Delicious baked goods!
Ashley C.

I am updating my review as my last one was before the ownership change. Spoiler alert, it's still amazing. We were nervous with the ownership change, but the new owners kept the high standards. They have the same hospitality, passion, and skill of the previous owners. While the menu changed a little bit, the food is still completely addicting (banh mi, mee goreng, satay, baked goods... All 100/10). The service is some of the best around, everything is incredibly clean, food is delicious and fresh, and we are thrilled! Tldr: if you haven't been here, go.

I've only heard good things about this place and after trying them it was worth the hype! I ordered the Singapore chow fun and the pad Thai. Chicken and shrimp are included in both of these entrees which are a nice inclusion. Both dishes are full of flavor and the toppings are fresh. The service is very friendly and attentive. There are a few tables to dine in but I'd go here more for takeout. If you are in the mood for pad Thai go to Satay 2 Go!

My husband and I come here for lunch when our tires are getting changed. :) We came on a Tuesday around 11:20, and we were the only customers at that point, but it quickly filled up. They've made some changes to the restaurant, and they all seem good. There are glasses of water for the tables, a bit of waiter service, some of the dishes have changed, there was dessert. . . Also, the service is so good, and the lady serving us was very sweet. On a recommendation from the tire guy, we both got Vietnamese coffees - they were amazing! We also ordered Singapore Rice Noodles and Mee Goreng. Both were delicious! We'll be back, maybe even before the next tire change.

Great neighborhood. Mom and pop place. Convenient and delicious to go go to. Or you can eat there. There's a few tables. Foods are delicious and authentic. Staffs are nice So nice to have a little taste of (close to/almost) home. Every now and then

Mee goreng after I started on it.

best satay ever by far. tender and juicy, not cooked to dry and tough like so many other places. fantastic place! hosts are personable, very interested in making sure you have a good experience.

In Minnesota for two days and had to visit Satay to Go for very authentic Malaysian! When we lived in the twin cities we drove 60 miles round trip just to eat here. Great entries and awesome bakery. Corrine the owner smile is worth the trip by itself! If you haven't eaten chicken Satay venture to Apple Valley to have the authentic version.... As good as the streets of Singapore.

Nasi Lemak
Felisha E.

Annoyed that Nasmi Lemak was $15 for rice, and the curry had 4 cubes of chicken and a couple pcs of potato. The flavor was really good but the portion is not ok... We also got the Roti Canai and it was two pcs of Roti bread and a small side cup of watery "curry" for $15...im confused.

Chicken Laksa

I recently visited Minnesota to visit family. One of the places I visited was Satay 2 Go. This is an authentic Southeast Asian restaurant which served meals and also bakery items that I absolutely loved. I went on a weekday and there was no line. I ended up ordering the Chicken Mee Goreng and Laksa as well as chicken barbecue and chicken curry pastries.   Chicken Mee Goreng -A delicious egg noodle stir fry with flavors reminiscent of the typical Cantonese egg noodle chow mein. This was ordered spicy and had just the right amount of heat. I was extremely impressed with the tastes and would recommend friends to order this. Laksa -Malaysian curry noodle soup with bean sprouts and shredded chicken. The curry broth was made with a coconut milk that perfectly complimented the dish. I would highly recommend taking a spoonful of shredded chicken, bean sprout and noodles along with some coconut curry broth to truly experience all of the exceptional flavors. The Laksa already comes with some spice and is perfect to eat during a cold Minnesotan day. Chicken Barbecue (not pictured) -Hand-sized pastries filled with barbecued chicken. The filling had exceptional flavor and the pastry was light and flaky. Overall, the filling-to-pastry ratio was perfect. Chicken Curry (not pictured) -Hand-sized pastries filled with curry chicken. The filling had a delicious yellow curry flavor and the pastry was light and flaky. Unlike the barbecue chicken, I felt that there could have been more curry chicken filling.   Of note, there's no water or soda fountain. There is a fridge full of canned/bottled beverages for purchase if you plan to order a highly spicy dish. Also, there were plenty of dishes that were sold out. I was looking forward to trying the Japanese pizza which Satay 2 go is known for. Overall, I am happy to have stopped by Satay 2 Go. Their quality of noodle dishes was phenomenal. The staff was extremely friendly and made a positive dining experience. Looking forward to the next time I visit and hope to try some of the dishes that were previously out when I last visited!

Menu

Great food and awesome customer service they have a very unique menu, highly recommend to try everything! Very authentic Vietnamese Noodle Soup! I love their broth. For mochi donuts, they use real dried fruits for toppings, and not too sweet as other places. Cause this is to-go restaurant so no bathroom, but they still have a few tables for you to sit. However, I definitely recommend this place! Lovely staffs

Best egg rolls! Hubby loves the chicken. Only wishes he could have a choice of rice or noodles. He prefers noodles.

I believe that since COVID they have transitioned to takeout only, and it's great to see that the business is still thriving even if they are still operating under the takeout only model despite how the world has evolved away from the pandemic. For the few dishes that I came here for, qualities varied, with some dishes lacking flavor while others simply sloppily created. The Hainanese chicken relied solely on the extra dipping sauces for flavor while the chicken itself had no flavor alone. The nasi lemak had good flavor mainly because of the sambal, and the chicken had good texture. I didn't see any peanuts in the dish, which I thought was needed for nasi lemak. The sizzling beef and ginger scallion duck had pretty expected flavor because of their ingredients, meaning that what they looked like was what they tasted like, if that makes sense. When I got food from there a second time 4 months later, overall the food was better. The chili tofu wasn't spicy at all even if I asked for spicy in my original order. The char kway teow had both good flavor and soft texture, allowing a positive tasting experience. The sambal shrimp had a good amount of vegetables and not enough shrimp, and had very good flavor because of the sambal infused with the dish. Because their menu is huge, I think they have an adequate selection of options that can serve customers of all kinds. Even though this is not one of my favorite spots within the Twin Cities, the dishes they have already solidifies this establishment as a "must not miss" within the area.

At the time, I didn't realize it was take out only. However, it worked out for us to pick it up as we headed to a friend's house for dinner. We ordered: BBQ Pork Lo Mein - simple and classic, not much for veggies Spicy Basil Beef - delicious, could be spicier Pineapple Chicken - think on sweet and sour sauce but tasty Spicy Tofu - SO good, their tofu is made in house! Crispy outside, soft inside Roti Canai - amazing! No wonder this is a top rec on Yelp Dumplings - average but good! Chicken Rice - We didn't realize each dish came with rice, so we ordered this but so glad we did - it had amazing flavor. Pick up process was very easy - they have their system down. Highly recommend supporting this locally owned spot next time you're craving takeout!

Our waitress was extremely attentive and gave us several wonderful recommendations that guided our entire order. Everything we tried was memorable: - Basil Wings: Hands down my favorite of the small plates! The chicken came out piping hot, fresh, and perfectly crispy with great flavor. - Salmon Eggs Benedict: Beautifully poached eggs over rich, flavorful salmon patties (pan fried) gave it a nice crunch with the egg and English muffin. - Coffee Crunch French Toast: A delicious blend of sweet and coffee. The French toast is seasonal and was definitely something I would get again. It was just the right amount of sweetness. - Duck Congee: Comforting and savory. The duck meat basically fell off the bone. Overall, a top-tier dining experience with phenomenal food and warm, knowledgeable service. The vibe had a great atmosphere. Can't wait to go back!

Staff was friendly and helpful and I love that they include a little rice bite at the beginning as a palate cleanser-really makes them stand out! The Vietnamese coffee was great and I would easily recommend it-I could just drink that condensed milk it's so good. To eat one of my friends and I split the Benedict and the seasonal French toast and our other friend got the khao soi. We also got a sticky rice party just to try and some hot sauce. Recommend: -Sticky rice patty: super unique and delicious. Definitely an awesome add on -The seasonal Benedict: I believe it was a salmon cake one. This was delicious Take it or leave it: -The French toast. What happened to the og french toast?! They informed me they had switched to a milk bread of sorts and it did not do it for me the way the old French toast used to. I was so excited about it so it was kind of a let down. Overall it will be a slightly higher price point for brunch in general especially if you do any drinks or add ons but the place is as always stunning and the experience was still a really solid one

I was in Minneapolis for a work trip and found this spot while searching for some Asian food nearby…read moreand I am SOOOO glad I did. First of all, the restaurant is super cute. It has this tropical and airy vibe with a bunch of plants everywhere. It's partially open air with indoor seating too. I sat at the bar and they had all the windows open and the whole atmosphere was just perfect. It's a Vietnamese fusion spot and apparently a James Beard Award winner which I can definitely understand after eating here. To start the bartender recommended the shrimp toast so I ordered that along with the sweet corn wontons. The shrimp toast was SO interesting!!! It was like a shrimp mousse on toast. I honestly loved it but fair warning, it was reaaaally spicy with the fresh jalapeños on top. Still so good though I pushed through. The sweet corn wontons were AMAZING. They came in this super flavorful broth that I drank by itself after. For dessert, I tried their version of mango sticky rice, which was probably one of the most interesting things I had. They don't actually use rice and instead use this jell-o??? but somehow you still get all the flavors of mango sticky rice. So different and SO delicious. My fav of the night! For drinks I tried with the Life Aquatic which was a mezcal cocktail with cucumber and it was smoky, refreshing and overall just amazing. Then I asked for a lychee martini which wasn't even on the menu but they attempted to make one for me anyway. 10/10 execution because it was also amazing! I was genuinely impressed by everything...the food, drinks, atmosphere and the service. They even gave me a little taste of their slushies to try at the end which were super tasty too. Who knows when I'll be back in Minneapolis but I genuinely would come back just to have another meal here. That's how good it was!

If you're looking to try a dish that is uniquely Khmer, this soup is one of them. The soup has flavors from roasted rice and kreung, a fragrant blend of lemongrass, makrut lime leaves, garlic, galangal, tumeric. Cheng Heng's version had green beans, round green eggplants, spinach, young papaya, and kabocha squash, plus a protein choice (I chose chicken). The somlaw was hearty, and very filling. The portion was more than enough to share. I can imagine myself ordering this on a cold winter evening. Their menu was full of amazing Cambodian dishes, but unfortunately, I was one, otherwise I would have ordered other items like the Somlaw Machu Kreung, and Somlaw Machu Angkor as well.
