is still the same... awesome. Every single home visit brings me to Hogan's. It's the "go to" meet-up place for mini reunions, or for people who want to hear some fun live music. If you know the LC Valley area in general, you won't believe the oasis of artsy/underground culture that exists at Hogan's. Even so, if a bunch of camouflage walked into the room, I don't think there'd be a problem, because people go to Hogan's for a laid-back good time, not to talk about political beliefs or religious affiliation. Walked in and immediately felt at home. It's definitely a local favorite. Great Beer selection. They make their own Blue cheese dressing -- you should try it! I had their hogans bites ... It's simply marinated steak. I am a snob when it comes to steak -- a good piece of meat should never be marinated. With that said, it was a nice marinade -- just not for me. I will never return to this place. I have gave it several chances. The gals that work there have been rude to me every time I've been in. The staff is very un-professional. The first and second time I was there, they were rude and acted like it was a chore to wait on me. Despice the 45-60 min wait for a cheeseburger, my food was good both times, so I decided to give it another chance a few months later. It was moderately busy, I ordered a burger and set a timer. An hour and ten minutes after I ordered food. I finally asked what the deal was on my food. The server responded very rudely by informing me that they were "small town" and that the food would come out when it was ready.
