This restaurant is a total gem flavor wise! Inside it's not much to rave about but the food is fantastic. We always come here for General Tso's Chicken with Orange Chicken Combo and Sweet & Sour Chicken Combo with white rice, egg rolls, and cream cheese wontons. Always so good. Lots of food plenty of leftovers. We are here waiting for it now and my mouth is watering thinking about the General Tso's Chicken! Pictures to come! But this is a must try! Honestly had some good hopes for this given the decent reviews, but I should've definitely taken the price into consideration. We ordered 2 of the Daily 3 Choice Combos (which are very inviting for only $10 each) with Sesame Chicken, Chicken Chow Mein, and Fried Rice. We received the sesame chicken and fried rice but with a chicken stir fry??? No noodles at all, super odd but I let that one go and just tried to enjoy it, the sesame chicken was slimy, and chewy, with random cartilage/tendons hidden throughout. Fried rice was extremely salty, way too much soy sauce except with no veggies and two random pieces of pork??? Honestly got so grossed out 5 bites in and had to just throw it out. This is one of those quiet hole-in-the-wall chinese food places that doesn't look like much from the outside or inside, but the food is great! They do have a few small tables for eating inside otherwise they offer take out or delivery. We choose to walk in and order at the counter. They have an expansive menu and I just wanted to try everything. Their dishes are the normal choices you see at any Chinese restaurant. What I really loved about Egg Roll King is the three choice combo option for only nine bucks! I recommend the orange chicken, lo mein, and garlic chicken. I tried the beef and broccoli as well but the pieces of meat were wimpy and soggy. I liked the brown sauce though. I would love to try some other combo platters and dishes especially for the price. Lo-mein was the best of the three items but that doesn't say much. Moo Moo GUI Pan was tasteless. No broccoli in it. A few carrots and mushrooms and loaded with celery. The chicken was like sandwich meat but thicker. Bought a bottle of soda I would have liked a cup with ice to go with it but no ice available. The only positive review would be the portion size. You would think that would be their specialty... At any rate, the rest of the food I have tried was good. They have combination plate meals which are always the standard Chinese restaurant quality. Nothing to write home about, but not bad at all. One of the odder things about eating here is the smell. For better or worse, this store is situated next to a Cold Stone Creamery which makes Egg Roll King smell like ice cream. I ordered the spicy chicken.....literally ZERO spice level. I don't think they put a dash of hot seasoning whatsoever. I also had some shrimp lo mein and it had no flavor and only a couple of shrimp. An hour and fifteen minutes later we called in and were told "it's out for delivery" without them even taking our name or address. Waited 15 minutes more- keep in mind, the location is about 2 miles from our home- and then called back. The guy who answered was yelled at by a woman in the background named Tasia who said "it'll get there when it gets there". We asked to speak to her- she told us 5 minutes. We asked to confirm again, 5 minutes- and she said yes, guaranteed. Waited another 15 minutes- when the driver arrived he offered us $10 off and took a $10 bill from his wallet. SO STRANGE and ANNOYING - if it's going to be two hours just say that! The food was okay, dumplings were good, but fried rice wasn't very good. Save you dollars and go somewhere else. read more
