I've eaten here twice lately (10/1/22) and both have been ok, nothing special. I had the salmon/lox panini and cheese which was good and grilled chicken/artichokes panini. The chicken was chewy/rubbery and there were very few artichokes and couldn't taste them/not flavorful. The cream cheese spread and bread were good though. I stopped by Panini Bread Cafe for a sandwich today since I hadn't packed a lunch for work. Their menu is simple - mostly, you guessed it, panini. I got the tuna melt and a side pasta salad from the fridge. The tuna melt was average - not the worst I've ever had but certainly on the drier side and not very memorable. The pasta salad was okay - not super fresh, because some of the rotini pasta had dried out at the ends. The service was fine; I wouldn't say anyone was particularly friendly, but they were fast! This wasn't a meal I'm craving to repeat anytime soon, but I work very close to the cafe, so I'm sure I'll be back sometime soon when I forget to bring a lunch to work! read more

We were looking for something local, not a chain restaurant, in the vicinity of our new townhome in Hermitage. As we were driving we spotted what at first we thought was Panera, but saw it it said Panini, in a smaller strip mall off of Stewart's Ferry Pike. We pulled in, and were glad we did. My wife had the Chicken Salad, and I had the Buffalo Chicken Panini. They were both delicious. Freshly made and toasted, the gentleman used fresh ingredients to make some of the best paninis I've had in a long time. We had the option of 4 bread types, (white, wheat, tomato and spinach). I had the tomato on the buffalo and my wife had spinach on hers. Great choices though I think any of the four would have been good. We wish we had time to order the fresh made bread loaves. The fresh deserts looked good, too. Prices were very reasonable, ($7.25/panini) and a small bag of chips were part of the deal. We will be coming back! read more

Uhm, yesssss.... just yessss!! Had their grilled chicken wrap w/cranberries and pecans-I was blown away. They grilled my wrap...I love that :) I decided to try their potato and pasta salads while I was waiting. They are a little slow because everything is freshly made. The potato salad tasted like potatoes! I didn't taste relish or onions. It just tasted like a plain, delish potato salad with a wonderful array of flavors that were so subtle but perfect. The pasta salad was the way I like my salad---oily, garlicy, with a hint of red pepper for a kick! AMAZING! I recommend. The place was empty for lunch which tells me it won't be open long! The food is so good -- fresh, good ingredients, generous, and a great menu of panini's and salads. My favorite is the Greek Salad. Yes, the humble Greek Salad is the best I've had in Nashville! Try it with the owner's homemade bread of any type (I can't stop ordering the cranberry walnut). We've tried 3-4 panini's and they're all creative and mouth-watering. Save room for dessert! The owner-dad makes incredible desserts -- and not the standard American fare, but really different cakes. They have a loyalty card. They've been very welcoming when I work there in the restaurant when i need a break from my home office. The coffee (Americano) is definitely genuine and made-to-order. There is a review critical of the decor and vibe, but I say there's something pleasing for everyone here. Sometimes they have live music in the evening. I will not go back here. I've eaten there about 5 times and it has gone from mediocre to terrible. Read good reviews about the chicken salad, but it was gross. The texture was as if it was made in a blender, and overall it was bland and flavorless. And, of course, there were little chunks of inedible stuff in it. But the bread it came on was good so I went back. Big mistake. The Reuben was alien meat and tasted like the bread was microwaved. The deserts are bad. Like day old Kroger pastries. The chocolate cake was the worst -- nothing but frosting. The delivery menu is set up so that it's really hard to hit the delivery minimum, without going way over. Which just seems kind of "scammy." And every time I order form there they leave something out or get something wrong. And when I mention to them that the order is wrong, they get a negative attitude. The last time I tried to order takeout, I was already hesitant to give them another shot. But I was stuck at the house, and really just wanted a simple sandwich. After 30 minutes they finally emailed and said they were too busy to complete my order. Never again. read more

I've been here twice. Once I just popped in to look at cake, while I was waiting for a friend to go to a crummy sushi place next door. I came back with friends and we all agrees the food was fantastic! It's a family run business and they are very accommodating and patient. They explained each cake to us, and didn't fuss at all when asked to make substitutions. Sandwiches come with chips or fruit in season. November is not the season for fruit, but I saw that they had banana's for smoothies and asked for one. I got it. We split 4 kinds of cake that day and I honestly can't pick a favorite. The Eastern edge of Nashville was in desperate need of a good coffee place, and this place does a good job. They use good Bongo Java coffee, are friendly and courteous, are very prompt, and like to make good coffee. They are generous and ready to make their customers happy, and it's generally a pleasant place to sit. I have one problem, and it's a major one, though. They have two restrooms, one is clearly designated for Women, and the other is generic. As a man, this is unacceptable. If it were the other way around, the TV channels would have been called in, commentaries would be written, the owner would be condemned for his misogyny, and the store would have been shamed into created a specific women's room. The fact that the gender-bias goes the other way, it's ignored. If this issue is resolved, I will immediately drop this complaint, and this will be bumped up to at least four stars, since it's otherwise a very good place to go. read more

Sounds of nature in the background while you're eating a reuben? Doesn't mesh. So the woman behind the counter acted as if we were an inconvenience. I ordered a reuben. Weirdest reuben I've ever been served. Corned beef tasted / looked like bologna, hardly any kraut or dressing and i couldn't even tell if there was cheese on it. I think i saw some. Plus it was COLD. Bread was ok though. My boyfriend got a meatball sandwich. Tons of mozzarella which is great but the meatballs were obviously frozen from food lion. You get a bag of basic lays chips with your combo. My girlfriend and I stop by the Hip Donelson Farmer's Market some weeks, where we always stop by Panini Bread Cafe's stand to get banana bread and other goodies. The man who is there every week is super friendly and nice, and always remembers us. We were hoping for a similar experience in the cafe. We went Saturday afternoon hoping for a midday snack and some coffee. Even though they were out of sliced banana bread (my girlfriend's favorite), we decided to try something else. The woman behind the counter was not outright rude, but she certainly wasn't friendly. We ordered a cheesecake brownie, and I got a latte. I specifically said "12 oz latte with lots of milk" when I ordered. I was charged for a 16 oz, but didn't worry about it. When the drink was ready, another customer had to tell me it was on the counter; she did not announce it or anything. The drink, however, was iced. I explained that I had just ordered a latte, not an iced latte. It's hot out, so I understand the mistake, but she seemed annoyed that I even said anything. She remade my drink, a 12 oz latte, but it was so hot that there was visible steam (like boiling water) for the entire 30 minutes we were in the restaurant. I ultimately couldn't drink my $4 small latte because it took so long to cool off. The brownie was okay--the banana bread is better--but the service made me not want to come back. read more

Quaint little sandwich shop tucked away. Everything is homemade and so far been delicious. The first time I went I ordered the spinach artichoke chicken panini ... I expected pre-prepared chicken with spinach artichoke dip on it ... soooo far from what I got! Hand cut chicken pieces (not mushy) with artichoke hearts, FRESH spinach, parmesan cheese with a light sauce served warm on homemade bread. Oh Meh Gurd! I was in heaven! It was so much better than I had anticipated. Came with a bag of chips and a bottle of soda. Very reasonably priced too. The atmosphere is quiet and quaint. Small shop, nicely decorated. Twice I've ordered from this restaurant. The first time I placed an order and then received a call saying they wouldn't deliver so my order was cancelled. The second time it took over an hour and multiple phone calls to get my order. I asked if sausage could be placed in my omelette, apparently not. The omelette had a weird consistency. The "sausage" that was supposed to be served with the omelette plate was actually bacon. The food was super cold, but that's to be expected when it's late.
