I don't know why I keep randomly coming back here once a year or once every two years. The family was hungry after a lot of errands and we were hoping for some healthy fast food asian style. One of the members of my family saw Sarku from the parking lot and choose this. Upon entering, the restaurant's ambiance felt quite worn down, with outdated tables and chairs that had clearly seen better days. The surfaces were sticky, and both high chairs were cracked and unstable, which was a concern since we had a little one who wanted to use one. I couldn't allow them to sit in something unsafe, which made our visit less enjoyable as they laid in the booth the whole time asking to be feed. I didn't find the menu to be very appeasing. Everything was roughly $15 plates. I took the lowest calorie hibachi which was chicken and rice combo with veggies. The portions are big, but the food doesn't seem wholesome. It feels like filler with oil/butter. The gyoza dumplings, to us, were inedible. If you are looking for cheap mall food for the quantity and not quality, I'd say go here. They even offer a stamp card so if you buy so many meals from them you can earn yourself a free one. If you are looking for quality food that will fuel your body, a clean environment to bring your family, then I would not recommend this place. read more

Ok before I rant about this place I need to give you some background info, I love Asian cuisine and I love leaving a great review. This review is a PSA for everyone considering coming here. This place is one that I have tried for years and came back time & time again, and it's been the same experience every single time. Ok first off the place is DIRTY. The ground next to the soda machine has been sticky for literally five years. And the tables have been gross 95 percent of the time I have been there. Next, one time I went into this place the woman handling the salads who was very visibly sick, was touching the food with her bare hands ( this was during COVID ). Also the food is ok, but I wouldn't put my life in the hands of that sushi if it was my only option. I don't like to give bad reviews but it is what it is. I give this place a 2/10. I went today to Sarku Japan in this location I'm a big fan of this food however , today I ordered 2 beef and shrimp teriyaki plates and I added chicken to them for 2.59 plus They were fast and the service was alright i got my ordered but then I got home I found out that there wasn't not even 1 shrimp on both of my plates! Is not like I added shrimp and they forgot to add it I added chicken to my beef and SHRIMP! I've gotten takeout from Sarku multiple times before since it's a quick and inexpensive option when craving Asian food. I'd always order the chicken or shrimp teriyaki entrees, and there's the option to substitute white rice with brown rice, fried rice, or noodles which I liked. The portions are pretty good for the price, but I always wished the vegetables had more broccoli. Overall, the quality is decent. I most recently ordered the shrimp teriyaki combo with spring rolls to-go though, and as I was eating I saw a long piece of hair embedded in my rice. I know for a fact that it was NOT my hair and I immediately lost my appetite and couldn't finish my meal. Unfortunately, I most likely won't be coming here again after this incident. read more

First time visitor to Dulles Landing and came across this establishment, which operates as self service (I.e., place the order at one end of the counter and pick it up at the other end of the counter). Both the chicken and beef dishes were fairly bland which was OK for our moods. This place still felt like we were in lockdown with all the tape markers all over the floor and some tape pieces still stuck to some tables. This place has gone downhill. Staff is not polite. Customers in front of me had an issue with the kiosk and the woman behind counter with a pink phone gave her the biggest attitude. Not to mention she kept speaking to everyone in Spanish like people understand. (They were Asian btw). lol I know we have brown skin but i mean come on.. she even was speaking to me in Spanish like im supposed to translate. I finally had to tell her I don't speak Spanish. I was delighted to find a stand alone Sarku Japan eatery not in the food court. I stopped by and ordered spicy chicken with shrimp, Vegetables and rice. The ordering was efficient and rather quick as I'd expect from the mall. I came home and ate the meal and did notice the sauce was a bit heavy handed on chicken but overall it was delicious. I had plenty of chicken and shrimp. I might try it without spicy sauce next time. read more

I walked in and was not greeted or acknowledged at all. The cashier just stood there silent. I said hello and he still didn't speak. He only spoke to tell me "vegetables come with it" (with attitude) when I ordered my chicken teriyaki, double meat, white rice with vegetables. We had just discovered this shopping center and saw there was a Sarku Japan. I've tried this chain before at the Springfield Mall food court, way back when. It was solid eats and I remember them being generous with the portions. This location is new and spacious. It's not in a food court and there is plenty of seating inside. The employees do a good job keeping the tables and restaurant clean. They had a grand opening special on their Chicken Teriyaki for $4.99. It's a good deal since this dish is usually $6.19. It comes with white rice and mixed veggies. Don't forget to ask for extra teriyaki sauce on the side, it's good stuff. Employees are friendly and quick. Silverware, sauces, napkins, drinks are within reach. Not a bad option to have when you're looking for a quick bite to eat. read more

It came with 3 dumplings, 4 sushi rolls and a little salad. The portion was generous enough and I like the variety. But the chicken was flavorless and soft to the point where it didn't even seem like meat. There wasn't enough salad dressing given, and there wasn't enough sauce on the chicken. It barely covered the chicken and the rice was left with pretty much no sauce. The dumplings also had meh flavor and the sushi rolls tasted low quality. They had imitation crab in them. This place is a hidden fast food sushi restaurant. My husband and I went here on April 1 - which happened to be Easter Sunday. The place was pretty quiet for 12:30pm. A family of 4 sat at one table and then another couple was located off to the side in a booth. We took a few minutes to figure out what we wanted. The menu is not very expansive, but I was trying to decided between a Bento box or sushi. I went with a Volcano Roll and a Chicken Teriyaki Roll. My husband settled on the Green Dragon Roll and the Rock and Roll (I think!?). I thought the size of the rolls was very nice! The fusion rolls are very large for their $8.59 price tag and you get a lot of fish in the rolls. I enjoyed the flavors and the rice was extremely fresh! The rolls were slightly warm - but not like hot sushi or anything... just a nice warmth from the rice being freshly made and rolled. It was a wonderful element versus the normal ice cold sushi that you get from the grocery store. I was not a fan of the Chicken Teriyaki roll. It was bland and not a lot of flavor. Would not get again. The building is very large for the small selection of food they offer. They could probably get away with a smaller store front and fewer tables, but having only been once, I'm not sure if they are very busy at others time. A good number of folks came to place "to go" orders once we sat down, so it seems like this place might do well with take out customers. I like that it is close to my house and I can pop by on my way home to grab sushi for dinner. Not giving 5 stars because the place wasn't as clean as I thought it should be. With few customers, it seems like someone could be wiping tables and sweeping the floor. Our table had some crumbs and was slightly sticky. One of the table legs was wobbling which almost had our food flying off the table when my husband set down the tray! For as new as this place is, I think it should be much cleaner and brighter. Our go-to fast food. Kids love their soba and Teriyaki and rice. It never disappoints. It's not fancy, but consistent. I am giving this place full stars because I placed a LARGE order for my sons party. My husband coordinated everything easily with the manager via email and text, and he also gave excellent recommendations on portions to order for our party size. When it came time to pick up order, we were amazed with the quantity and quality of food. We ordered enough for 30 people and we got large trays of chicken, rice, noodles, and 2 large sushi platters. They packaged everything and provided napkins, cutlery, chop sticks, sauces, wasabi, ginger. Everything. The order was cooked on time and perfectly piping hot for our guests. I've been to this location a few times. I merely take it for what it is. Average. I'm not always on the search for the greatest meal ever. Sometimes, pretty good suits me just fine. I've read a few of the horror stories that some people have experienced and with my experience, and while I haven't had them, I find them highly credible. The teriyaki chicken was mediocre and lacking flavor outside of liquid smoke. In fact, within 2 hrs of eating, I felt nauseous. I was bold enough to get a tempura roll, and it was simply disappointing. It was mushy, and given the ingredients, the contrasting textures should have been more apparent. Bottom line, if you're looking for a quick chicken and rice combo, there's a few other places I'd recommend first. I understand I walked in 10 minutes before closing. That doesn't mean the staff has to be rude and deny me service. I've worked in the food industry before and you serve the customer even if they walk in a minute before you close. Lock the doors if you don't want to serve people. CLOSING the store starts when the clock hits the closing time. Then you start cleaning and shutting everything down. I only come here when I'm in a hurry, hungry and don't feel like driving further out for decent food because I live in the middle of freaking nowhere. I also come here when I'm looking for cheaper options than Shiro on the corner of 50 and gum springs. The chicken teriyaki isn't bad for a cheap meal and the sushi is decent enough. I have been coming here for many years and the food used to be good. It is not how it was before and to top it off they reduced their portions. The worst part of it is that it doesn't come with the yum yum sauce anymore. They used to give you one free one and if you wanted a second one then they would charge you. But to not include one with the meal that you are paying $15 dollars already, without any sauce? Then to tell me it's an extra $1if I want any sauce at all, no thank you. I got the Chicken Bento Box, a Crispy Spring Roll, & Rock and Roll Fusion Roll. Chicken Bento Box: I asked for noodles instead of rice, but I regretted it. They cook the noodles with teriyaki, so with the teriyaki chicken... It was a lot of teriyaki. The chicken is cheap chicken, and the lettuce pieces in the salad were HUGE. The California roll wasn't too bad, but the "fried" dumplings were not crispy as they should've been. Crispy Spring Roll: Only a dollar and some change extra. It was kind of oily, but I liked the taste of the filling and the crispness of outside. The filling was definitely seasoned well, and the roll itself is longer than the norm. That made me happy. Rock & Roll Fushion Roll: I liked the taste, and it definitely had the spice that I like, but I believe the salmon on top is cheap salmon. So, if you're looking for that "5 Star" quality kind of Japanese food, don't come here. But if you wanna have a little something, then the price is pretty decent and the food tastes alright as long as you have the right expectations. Every time I drive towards 50 I would always see this new shopping center. Finally I stopped and drove through. And it was a great idea! Sakru Japan is really yummy! I ordered the chicken and shrimp teriyaki with fried rice and the salmon avocado roll. The chicken and shrimp teriyaki was tasty. The teriyaki sauce was absolutely spot on. My only complaint is that I wish they would give you more sauce when you order to go. I was skeptical at first to get the sushi but I'm really glad I did. It tastes very fresh and was definitely worth it! I can't wait to go back and try more of their rolls. With the prices and quality level at sakru you really can't say no! It is fairly a good place for fast but relatively healthy meal. However, the owner of this restaurant requires more attention to manage staffs. 1. Refer the attached photo. They don't clean up the grill, and it caused all the burnt debris from grill mixed with your food. This place wants customer to suffer from cancer or what??? This happens literally every visits. 2. The problem with cook again is not to give the portion for customer evenly. My mom got nearly 2/3 of chicken only with no teriyaki sauce. This happens once in 4 to 5 visits. 3. Some staffs seem to be part-time and students. The problem is to have fun time while working when their friends visited. I noticed today that they gave a dish to their friend first although it's not in order. The other guest waited and got angry by waiting too long. I could see that it was intercepted and given to their friend first... If there was a manager, this wouldn't ever happened. I blame the lack of manager presence. But food is still good. They have gone away from providing soy sauce containers so pick up a lot of the ubiquitous packets. Big hit and specific selector for my business. Calories are posted on the menu. While it's definitely Japanese fast food and not at all authentic, Sarku Japan serves some tasty chicken teriyaki. I usually order the bento box which comes with 4 pieces of California roll, 3 gyoza, and a small salad with ginger dressing. We have all been to the Sarku Japan at the malls, however this stand alone restaurant tops them all. They offer more items on their menu. They serve everything from chicken teriyaki to sushi rolls. The prices aren't too bad; you can come out with a bento box for under $10. Hopefully they will continue to have daily specials. The food is freshly prepared and delicious and the portions are just right. All the workers are kind and greet you when you walk in and out. Definitely will be a regular here! read more
