He had it on speaker phone in addition I was able to hear the whole cones .They lady who answered the phone who said her name was Maria had a very hostile attitude. It was very unpleasant! She told my husband and I that our food was made correctly, my husband ordered a fried egg and got a scrabbled egg. Maria then told us how we should have ordered our food, and then started screaming at us. My husband then told her "Hey you know what it's ok" she was so aggressive then she started yelling louder "you want to come pick it up then come pick it up , pick it up pick it up" my husband and myself were very disappointed . My friend and I tried Sara's for the first time recently. The scramble was just a good at the menu described it. The location on the map might seem strange, but yes, it is in the midst of a surrounding residential area. The signage is clear and there is decent parking. Comfort food and plenty on the plate to enjoy. Very popular when we were there on a Saturday. Worth the wait if you cannot be seated right away. Definitely going again and again. read more

Been coming here on and off for a decade. Usually fairly solid. Came for the first time in maybe 8-9 months a few weekends ago. My son's pancakes were like concrete and were nearly flavorless. My chicken cheese steak came out with ingredients I asked to omit and then was inedible after it was remade. The fries were cold (the first time it came out), the chicken was dry, hard and not seasoned, the bread was stale or nearly. Pretty disappointing. I'm having trouble remembering what the issue was with my wife's bacon and eggs but something was up there too. Server was nice but also needed to be asked 3x for the appropriate amount of waters. Reviews are accurate in regard to owner. After politely asking why a party was being seated who was on list after us she snapped at me. They sat us soon after. We weren't given menus, had to retrieve myself. The party of 4 who arrived after us was attended to first- we were a party of 3. Wait staff was good, service quick once seated. Tasty omelettes & scrambles, I like how you can substitute toast for fruit with no extra charge. Some healthy options like the vegetable scramble are really good, I loved the hash browns. My friend got pancakes and they were normal, kind of bland without syrup but not bad! I would probably not get those again just because it doesn't seem to be something they specialize in. The inside was really stuffy so I'm glad I sat outside but it was kind of weird/scary having people drive up to your table while you're sitting and trying to have a nice conversation, kept me on edge a bit haha. read more

For review 1500, I wanted to highlight a gem of a family restaurant that serves amazing breakfast (at least from what I have tried) and superb service! On Memorial Day, a friend and I stopped by Bill's to have brunch around noon. The line was long and a 45 minute wait. We called the other Bill's, and it would be a 45 minute to hour wait. She mentioned Sara's nearby, and I think Bill's is good but not 45 minutes let me wait around while I'm starving good. So I called Sara's and they had no wait! Some people might think that's a bad sign, but when you're hungry, no line is good news! Sara's is also in a residential area, tucked away on its own. Saw a lot of hustle and bustle, and we put our names down, 3rd in line. I quickly had looked at some yelp reviews, and saw a lot about their corned beef. From the photos I liked that I saw it was real corned beef and not the canned kind. We were quickly seated and our waitress was so friendly and nice. They had so many good things on the menu, and the prices were really reasonable. I decided on the corned beef benedict with hash browns, my friend went with the linguica and eggs. Lots of food coming out and our drinks continued to be refilled without asking. I loved the family vibe of this restaurant as I observed the employees. However, we then noticed our food was not coming out for quite some time, when other people seated after us had gotten their heaping plates of yummy food. Our waitress must have sensed our impatience of waiting 20 minutes so she brought out a plate of house potatoes. I normally do not like house potatoes, but these changed my mind. Tons of garlic, sauteed bell peppers and onions, WOW. I will order these any day! Our food came out soon after, and everything was so flavorful. Corned beef with the same sauteed veggies, poached eggs, and delicious hashed browns. And of course the pepper plant on the side to make it even better. Typically I do not eat my entire plate, but I almost licked my plate clean. As we went to pay, we got to meet Sara herself, and she is a sweetheart. My family and I were in Santa Clara for the weekend. We decided to give this place a chance. I do feel a little bad about leaving this review but it sucks to go out and spend about $80 for 4 people and not really get your money's worth. I understand this is the risk you take when going out to eat. It looks this place has great intentions but I was disappointed. Let me tell you the reasons, I ordered French toast and asked for strawberries, blueberries and whip cream to be added. Otherwise it wouldn't been just plain french toast with syrup. They forgot the whip cream and the strawberries were not fresh. My daughter's avocado benedict had old bruised avocado slices and the hollandaise sauce turned chunky. The "house fries" are not our style. They were mooshy and just strange. My husband's steak and eggs looked good but the steak had no flavor thank goodness for A1 sauce. Also he ordered it medium and brought it well done. He asked for regular fries and they brought the mooshy house fries. I usually take pictures when we go out to eat i love the colors and how they present them. I just didn't bother this time. I really enjoy breakfast at Sara's. We usually come during lunch. I've had the Chicken Fried Steak (my favorite here), the Linguica and eggs which was not bad either, I would suggest "the Hangover" if you're really hungry but the latest time I had the "World Famous" Philly Cheese Steak. Not a fan. First off, the roll really makes the Philly Cheese Steak. Other places outside of Philly brag about importing rolls from Philly or serving Amoroso rolls. The French bread roll they served was not good and the meat was sparse. I always prefer beer battered onion rings over the breaded variety so I was excited about these. But the onions in these were soggy; they didn't have that crunch to them - kinda like the onions were wilted, limp or something. Went there by invite for breakfast business meeting at the local diner near SCU campus where I attended the University. Wait-staff very kind, friendly, great service. Busy place, lots locals it seemed, thus, food came out a bit cold but the staff was extremely nice but really busy (Understandable). Since it was a business breakfast, we spent more time talking while eating breakfast than normal "table-turn" time. It was obvious that we may have lost track of time a bit to potentially cause longer wait time for those that came to eat there, not enough tables (did not pay attention I guess during our meeting). Bill came, handed the CC for payment, and a lady came to our table and literally yelled at us "Very Rudely", "You guys have been here way too long, cant you see there are customers waiting in-line?!" and literally threw us out of Sara's Kitchen. Our presumption was the lady who kicked us out rudely was the Owner. Wouldn't have been better to softly say "Guys, how the food? Would it possible to clear your table so that those waiting in-line can enjoy as well? Our kitchen is really busy on Saturday mornings..." vs. "Belching out, you guys need to get out! Can't you see there are people waiting? You've here over an hour!!!" like a very pissed-off owner whom had experienced hardship during COVID19 and trying to recover her losses. Fairly understandable but not good tactics & business strategy. I like bed & breakfast type of diners that are non-franchised personally. Hope they (smaller mom&pop shops) survive to provide those that like the home-style cooking & diners that are cozy. Diner was nice, Food was not bad. Now my Daughter is weird because she only eats Vietnamese food, at most maybe throw in some Chinese food but never have I heard her request for something other than that. We were leaving Santana Row and what did I do? I pull up my trusty iPhone w/ my beloved Yelp app to browse through my list of bookmarks. I know that Amato's is awesome but I wanted to try and knock out as much as I can in my bookmarks because I have over 700. We landed here in less than 10 minutes. The food took some time even though it wasn't really busy but staff kept us informed and checked on us so I was a happy camper. The meat was tender and the bread or baguette that was used reminded me of Vietnamese sandwiches but it somehow incorporated very well together. I am always on the lookout for a good breakfast place in San Jose. I had not stumbled across this one before, but it looked good. My death row meal is a cheese steak sandiwch, But the wedding is in 3 weeks and I am sworn off carbs, so this place has a Cheese steak OMELET. wahoo! We spilt the omelet (a cheese steak omelet with Mushrooms and avocado). ordered it with Home fries (no carbs in home fries right?) and an english muffin. It was good, but certianly not nearly as satisfying as a sandwich. I was a bit annoyed that they brought out the english muffin about 6 min before the meal (I like them together). When we got there we were told a 30- 40 min wait, but it was only about 20 mins. Solid Santa Clara breakfast + brunch joint! Came here on a weekend with a group of gals to catch up and eat. We were seated immediately, and I noticed that there were a few empty tables. The seating arrangements are various so big groups and smaller parties can come and enjoy their morning together. Parking is a small private plaza, but I also snagged some street parking which worked out great. Let's move onto the bites! My veggie scramble was honestly just average. The flavors weren't as fully infused into the egg as I wanted it to be, and I had to add a bit more pepper to bolster the veggies. I do like how there were a colorful variety of veggies used though! I was quickly scouring through the menu to see if there were any savory options I could have as a veggie-eater and pescatarian. Unfortunately the only veggie-friendly option that wasn't sweet was a few selections of omelettes or egg dishes. That's fine, I'm used to that. All of their daily specials from Tues-Friday were also all meat, so maybe add some veggie options and that will make the menu feel a bit more inclusive? Just an idea! I did love that each meal came with one pancake which was probably what I would order if I come back another time. Their pancake was so soft and not overly large in portion size. It was a great option instead of a piece of toast or english muffin, which I never order in breakfast places. Service was the best part about Sara's. We always had our water and/or coffees full, and they didn't come around too often to interrupt our conversation. Perfect for those who are looking for a place with chill staff in the morning! I stopped by for a bite to eat with my entire family today. We all absolutely loved each breakfast entree and found the service fantastic! The waitress and the hostess were very nice and came by our table often. My family ordered the steak and eggs with hash browns, eggs Benedict with fruit, veggie Benedict with hash browns and three side orders (steak, hash browns and country gravy). All of the food was fantastic and came out in a timely manner. Sara's Kitchen is a great place to visit if you are looking for some morning comfort food. Plus! You will drive by the pink wall located across the street. My family and I did not know what was behind the pink wall. We spent most of our meal at Sara's eating good food and guessing what was the purpose of the pink wall. Halal but cook all Meats on same Grill!!! I called Sara's Kitchen this morning to ask if they serve halal food and whether they use separate utensils for cooking bacon vs halal meats. The person on the phone (who claims to be the supervisor, and I think might be Sara) first hung up the phone after saying I don't have the right to ask that and then when I called back started attacking me. When I told her her behavior was not acceptable she told me to go to another place if we doubt her. She finally said she cooks all meats on the same grill and that they have only one grill. So if you care about halal food you should avoid this place based on the answer I got. read more

I like diners. For example, Southern Kitchen in Los Gatos has been my favorite since I was a little kid. Too bad I'm not living near there anymore! But at least there's this gem I've found: Sara's Kitchen. I first went a year ago, and afterwards walked around Carmelite Monastery, which is across the street. My experience was basically, "great eggs hollaindaise and a tranquil garden". Since then I've met up at Sara's with friends and coworkers, and gone often to grab a quick bite solo. I've tried a variety of their dishes and every one has pleased me. I've had at least three different benedicts, one of which includes country fried gravy - every one as good as a benedict I've been served anywhere else. I've had a burger; it was so big I had to eat it with a fork and knife. I know, I wussed out, but the burger was too excellent to try to eat with my hands. Speaking of that burger, that day I asked if they could give me a lil' something off-the-menu: garlic fries. Being the diner Sara's is, our server had no problem whipping up some impromptu garlic fries, and he didn't skimp on the garlic. Just today I tried their fish and chips for the first time. The fish were crispy and hot, not soggy at all, and the fish didn't have that offish fish taste you'll get with old fish. Nope, it was great. Nearly cleaned my plate off. Would've too, but I was in a hurry, and Sara's closes at 2. "Wow, they close at 2? Lame", you might be thinking. WRONG! Excellence takes specialization, and Sara's is an excellent diner that specializes in breakfast, brunch and lunch. You want food past 2? Go to Denny's. But you won't get food this good, with service to match. Speaking of the service - You ever go to a restaurant and the servers don't stop by every 10 - 15 minutes to make sure your meal is going fine, refill your water or coffee, etc? That won't happen at Sara's. Every time I go I get servers stopping by at least once every 10 minutes to refill my drinks and get me anything if I want it. As a person who appreciates service, I really value this. Another example... I always kill the creamer. No other restaurant besides Sara's actually CONSISTENTLY asks me if I'd like MORE creamer. 10/10 diner food, 10/10 service. Eat at Sara's. Bring your whole family. The energy was nice and welcoming, both the busser and the server did a fantastic job! Food was good. I would say 3/5. I went in with a group of 6 and we ordered different things and tried them. Here's my rating and why Food 3/5 Server 5/5 she was wonderful Space and interior 3/5 Cleanliness 4/5 Cashier 0/5 The cashier ruined our experience. She added the order wrong and charged us $167. We calculated the order and should come up to $120. That's not the problem. Mistakes happen and I'm very kind. I asked her to calculate the order because I think it was wrong. She was rude and upset and said "fine since you have nothing else to do right?" She calculated wrong I told her we didn't order a few things and she said fine I took it off. Then her calculations came up to $187 even more than the previous After doing it again and slower she came up to $137 which was still $17 over and said "there, you happy now?" No I was not but I kept my composure. I pay with card and and she hands me the iPad thing to finish the transaction and as I'm adding the tip she yanks it out of my hand. And says thank you. Once she realized I was adding a tip, her whole attitude changed. I proceeded and changed it to "no tip" and left cash for the wonderful waitress who took care of us. I did notice while eating she was arguing with another woman about the food order being wrong. Maybe she had a bad day but I don't think I'll ever come back nor do I recommend anyone to go here. If she can take an extra $20 or more from everyone's bill... she's making some serious money. And she did nothing but work the cashier. She wasn't busy. She could've bust a table or serve coffee. Hubby got a meat lover scramble with hash brown with a short stack. Pancakes were fluffy. Eggs were cooked perfectly. Plenty of food for the price we paid...Too much for, in fact. There interior has lots of SF Giants memorabilia. GO GIANTS!!! They also have lots of family photos which makes it feel really cozy and just make you feel like you're home.
