I was at Malcom yard and thought this place looked good. I love some good fried chicken and they had some interesting sauce choices for it. The price seemed a little spendy but when in Rome. I got 2 pieces of chicken and pickles for like $17. The chicken came out super fresh and hot to the touch which I love. The skin pretty much fell off immediately while eating which is a real bummer. Sauce was delicious and so were the pickles. Staff was friendly and if you haven't been to Malcom yard, inside is spacious and feels like a brewery. If I happen to be there again, i would debate trying the sandwich, but it's not a place I'd got out of my way to visit. read more

The chicken was perfectly crispy and juicy, and the flavor of the sauce was unreal--savory, garlicky, just a touch sweet. It all came together so well. The ambiance is food hall, but of all the places to try, definitely get this chicken sandwich! Parking at Malcom sucks if you get there during dinner/happy hour. I love eating food I cannot make at home. And I have no idea how Chef Yoo creates these delicious combinations. I visited Abang Yoli at their location at The Market at Malcolm Yards which provides lots of different seating areas. I went during dinner time, so the place was packed. Next time, I would sit outside since the noise was personally overstimulating. As for the food, I enjoyed the fried chicken. It was juicy but plain by itself. I imagine the fried chicken sandwich they're known for would be delicious but was hesitant to order since it's served on a milk bun, and I'm unfortunately lactose intolerant. I ordered a two piece KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) with kimchi slaw. I normally love the chicken but this was really lacking. Way too much breading on the chicken and the only way to spice it up was dipping it in gojujung sauce. The slaw was not good at all. We also had the Asian noodle salad with chicken. The grilled chicken was good but the noodles were not pleasing at all. The other thing our group had were the French fries. They were so salty that we could barely eat them. Another place I really wanted to love...but can honestly only award 3 stars (some items were somewhat edible) but more stress on "FUSION" than Asian or Korean. The Abang Rice Noodles ($12 + tax + surcharge) was an abomination. I could hardly force myself to eat the plastic/tasteless noodles; the grilled chicken thighs were good, but a little salty (fermented chili salt, no less). The 2 Piece Korean Fried Chicken ($13 + tax + surcharge) were again edible but nothing I would ever order again. There was as much thick breading as there was chicken and the "spicy gochujang" sauce was a variation of true gochujang sauce. Asian Fries would have been good if they were not so salty (NORI SALT this time) that the 3 of us couldn't finish them (which is unheard of for us). Maybe if you order this side you could order the Nori Salt on the side and add to your taste. read more

The fries here is definitely the star of the show- it was fun to eat and share with friends! I also had the chicken sandwich and two piece fried chicken. Overall, the chicken dishes had a great presentation and the quality is very fresh, however the flavors were really lacking and needed seasoning. They were slightly too salty (to be expected, not a big salt fan) but I couldn't help myself but continue to eat them no matter how dry my mouth. They are seasoned with some earthy thinly pine needle shaped spice that was addictive and the ultra thin jalapeños were a nice touch. Only giving 4 stars due to the high prices, but the whole place (its inside a bar/food hall) is pricey and markets itself a high end fast casual food hall w/ beer/wine wall. It's run by chef Jamie Yoo and offers a great variety of Asian Cuisine - a fusion of East and Southeast Asian cooking. Elements of Korean, Japanese, Malaysian, and Thai cooking can be found in the creative dishes Abang Yoli puts out. It was love at first bite for me! One of my favorite dishes is their Korean Style Fried Chicken. Huge portion, perfect golden crisp and you get to choose between spicy Gochujang or Sesame Ginger Garlic sauce which is on a sweeter side. I love them both! The chicken is so juicy and just brilliant. I can't get enough of it! My second favorite dish has to be the Char Siu - Cantonese BBQ Pork marinated in house. Served with their fragrant Jasmine rice, cucumber, and pickled jalapeño. It's insanely juicy, savory, and tender. I've also tried their Chicken Ssam - Korean dish - kind of like a build-your-own lettuce wrap and it's delicious, too. Comes with garlic chive kimchi and ssamjang. I honestly don't believe that you could find a bad dish here. Everything is so flavorful and prepared with care that you can taste in the food. OVERALL: Alright y'all. I am Abang Yoli's #1 fan. I cannot get over how good this place is. I am simply obsessed. My number one strategy when it comes to food halls is to go to the longest line, because that means enough people want to get the food for there to be a line! Trust me on this. It has not failed me yet. FOOD: The Korean fried chicken is absolutely delicious. Crunchy and still mouth-watering and juicy! The char sui is a classic Asian dish and with most Asian dishes pairs well with rice! The flavor of the sauce and the perfectly toasted sesame seeds really rounds out this dish. I've been on a chicken sandwich kick and this sandwich hits all the spots! I've tried both the sesame ginger sauce and the spicy gochujang and you can't go wrong with your selection. PRICE: The entrees are super reasonable prices for their portions. $12-$15 depending on what you select! SERVICE: Malcolm Yards makes it super easy to order with a single card that keeps your tab running, and sends you a text when the food is complete. Very neat place to be in the food court. This came to be my first choice cause saw quite a few people ordering it. So why not give it a try. I had 4 pieces of chickens and a side of French fries. When it comes to food, I think review = food + price + customer service. Food = Service = Price = $$ Fried chicken plating was nice , came with the gochujang and kimchi on side however the taste is quite disappointing. Though the chicken is crunchy, it is not savory, perhaps under seasoned. There is some sort of rancid type of taste somehow. For the price of $23 for 4 pieces of chickens, Popeyes chicken definitely beats this (sorry but not sorry..). The fries was okay with some seasonings and garnish on top, maybe just the rancid taste or the oil that used to deep fry the fries really bothered me.Customer service is perhaps not so friendly, cash register is quite impatient when taking my orders, maybe she/he is having a bad day? The good: It's one of the "kitchens " in a cool food hall called "The Market at Malcolm Yard." Fun concept. Very hipster. Lots of draft beer. I got a non-alcoholic beer which shows they cover all options. The place I tried was Abang Yoli, an Asian Fusion fast food. I had the Korean Fried Chicken sandwich. It was almost inedible. Part was so Rick hard like it was not cooked through or frozen. Could not cut it with s knife. The ends were crispy but the whole thing was flavorless. The garlic aioli sauce was greasy. The portion was small and sand which dosed in mayo. This is their specialty? Note to management- dump this franchise and try one of many Nashville hit chicken places (like Dave's Hit Chicken)- which I've tried in Los Angeles and is excellent. Or ask Daybird, also in LA to open a kitchen here. So many better options! Speaking of options, there are only 9. The burger place Bebe's only has beef-bacon mix. Yuck. No smash burgers with quality beef here. Disappointing. I may try the dumpling place next time. My dinner guests had chicken wings which are fine but ordinary. This kitchen is not recommended. The Market is cool but needs more food choices. Ambiance- very noisy inside; hard to talk. Outside seating is nicer and less noisy. Great for kids. Really wanted to like the chicken ssam but was disappointed. The chicken itself was good but the spicy sauce was very hot, and I like hot. It was covered with sliced jalapenos which on the first bite covered my taste buds and and made it hard to taste anything else. The blandest, coldest chicken I have ever tried to eat. I can't believe this chicken was freshly prepared. It was more like chicken left over from a couple of days prior that was poorly reheated. The Malcom Gardens venue leaves a lot to be desired as well. The "no cash" approach is inconvenient for most customers. Not everyone has a credit or debit card these days.
