I came back to this page to tell my friends about SATO and how they must go for some delicious vegan curry ramen. I was appalled to find that I had given SATO 4 stars instead of 5. SATO, I am so sorry. I absolutely adore them and beg my husband to go because I crave their vegan curry ramen. I am not vegan or vegetarian, but this is my go to over the meat broths. The flavor is excellent. Not too spicy but plenty flavorful. The tofu is excellent. I think the reason I gave it a 4 before was because I had gotten the chicken ramen and found it a bit bland for my taste. I always get extra noodles and it's very filling. I also enjoy their vegetable dumplings and spring rolls. This is my preferred location over elmwood. It is a little small inside so prepare for the possibility you might have to sit at one of the tables with other people. If you're craving ramen this is the place to go. But get the vegan curry ramen if you want a ramen packed with flavor! read more

The food is absolutely on point every time we get food from here which keeps us coming back. My go to is the spicy ramen. So good. The dishes are well crafted and well priced for the portion you get. The service is always good. The only thing I would change is the dine in setup, the location is very small. Minimal places to sit and they're always pretty busy around dinner time, so if you're not showing up at the right time it can be an issue (we've gotten there and snagged a seat and within 5 minutes there's people turning around at the door due to no space). I most certainly don't have the qualification or skill to make these suggestions, although if the tables were reconfigured just slightly or a couple of things were moved around, you might be able to sit another 4-6 people and avoid this problem. I went with their signature Sato Ramen noodles, iced matcha latte with cinnamon and Miso Caramel donuts. I was not a huge fan of the ramen to be honest, the soft boiled eggs were delicious! The broth was very good as well, but the flavors with the pickled ginger, and bean sprouts gave the ramen an all over strange taste to me. The iced matcha latte was delicious, not overly sweet but had a lot of cinnamon. The star of the show for me were the donuts, for someone who doesn't have much of a sweet tooth, these were a 10/10 for me! So good, over all very nicely done. Great place for ramen! They have limited seating area at this location and they don't accept reservations but everytime I've been there, I was able to find a spot to sit. Their vegetarian ramen is really good, but they only have 2 vegetarian-friendly options in their menu, I hope they add some more options. Pork Dumplings 9/10 They give the option for pan fry or deep fry. I love that! I got them deep fried. They were great, super crispy, Coulda came out of the fryer a few seconds earlier. The pork inside had a good flavor and the dipping sauce was also good, but the combo was a bit salty together. Harumaki Spring Rolls 9/10 Gyoza sauce for dipping. Great crunch and fry on these. The filling also had a good flavor. Nice combo dipped in the gyoza sauce too. Tonkotsu Ramen 8/10 Added corn also. Not bad, but not what I was craving flavor wise. Tasted like a deep beef broth, or kinda reminded me of gravy for some reason. Pork was cooked good. Love that it was sliced so thin. The noodles definitely could have been cooked for another couple minutes, they were a little underdone. I also had a giant clump of noodles stuck together in my soup. The egg was cooked well. It was a little bit more runny than usual, but still good. I do wish there was soy sauce available to add a couple dashes. Spicy Miso Ramen 9/10 Really good flavorful broth, Spicy and salty. This place was okay was running some errands decided to stop on in. The star of the show was the fries which were an appetizer no doubt about it, I ended up having the pork ramen and I didn't feel like the broth had as much flavor as some of the ramen I've had other places personally. I also didn't like the fact that there wasn't any condiments to accompany this ramen besides saracha which as blah blah. Maybe our expectations were too high after this restaurant was recommended by some local friends. The service is friendly and the restaurant is beautiful. However, we found our ramen dishes to be attractive, but sadly lacking in flavor. My daughter had the spicy miso ramen and I had the sato ramen. I asked for the gluten free rice noodles but was given (and charged extra for) the shirataki noodles. I added the fried tofu, which was by far the best thing about the dish. My daughter said her ramen noodles were undercooked. The smallish restaurant was full on a Monday night, so it clearly has fans, but I wouldn't rush back. read more

This place is so cute! I got the Tori Paitan Ramen and added bean sprouts, and my friend got the classic ramen, and we split the Spring rolls and Gyoza Pork Dumplings Plate. All were delicious! Topped it off with an Iced Matcha Latte which was divine. We sat at the little food bar area, had our food, good conversation, and even opened my laptop up for a couple of emails. I've been here at least 20 times over the span of several years. Food never disappoints, flavors are amazing, the ambiance is great but seating is ridiculously limited to almost comedic levels. Service is pretty bare minimum. You order, you sit down, you wait as long as it takes, and food is received. So this was my first time ordering ramen that didn't come out of an orange package! I ordered the Tori Paiten Ramen with no corn, added bean sprouts and a lotus root. You HAVE TO try the lotus root. So today was my 1st time coming to Sato Ramen. Tbh i had higher expectations.... So anyway I had a black cherry soda, Curry Ramen with pork and some pan fried gyōza dumplings and some spring rolls. The soda was cool. When I opened it what looked like smoke ish gas was coming out in a swirl The Curry Ramen... was very disappointing the taste reminded me of chicken noodle soup and I even had like steamed potatoes, corn, and carrot in it along with some green onion etc. It was not spicy so I was sad the flavor was not there. I had to add Sriracha sauce that was on the table for it to be spicy but it still doesn't make up for the Curry flavor. also the pork was dry and it didn't absorb the broth . The boiled egg though was good The gyōza dumplings were very good but pricey. Excellent flavor already before even using the soy sauce. Nice and lightweight. The spring rolls were okay. The sauce though was the bomb and paired well to give it a nice kick in ur mouth mwah! The drawings and art are so cute btw This place is small, and dimly lit. There aren't many tables. To start, SATO had a very nice, casual aesthetic and I loved the music choices. Pay raise for whoever put that playlist together. Our server was extremely nice, and gave me the run down on how the restaurant works (basically they give you a paper to mark off what you want and theres a water cooler with cups). Okonomayaki fries were beautiful and tasted delicious. Fries were crisp and well seasoned and topped with goodies. My spicy miso ramen looked delicious but was so, so salty. There was no real flavor besides salt. And in typical Gen Z "i don't like any sort of confrontation" fashion I just dumped some of my water (almost a full cup) into the bowl and it was still soooo salty My nephrons were screaming. The only other time I've had ramen was in Anchorage, Alaska and their broth was also super salty so I'm not sure if that's how it's supposed to be or if I just have bad luck with ramen places. This is the third location of sato I've been too and the food was good! I got the tonkotsu ramen and honestly you can't go wrong with it! Also got an iced tea and it was jasmine, my favorite. This location is best for small groups or individuals it's ideal for college kids and I get it. Small space across the street from a college. My husband and I went with two friends and our baby and if we hadn't bent the first people there for lunch rush we wouldn't have had anywhere to sit. So that's my only advice, if you have a big group I'd head to one of their other locations that can more easily accommodate that. But the food was divine like sato always is! read more

Ramen is one of my #1 comfort foods. I've been to SATO, and SATO Brewpub (RIP) but never ordered anything from SATO Ramen. SATO is always solid, I love the ramen noodle texture, and their broths are always so rich. I decided to Doordash the special which was a Garlic Ramen with the spice bomb, and the Teriyaki Don. Had a coupon, my girlfriend is gluten free and out for the night so I normally can't get this stuff, and was ready to enjoy my weekend. The food arrives. I open up the Teriyaki Don and it's decent. Good bit of friend chicken, tasty. Not amazing but solid. Now the star, the garlic Ramen. #1 they forgot my spice bomb. 2 words... fatty, bland. As Gordon Ramsay would say "where's the salt?". I'm telling you I went into my fridge, and poured a heap full of soy sauce to season it right. The chicken that came with it... fried to a bit, bland, and so crappy. SATO don't have a special if it sucks. Taste and season your food please. Hopefully next time you do better. read more

Made my first ever trip to SATO Ramen on Saturday and it did not let me down. Located a bit down Main Street next to Shango, this little Ramen joint has enough seating and menu options to please any ramen fan. I started off by ordering arare, which is basically little rice crackers wrapped in seaweed and something that I did not enjoy. The crackers themselves were very hard and the taste was just not for me, although I knew what they were before ordering so thats on me, not them. For a main course I ordered the donburi bowl that had the kaarage chicken in it. The chicken itself was absolutely delicious and had me wishing I also ordered the chicken as an appetizer. Also In the bowl was some rice, peppers, and I think onion (I have the memory of a toad). Overall, I was very pleased with my first ever stop at SATO Ramen. If you are looking for ramen, trust me, as a ramen guy who tried ramen from all over the world (Japan, China, the U.S.), I can say Sato is the BEST ramen place you can find in WNY. No place around have the same quality of ramen as Sato, this is the king. The little disappointment is the size of the Kara-Age (fried chicken). Don't get me wrong! It is still the greatest Kara-Age I get in Buffalo! But the pieces used to be huge. Last two times I got it, the pieces were way too small and had less pieces than before.
