They quoted me a price, then added the cost of a COI. Which is normal but when I decided to cancel the quote because I had a better option for my move, they insisted on me paying $75 for the COI. They were insistent and harassing by messages for me to finally pay the $75 for what they claim was the COI. They had asked I pay for a cancellation fee of $100, when I didn't even pay a deposit to confirm the reservation. I can't recommend them because of how they handled this simple cancellation without anything signed. read more

My boyfriend and I were referred to Sarmiento moving by one of our friends who had a great experience, I can say that we had the same exceptional service! They brought a team of 7 men for our 1 bedroom Brooklyn apartment and were so fast in moving all of our boxes. We had a complicated IKEA Queen size bed frame that they literally disassembled in a matter of 20 minutes so that it could fit through the front door, and miraculously moved our Queen size sleeper sofa out of our small front door and down the small building elevator. They managed to rebuild said bed frame at our new place, and were the most polite team of men. Pricing was less than any other moving companies that had quoted us and it was worth every penny. Sarmiento moving recently helped us move our 2-bedroom apartment in Brooklyn. They offered us by far and away the best price, showed up on time, and went above and above to pack and carefully move every item. Who knew movers in NYC were so expensive. WOW. And I've heard horrible stories of movers trying to charge you more at drop off or holding your stuff hostage. Well that is not these guys. I found his business card visiting the building off of that negative comment below (Bret H). Ok, so maybe they should have asked before papering the building - they didn't mean any harm. Anyway, Antonio and his guys where awesome, experts, and professional. They wrapped my bed mattress, couch, and ottoman so they wouldn't get dirty or torn at no additional cost. They were super quick in moving everything out of my old apt in Brooklyn and even quicker in getting everything into the new apt in Astoria. There was a little disagreement in initial price, to be fair I didn't realize I had more stuff then initially quoted. That was the only little hiccup but again he was super fair (only charged me 80 bucks more). The new price was STILL lower than any other quotes I had gotten. So as long as you are upfront of what you have or let him come do a walk through, you won't have any issues. I was so impressed by them I even recommended him to my boss about moving our Mid-town office to Chelsea...let's just say they busted a mission for us there. 5-more stars please! I'm the superintendent for a thirty unit apartment complex in Brooklyn. These guys recently moved one of my tenants out. While they were here, they stuck business cards into every door jamb in the entire complex. They tacked them to every available bulletin board. They even took magnets from one tenant's door, to stick a card to another tenant's door. I called their office to complain. They were very apologetic, said it would be corrected 'right away'. Two days later, I'm taking all the cards down and apologizing to my tenants for what appears for all the world to be a security breach. Not in ten years of working here have I encountered a company so brazenly rude. If you want a service provider that disrespects your property, and that of your neighbors, while leapfrogging you to their next client, these are the guys to call. read more

My move was scheduled for 10:00 AM. It wasn't until noon that I got a call saying that they had arrived. (The excuse was that they had an earlier job that went over. Note: they told me I would be the only job that day). When they called, however, they were on 3rd Avenue in Manhattan instead of the same street name in Brooklyn (I double checked the original booking to make sure I didn't mess that up and it, in fact, it did say Brooklyn). It took them another hour to get to my place making the start time over 3 hours late. Once they got moving they were fine. They were going to send four guys but could only get three. And since they started late, they missed the window at my new building and had to negotiate bringing things up and leaving them in the hallway so they didn't overuse their allotted time on the service elevator. Throughout the whole move, the owner/dispatcher was not apologetic at all and kept trying to get me to pay cash without a receipt. Completely unprofessional. Everything eventually arrived in one piece but I would not recommend this company to friends. read more

Sarmiento Moving corp helped move me from from Queens to 2 hours away in a different state. Considering it was my first move, I spoke to a variety of companies for quotes and insight. By far, Sarmiento Moving Corp offered me the best rate and kindly explained the process to me. The main guy Antonio was so friendly and assuring. After selecting them, you can request a contract if you want but know that it's not what they will automatically send you. No frills! Tip: It's always helpful to send them an itemized list of furniture, photos and types of boxes you'll be making as they do not send you a spreadsheet in advance- you want to make sure both parties are in alignment. Insurance isn't tacked on so you can make that request if you'd like to pay that extra cost. Antonio and Anthony always picked up my calls, always answered every stray question, emailed me back and gave me the confidence I needed that everything was going to be taken care of. On the day of, they came exactly right on time and brought about 4 extra hands on top of the 3 main commuters just to load. What was originally estimated to be an hour was done in half. They were FAST. Everything was neatly packaged and brought to the truck within minutes. In addition, they were such troopers hauling all my belongings up a 5 story walk up for my new building. All furniture was in tact. Overall- they had positive attitudes from beginning to end, communicated well and did not bamboozle me with any additional costs. They stuck to the contract. Needed to move, and someone in the area recommended them to me. I called, Antonio was very nice, we set up a time, he gave me the quote, everything was good to go. We confirmed that they would arrive between 11 and 12. At 12:15 called to see where they were. Was told they were 30 minutes away. Over an hour goes by so I call again. Told they were 3 minutes away. 40 minutes go by and we decide we're going to cancel since they were already 2 hours late. At this point, Antonio would not answer my calls. The truck eventually arrived and parked in front of the house. My partner and I were deciding what to do since we had decided to cancel. After 10 minutes, we go outside. We are on a beach block. The movers had left the truck, and gone to the beach - no joke. One of the movers got me on the phone with Antonio, who told me that the movers weren't his sons and he couldn't control their actions. There was no apology, no offer of any money back etc. The last and best part is that since they had finally arrived, my partner and I said they might as well take the things since we had waited and this was our move-in day. They said "that's okay" and left. Worst experience with a business I've ever had. read more

I needed to hire a moving company and was recommended Sarmiento after another moving company didn't show up. Sarmiento was 2 hours late but when I saw them work, it overshadowed all that. They are quick, efficient and take such great care of your property! I have a large American flag and one of the gentlemen rolled it carefully with pride. It was humbling. They wrapped everything in plastic and put padding under furniture to keep them from scratching the floor. Usually, a good moving company who is insured will charge you $700+ for a 1 BR. Let us begin... I was put in charge to move my small company to our new office. We are a small startup with not much budget. A friend had recommended Sarmiento Movers and I have to say I have nothing bad to say about them. They came to my office to do an estimate and worked with me on the price to make sure I stayed within budget. We were moving from a very strict midtown building with a bout a million rules. The building was extremely unorganized and we had some last minute changes to the logistics of our move because of it. Sarmiento went with the flow and were extremely accommodating. Because of the last minute changes I had to be charged some additional charges, which I completely expected but even then they were reasonable. They could have taken advantage of my situation (like any other moving company would have), but they didn't. As for the move, they were organized, fast, and attentive of our things. I have moved from Jackson height to flushing at 30th April,2019 & used Sarmiento Moving corp as my mover. Before my moving, I've showed my furnitures and give them an exact idea about my boxes & luggages. The guy was a spanish(guess his name was something like Antonio or Santiago type) who estimated the costs & we fixed the total. I thought the service would be nice. But it was a disastrous services. At my moving day, I offered them juice & snacks at their arrival hoping they would be nice with my stuffs(I had only a bed, small dresser, armoire & small dining table for 4 people). At first, they arrived very late & start increasing the amount which was already fixed & was not putting enough wrapping paper on my stuffs. I was requesting them throughout the process to put wrapping properly and was helping them in the process also(which was their duty actually). With my utmost disappointment, I've found that they had damaged all my stuffs. My 4 leather chairs got cut & holes as they didn't wrap them, they broke my new armoire door & lost the screw, my dresser bottom's was broken. Only my bed was little ok but still got a lot of sketches. They've damaged all my stuffs in-spite of my helping them with everything & offerings them food & also paying more than fixed rate. I wouldn't even give them 1 star. read more
