Great store. Produce is always fresh and well priced. Meat section always has amazing cuts for good prices as well. Deli is always busy but they have several girls working there at once so service is alway prompt. Their canned and jarred items are the real prize though! So many jam selections and even sugar free options, homemade peanut butter, pickled veggies, baking products and an entire aisle of herbs and spices and dip mixes. Been visiting Sauder's in Seneca Falls since a friend of mine told me to try it for canning supplies and spices. Ths store is mobbed on Saturday's but they have some unique items and bulk that you would have to go to multiple stores to find; all conveniently in one place. They have the best Amish Roll butter in 2 lb rolls. It is still pasteurized but getting raw butter only comes directly from your own cow or goat these days! Bulk items in bags do not list some important information that I would like to have on hand like country of origin, whether it is GMO-free, Organic...things like that are missing so I try to not buy these items as much as the fresh items. Also, produce is not listed with whether it is sprayed with pesticides. I really don't rely on the "organic" seal anymore because that is all regulation and $$ driven anyway. I do like to know if the produce is sprayed with chemical pesticides versus natural remedies, etc. When in doubt, I don't buy it. This is one of the few places however that I can find milk that is not homogenized - and I LOVE that! I can deal with the pasteurization but the homogenization is not good. I also like to see that the milk is hormone and antibiotic free. These days, you have to be an educated consumer and make healthier choices for your family and what they are consuming because there are so many industrial pollutants (heavy metals) as well as nutrient leaching practices and all these contribute to many of the health issues people are plagued with today. Overall, I find the wholesome practices of the mennonites inspiring and try to emulate some of the practices at home in an effort to reduce our carbon footprint and get back to more sustainable living. I also like knowing that the money I spend (vote with your dollars...we have to power to induce change this way) is not going to some big box store owned by corporations and outside interests but to family owned and operated businesses who circulate it back into the community and provide value-added services locally. read more

Being from Texas, I've never seen anything quite like a Mennonite country store. I'm used to Whole Foods being a corporation rather than a small part of a much more comprehensive and impressive ethos. Here local and organic aren't fadish buzzwords but simply what's implied by an agrarian, simple, communal, and Christian way of life. They provide whole foods to people who still cook and bake on a daily basis and who can't afford to make it their whole paycheck. I was impressed by the extensive baking and spice selection, the large deli counter, and the selection of fresh produce. read more

Fun little place, but I was expecting more of a little country store versus a grocery type store.

Great selection of baked goods, jams, fresh veggies, etc. Plemtiful parking too. My only wish is that they put overhead signs so it is easier to find items. I will return even though it a long ride from Rochester. read more

We visit Central NY from SE Ohio periodically, and hardly ever miss Saunders! It's a wonderful source of food and many things "country." We've been introduced to many new products there. Best store ever! You can buy fresh veggies, they have real butchers at the meat counter who won't hesitate to cut whatever you want, and the subs are phenomenal! While the weekends are busy, they have samples to try everywhere you turn. They are also open late a couple nights a week. and we get great prices on 5 gallon water jugs! I really enjoy Sauder's, they have so many items that you can't get in other grocery stores. Also, many of their prices are more reasonable than other stores. I would recommend that you coming Monday thru Friday, if you can, as Sauder's is packed with shoppers on Saturday. The employees are so kind and take the time to answer your questions. Sauder's has a really extensive line of baking supplies, bulk foods, and many interesting and unusual grocery items. The deli counter is better than anyplace else...not the biggest, just the best. I always buy their breads and pies. They have a great selection of cheese and packaged meats too. There are always 2-3 sample stations set up. It is well-lit, clean, and always fully stocked. And there is a large department that sells books, greeting cards, and inspirational items...don't miss that. Check-out makes Wegman's and Tops look like something from the last century... speedy, efficient, and genuinely friendly people. Park 50 feet from the door... no mile-long hikes in a dark parking lot. read more

This place is just awesome. Everything is fresh, well priced below local grocers and it is sooooooo clean! They carry local produce, hard to find canning and preserving supplies, as well as a huge variety of spices, cereals, soup mixes, and the list goes on. They also have a deli counter and the meats are deicious. It's well worth the trip. A little hard to find but---exit the NYS Thruway at route 414. Travel south on 414 until you come to route 5---go straight over the little bridge and turn left. The market is about 1/2 mile up on the right. Most shoppers would never put "Amish" and "superstore" in the same sentence. Well, disavow yourself of that notion because Sauders is exactly that. My husband and I made our first but by no means last visit yesterday even though we live 1.5 hours away. As others have written, prices are fair, quality is very high, selection in most categories is mind-boggling. You'll see and buy things you never know you needed or wanted and you'll happily pay much less than the other sacred cows called Wegman's and Trader Joe's. read more

I go every time I am in town. Their jelly is made with real sugar rather than high fructose corn syrup. There prices are excellent.

Bought rolls and bagels and the rolls were stale when tried them that day and the bagels were molding by the next day. Not much to say on the freshness of their bakery products. read more

Our seniors took a bus trip to Sauders; itwas a first-time visit for most of us. I'm sure we will want to go back. The store had many specialty items to choose and the prices were reasonable. The food in the cafe was exceptional! I'm sure I'll want to take a road trip back there this summer. read more

My husband and I just returned from our first trip to Sauders. It was very busy and very impressive UNTIL we got to the check out. We had three items and on our way to the Express check-out we were cut off by two nicely dressed women in their 50's or 60's. They had over 50 items, maybe more. The counter could not accommodate them since it was designed for 15 items or less. They used the plastic bag stash at the counter and we waited and waited. One paid by credit card/debit and the other by cash. It was confusing and the one paying cash almost got away without paying. The young girl on the cash register was very good and "reminded" her she didn't pay. In short, we try to play by the rules as did the five people lined up behind us who each had 1 items and we expect others to do so too. Enforce the 15 items or less rule in the Express Line check out. Those two women were way, way, way over the line and I believe they knew it. Please enforce the Express Line check out ESPECIALLY when it isn't a close call. read more

Very few organics in this store, mostly regular crap, probably all gmo and I am sorry to say that I do not trust this store because of the condition in which I saw the deli cold storage unit one morning when they were changing the paper. It was full of old rotten meat. They just covered it up with new white paper. That's when they lost me. I only go there for one item and that Bragg's ACV. read more

New and clean building. I thought the Cafe food was average but my friends tell me above average. Nice atmosphere. Sauders has made a reputation for itself and attracts fans from far away. I prefer Wegmans but Sauders improving. read more

I always go to Sauder's to get my produce. I like to buy locally grown as much as possible. On July 1 I was very excited to see they had local strawberries at a fairly good price. On the top of the container were perfect looking strawberries but once you got down you see that they filled the container with crappy ones. I was very disappointed and I do not expect this type of quality or deceitfulness from Sauder's. read more
