As a touring artist this is my favorite venue in the country. I tip my hat to Brian Teasley, Daniel Farris and Charlie Smith for making a dream venue come true. The staff was wonderful to me and my crew. The accommodations upstairs are well beyond anything you could expect on tour. If you're booked there, rent the upstairs, because there is no hotel in town that compares to it at any price. read more

Saturn is/was not a half-hearted concept. Whomever thought of this place fully committed to their idea. When we walked up to this place the first thing it made me think of was NASA Space Center Houston. Surely this was not a bar/coffee house? It felt more like a children's attraction. Even the air ducts on the ceiling are painted like a NASA rocket and with restroom stalls labelled "Launch Pad". Episodes of "Get Smart" we're playing on a projector screen for guest entertainment as well. However, what is NOT childish or juvenile about this place are the drinks. I ordered their Whiskey Sour which was highly recommended, it was delicious. It has frothed egg whites, which reminded me of a Raymond's Fizz. It was sweet but with right amount of bitters. I also ordered an Anvil Cloud, which my inexperienced self could only describe it as- an old fashioned but with tequila in it. I'm not giving the drinks justice in my descriptions, but they were SO GOOD! And I can't leave out our bartender, I've never seen anyone make mixing drinks look like an art form, I wish I could remember her name because she was great. Wish I could have tried the coffee, I wish something like this was in Dallas, TX. It's a great mix of a Sci-fi and good booze with a touch of whimsy. read more

Actually was on the Satellite side (Saturn is the club). They have a good indoor space with tons of retro items decorating the walls. They have a huge selection of board games that you and friends can play while kicking back and drinking beer or coffee. As you head into the back area they have some classic consoles hooked up and ready to go. Outdoor space seems kind of forgotten about. It is small and can take between 20 and 30 people with one small tv. Worth checking out. read more

They do have food here but we had already eaten. I believe the menu is small and rotates due to the special board and me not seeing a menu during our 5 hour stay. My partner and I showed up early for a concert. The concert or venue half is usually closed until doors or first ticket is sold. The Saturn eatery/bar is very nice. It's as clean as a bar should be,, keep that in mind when you play all the video games or board games. Everything in there is of course well used but it's extremely cool that they offer so Many different options like the Nintendo,SNES, Nintendo 64, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and so much more. The place is brightly painted and the AC ducts look like spaceships. The art on the wall is very colorful and they do have an a-lot of different spaceship theming . They have a nice bar and typical bar staff. The place is roomy and has plenty of tables that are different sizes that can accommodate A couple for drinks, or seven people to play a large board game. They have two separate restrooms and sometimes offer concessions outside or beside their store location in the open corner lot. On this night it was a young man cooking burgers and sausages with his mom. Parking was free and not at all sparse. Remember how I mentioned my love of the nitro pour via Guinness @ 41st right next door? Satellite keeps Guinness on draft as well, and their pours are not too bad either. I frequent this place mostly for cappuccinos, which I've learned how to correctly place my order based on personal preferences: super dry, pour steamed milk instead of using spoon. Saturn has a lot to offer and I, admittedly, have only really taken advantage of their delicious coffees. They're one of the few places I know that sells Stumptown coffee in the area (if you haven't tried this brand, you're missing out!). The atmosphere is very space retro and with old games available to play. I believe they host a number of entertainment events like concerts and game tournaments. The staff is always very friendly and the outdoor seating area is slightly off of the main road so you get a little more privacy than some other places in the area. I would love to some day take advantage of what all else Saturn has to offer but for now, I'm content with sipping on my delicious coffee in a fun retro space station. read more

First: the space-themed interior is so incredibly fun. That alone is what makes me want to come back. Unless there's a parking lot I didn't see, expect to park on the street. I got a latte with a brown butter donut and they paired well. The latte was good, not mind-blowing but good and pretty. The donut was really great though. I've never had a flavor like it. The barista brought my order to my table (good service). Their prices are a little high, but I would expect that with it being in the Avondale area and so unique. There are TONS of board games. It would make for an awesome hangout spot. Very calm and spacious atmosphere. Could study here too. I would love to check out a show in their venue sometime soon. Loved it! read more

I drove in from Atlanta on Sunday to see The Julie Ruin here. It was such a great place to catch a show that I'll definitely be driving back again. First of all, the main doors to the venue are inside, with AC, a full bar, and bathrooms. I was expecting to sweat it out outside for hours, waiting for doors to open (I don't play when it comes to seeing my favorite bands live, and I was determined to be front row for The Julie Ruin). But instead I spent a couple hours sitting at a table, sipping on a drink, and reading. The staff were all nice and helpful when I asked them questions as well. As for the venue itself, it's superb. Small, intimate, clean, and great sound. I go to a lot of shows (I'm coming up on 25 this year alone), and this is one of the better venues I've been to. A lot of the time, you have to sacrifice good sound for a small, intimate venue or whatever, but not here. read more

Love me some Saturn. Was crestfallen when I heard Bottletree was shutting down. With that being said...Saturn is badass. Buddy and I caught Patterson Hood right after they opened. Still working out a few kinks but superbly managed. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable not to mention a great local beer selection. Now to the reason they are there...music. I like that there's a bar area outside the club part, so people can still chill and enjoy the bar even if they're not going to see a show. Before the world shut down, me and my forever date enjoyed going to the Saturn for concerts. They always had really good names coming through and we loved the set up of the venue. We also have been to a comedy show and multiple game nights with friends. I always love smaller venues that can offer really good musical talent and decent booze prices to go with it. Since concerts and social interactions aren't a thing anymore, we have started going to Saturn for coffee. I didn't realize until recently they sell Domestique coffee, so way very excited when I found out. One time I went they had an online ordering system and would bring your drink out when ready, the last time I went they had an actual human taking our order. They have the side patio area outside open which is a nice change of scenery from my couch. The area is also shaded, so we have enjoyed sitting for a minute and enjoying our coffee. My coffee order is slightly boring (and basic), iced cold brew, but their cold brew is sooo good and very hard to pass up. I will eventually venture out to their lattes and report back. read more

My husband and I recently went to Saturn for a concert. It was a great venue! Small and intimate, with a nice large bar at the back of the room. There was a fenced patio outside that had a very chill vibe and even though the place was packed, it never felt crowded. I have been back several times. I love the place... its a bar/coffee shop. Friday night I was there and it was about 8. A friend of mine ordered an espreso but they said they closed the coffee shop at 7pm. However, the times are not marked and if you call the number they do not diffrentiate seperate hours. Every drink that I have had is amazing except for the lighting forecast ( it has bourbon, strawberry and champs). I did not care for this drink.... however, anything else from the old fashions to the vodka drinks... they are amazing. Great bartenders and friendly staff with cool decor. read more

Saturn is truly one of a kind. They serve coffee during the day and turn into a bar/concert venue. I've been for the coffee and it was delicious. I had the black ice coffee and was pleased. I've also been during the evening for cocktails. The cocktail was enjoyable and the fact that they had vintage games was even cooler. Saturn is an awesome venue with a wide variety of events. Parking is limited to street parking but there is a small parking lot behind 41st Pub that you can get a spot in if you are lucky. Yesterday we went to the cereal brunch adventure which is always a fun time. You pay the suggested 3 dollar donation and you get all you can eat cereal, pop tarts, rice crispy treats, and breakfast bars. For this cereal adventure they had the first season on The Jetsons playing on a large screen. Also, they have tons of games available to play! I have also attended one show at Saturn (Elle King) and the show was really amazing! I highly recommend checking out Saturn! read more

Saturn is our favorite place to see shows. You can tell people enjoy playing there (especially since they usually say so). It's a great size venue. I can usually wiggle to a good spot and see everything. We also come for the different events or just to get a cocktail and play some games. The Rocket Booster is a cocktail with Tang. So fun! I also like that I can get tea or coffee while out late. They recently added more video games so there are options all around. I have been here three times and each time it exceeds my expectations. The staff are top notch.Even in a crowed house the bartenders bring their A-game. No waiting for a drink and it is perfect(their house drinks are damned tasty...).For a bar and music venue the place is impeccably clean...something I am clearly not used to. The only question I am left with is...why the hell wasn't this place here when I lived in Birmingham? :) I will definitely stop in for a drink every time I am in town regardless of who is playing. read more

I've been to Saturn as both a concert venue as a bar and hope to try out the coffeehouse aspect at some point. As a concert venue, it is the perfect size for smaller venues. The acoustics were average, but similar to what I would expect for a venue of that size. I liked that there is raised seating if you do want to enjoy a concert without standing the entire time and still somewhat be able to see. I also appreciated that there was a bar within the separate venue room, though it seems like they only open this bar during concerts as it was closed when I visited on a non-event night even though it was packed. I inadvertently visited Saturn on vintage video game night which was somewhat novel at first, but grew a little annoying at some point. I came to Saturn with a large group of 10 people because of their extensive board/card game selection but were surprised to come and see how hardcore the vintage game night is. Even though it's not really my scene, the effort and sheer amount of various game setups that they have was impressive. I enjoyed a few rounds of DDR before settling into some card games with friends, however, I found the music to be unbearably loud, and I'm someone who normally is not phased. I was actually hoarse the next day from having to yell at my friends to hold a conversation. I also felt that the drinks were overpriced (7$ for a canned craft beer for example), though the service was prompt and friendly. I will be back but will probably avoid the vintage video game night in the future. read more
