I have been going to SAS for over 10 years and have always felt that Ken and his team are a honest shop and explain what needs to b done and will stand behind their work. I brought my 2001 Porsche Boxster in for a leak in the expansion tank. I had the water pump and expansion tank replaced in 2013 and had only driven the car about 4,000 miles and it started to leak. It was the expansion tank which was out of warranty but had to be replaced. Ken did feel bad about this as Porsche would not stand behind the parts. Ken agreed to take care of the labor and I bought the parts. Ken is a very honest person who stands by his work and will make the situation right. read more

I usually don't post reviews, but Ken was amazing - friendly, courteous and honest. I went to my dealership to get my mini cooper fixed, and they strongly recommended replacing a part that was outrageously expensive. I called Ken just to confirm if it really needed to be fixed, and he went out of his way to research the part and guidelines on their website. He scheduled me in the next day at 8 am to take a look, and he did, at no charge. He confirmed that my car was in great condition, and nothing needed to be replaced. Great service. I had multiple issues with my car which Ken explained in detail. The work was completed promptly and I immediately noticed a change in power too. He also pointed out things that may have to be fixed down the road and even offered to figure out what was happening with the oil level censor by asking me to come in when the light comes on so he can measure the oil himself. read more

I'd highly recommend Ken and the team for anyone with a German car. Ken and the team were incredibly helpful in guiding me through the (many) issues of my 2009 VW Beetle. They worked with my budget, provided me with a priority list of the order in which issues should be addressed, and was very honest with me in suggesting it was time to sell my car (as I had to put a lot of $$$ into her over the years). Ken is a great guy. He is very knowledgeable and fair. My e30 M3 wasn't running good and I took it to him to find the problem. I work at a BMW dealer and our mechanics did not find what was causing the misfire. All they did was just changing parts that cost me lots of $$$. I recently just purchased my first Porsche. I called around to different German auto shops as I wanted a 60,000 mile maintenance and a brake flush. The person we talked to seemed very knowledgeable and the estimate was decent, so I made an appt. when dropping off my car, I was first checked in by a technician. He wrote down what we were bringing the car in for, the maintence and brake flush, and a general inspection of the car. When we looked at prior maintenance records on the car we noticed it had just had the polyrib belt replaced which is done at the 60,000 so we told them that didn't need to be done, of course we assumed that would save us money from the price quoted. Then the owner came into the office, and pulled up our appt on his computer and read off what we were bringing it in for, the maintence and brake flush, and asked if we needed the car back that day. It was 8 o'clock in the morning so I was kind of surprised by that question just bringing it in for that, and told him yes. Anyways, when we picked up the car we were charged just slightly above what we were quoted which shocked me considering they didn't even have to do the polyrib belt, but paid it and left. Then when we got home I noticed they didn't even do the brake flush after we told them numerous times that's what we wanted done! I'm very disappointed in the service, and will be finding another shop. read more

I took my car to the mercedes dealership who then proceeded to tell me that my electrical system was shot and I needed a new SRS module which would cost me about $2100. Not only that, they told me my car was unsafe to drive with faulty airbags. I then proceeded to get a second opinion at SAS, where they fit me in at the last minute to check out my car and found that there was a disconnected switch under the passenger seat causing all of the error messages, not the electrical system and airbags. Ken found the problem in about 2 minutes and connected the small switch for free because it only took a few minutes. Not only that, he apologized for not checking the tire pressure, engine oil, and various other small details which I would never expect him to check anyway. It is so nice to find an honest and knowledgeable auto repair place and they have definitely earned a customer for life! I would highly recommend this business. read more

This place definitely deserves 5 stars only because usually anything to do with car repair is a sure ripoff. I usually go to the BMW dealership for convenience but they charge me twice what the work is worth. Im on a budget this month and needed something a little more in my price range so decided to try this place out. They were generous enought to just charge me for the battery I needed since by itself was so costly. Way cheaper than any other place in the area. Gave me some great advice on what to do about future issues Im expecting and quoted me what i think was a fair price. I will definately be back. read more

Our 2007 BMW X3 was in for the 30K service and some warranty repair work at the local BMW dealership when they broke the bad news to us. You need brakes all around and it looks like the it will cost about $2700-$3000.00 to do all 4 wheels, replace pads and replace with new rotors, flush brake fluid check brake lines, replace pad sensors. Researched SAS German and met Ken about 6 months ago. Between Ken's straight talk and the Yelp reviews, we took our X3 over to Ken's shop last week and he performed the quoted work by the BMW Dealership and saved us over $1,000.00 !!!!!!!!. I guess the BMW dealership has a huge overhead with all of those Service Advisors running around and they have to pay for all of those car washes after the car is serviced. Take your German automobile to SAS German and save big time. You will come away impressed with the impeccable service and walk away with more dough in your pocket. Thank you Ken, Stan and Alicia. I had a very pricy problem involving a replacement of my axle on a 2005 Volkswagen GTI. The owner Ken greeted me through the door, and addressed my problem, within a few hours he had diagnosed the exact cause, and spent an extensive amount of time explaining to me various routes to fix the issue. As a college student, he understood my budget, but also explain possible precautionary issues that may arise from taking cheaper routes. He refused to use cheaper made (and cost) replacement parts due to their poor quality. In the end his price came to being $100 less than the dealership. His time spent reviewing the work order and helping me made me feel the passion he has for a job...plus its always good to help small business owners. (you are more than just a number in their que.) - I RECOMMEND THIS SHOP FOR ALL GERMAN AUTOMOBILE OWNERS. Took my late model Audi A4 to SAS so they could investigate the check engine light. Diagnosing and solving the problem wasn't straight forward, but they kept me informed of their progress and solved the problem. Happy customer. Will go back to SAS. read more

Our family has a R350 and Ken has been servicing our car from the very beginning. We felt that he was honest and all the reviews were great. Everything was fine (at least we thought) until our last service where besides labor the only parts that needed to be changed was the air filter and brake fluid. We thought the services were done but when we took our car into the dealer for a warranty service they informed us that the filter and brake fluid were severely need of replacement. We called Ken and told him and he said that it was done and don't know what the dealer was talking about. We took our car into him again. He did doubled check and was at least honest enough to tell us that indeed the services were not performed. We were obviously very disappointed and lost confidence in him but we liked him to give him another chance for our break changes. He agreed on giving us a discount but when we recently called him for an appointment he didn't even return our call. We obviously will now take our car somewhere else so buyers beware here. He indicated to us that this does not happen very often and would do anything to make up for it but obviously he didn't back up his words here. read more

I own a BMW 323is for several years. I am very handy with cars and trucks and know my way around a motor. I took my car in for service to SAS for simple things that I just didn't have time to do on my own and had good experiences. Soon after, the big one hit. I needed to get a new radiator put in my car. I took it down to SAS because I thought Ken was a good guy and would get the job done honestly and quickly. While the work was done quickly it was not done honestly. I got an extremely large bill and was curious as to why it was so expensive. I soon found out that instead of overcharging for labor Ken was increasing the prices of each part by several hundred dollars over the retail value. All together, had I simply purchased the same exact parts myself from my local auto parts store I would have saved roughly $400! I showed them my parts list and where the same exact part with the same manufacturer had it priced cheaper everywhere else I looked and they said that they couldn't get the parts for those prices. All I had to do was walk 5 minutes from there shop and I could buy the parts cheaper! While they do good work for simple stuff, I will never return because of the price gauging they do. I suggest if you think about getting your work done by them to get a list of what parts you need and reference it to their price. They have a nice shop, but I now go to a place I can trust instead of them. read more
