Dim lights, casual vibes, friendly staff and good food. The food menu is larger than I was expecting which was nice because they had lots of different types of things to eat. I ended up being focused on the ramen section and figured I'd try something new. I got the crazy noodles which had an addictive sweet and spicy sauce with perfectly cooked chicken and noodles.

Been coming here frequently since I moved to Goodlettsville from south nash back in 2019. Has always been decent Asian fare with a focus on Japanese & Korean cuisine. One of those rare places that has seemingly gotten better with time. Pre Covid before the remodel I would've rated it a 3 due to being nothing special food wise but over the last few years it's been remodeled & the food has gotten very consistent & pleasing. Ramen is okay here but I often get a katsudon or katsu curry combo which has tons of food for the price & it is good. Service is good too. Sushi decent as well. Solid option in the area & if you need a ramen fix

We love this restaurant! We went around 7pm on a Wednesday, and were seated right away. The service is excellent and they are very attentive. I ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box and my husband got beef bulgogi bento box. When I say it's a bunch of food, trust me! There's sooooo much! Each box comes with your choice of 4 rolls, we both got the California roll, veggie and shrimp tempura, soup and salad, two crab cream cheese rolls, rice and your entree. All of the items were delicious! It was so much food, that we took all of our many entrees home. The leftovers were delicious too! The restaurant has plenty of parking, and a decent amount of tables. There is seating around the sushi bar too! We will be back!

We really enjoyed this place. The outside doesn't really give you an idea about the vibe, but the inside is darkened and nice. Tables only that I saw, and a counter. The server was very nice and attentive. The food was extremely good. We'd go back.

The service was 10/10, I had the yum yum sushi roll , very delicious! My entree was Bimimbap, my korean grandmother makes this for me and honestly no complaints, the portion was 2-3 meals in one bowl. You can never go wrong with their teriyaki steak and fried rice either:) We've always gone to the Gallatin location for their Korean Hibachi , we never knew there was one in Madison, but we will definitely be back:)

The sweetest of the sweetest people work here. I am in town for a visit and I came here for dinner. I ordered the salmon tataki and agedashi and both were so good and hit the spot. My only regret was accidentally dropping my sake cup which made the entire restaurant gasp. It was empty and I rested it on top of the sake bottle and it fell off. Sad face on that. But happy face on the food, the service, the people, and the entire restaurant for being so sweet and accommodating.

While this Sapporo location is much more convenient for me, I will go out of my way to visit the Gallatin location. The service is much faster and friendlier in Gallatin for one. The ambiance in the Madison store is, is, is, ...... just gross. This is my second visit and I just feel gross while there. It's not warm or welcoming . It's kinda dirty. I feel like I'm bothering them when I visit. The "host" will give you menus and point to a table and say "sit". Then you sit there for 15 mins until you're looking around for service. Someone will then come to the table and take your entire order. Having a drink or munching on and appetizer before ordering is not an option. The quality and taste of everything is better in Gallatin location , as well. The Crab ISO is one of my favorites and it's just been ruined for me by the Madison store.

Nice restaurant , clean friendly staff and the food was great considering we're in Tennessee. We had a yellow tail collar and 4 different sushi rolls. Kimchi roll, salmon skin roll, spicy yellow tail roll, eel cucumber roll and octopus nigiri. All ver good! So what are you waiting for? Ask for Bailey she is the bomb and knot her stuff!

I had a great time at Sapporo. It was my first time. The food was great. The menu is expansive and full of variety. I love that there was a lunch menu on Saturday, total bonus. Due to the lunch rates ($6.99 for 2 rolls with soup and salad) I ordered a lunch meal as my appetizer. I got the snapper and salmon rolls, miso soup, and salad (ginger dressing was fire)! I also had a large sake!! It was warm and awesome. For the meal I got the miso chicken ramen. Obviously this was a huge meal and I took majority home. My friends got a roll each (911 and coco rolls) theirs were awesome. They also got and loved the pork miso ramen and spicy beef miso ramen. Overall I can't wait to go again and try something else. I will definitely go again.

I ordered the miso ramen add beef. Ramen can put extra bland, over cooked (mushy noodles), and wasn't "dressed". I had to ask for toppings and was told by my server they don't usually plate the noodles like the menu picture. That was weird! The miso broth was very watered down. Honestly pretty disappointed, I could've done better at home with .50 cent pack of ramen. Not joking!!! I also had spicy crab and spicy tuna rolls. They were both good and adequate for the lunch price of $7.99 for both. Place has been remodeled since I was last here and the layout is open. They get 3 stars because I've eaten here in the past and this is a 1st so I'm hoping this was just a one time miss.

We were highly disappointed in the quality of the food and are shocked by all the positive reviews. We ordered take out and received 2 bland rolls and 2 very disappointing ramen bowls. The miso ramen had flavorless broth with noodles that were no better than a .50 cent pack from the grocery store. They tasted overcooked and mushy. My husbands spicy miso ramen had better flavor; However, both ramens came with over cooked boiled eggs and only bean sprouts. Our sushi rolls came with no wasabi or ginger on the side. The wasabi was definitely needed to provide additional flavor to the lackluster rolls. The only happy guy was our 5 year old who enjoyed the white rice. We will not eat here again or recommend to anyone who enjoys good sushi or ramen. read more

One of my fave casual sushi spots in Nashville! Restaurant is clean and beautifully decorated. All employees are super nice and attentive. We got the fried squid legs as an appetizer and it was sooo good! I got the chef special roll, it was good but it had a lot of ingredients on it. I wish it would've been more focused on one flavor than adding almost everything to it. reason I deducted a star. We also get take out from here often and the order is always rIght and ready! We did make the mistake of ordering the steamed vegetable gyoza and it was not good and was falling apart. Will stick to the steamed pork gyoza. I love any of the rolls with mango or strawberry on them! read more

I absolutely love this little sushi joint! This is where me and my husband had our first sushi date, and three years later we are still avid Sapporo visitors. We love love love the service there, and we've gone so many times we're greeted like family. At this point, I'm sure we've tried everything on their sushi menu, and my husband always finishes off with some Saki. We are always excited for our next visit, see you guys soon! read more

What a great place. By far the best seaweed salad ever! They place it on a bed of sliced cucumbers with a light semi sweet vinaigrette. Delish! Sushi was fresh and a great varied menu. Would highly recommend this place! I will be back. read more

Generally, most folks claim they know "the best" sushi restaurant, which isn't all that helpful since different folks have tastes unique to them and their taste buds. Here's the deal with Sapporo: it's priced well, the fish tastes fresh, the "veggie roll" here has the nicest combination of textures and flavors of any I've tasted in the greater Nashville area. The house sake is delicious, the menu is widely varied and offers something for most everyone. I recommend that you make sure you are in no hurry when eating here, as the wait can be almost painful if you're hungry. They expanded the place with more tables and booths, but added zero staff! That one server is hopefully making a mint for the work they're doing now. Overall, the wait is worth it. It's a top contender for me (a CA local turned TN resident). We're sort of known for being "sushi snobs", in the most loving way, I'm sure. Ha! read more

Started out being our 'go to' shushi place and being recent transplants we were excited to find it - we have dined here almost a dozen times, but it is slipping badly - we've had terrible service on one lunch occasion and 'questionable' food on another dinner occasion. Not sure we'll return. We had such high hopes, and hope they turn it around, but as of now - two stars is almost too generous. read more

Very nice waiter the night I visited. I feel like we waited five minutes or so and our food was ready, which was impressive. I ordered the crab bridge roll and was disappointed. Sushi does not necessarily roll off ones tongue when you speak of Nashville's restaurant scene. However in this case, you can disregard the past misconceptions and take the plunge for a delightful experience. I have eaten at some of the best sushi restaurants in NYC, Boston, San Francisco, Philly, and D.C. and I ca humbly say with confidence that this is the best sushi restaurant in the Greater Nashville area. I'm not from the area, but my boyfriend is and whenever I come to visit we make sure to come to Sapporo as much as possible while in Tennessee! We get the Chef's special every time and we're NEVER disappointed, honestly we're blown away by flavor every roll we eat! At first I was hesitant trusting the chef completely with a surprise roll, but now no other sushi places compare after eating their creative and flavorful dishes. The staff is so nice and makes an effort to get to know their customers. This place is the best, 1000/10 recommend to everyone debating on whether to eat here. read more

What a deal! 3 rolls of sushi for $9.99 as a lunch special? Sure, why not? Is it the best sushi in Nashville? Nah. Is it pretty good? Sure. I also really appreciate the menus and table-top rolodex of sushi descriptions with vivid pictures and descriptions to help you understand exactly what you're ordering! Plus as a vegan, they had a significant amount of "interesting" options for me. Note how I specified "interesting" as many sushi joints just offer the basics like an avocado roll or cucumber roll while Sapporo had many options including the "Shrek" roll that I ordered. I sat at the sushi bar and watched them quickly produce my roll. The entire staff was super friendly and were efficient through my entire meal. The Shrek was tasty albeit not the best presentation that I have seen. Either way, it was filling and I was happy about my selection! There are also a plethora of other items that you can order including noodles, rice, tempura, and other entrees that looked very appealing. I plan to come back although the location isn't very conducive for me. Overall, I would rate Sapporo 3.5 stars! read more

I am so glad I found this place! We recently moved to Hendersonville and my first worry was that they wouldn't have good Asian food. I'm glad we found this place! I've been here a few times and all their food has been great so far. Sometimes, I don't like Asian restaurants that serve different kinds of cuisine because other dishes aren't done well. This restaurant serves Japanese and Korean food. They haven't disappointed me. My fiancé always orders katsu don and he loves it. The last two things I've ordered were ramen and udon. Their ramen serving is so big! make sure to share it. I've also seen so many people I know eat at this place so I know it's good! They all say that this is their favorite and they are regulars. First: our waiter was so kind. he was conversing and he was especially nice to my niece, he made little training chopsticks for her, gave her a tofu soup, and overall was genuinely so nice. Second: the food. the food was absolutely delicious. i got a chicken udon and the presentation was quite nice as well. the noodles were thick and the chicken was nicely seasoned. Third: how it looked. the entire restaurant was extremely clean and there wasn't a spot anywhere that didn't look like it hadn't been cleaned that morning. even the bathrooms were spotless. the only thing that i wouldn't recommend is definitely the cold green tea, it really just tastes like was extremely watered down. read more

Our favorite Japanese spot! I always order the Bibimbap and my husband gets the Chicken Katsu. The Bibimbap is fresh and so flavorful. We brought our out of town family here and they had the shrimp teriyaki and the Dinner bento box. Holy portions! All entrees could be split between two people. Sapporo is reasonably priced and has awesome service. We love this place and would recommend it to anyone. read more

Well this place was a nice surprise! Very authentic and a vast array of choices on the menu! The sashimi tuna was fresh and the cucumber roll was amazing and done the right way. Most sushi chefs don't know how to make it tight to wear it doesn't fall apart but they def. do. I look forward to coming back and trying more of a variety of things. read more

Amazing service.... amazing food! I can't believe the quality. I'm an avid sushi eater and I'm very impressed. This hit the spot and was just what I needed. They were polite over the phone and brought the order out to my car. They even asked what car I was in when taking my order. Everyone I saw going inside was following Covid protocols and so was the staff. I'm beyond pleased. read more

Amazing! My boyfriend and I had just got done from the Opryland Lights for their Christmas season and we were crazy Japanese food. This place was only a 10-15 min drive and let me tell you I'm so glad we came here. My boyfriend got the Udon and i got the salmon bento! Prices are super super reasonable. Food is fresh and so good. You can tell they put some love in their food! The service was so excellent. Since it was our first time we did have a lot of questions and the waitress was so kind and patient. If you are in the area I highly recommend to try this place at least once in your life! Sadly, We were so hungry I didn't even get a chance to take any photos of the food and by the time i realized i should've taken pics, the whole thing was gone. read more

I ordered their food through Postmates. I got the Chicken Katsu because I have loved it everywhere I have gone. I grew up eating it. This was not chicken katsu. I asked for extra katsu sauce, I got zero. They covered the chicken with a weird egg and veg mix. The egg wasn't done all the way so the whites stuck all over the chicken. I gave it a try just to see and the chicken was terrible, the fry oil was def old. Then the side salad was 4 pieces of lettuce and that's it. Maybe they are good for other things but def not for this. read more

He explained the menu as a mash-up of the top five dishes from each of the Maru locations, a regional restaurant group led by a woman entrepreneur. I started with a Sapporo on draft and got carded, which made me smile. With the cold crisp beer in hand, I ordered from the regular and specials menus (after learning uni has sold out): Baja fresh maki (spicy tuna, green onion, cilantro, jalapeno, avocado, yellowtail) with ponzu 1 order (2 pieces) of ora king salmon nigiri 1 order (2 pieces) of otoro (fatty tuna belly) 1 negitoro temaki 1 spicy scallop temaki From the original order, the spicy scallop temaki and baja fresh roll came out first. The accompaniments included real wasabi, which was not listed on the menu, so that part was not my favorite, However, the scallop was fresh and flavorful. The baja fresh roll was so decicious, and I ate it all before the next food was ready! When the nigiri platter arrived, I learned the otoro was also unavailable so it was substituted with chutoro (medium fatty tuna). This was still beautiful and fresh, and I appreciated the honesty. I was only charged for regular maguro and not the price of the special. The chutoro was seasoned by the chef and very flavorful. The ora king salmon was delicious too, but I did need a tiny bit of soy sauce on it to counterbalance the wasabi. The negitoro temaki was absolutely oishi! It led me to order one more temaki, the spicy yellowtail, and I requested no fresh wasabi since it was listed as an ingredient on the menu. I enjoyed this last bite while chatting with Rahul and learning more about him. He then surprised me with some strawberry and pineapple mochi for my birthday week! Overall, I enjoyed the atmosphere, the great service, and the high quality food. There is a huge menu so it would be fun to come back with more people. Itadakimasu!
