The place is so cute and cozy with a big ole porch and friendly waitstaff that you gotta like it. The food was good with a wide variety of dishes. I wanted to try their breakfast sando with pineapple banana jam, but I chickened out and got the biscuits and gravy. They were average, nothing to write home about, but filling and fresh. We were looking around for a good sit in breakfast that can accommodate my toddler. She's a handful! They have indoor and outdoor seating, it was perfect for us. They also have a high chair for her. We really enjoyed our food. We like how their omelette is not one of those pre-picked ingredients and I was able to choose what meat and veggies I want in it. My toddler finished her casserole and did not leave a lick of it. She finished her whole bowl! That's how great it was. The coffee is mid, I've had better in Nashville. While visiting the area, we decided to check out some local cuisine. As usual, Yelp helped us make our decision. Located on a hill, in a mixed use area, the cafe is easy to drive past. The driveway comes up fast and parking is on a sloped parking lot. From outside, it looks every bit of a single family house. Which matches the inside of cafe. You feel like you are having breakfast at your neighbors. There was plenty of variety on the coffee/latte menu. This carried over to the breakfast menu that offered wraps, biscuits/gravy and omelettes. They also have a case at the counter showcasing other pies and pastries. You order at the counter and pick up at the counter. They do not appear to have a big staff. Those we encountered were friendly. After a lengthy wait, we were summoned to pick up our food. Everyone in my group expressed satisfaction with their respective orders. My buddy talked about his biscuits and gravy for several days. Two in our group enjoyed avocado toast with their drinks. My omelette (I picked spinach, bacon and onion) was tasty and filled me up. The biscuit was delicious. Try some of the jam and jelly from the counter with it. This cafe was the best surprise to find near Skyline hospital.. Met a coworker for a late breakfast after leaving hospital.. tried the seasonal/specialty coffee s'mores latte hot and it was soo good... also got a breakfast sandwich on sourdough with added avocado and it was soo good.. We showed up with high hopes after reading all the glowing reviews. Unfortunately, reality did not get the memo. The place was quiet, yet it still took a minute for anyone to notice we existed. My husband ordered the biscuit sandwich - great flavor, but the biscuit crumbled like it was giving up on life. I ordered the blueberry waffle, which I can only describe as a "build-your-own blueberry waffle" since the blueberries were simply... placed on top. Randomly went here for lunch and SO glad I did! While I'd heard good things about their pimento cheese burger, I opted for the banana, pb, + bacon sandwich. As the guy working said, it was messy but worth it! I cut it into pieces or I'd have gotten it everywhere! I also ordered a strawberry Italian soda and it was incredible. The food all came our at the same time, but the hash brown casserole was cold. All the food should be warm to hot when it is served, I feel. My Bee Hive iced latte was pretty food and I liked that the table had salt and pepper available, but there was no ketchup. And when she found some, it was cold from being in the fridge. Most disappointing thing however was the lemon bar. Now I love lemon everything. But unfortunately, the lemon flavor wasn't just too subtle, it was nonexistent. If I could give Sidekicks Cafe more than 5 stars I would! I've only been twice so far even though I've lived in the neighborhood for over 5 years (such a shame), but I knew from my first time there it would become a place I will frequent. The vibes are amazing - quiet, calm and caring. It really does feel like a home. The food and drinks are great (the Cinnabon latte is a new fav) and the service is far better than any 'high end' cafe you'd find in the city. Cathy and Trisha are such kind, hardworking souls. Constantly making rounds and making sure everyone is okay, even taking plates and trash before you get the chance to. I stayed after business hours on the deck reading because time just got away from me and was assured I could stay and remain comfortable even after they were bringing the decor inside and locking up. These folks go above and beyond in every way and have definitely made a forever customer out of me. Hidden Gem...is the absolute perfect descriptor for SideKicks Cafe! Located just a block off of busy Due West, hidden in plain sight, sits SideKicks Cafe on Graycroft Avenue. It is the type of place that is uniquely local and that seems like it has been around for years, even generations...however they only opened in 2016, but in these 7 years they have made a name for themselves in the Madison community and have built a solid following of loyal patrons! I have only been on this end of town for about 4 months and thanks to Yelp, I ended up here one Saturday morning and immediately knew I had found my spot for all things breakfast, coffee and pastry! The set up of SideKicks is you walk in where you can scope the printed menu and the wall menu, and peep the goods in the case, and once you have landed on something you order and then seat yourself. They give you a buzzer and in just a few moments you will go from hungry to happy. My first visit in I decided to have the Biscuits and Gravy with a side of Hashbrown Casserole and a sweet tea. I consider myself a biscuit and gravy connoisseur, especially being from GA where I practically had them every morning. With that being said, SideKicks does not play when it comes to this dish! This was easily the largest plate of BG I have ever been served and it was topped with massive chunks of sausage and heaps of white pepper gravy. To break that down a little further it was comprised of two full fluffy biscuits split open, easily 2 cups of gravy and at least 4 broken up sausage patties. It was massive in appearance and in taste...they had me hooked from first bite! The hash browns were delightful and apparently award winning, which makes total sense. Once I wrapped my meal, I was tasked with bringing the partner something home so I ordered another round of hashbrown casserole and the Pine-Gouda Ham Biscuit, which is a ham and Gouda biscuit with a nice pineapple jam. While pineapple jam isn't my thing, my partner absolutely loved it and has told everyone who will listen about it since that morning! And lastly, for my ride home I ended up getting an Iced Mocha Shake-Up...and as you would expect, delicious! Overall, absolutely love SideKicks Cafe! Since I was in Nashville, I decided to eat things for lunch that I would never eat, or maybe even have access to, at a place in St. Louis: housemade pimento cheese and pink stuff. Yep. I got a pimento cheese and bacon sandwich on toasted sourdough, and it was pretty darned good! The bacon was super crunchy next to the creamy pimento cheese, the lettuce on top was fresh and crisp, there was also a tomato on it, and it all made my mouth very happy. I still can't get over how very crunchy, but not burnt, the bacon was! It made the sandwich. Sadly, after I placed my order online, I got a call saying that they were out of pink stuff. How can you be out of pink stuff? What is pink stuff? I guess I will never know!! Ha ha, I actually do know what it is. I substituted a fresh made cherry turnover instead, which I ended up being very happy with. The pastry was soft, moist and flaky, and it was filled with real cherry filling, not that bright red gooey stuff you sometimes find such things. Local hidden gem!! We went to breakfast on a Saturday morning- don't let the line scare you. It moves fast. Hand held menus or a big board will help you decide. Visiting from south Florida and stumbled on to this awesome place. A house converted to a restaurant. Which says a lot about the quality of the food and service here. Everything is made from fresh ingredients and by hand. The service is top notch. We were greeted by Karen and she made us feel welcomed and comfortable. We were able to sit in the dining area which was quite and cozy. It is well decorated with cool Nashville music and some sports memorabilia. The staff and owner were so nice that they offered a goody bag for our trip home. So great full for the kindness they extended to us. We will definitely visit sidekicks again. Cool little coffee/breakfast (and lunch) house was the perfect start to a day planned out exploring Mammoth Cave National Park. The outside, as far as I'm concerned, is warm and inviting. When we went inside the employee behind the counter was really friendly and knowledgeable about the menu items. She answered our questions and we were off to the races..... for my wife, a coffee and Breakfast Burrito Combo (egg, peppers, onions, tomato, cheese with hash brown casserole - $7.95). For me it was a blackberry steamer and a Melted Pimento Cheese & Bacon Biscuit. She thought hers fell into a three star range (food) and the coffee was really good (4 star). For me, the biscuit was dry and tended to want to crumble quite a bit but it was full of flavor. Bacon well done, and pimento cheese .... um pimentoey and cheesy .... well really good! I'd give the biscuit 4 stars and the steamer 4 stars. Side note, hash brown casserole, in my opinion, better than what you get from Cracker Barrel. After they donated a basket to our school's fundraiser, I had to pay them a visit for lunch after a school event. The set up is pretty cozy--an older home converted into a cafe with an amazing outdoor covered porch area. We were greeted promptly when we walked in. They took our order at the counter and gave us a "buzzer" to let us know when it would be ready to pick up. Everything went pretty smoothly until I ordered a latte and never got it. NOW, I also didn't check for it until after we were completely done eating. So I will take some ownership in that--it's very likely that it was sitting there and someone else picked it up. But once they realized I hadn't gotten my drink, they quickly made me another one fresh! My wife's best friend flew in to visit so I was looking for a breakfast spot that would have diner food with high quality and wasn't a chain restaurant. Sidekick Cafe hit the mark perfectly. I had the country ham with my breakfast plate and it was exactly what I was hoping it would be. The hash brown casserole was good, not the best I've had but good. The biscuits were light, and the gravy had chunks of sausage in it. They have several coffee options which was nice. Not sure why this place has good reviews. I hope they read these reviews and make changes. First of all very friendly place. The biscuits and gravy were good, but the rest of the food, that we tasted was not so good. The fried eggs and sausage patties were cold. The breakfast burrito was terrible very mushy, they may want to add a fried hashbrowns and shredded cheese and get rid of the pickled peppers and onions. Ok now for the business set up, you enter through the main door and cross over the whole counter to order food and pay, you get a pager when food is ready. Now in this same area (traffic jam) is where you get your own drinks, and put dirty dishes after you eat and clean off your own area. So not sure why when you pay you tip 15 -18-or 20%, because you are doing everything but cooking food. They should have a dirty dish drop bin in every room for convenience for customers. The girl who hands out food, does only that, maybe she can pick up bins and wipe off tables too? The order area should be by main entrance door and pickup food other end. You can try it and may have better luck, but we will not go back. read more

I thought we had found a breakfast place. We've gone here a couple of times and really liked it. It's been a few months but went back with a friend today and after ordering 2 $12 waffles we both received a small package of syrup. It was tiny enough that it did not even cover half the waffle. My friend went to the counter to get more syrup. The lady at the counter said no, it was not possible to get more syrup. We were taken aback, but then asked if we could purchase more syrup. And again the answer was no, that is not possible. Didn't even know how to reply to this. Are you kidding me? Do we have a national syrup shortage I am unaware of?? Half the waffle ended up being dry - and this completely ruined the experience. I spent about $50 for breakfast for the 2 of us with tip - but apparently the margins here can not support a second packet of syrup. And the great syrup shortage of 2023 would not allow for additional syrup to be purchased. I am still shaking my head at the terrible service this morning. Needless to say - this is no longer our breakfast place of choice, and we will not be back. I wish I could give negative stars. read more
