My favorite Chinese restaurant in Minnesota hands down! I really wish they were open everyday and had sit down service again but that's okay, fingers crossed for one day! I always get the Sweet and Sour Chicken, I love that they put the sauce on the side and the chicken has a perfect thin layer of breading on it. It's nice and crispy and you get big chicken pieces that are juicy. It comes with white rice or fried but I'm a simple gal and like getting white rice to really let the chicken shine. Everyone raves about this place. There aren't many Chinese places in my neck of the woods so I finally tried it out today. I went for the buffet (Wednesday-Friday 11-2). First impression is that the place is a bit run down and I didn't like that they will charge you if you don't clean your plate. I didn't get to try some stuff because if I didn't like it I sure wasn't paying more for it. The fried rice was amazing (I had seconds)! Tried a few other things but what stood out to me the most was the cream cheese wontons. I know.. I know it's a wonton. These were fresh, warm, crispy on the outside and chewy and creamy on the inside. It was the best thing I ate there. Delicious salt and pepper squid- it's not the precut scored squid either- it was tender and not the cheery type where you have to pull it like string- the batter was nice and light but still stayed crispy in the containers the steam didn't make it soggy. My fam liked their shrimp and broccoli. One said their hot and spicy chicken had the smell of pepper steak which is a good thing for them. Currently only takeout but I liked that I didn't have to repeat myself the phone and they gave me a time of when it should be finished. Can't wait to try more. A lot less expensive than the Minneapolis spots. For example shrimp dishes here are about $13-17 whereas Minneapolis are $20+. read more

Can't say enough good things about Weng's. Excellent and consistent tasting food. Still all take out since COVID in 2023 but they never disappoint! As busy as they get the food orders are always available within a reasonable time and they always provide large portion sizes. I've lived in Philly, New Jersey and New York areas of the county and this is arguably some of the best oriental food I've had. Before I start let me just say the owners are wonderful. A friend suggested that wengs was as close to California Chinese restaurants ,taste wise anyway as he's found. I have to say we found it just ok.., the egg rolls were super filled yes that sounds good but they were bland , the entrees were ok though, potstickers delicious Go figure. After wanting to try Weng's for a couple years we finally made the trip south to give them a try. In fact it was so good we've already made another trip. I've been reading their positive reviews (well done Jim) for too long. Weng's is about an hour from our house so it's takes some planning to do take out which is what we usually do. The first time we visited we ordered our usual fare. Dumplings and potstickers because I'm an equal opportunity lover, chow fun which is my all time fav then cream cheese wontons and sesame chicken for my wife. We also tried one of their specialties, the tenderloin steak in black pepper sauce. The dumplings we excellent, as good as I have ever had. I took all the discipline I had plus my wife keeping the bag by her to keep me from wanting to try them on the way home. Their potstickers are actually fried dumplings, which it does say on their menu. These were also good however my preference is the more traditional potsticker that is crispy on the bottom and soft on top. Its the best of both worlds. Regardless that didn't slow me down from finishing both orders of dumplings. The chow fun was as good as I've had in MN. Just love that dish! My wife raved about her sesame chicken. I'll take her word for it as she is a sesame chicken aficionado. For over 20 years if we get Chinese, she's getting sesame chicken. So she would know. She said the chicken was not overly breaded which she does not like and that the chicken all tasted like good quality chicken. She also enjoyed her wontons. The specialty dish has already become a new favorite. The tenderloin steak was cooked perfectly and was very tender. The black pepper sauce was very flavorful and the vegetable crispy and fresh. I believe we have found the best Asian food in MN. I say Asian because on our 2nd visit we ordered everything that we ordered the first time but added fried rice and pad thai. My wife used to love the pad thai from Chaing Mai Thai in Mpls. Since they closed we have been on the look out for something similar. After eating Wengs, their pad thai received two thumbs up. That was even while she was holding a fork in one of her hands. Weng's is a great little place that according to their Facebook page has a of regulars. Definitely my favorite Chinese spot south of the Twin Cities! Their orange and sesame chickens are fantastic! They're so flavorful and always quench any Chinese craving that I might have. Plus, the place is super close to my home which makes it even more convenient. They always are quick to prepare meals and very kind when I go in to pick it up. I wish there were half points to give because I would give them 3.5 stars. I ordered the combo with general tsao chicken, fried rice, and egg roll but I substituted the egg roll with egg fu yung. I like the option to substitute on the combo meals. The general tsao had a good flavor but no spice (which I'm an used to). The fried rice was good and the fu yung was decent. The waiter was very funny and engaged me in a conversation about the best scorer of all time in the NBA (it is NOT James Harden lol). Overall this was a good experience. Stopped by here after reviewing several Yelp write ups and putting this on my 'Bookmark' list. Finally found myself out here at an appropriate time of day for lunch. Note to check the hours of operation before deciding to make this your food destination as early in the week they don't open until 4pm. Check it out and proceed fast if they are doing the buffet!!! It's a smaller restaurant, but trust me, the food out of the kitchen comes fast and freshly made out to power the buffet, which I enjoyed greatly this day! I enjoy more robustly flavored Asian based food and while I liked their version of 'sides of rice' they had many dishes to choose from and many tending to the full flavored scale such as garlic chicken, orange beef and (surprise) egg fu yung with brown gravy. Overall a great selection of fresh and quite well seasoned dishes--on this day almost 20+ to choose from. Beer and wine is available if you choose and it's a good selection to choose from, so don't be shy. The service is prompt and water refilled before you need ask. I'd heard about this place from a friend who lived down in Elko and decided to give it a try today. My husband and I went at lunch to try out the buffet since it's a great way to try many different dishes on one trip. First of all, the selection on the buffet was great. Plenty of choices, and good quality ingredients. The service was very friendly as well. I was impressed with the flavor of the food, and how well it was cooked as that can sometimes be a challenge on a buffet when trying to keep it warm without the vegetables losing their crunchiness. I enjoyed the BBQ pork, the mushrooms in a light sauce, the many stir-fry dishes, and flavorful green beans. I also liked the layout of the buffet. It felt more open and spacious than many of them do, and the restaurant itself, while not big, had a nice layout and big windows so it didn't feel dark. I enjoyed it and we will be back. I love this place!! This is a gem! Food is always tasty and not too salty. Lots of people are surprised to find it here, but it is!!

Decided to go with the wife for a little snack and try out a hot spot and see what the fuss is all about. First I got to say the people who work there are very nice and take the time to explain and cater to your food needs. Everything is cooked to order and made fresh. I got the chicken chow mein to get my fix. Wengs Kitchen knocked it out the park. You can tell how fresh it is by the bite and taste if all the celery. The sauce was thick and the chicken on it was moist and tasty. The chow main noodles along side the rice and gravy in it made for a nice texture combination. My wife had the chicken teriyaki sticks and they were dynamite, not dried out like most places. The owner told us there are other more traditional chinese items not on the menu that we can order (beef chow fun, ginger scallon lobster, fried whole walleye). I love Chinese food and I'm not exaggerating when I say this is some of the BEST Chinese food

On Wednesday night, my wife and I decided on take out and decided to give this place a try. Although we lived in Farmington for a very long time, it is years since we ate food from Weng's. Too bad we waited so long, because the food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the Sizzling Beef and my wife wanted Sweet and Sour Chicken. We added a side of Chicken Fried Rice and was told it would be ready in 10-15 minutes, about the amount of time from our house to their shop. Everything was ready as promised and we headed back home to enjoy our meal. Local business, prompt service, reasonable prices, and delicious food... what more can you ask for?
