Sauced is a really cool neighborhood spot/natural wine bar. It's pretty small & cozy, but they also have a really nice outdoor patio if it's too busy inside. I really liked how the bartender allows you to try some wine samplings before committing. I wish that they had more options on the beverage front, but it was still a cool vibe. Love love loved this place! Came here for some after dinner drinks and that there were tons of seating areas. The backyard area is the star of the show we sat on some of the floor pillows surrounded by cute lights. I asked for an off dry wine and I was not disappointed! We came in a bit early on a Saturday evening. They had a big space open and let us sit down even without a reservation. That said we got kicked out certainly before any reservation actually showed up which was a little annoying. I like that they do some of the thinking for you and guide you to a certain couple wines. That said, I was perhaps a little surprised that we were only given just two options - maybe cuz we said dry white wines are our preference - but I guess I wasn't complaining as one of the two selections was very much up my alley, very tasty. Popped by here after dinner at St. Anselm one night because it was a quick walk. It was pretty empty at first on a Sunday evening but filled up as the evening went on. Sauced was...interesting. For a random Tuesday night it was very busy and lively, with a super diverse and funky music playlist going on. Here's the thing...they ONLY have wine, despite it looking like a full service bar (as they say, looks can be deceiving), AND...they don't have a wine menu. You tell the server what you like and they will bring you a glass. I said I like whites on the sweeter side, so when my glass arrived, the server asked if I liked it. I said "it's fine," because it was, it was white, fruity, and slightly sweet, and he said to me "if it's only 'just fine' I will bring you another wine to try." Now THAT is service. I didn't try another wine FYI, mine was good. Also regarding the space itself, the front it looks like any wine bar, however, there's also a back room that's super dark and looks like a club. To be honest, I didn't realize this place was a restaurant until I saw the daylight photos here on Yelp. On a chaotic Friday night, this place looked like any other dive bar, albeit with a bit more wood paneling. It certainly pulsed and throbbed like a dive bar, with the crazy loud music matched only by crazy loud women in crazy short skirts getting--I suppose--crazy loud sauced. With a group reservation for 10, we were squashed into a weird long table in the world's most claustrophobic alcove, just under a speaker blasting so loudly, it was impossible to hear beyond the person next to you. All the small plates were fine, but nothing to write home about, and the wines we had were also...fine. Maybe my sense of taste was temporarily dulled by my sense of hearing being put on blast (literally). I genuinely don't know how I survived the next two hours, but thankfully my hearing is intact. The Jennns on the loose were sent here after stumbling into Loosie Rouge. A friendly staff member there recommended we check this place out as the drinks we wanted at Rouge were no longer offered. We headed around the corner where Sauce welcomed us with open arms. It was their soft opening so still a lot to do before (little odds and ends like adding coat hooks under the bar and finishing decorating the karaoke room). Sauce is offering new snazzy biodynamic wines (guaranteed no hangover, lol) and a menu that rotates different offerings every other day or so. The bartender was super friendly and let us sample a number of reds before pouring our glasses. I don't know what I had, but it was good, bold and well-rounded. We also ordered a cheese and meat plate. The owner was there and he had us try the beef tongue. Not really my speed, but I tried it nonetheless. The meat and cheese was plentiful and was served with yummy toasted focaccia and honey. This bar is the same owner as Loosie Rouge as well as another bar that I can't remember. He was super friendly and welcomed our feedback on the new space. The interior was cozy and welcoming; I am positive they will succeed with their new venture. I live close by and every time I walk by in the evening, it's popping. I came with a girlfriend around 6 pm on Tuesday and got a table immediately. They serve French wines, no drink menu, but you mention what you like and your server brings you a glass. My server picked a good one for me on the second try (Mosquito white wine - 4.6/5) Pretty fun vibe, sooo many dates happening. There's also a low key disco / nightclub vibe in the back (again, all couples or dates). They serve a nice tapas style menu - got the cheese board (4/5) and it came with awesome burrata. Low point was having to ask for water 3 times over an hour and finally getting some at the end. I would come back to see how it evolves, and to check out the patio when it gets warm. read more

The pictures of the backyard drew me in and after an early Friday afternoon stop here, Sauced didn't disappoint! The backyard is spacious, with some tables and a platform area with cushions under a tree. We sat on the platform and were able to be spaced out well from others. Instead of the usual wine menu, the server asked what we liked and brought out some recommendations for us to taste. We started with white and then went rose based on a beautiful deep red wine we saw a table next to us order. The natural wines are fizzy and complex, without being too sweet! For food we tried the grilled cheese which is flavor heavy with butter and mustard (no complaints). The pickled squash had an interesting, star anise like flavor. One small warning: seems like flies also love natural wine! Given the backyard setting this can mean you'll draw a few. In my case one flew into my rose and managed to swim around a bit before flying out haha. If you're in the back, maybe cover your drink with a napkin. read more

There is smaller more intimate seating inside and also a private like room in the back that is almost completely separate from the rest of the space, with dark red ambiance and candle lit tables. Very romantic! Then the backyard is very chill. Some table seating, some floor/ cushion seating, a swing chair in the middle of it. They do have small bites as well, dips and charcuterie, but I saw someone eating it as he was making it, with no gloves on! So I do not recommend getting food from here. read more

9 months ago this was a 5 star rating...but as most things Williamsburg, it blew up on tiktok. And now it's pretty trashy. The servers who last summer were delightful and friendly and casual are now rush and frantic as a result of overcrowding. There's a bouncer who sits out front and is obnoxious. The wine is fine but the ambiance which made this place phenomenal has gone to hell. Hopefully it's a place that has its day in the sun and fades back to what it used to be instead of a 21 year old's bar that takes it self waaaayyy too seriously read more

So you don't know what you are getting, prices etc But we tried a few wines and everything single one was really good. Food is at least as good as the wines but it's only to nibble. Early in the fall, I took myself out to Sauced on a Friday night in my quest to enjoy more wine bars. As a party of one, I snagged a seat at the bar and held it down all night--I even made friends with the various parties that came and went next to me. There's no official wine list at Sauced--instead you chat with staff (who are super knowledgeable) about what you like, and they suggest wines for you. I started off with a glass of the only sparkling wine that was by the glass that night, and moved on to a light red and a fun orange (or skin contact if you're gonna be like that) wine. I loved all the wine I tried that night, even bought a bottle of the orange the next day when I saw it at my local wine shop (Contatto, don't sleep on it!) I also had the focaccia because wine alone can't sustain me. The food menu is small but perfect for snacking as you sip. The playlist was late 90's-early 2000 hip hop and it made the wine even more enjoyable. The vibe was fun, almost like a chill basement party but I could see this place getting real wild on the right night. The backyard looked cute for warmer weather, and there's a backroom for private parties. Great people watching, especially "nano influencer" types (you know exactly who I'm talking about). The food was amazing and the wine was outstanding! The service was atrocious! The servers were so rude to me and we extremely stingy when it came to the food and charcuterie bread. They ignored my friend for almost a half an hour before they took her order, then why they finally got around to her, they asked, "what do you want, sir?" Rude people behind the counter. Review during Covid! Came here last night with my boyfriend for a glass of wine before dinner. I was looking forward to trying out this place, especially when I saw the photos of the backyard. Unfortunately, when we arrived the backyard was at full capacity and we had to sit out front. The outdoor area in the front is very cute, it's like a wooden gazebo with benches and pillows. Distance between tables is okay. Our server was great, he asked for our preferences and had us try several different wines so we could choose ours. I picked a young Dolcetto, I'm not used to young wines because my family prefers aged ones, so it was interesting to try this funky, lightly fizzy red. My boyfriend had a French red I don't recall. We ordered the burrata with peaches, heirloom tomatoes, and cherry vinaigrette. As an Italian, I think the delicate burrata got lost in all the oil and acidic flavors of the dish. It's an ok dish, but it didn't pay respect to the main ingredient in my opinion. I'm giving 3 stars because the wine was good and the service was great, but the food was just ok and the place is quite pricey! I paid almost 50 bucks (after tax and tip) for 2 glasses of wine and an appetizer...it seems a bit much to me. I'll go back and try the Patio experience though! read more

I had been wanting to try this place out for a while after hearing about it a few months ago. I am going to be as objective as possible about this review, and I truly hope no one ever experiences the level of gender discrimination and harassment that my friends and I experienced while at this establishment. The Good: The ambiance is amazing, the back patio was lovely. They had a really nice natural wine selection and the female waitresses were extremely nice. The Bad: This all happened on Saturday, 7/29/23-- While sitting outside on the back patio, on the weathered and worn outdoor furniture, my friend placed her foot on a chair, so one of her feet was on the ground and the other one was folded on the chair. The security/doorman in a very hostile tone commanded her to remove her foot from the chair, which she did without issue and apologetically. It began to rain and we went inside briefly. When the rain stopped, we decided to sit in the front outdoor seating area. The seating area had plenty of seating, which is all white with back rests. At the one table we wanted to sit at, there was an odd looking black footstool, which I decided to switch out with one of the white chairs. Immediately, the security/doorman said in a very hostile tone, NO you cannot switch out chairs. PUT IT BACK. I said, but there is no one else here? and these are empty? and I would like to rest my back. NO, he commanded once again, at which point I asked him what his problem was. However, instead of arguing with him, I said okay its no problem I will sit on the black stool. I just wanted to enjoy the day with my girlfriends. Anyways, here is where things escalated. Another man came along and sat at the table next to us and placed his dog on a chair. My friends and I all looked at each other said hmm... lets wait and see if the security says anything to this man about his dog. We waited.. and waited... and waited. Nothing. So, just to confirm our suspicions about us being targeted by security, my friend decided to put her foot up on the chair. And almost IMMEDIATELY, here came security again, harassing my friend. We pointed out to him how it was interesting that the man next to us fully has his entire dog on a chair and yet nothing. It was not until we pointed this out that he nicely asked the man to move his dog. We were all baffled and could not believe the blatant harassment that we were experiencing. We confronted security and said you have been harassing and targeting our group since we got here. We spent almost $400 collectively as a group at this establishment. We asked to speak with management, and we got the run around. One person said he was the manager, someone else claimed he actually wasn't. No wanted to hear us out, or rather, one person did but didn't really care. In the end, security told us to leave or he is calling the police. We were in shock. And then one of the male workers claimed we put our feet on the table and said that we barely spent any money there LOL which is laughable because we quite literally, have receipts. Security also proceeded to threaten my friend that he was going to "slap the shit out of her" if she doesnt get out his face. We have video. We have receipts. And if the establishment has video surveillance which I hope it does, they can see precisely how things unfolded. So all in all, if you like natural wine and gender discrimination and harassment, this place is for you. The security guard clearly has a problem with women, and I truly hope he gets help. I hope this review helps. Definitely hit this place up if you want a traumatic day out with your girlfriends! 1 Star for the natural wine selection! read more

We went with the waitress' recommendation for orange wine, which turned out to be so delicious. Not sure where to start. 1. I think this was the worst customer service experience I have ever had. The initial Reservation was for 8 people, however we had 2 extra people, there were no chairs available. The waiter didn't seem to care, told us: "we don't have chairs, your reservation was for 8 people" and that was it. He didn't even try to be accommodating or nice about it. One hour later we finally got a chair because people left at the nearest table. 2. 50% of the menu was sold out at 8pm. There was a vegan option that was supposed a surprise from the Chef. When I saw it, I thought it was a joke. Vegan option was tomatoes topped with some olive oil, Herbs and salt. Are you serious ? 3. The chef came out to tell us that they were closing at 11pm, took off his mask and started smoking a cigarette in front of the table while having a conversation with us. This is a COVID time. Smoking a cigarette before your customers ? I won't be back and please avoid this place at any cost.
