I used to visit Sasoun Bakery very often and had been a loyal customer for many years. Unfortunately, I stopped coming for over a year because of the lady who is always at the front. I decided to give it another try today, hoping things had changed, but sadly they had not. The food is still great, but the service completely ruined the experience. The lady at the front was very rude and had no personality or customer service. She gave me cold food, and when I politely asked if she could heat it up, she did it with a very clear attitude. When it was time to pay, I asked if they accepted credit cards. She responded that there is a fee for using a credit card and also said the machine sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Because of that, I ended up paying cash. It's really unfortunate because the food is good, but experiences like this are why businesses lose loyal customers. I have tried many times in the past to ignore the poor attitude and not make a big deal out of it, but this time it was just too much. Sadly, I will not be returning. It's disappointing when a business loses long-time customers because of one person at the front. read more

Sasoun Bakery is a staple in the area. The bakery doesn't look like much but they offer some of the most delicious lahmajoon in the area. Each lahmajoon is $2.50. There is a subcharge if you use credit card. I appreciate that there is a private parking lot for the building with two levels. I also have enjoyed their borek. read more

I wish I can put a 1 star to this place because an old employee was being rude, discriminating, and disrespectful. I came by today to this bakery and had to witness the most unprofessional and disrespectful behavior from an employee and how they treat their customers. A customer, who was white or hispanic was waiting in line patiently and the old man cashier was speaking in Armenian to other Armenian customers in line behind him. The woman behind him stated, "oh he is ahead of me". Then the old man cashier said "I dont care, I don't want to serve him" and waved his hand away towards the customer. I didn't even want to order after how I saw a customer was being treated. Review the cameras from today as there is evidence. This bakery needs to do something and take action towards this old employee. Ruining business, running, and denying service to customers to give them business. People come here to enjoy the food and culture. That man Shouldn't be working with that attitude! read more

The old Armenian guy didn't not want to serve me if you're anything by Armenian I recommend you do not come here. He purposely ignored me and took five people behind of me while I was waiting in line for 20 minutes. 100% racist I understand Armenian because I have Armenian friends. He didn't want to serve me because I'm Hispanic, but took all the Armenian customers that were behind me. Sasoun is the definition of a classic hole-in-the-wall hidden gem! Their baked goods are amazing and they'll warm them up for you if you ask. The owners are always super friendly and even offered me free samples when I went! The prices are also unbeatable--they do prefer cash, but they'll take card as well. I recommend trying the cheese beorek, meat beorek, and lahmajune. There's no seating inside, but didn't stop me from eating my pastries while they were hot & fresh! This a family business who are baking amazing traditional bread from Armenia. I felt lucky to be able to enjoy this food as we remember the genocide. We tried the Tahini bread, a flat disk of flaky pastry that has tahini incorporated into it. The texture is terrific with that mouthfeel of dense and chewy honey and sesame. Delicious!!! They carry yogurt drink in regular and mint. So refreshing. I was in a rush and couldn't stay for the Cheese Boroek to bake but that will have to wait for another visit. We were in the area and we're looking for a bakery early in the morning. This place was open so we headed there and were greeted with the loveliest aromas the moment we went inside. I didn't realize how much I got until we came home. I thought the dough on everything was just perfect. The dough to filling ratio is great (unlike some of the places I've been to in OC) and everything was seasoned well -- not too salty. I do not recommend this place. Totally NO. Old guy who is serving and a cashier at the same time should not work with food for safety reasons. In spring 2025, I observed the following. One customer in line did not like on of the boreks, took it out of bag with bare hands, hold it for a while, then put it just on the table. After that this old server, took this borek and put it on the lower shelf. I thought it will be disposed. But guess- he sold it to the next customer!!! Gross, right?? On July, 18, I was an early customer, and came to buy boreks to my guests. This old guy, took boreks from the lower shelf (5) and put on the bag. Remembering lower shelf from the last time, I asked him if those are fresh. He said yes, of course. When I arrived to Pasadena, I opened the bag.... Those boreks were no way fresh, they were even dried out on the corners. Are you kidding to sell old food ?? You serve old food, and lie to your customers?? If you want a nice simple Middle Eastern breakfast with delicious bread spicy cheeses and herbs made fresh every morning don't pass this place up at all. Stop by immediately and enjoy a traditional beautifully made flatbread snack along with a great choice of beverages to start your day right. I love the traditional over-the-counter service with a person who is putting the bread in the oven's to bake fresh and fill the entire restaurant or bakery with an aroma that is appetizing. LAHMAJUHN Pretty much what almost every reviewer describes~ an Armenian pizza of sorts! A thin, flat circle of dough perfectly baked & crisped topped with spiced meaty goodness! SUPER cheap & good! I was excited to order from Sasoun Bakery based on its good reviews, but unfortunately I received the worst customer service of my life. I ordered the 8 person package and the 4 person package for delivery because I was providing lunch for a group of 12 and wanted a variety of items. The bakery called me shortly before I was expecting the food to be delivered asking what I wanted in the order. I explained that I wanted the variety of items that came with the 8- and 4-person packages, but the man became irritated with me when I couldn't name the exact dishes I wanted. I told him I would look up on the website what was supposed to be included, but he got impatient while I was pulling up the website, told me he was canceling the order, and hung up on me. Surprised, I called back to ask about the order and he yelled at me "ORDER CANCELED!" It was extremely rude and inappropriate. I was left scrambling to find a lunch replacement on short notice. Hours later, I received a notification that my Sasoun order was out for delivery, and the food I had ordered arrived, but at 2:30pm instead of 11:30am when I had scheduled it for. What a fantastic little bakery offering Armenian treats. There's flatbreads and savory filled pastries are just delicious. And your purchases can be warmed up in their ovens. The lahmajune becomes a crispy thin crust pizza topped with savory, spiced meat. There also a vegetarian option topped with chopped herbs and olive oil...it's super bright and light. The savory hand pastries are filled options lIke seasoned potatoes, savory meat, and vegetables. What's great is that each item is less than $3. You can have a great snack or quick meal for super cheap. The shop is run by some super nice ladies. Glendale is full of little Armenian eateries and bakeries, and Sasoun is as simple as it gets! They turn out a small variety of flatbreads and pastries, and an elderly gentleman was taking hot, steaming rounds of lahmajune out of the oven as we entered the tiny storefront! These were thin flatbreads topped with a mixture of spiced ground meat, and I especially liked the crispy, cracker-thin texture of the freshly baked dough. I also had the maneishe, a puffy, chewy flatbread topped with za'atar, an herbaceous mixture of thyme, sumac, sesame seeds, and olive oil. The sesame seeds in the mixture had an almost chewy texture, which paired nicely with the salty and tangy flavor of the sumac and salt. Finally, I tried the meat borek, a perfectly golden-brown folded pastry with a filling of ground meat mixed with spices and pickles (the flavor almost reminded me of a McDonald's hamburger). Overall, this was a nice, humble small business with just a few simple baked goods on offer, but it doesn't get much fresher than this! read more

Awesome awesome spot to get freshly made, hit out of the oven (that you can see) baked goods. They also have a small amount of goods that you can buy in case you need last minute grocery items. The prices are really good for freshly made goods and you can buy extra for tomorrow's breakfast or lunch! The staff was really friendly and helpful. I walked in on a Saturday afternoon and they didn't have the quantity that I wanted for vegetarian pizza. They asked me if I was willing to wait 10 mins and they made me a fresh batch! This bakery was a bit disappointing! 1st this is a bakery stall inside a grocery shop called Jon's. We arrived there around 10:30 am and they barely has anything left. And of course they are not willing to make you anything fresh. What is out is all they got. The person taking the orders was very tired - definitely not a customer service face. He was rude, did not even give me the chance to talk him my full order which was not a lot at all. I was very excited to visit this place and all we got was disappointment! The food tasted a little less than ok, we felt that we were eating leftovers. The only reason I have it 2 stars was because the labmajun tasted not bad at all even though it was not fresh. read more

Out of the oven fresh, hot and crispy lahmajune or it can be described as armenian pizza. It's a round thin piece of dough topped with minced meat, vegetables and a variety of herbs then baked. This kid ate 3 all by herself. For the first one she ate it like a pizza, second one folded like a taco and the last one rolled it up like a burrito. Any way you decide to eat it was all good. It's perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of minced mixture. We liked it so much we had to buy some to take home and freeze so that we can have them on demand. YUM!!! Although we stopped in for the lahmajune....we also had their spicy cheese borek too right out of the oven! Didn't picture it here because it didn't make it to the picture taking without getting completely eaten. we'll take a picture next time because we'll be going back. read more

A gem that only Armenians and Arabs seem to know about. It's SO GOOD and SO CHEAP. There are three essentials: - Cheese boreg (Armenian quesadilla) - Lamajune (Spiced meat thinly spread on thin soft and crackery flatbread) (Roll it like a fruit roll up, add lemon squeeze and enjoy) - Manaishe (Mediterranean breakfast - basically na'an bread with tangy spices like sumac and oregano on top). There's nothing like it in America and it's the best thing ever. Only served for breakfast. Make sure they warm it up if it didn't come right out of the oven. They make new batches every half hour or so. Don't eat it cold. Order one of each... squeeze lemon on everything. And don't be intimidated by the foreignness of the joint. It's the bomb. Manaishe is beloved by all Armenian children. My parents would get me one for breakfast before school when I was a kid. Definitely go with that one for the kids. read more

Overall, they get four stars cause their food is reliable, fast, and delicious. Their lahmajoun is smaller than what you'd get at Paradise or other comparable places, but they don't skimp on the meat so that's nice. Also, the little fridge to the right has muhamara and theirs is on point. Not as oily as other places but definitely flavorful. The people complaining about "terrible customer service" and not being noticed by workers right away need to chill. It's all hands on deck in the back and I've never had to wait longer than a minute to talk to someone. The Lahmajoun here is sooo good. For those who don't know what it is really, it's kind of like an Armenian pizza. And it's really cheap! Three for $2.70. Or .90 a piece. You can't go wrong with a cheap lunch like that. If you can squeeze some lemon on top, then you got yourself a very pleasant meal! There are no tables inside, it really is like a factory - so just be prepared to take anything to go. And the service is really good. Very friendly people. So please give these people some business!
