Curry Puff
Lauren H.

A friend of mine just dropped off a "Curry Puff" from here and I loved it so much. The pastry was crisp and delicate, and the curry inside was so flavorful. Can't wait to try out more Thai/Malaysian delicacies from this place!

Yummy, quick bites for breakfast and lunch. Clean, efficient operation. Really fresh salad produce. Meh Thai coffee.

When you're craving good food and just so happen there's a new place in town to satisfy that craving...too bad the hours aren't for the weekend warriors to visit off work hours but at least they do deliveries too. Tried the hainanese chicken rice, pad krap pow and also moo ping - all fantastic and can't really stop your mouth from being stuffed! Quite the spot to get a quick bite if you work in the vicinity.

Moo Ping (Pork) Salad

The moo ping salad is delicious. The pork is so tender and flavorful and they pack in a good amount of veggies. Great price, ambience, and service. Skyway accessible just past IDS.

Nasi Lemak & Purple Limeade

Fantastic food and service! I came for lunch and will come back for more. I ordered their special of the day: Nasi Lemak. Curried chicken with anchovy, slices of fresh cucumber and a fried egg atop a bed of fluffy white rice cooked in coconut milk; sambal (chili paste) on the side. The chicken was fabulous, perfectly seasoned and well balanced. Don't let the anchovy scare you; it adds a wonderful umami flavor. The sambal was a sleeper hit and the egg was flawless. You'll do the food dance while you eat. The purple limeade was sweetened perfectly and was a refreshing addition. Service was super friendly and quick! Between order and arrival it was a solid 3 minutes. For 13 dollars, you got a generous amount of healthy, superbly delicious food. Highly recommend if you are in the area!

This is our new favorite Thai place! The flavor is so, so good, the prices are unbeatable and the owners are so incredibly kind and accommodating. My favorite is the mooping and kayak toast! Definitely try this place, you won't be disappointed!

You don't need a reservation, which is nice, but parking can get kinda packed--just something to keep in mind. It was such a beautiful day out, so my family and I stopped by for some mocktails and a few small bites. We ordered our go-to favorites: the green beans and basil wings, both tempura-fried and coated in their signature dry rub. Absolute chef's kiss--rich, tangy, and perfectly spiced! We also tried the crispy pork belly, which was deliciously crunchy and savory. My only note is that the portion was rather small. For drinks, I had the Pineapple Butterfly, which was sweet and refreshing, while my husband enjoyed the Guava Mule. I highly recommend Gai Noi--great food, drinks, and just an all-around good vibe.

The restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere with lots of wicker and woody designs. We started with the gai basil, which made the perfect appetizer, flavorful, slightly spicy, and surprisingly fresh. It set the tone for the rest of the meal in the best way. The peanut noodles were a standout for me. They had this creamy, almost carbonara like texture, but with a subtle sweetness and crunch that made them really memorable and different from your typical noodle dish. The basil wings were easily a highlight, super crispy with tons of flavor in the breading. They had this lemony, spicy kick that made them hard to stop eating. For our main, we had the red curry with jasmine rice, which leaned on the milder side. It had a gentle sweetness with gingery notes and bamboo that made it feel comforting without being too heavy. To drink, the guava mule (mocktail) was fresh and tropical, light, refreshing, and a great balance to the richness of some of the dishes. Overall, Gai Noi feels like a place where every dish is thoughtfully crafted, with bold flavors and a menu that's fun to explore. It's perfect for sharing plates and trying a little bit of everything.

We began with the Roasted Cashews, which were perfectly seasoned and addictive. For mains, the Red Curry was rich, complex, and comforting, but the star of the show was undoubtedly the Pineapple Fried Rice. Hands down, the best version we have ever had--perfectly balanced sweetness and savory depth. The drink pairings were spot on: I enjoyed a lovely glass of Pinot Noir that complemented the spice beautifully, while my partner had a crisp, cold Sapporo. Nong's is a true gem in Golden Valley for authentic, high-quality Thai food. The service makes you feel like family. Highly recommend!

The service is friendly. We were greeted shortly after entering. The restaurant was fairly busy, with many others dining in, and many takeout orders coming in as well, but we were seated right away! Several employees checked in on us to make sure we had everything we needed and were enjoying our food throughout our dining experience! They have many vegetarian and gluten free options. They also have some vegan options or items that can be made vegan upon request! We had the cream cheese wontons as an appetizer! The filling was very smooth and creamy and slightly sweet. We also had pad see yew with tofu and pad thai with mock duck. The servings are generous and each entree can easily last for 2 meals. They include a lot of the protein of choice, which I greatly appreciate. Some thai restaurants ask you for your desired level of spice, but we weren't asked here. They were mild (no spice) by default. The pad see ew had a savory, slightly sweet flavor. The noodles were perfectly chewy, and the Chinese broccoli had a nice little crunch. The pad thai had a good balance of sweet, salty, and savory. For dessert we had the mango sticky rice! The mango wasn't particularly ripe, but the coconut milk provided the perfect amount of sweetness. I enjoy Nong's Thai and would recommend it!

The vibes are always there and I always feel inspired. The brunch menu is great, but I do prefer dinner. Khao soi is a perfect size to finish, and the pan roasted chicken is tender and juicy. The shrimp rolls get dried up quickly, so it's best to eat it right away. The Thai coffee is not too strong - I like that all their sweeteners for coffee and tea are on the side in the cutest little dishes.

The space was really cute and while busy - it had a calming vibe. Our waiter Nick - brought us a little juice shot to get the night started and helped us navigate the menu. He made recommendations on dishes he recommended an even suggestions on how much to order for our group. He also came to our table right away when he heard there was only one mango fish left for the night so we could put in the order! I'm so thankful because that was one of the top dishes of the night. We ended up ordering 8 different dishes and one duplicate so that everyone could have one of the dumpling style apps. It was enough food though I could've sampled everything on the menu. My favorite was the bucatini which was a fabulous blend of flavors and a healthy portion. My husband thought the stand out fish was the basil wings. The sauces that came with the dishes were out of this world. I don't think we left a drop behind. It was worth getting extra rice just to enjoy it all. The menu had a lot of gluten free options and some dairy free options which was great for an inclusive family style meal. Nick was so helpful in making drink recommendations and answering any questions our group had - especially because there were a lot of new to us ingredients on the menu. He was outstanding and made our night!

The flavors here are wildly different. I've been here before with friends and they've ordered the curry, but the curry looked too watery and that kind of should've told me that it wasn't going to be a hit of a Thai place for me. I like closer to a thicker sauce for coconut curry. Usually the Thai places that have more watery coconut curry sauces just hits a little lower & it def shows. Amazing Thai has this same issue lol. Now, this place too... I feel lost without a fav Thai place in Minne lol. The string beans were crunchy in the papaya salad which was great but the entire sauce tasted like MSG & lacks the Lao shrimp paste flavor although it was more grey since I did order the Lao style but not enough shrimp paste flavor as it should have. Either this place has different cooks etc., it is not the same as a year ago or more. I took a few bites of each plate and I wrapped it up to go, and I threw it in the garbage since my stomach was churning had to take some Tums lol. This place, Amazing Thai, & Sawatdee are the bottom 3 for me. Back to the drawing table. (I've never seen an Asian person eat here... I guess that says a lot?)
