Cancun,MX I'm rating my takeout experience. Food only. Stayed at JW Marriott. I was very tired on my travel day so just got a takeout dinner to take to room. I was absolutely stunned how good my food was! I ordered the xx 2 boneless chicken thighs, grilled. The flavors were absolutely wonderful. I've never seen thighs on a thigh menu so I'm gonna say it is a fusion type dish. It came with sticky or jasmine rice but I upgraded to fried Thai rice. It was so flavorful. I think it had pineapple (not my preference) so I'd ask to leave that out next time. After a couple other dinner meal misses, I decided to come back a 2nd night. I got the red curry beef with jasmine rice. It was equally good. Highly recommend this place. read more

We stayed at JW Marriott and ended up choosing to come here twice, as the food was surprisingly good! Food: We had ceviches, seafood tacos, octopus, seared ahi, salads, pork sandwich, margaritas, and wines. Everything was tender, perfectly seasoned, and fresh. Drinks were nicely balanced. Portions are plentiful. Fresh chips and salsas were delicious. Service: Both times, all servers here were attentive, friendly, and helpful. Quick, yet not rushed. Ambience: you don't get better than this, as it's right on the water. The view is the ocean. You're dining al fresco under a huge straw roof with a very Polynesian vibe. Side note: expect more Latin inspired flavors and dishes, not Thai nor Asian. If you keep that in mind, you'll love it. Highly recommend. read more

We ate here on our first night back at the JW Marriott. The restaurant has changed locations and is now the same as the Beach Bar by the pool. We were seated with an ocean front table so that was really great after a long day of travel. We started with the shrimp satay and it was superb. Not a hint of fishy taste or oder. Very fresh, very tasty, cooked to perfection. The peanut sauce was among the best I ever had. I had shrimp fried rice for my entree and it was excellent also. The wife had seafood curry and it was a huge dish of seafood cooked to perfection with an excellent curry sauce. The kid had dumplings and ate them all almost. We had Mexican martinis to drink and they were perfect. Our server was friendly and made us feel welcome. The food was better this time than when we ate the old location. The old location was good, this was excellent. I would eat here again in a heartbeat. read more

Service and ambience were a 5/5 It's right on the beach. Food 4/5 - we ordered the dumplings, which were good, but I wish they came with more of a traditional dumpling sauce instead of the sweet chili sauce. We also ordered the shrimp satay, which had an amazing peanut butter sauce to it, but the shrimp was tiny and overcooked so I would probably go with the chicken next time. Also had the cucumber salad which for me was the highlight of the meal. I asked for the little peppers on the side and I'm glad I did because they were very spicy. Then we ordered the shrimp fried rice to share, which was very good but I wish I would've said no peppers because it was loaded down with vegetables and I'm not a fan of bell peppers. Once again, another five-star experience in Cancun Mexico. We were craving Thai food for dinner, and I'm very glad we stopped here. Food: I went with the traditional choice of pad Thai and let me tell you what their version of pad. Thai is absolutely amazing. Every single bite was full thefull of flavor and very tasty. I will definitely suggest you give them a try because we were very happy with our food. My girlfriend went with the wings and obviously she shared some with me and they were absolutely amazing as well. They definitely had their own unique flavor, but they were cooked to perfection. The waitress I can't remember her name but her last name was Martinez. she was absolutely amazing and top-notch. She was a professional and make sure we were taken care of at all levels of service. The food was wonderful. The service was horrible. Our waitress failed to check back with us after our food was served. She failed to inquire whether or not we needed any condiments or if everything was okay with our food. After waiting for our bill for an extended period of time, we went to the kitchen entrance to ask for someone to close out our bills. We chose Sasi Thai based on a great recommendation from a foodie friend of ours. Based on our experience, I would be hard pressed to visit again. When we were leaving the restaurant, a couple asked how we liked the place as they were not pleased how long they had been waiting to be seated. Loved everything about this place! Such a cool atmosphere. Patio was stunning! Love music on a weekday? Yes please. Food and service- excellent. Did I mention the fresh herb garden in front of the restaurant? It's the little things that make the biggest difference. This restaurant is at the Marriott Resort and came highly recommended by all staff. I was really in the mood for seafood but so many employees said to come here for dinner- I'm glad I trusted them! Huge herb garden before you enter the restaurant. Not just for looks either- you can taste the freshness of every ingredient in the dishes! Came here with a small group. We were celebrating a birthday and the staff gave us an exceptional experience. The cool thing about this place- you can order from the different restaurants (ask for the specific restaurant menus). Keep in mind the food from other restaurants could take longer but well worth it. We ordered sushi from the Japanese restaurant as a starter. It wasn't my favorite but still good. They bring out a complimentary appetizer- which was lovely! Curry spiced nuts and wontons with an AMAZING basil dipping sauce. Seriously the sauce was a game changer. The kind you contemplate on drinking (kidding). My entire party ordered different Thai dishes, all were raved about. 3 of us got different curries. All fabulous depending on what heat level you like. The curry dishes come with jasmine or sticky rice. Get the sticky rice! So good! I had the yellow duck curry- still thinking about it days later. So much flavor with just the right amount of spicy. The staff was very friendly and accommodating!!! They made sure we had a good time. They even brought out a birthday dessert with sparklers for the birthday boy! It was some sort of chocolate mousse that should not be skipped. The cocktail menu wasn't as extensive as I thought it would be but if you have something specific in mind they are willing to make it. Came here for dinner during our first night in Cancun at the JW. This used to be at the Marriott next door but has since moved here as the Marriott gets renovated. This is the same location as where beach walk cafe during the day. They did a great job decorating it that the space can actually work well for both. Right on the water. Incredible views. Food was excellent. I tried their cucumber salad which was amazing in presentation, their shrimp spring rolls were delicious, and my filet was like butter. My wife had green curry and she loved it. The pad Thai was not the best, not sure what it was missing. They usually have a saxophonist but for whatever reason she wasn playing that day. read more

Loved the live saxophone player and the Thai food was very good, just felt the flavors were a little too concentrated and shrimps weren't like the ones used at beach walk earlier that were mild and better texture. The kids liked the Tom yum shrimp soup, my husband and I enjoyed red curry with shrimp and pad thai shrimp noodles. The shrimp egg rolls were ok. Best part of the meal was the service and the most amazing desserts. Incredible Thai food! This was my favorite spot on the Marriott properties during our vacation. We were given a complimentary appetizer of fried wontons and a Thai type guacamole. Not really sure what it was exactly, but it was very good. I also had the mushroom soup to start and it was as good as any soup can be. It had a hot and sweet flavor to it that was different than any soup I've had. I would highly recommend ordering. For my meal I had the tofu pad thai which was spicy and delicious. Very large portion size as well, but it was too good to not finish. The only downside to this place is it the location. It is right on top of the parking lot and may also be near the sewage system because there were some terrible smells during the meal. The delicious food more than made up for it however. read more

Sasi Thai had pretty decent Thai food. The complimentary appetizer was a bit interesting - it was fried wonton chips with a sort of guacamole sauce. The appetizer wasn't truly authentic, but it was complimentary which was a nice touch. I think the spice levels could go a bit higher, but they have a huge variety of dishes and you can typically find your Thai restaurant classic dishes. Wonderful dinner tonight sitting outside in the open dining area. They cooked our fish we caught today for us. First was a very cool and refreshing ceviche with mango and other fresh ingredients. Looking for gluten free menu offerings was difficult but I contacted Marriott Cancun via email and got an immediate response of what they offer and she wanted to know when we were coming so she could inform manager and chef at the restaurant! The place itself is beatiful, like you are in a outdoor village. Staff was amazing and attentive. There was a lady singing and playing the flute the Friday night we went. We ordered the Sasi Sampler for an appetizer and gluten free chicken satay. For our entrees, even though there were four of us, we only ordered 2 dishes which were both gluten free - combination fried rice and red curry chicken. Portions were huge and we still couldn't finish it all! The rice was loaded with chicken, beef, pork and shrimp. Fantastic food! read more

Came back here yet again, for our now annual trip. They moved the place while the Marriott is under construction. The food was delicious as always. Spring rolls and the green curry are again my fav. I didn't love the pad Thai it was a little sour. Cucumber salad was so beautiful and delicious, highly recommend. It's always my fav spot here. Sasi Thai has beachfront seating over looking the crystal blue ocean while being served some of the most mouthwatering Thai food around. Our waitress, Tania, was so sweet and attentive. We started with the sizzling, satayed chicken. Followed by the juicy filet with jasmine rice, crispy glazed chicken pad see ew, and delicious pork fried rice with lots of grilled vegetables. Now that I think about it, I wish we have tried their food here. We made a reservation at the noodle bar (not good at all). We did have a few drinks here, and my hubby and I enjoyed it very much. Not sure if they do lice performances every Night, but we were able to enjoy our drinks with a live band singing on a Saturday night. Passion fruit martini- so delicious!!! Stir it a little, but as it became sour towards the end, I highly recommend this drink. Lychee martini- my hubby enjoyed this drink a lot. Super refreshing, and I love their presentation of this drink. We saw people order food by the bar, and I love the aesthetic of this place. The hut and being in nature/tropical feel to is just amazing. I regret not trying out their food. read more

You will have to step off of the sidewalk and on the drive way to get into the actual entrance. The sidewalk takes you to the back of the Japanese restaurant . Highlights: + selection of typical items that you would expect to see at a Thai restaurant + many of the items are naturally Gluten Free, though some may require modification. They do use soy sauce in some of the dishes, ie fried rice; however, they do have gf option., just make sure to communicate this with your server ahead of time +They did a good job of handling cross contamination. I had no reactions after dining + they are only open during dinner. If you wish to dine at a specific time, reservations are recommend. + seating is outside in a covered area, so if you get extremely sun burnt or cold due to a breeze, plan on taking something to keep warm + for a resort area , prices are pretty fair, though if you're not careful, drinks and sides can add up pretty fast + billing systems are linked between the JW and Marriott, so you can charge to your room accordingly + they offered a light appetizer, a really good cucumber salad, as a thank you to being an elite member. read more

No need to doubt the Yelp elite! Wow! Some of the best Pad Thai I've ever had! Flavors were just perfect for my taste - not too sweet and a bit on the savory/sour side. Loved it! My favorite restaurant at the Marriott Cancun resort. Beautiful drinks (I got the tamarind martini- mmm), unwaveringly satisfying food (red curry with chicken & special req of added eggplant- YESSS), and a cozy, romantic, resort-hut atmosphere. It's open-air, but there are fans above the tables and at night time it was pleasant, only slightly hot. Added bonus- could watch the sunset from our corner table. Overall, great experience. Main course took a while to come (1.5hrs after ordering) but according to my party, they space out drinks, apps (oh right, the Nua Dad Diew (fried beef sticks) were amazing!!), and entre because dinner is supposed to be an "event" when you're on a resort. Great service at the JW. Most dishes are good, the Tom Yum soup is very tasty and authentic. Satay are also grilled and flavorful. We had the Basil chicken with eggplant that hit the spot. Thai ice tea is also spot on. The pad thai is a little different than usual. But all in all, it was a great place good enough for a return visit in a weeklong stay at the hotel. read more

We were staying at the JW Marriot, and this was one of the three places open, so, we felt it was worth the leisurely stroll over. First and foremost, the decor makes you feel like you've been transported to a small island, and they definitely have things set up for a romantic dinner. The server was incredibly attentive and my fiancee, who prefers vegetarian cuisine, was able to ask for modifications with their menu without any issue. The meal started off with complementary appetizers and sauces which we found as quite refreshing, and then we ordered spring rolls (modified to without meat) and they were prepared very well. For dinner we both ordered the Pad Thai, hers was vegetarian, mine was with chicken, and they were made and presented very well. The Pad Thai did lack the sweetness with the other tastes, but, given where we were having it, I would not put it as an issue. We saw their dessert menu's as favorable, but, already had alternative ideas so we did not partake. Will definitely be going again. read more

Nice ambience, just ok food. Contrary to popular opinion, they do not have a ton of vegetarian options. At least not compared to many other Thai restaurants I've been to. Maybe more so than compared to other restaurants in the Hotel Zone in Cancun. I ordered the yellow curry which had a curry that was just too thick. The tofu wasn't that soft and moist, it did have a good amount of veggies. The vegetarian Pad Thai noodles were decent and flavorful but had a lot of sprouts. Too oily as well. They do give a edamames as a complimentary appetizer which were a nice nutty and salty start to the meal. Decent non alcoholic beverages as well. The service was strictly ok. Our server didn't spend as much time at our table since we mainly ordered food. The best dish was the tofu appetizer. If you like peanuts, I would recommend ordering it. It's the only vegetarian appetizer on the menu. In summary - presentation of the food and the restaurant decor are the plus points. Food is strictly ok. Convenient location if you're staying at the JW Marriot next door. There's a internal walk way between the JW and the Marriot where this restaurant is located. read more

They are a little more relaxed than some other establishments we dined at. This is a romantic place and good to go on a date. I was initially going to give a 4/5, but considering the fact that every other restaurant in the Marriott resort is just garbage, I realized it was just making Sasi Thai look a lot better than it really is and I should lower the bar a bit more. Don't get me wrong, Sasi Thai is probably the best food across the entire Marriott + JW Marriott resort. The food was definitely good. We got the pad thai, pad see ew, fried rice, and the sampler. Everything was good, but some things were just off like with the pad see ew. I think they're very strict on the weight of how much they give you since the menu says it's 4 oz. So when I open up my first reaction is, why is this all meat? There were maybe 3 strands of rice noodles there. If you're thinking about the best bang for your buck, they definitely hook it up with giving you a lot of meat. But at that point am I really eating pad see ew? I'm straight up just eating beef. You could probably eat all the noodles in a single scoop and you're left with just meat and some veggies. Obviously the food was expensive as with any restaurant in a resort. The portions are decently sized. Would I come back here regularly? Probably not. Would I come back here if I only had the resort restaurants to choose from? Definitely. read more

We went to the Sasi Thai because the city bus driver said it was his favorite Thai place (12-31-19). It is located in the Marriott. It has covered, outside, seating. A tropical storm was blowing in the night we ate there so it was really breezy under the thatched roof. It was beautiful! We ordered the Pho Pia Tuna (Ahi Tuna roll with bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, carrots, basil, fried garlic, soy emulsion, and som tum dressing). The flavor exploded in my mouth! It is NOT like American Ahi Tuna that you get at a typical Outback Restaurant (seared in a black pepper and cayenne pepper seasoning and kept raw in the middle, sliced thin, and served chilled with a spicy sauce). This looks more like sushi rolls. They are packed with flavor! We next ordered Gia Satay-chicken. It is skewers of chicken breast with a light glaze served on a small grill. They were really good! Do not wait to eat them; they arrive juicy but they will dry out quickly on that grill. I suggest stacking them on the outside edge to keep the warm but not allow them to dry out! Next, we ordered Phad Thai Taw Hu (tofu, sautéed rice noodles with egg, bean sprouts, fried onions, serrano pepper, scallions and coriander tossed in a tamarind sauce). The Pad Thai was very thick and hearty. The flavors were strong and abundant. This was a good meal if you are a true Phad Thai lover. We sat at the bar because we did not know we should have got reservations ahead of time. The service at the bar was perfection! We were actually glad we ended up at the bar! Beautiful outdoor setting. We had a late dinner. I had the shrimp spring rolls which were big and the shrimp was large and fresh. I also had the crab fried rice which was delicious with some friend crab on top. I also had the coconut martini which was delicious! My boyfriend who is vegan enjoyed the fried tofu appetizer and the tofu curry. So a good choice for vegans. He wanted to go back before we left. read more
