I love that this place is queer friendly. I drive past it but had never stopped by. It is very spacious inside and has parking in the front and back. I went here with a couple of friends. l and didn't feel like I was struggling to talk over other conversations. So it's a a good casual meeting space. I got the seasonal coffee and didn't enjoy it. I ended up adding some simple syrup to try and cover the flavor. My friend got the chai and it was very watery and milky. I got a little bit more tea added after she drank some down but it wasn't very concentrated. read more

Madtown Coffee is becoming one of my favorite places on our side of the city! While it is not in the most savory part of Madison, the location seems to add to the character and vibe of the whole place! I love me a good local coffee shop with friendly folks, comfy seating, stellar vibes...and then you add being fully accepting of folks, and you got me for good! Madtown is all of those things plus some. I usually pop by early on weekend mornings to enjoy a cold brew and breakfast wrap while people watching, which gets really good here! The drink menu has a lot of classic coffee drinks plus a few specialty and/or fruit forward blended drinks, but again, most of their focus and expertise is around coffee, even offering pour over! Food menu is solid with a few breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches along with a variety of pastries and baked goods. Overall, Madtown Coffee is a cool spot that I am very happy has a place in the neighborhood. This is one of those places where you can not judge a book by the cover...or immediate area! read more

It was nice just wouldn't go out of my way to return. I had a roast beef and cheddar sandwich it was good but for the price would expect more roast beef. Service was fine - polite. I was the only one waiting for food and when it came out, I barely heard my name and it would have been very simple either say it louder or bring it to me as I was sitting next to the counter and they weren't busy. The coffee is good! I really enjoy my vanilla and raspberry iced latte, the maple latte is VERY strong with hardly any maple or sweetness but the coffee is still a good flavor and not too bitter or acidic. The pastries leave a bit to be desired, they're 90% puff pastry with hardly any filling, the chocolate croissant isn't really a croissant. The flavors aren't bad, and the texture is great, they're just really lacking. Also we ordered delivery and the drinks didn't come with ice? This wasn't specified anywhere and we didn't request it, it prevents the drinks from getting watered down but if we didn't have access to our own ice I would've been super disappointed, so I just wish this was atleast advertised upfront. it wasn't a bad experience but we'll definitely be trying out other places in the area before returning. read more

We went to MADtown coffee specifically because of their flags. We knew it would be a kind and welcoming place where we would be comfortable. We were absolutely correct. Not only that, their coffee is very, very good. Their pastries are yummy. Went back again this past Sunday and I had the lavender tea. It was smooth and tasty. These people understand the art of making and steeping tea. We do not live close but take our dog for training in Madison. This will be our place for the next several months. read more

Met up for some coffee and pastries in anticipation of a snow storm. This place was cozy and warm. Only complaint is the use of paper cups when dining in, when it wouldn't hurt to serve a hot beverage in a ceramic mug. My pastry was warmed up but a little cold in the middle. Service was good though. Music was playing and allowed for a chill atmosphere. Art posted on the wall was pretty cool. Two were of Jeffery Epstein, it's fair to offer a trigger alert if you're like me. I understand that art is being sold but it's a fair review of the place that it was slightly deterring over coffee. Only Go If You Are "Normal" Madtown Coffee has its good qualities. The food is average, the atmosphere is adequate, and the prices are on the high end of fair. That said, I can't give them a good rating. With a few exceptions, the staff has been consistently rude to me for the year and a half that I have visited. I have a neurological condition that causes motor tics. I also have some psychiatric conditions that cause some odd behavior. I'm often stuck in my head. I know I'm odd. I might be as bizarre as they come, but I am not in any way disruptive. In Madtown's defense, they are no ruder to me than the employees at Walgreen's across the street, but that's not the point. A locally-owned coffee shop like Madtown should be a place where the misfits of the world can go to be accepted. After all, they tout accepting members of the LGBTQ+ communities, vegans, and likely many other categories, such as different races and religions. And yes, they absolutely should! Unfortunately, I feel unwelcome at Madtown Coffee and will not be going back unless I am invited to go by someone else. I don't expect to be accepted everywhere, but I would have expected to be accepted there. Please bear in mind, anyone could have a mental or physical disability. It didn't have to be me. It could have been them, or their siblings, their kids, or anyone else they care about. It could also have been you. It's too bad. I love coffee shops, and I would have loved to go to Madtown on a more regular basis. Unfortunately, I am extremely disappointed in the staff's behavior toward me. I hope their managers will reflect on the way they train their folks to treat people. If people like me are not welcome there, I wish they had been less subtle in letting me know. I'm glad to see coffee shops expanding up to the Madison neighborhood. It's nice to have options outside of East Nashville and is also a great little spot if you need some quiet to get some stuff done or just sit and have a drink. There's parking in front and in the back as well so don't get turned away if you don't see spots in front of the coffee shop. There's a back entrance as well. They also bake their pastries in-house so stop in to try those as well. Love the scrabble tile menu as well. Stop in for a drink and support another local coffee shop. read more

I needed a good start to my day, so I popped in this shop with my dog and my significant other. I went to the counter to view the menu. I ended up getting an 8oz drip coffee and an 8oz mocha. I sat on a couch towards the corner of the shop. I'd say this place gave off a relaxing vibe. The drip coffee was ready rather quickly. I tried it out how it was served, but I didn't care for it too much like that. I put Sugar, Whole Milk, and Cinnamon in it. Those items gave the coffee a smooth flavor. It was a lot easier to drink it this way. The mocha came out soon after the coffee. I didn't add anything to this one and I'm glad I didn't. It was good just the way it was served to me. The service was prompt and friendly. I didn't have any issues in that field. Overall, this shop was a good stop to start my day off right! I won't hesitate to stop in again in the future. My housemates and I live right down the road from this place. I have lived in Nashville since elementary school and can't stress how this is a hidden gem in the area. Our two regular sandwiches are the goat and the chairman. There are plenty of other great sandwiches and baked goods however so check out the seasonal menu too! As a barista this coffee is legit! I got an oat milk latte and my fiancé got a cortado. Both were very good. The customer service was also phenomenal considering we showed up as soon as the doors opened. If you are in need of some good local coffee definitely try this place!! read more

The place is in a pretty sketch area. Inside seems pleasant enough, just like your average coffee shop. Customer service was pretty lousy. Honestly, both barista's didn't seem overly friendly, but could well have been end of the day type of attitude. As for the coffee and the reason why anyone would even visit this establishment, it wasn't bad, certainly wasn't great, but I would drink it again in a pinch. I just got home from my first visit to Madtown Coffee in Madison (next door to the library.) I ordered my food and drink and then ate my avocado toast while waiting for my latte to cool. Got out to the car and went to put my drink in the cup holder and somehow knocked off the lid and spilled it, and I literally poured the whole thing into the cupholder and the adjacent seat. It happened so fast all I could do was laugh and curse. It was everywhere. I dashed inside and told the barista "I just spilled my drink into my cup holder. Do you have anything more than paper napkins that I can use? Like a bar towel? I promise I'll bring it back (as if petty theft was anyone's concern.) Dude handed me a very nice microfiber towel and I ran back out to the car. Cleaned as well as I could, rung out the towel twice, and returned it to the guy. He insisted on making me another latte even though it was my own dumb mistake that I dumped the first one. So please go visit Madtown Coffee soon.
