Dim lights, casual vibes, friendly staff and good food. The food menu is larger than I was expecting which was nice because they had lots of different types of things to eat. I ended up being focused on the ramen section and figured I'd try something new. I got the crazy noodles which had an addictive sweet and spicy sauce with perfectly cooked chicken and noodles.

Been coming here frequently since I moved to Goodlettsville from south nash back in 2019. Has always been decent Asian fare with a focus on Japanese & Korean cuisine. One of those rare places that has seemingly gotten better with time. Pre Covid before the remodel I would've rated it a 3 due to being nothing special food wise but over the last few years it's been remodeled & the food has gotten very consistent & pleasing. Ramen is okay here but I often get a katsudon or katsu curry combo which has tons of food for the price & it is good. Service is good too. Sushi decent as well. Solid option in the area & if you need a ramen fix

We love this restaurant! We went around 7pm on a Wednesday, and were seated right away. The service is excellent and they are very attentive. I ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box and my husband got beef bulgogi bento box. When I say it's a bunch of food, trust me! There's sooooo much! Each box comes with your choice of 4 rolls, we both got the California roll, veggie and shrimp tempura, soup and salad, two crab cream cheese rolls, rice and your entree. All of the items were delicious! It was so much food, that we took all of our many entrees home. The leftovers were delicious too! The restaurant has plenty of parking, and a decent amount of tables. There is seating around the sushi bar too! We will be back!

We really enjoyed this place. The outside doesn't really give you an idea about the vibe, but the inside is darkened and nice. Tables only that I saw, and a counter. The server was very nice and attentive. The food was extremely good. We'd go back.

The service was 10/10, I had the yum yum sushi roll , very delicious! My entree was Bimimbap, my korean grandmother makes this for me and honestly no complaints, the portion was 2-3 meals in one bowl. You can never go wrong with their teriyaki steak and fried rice either:) We've always gone to the Gallatin location for their Korean Hibachi , we never knew there was one in Madison, but we will definitely be back:)

The sweetest of the sweetest people work here. I am in town for a visit and I came here for dinner. I ordered the salmon tataki and agedashi and both were so good and hit the spot. My only regret was accidentally dropping my sake cup which made the entire restaurant gasp. It was empty and I rested it on top of the sake bottle and it fell off. Sad face on that. But happy face on the food, the service, the people, and the entire restaurant for being so sweet and accommodating.

While this Sapporo location is much more convenient for me, I will go out of my way to visit the Gallatin location. The service is much faster and friendlier in Gallatin for one. The ambiance in the Madison store is, is, is, ...... just gross. This is my second visit and I just feel gross while there. It's not warm or welcoming . It's kinda dirty. I feel like I'm bothering them when I visit. The "host" will give you menus and point to a table and say "sit". Then you sit there for 15 mins until you're looking around for service. Someone will then come to the table and take your entire order. Having a drink or munching on and appetizer before ordering is not an option. The quality and taste of everything is better in Gallatin location , as well. The Crab ISO is one of my favorites and it's just been ruined for me by the Madison store.

Nice restaurant , clean friendly staff and the food was great considering we're in Tennessee. We had a yellow tail collar and 4 different sushi rolls. Kimchi roll, salmon skin roll, spicy yellow tail roll, eel cucumber roll and octopus nigiri. All ver good! So what are you waiting for? Ask for Bailey she is the bomb and knot her stuff!

I had a great time at Sapporo. It was my first time. The food was great. The menu is expansive and full of variety. I love that there was a lunch menu on Saturday, total bonus. Due to the lunch rates ($6.99 for 2 rolls with soup and salad) I ordered a lunch meal as my appetizer. I got the snapper and salmon rolls, miso soup, and salad (ginger dressing was fire)! I also had a large sake!! It was warm and awesome. For the meal I got the miso chicken ramen. Obviously this was a huge meal and I took majority home. My friends got a roll each (911 and coco rolls) theirs were awesome. They also got and loved the pork miso ramen and spicy beef miso ramen. Overall I can't wait to go again and try something else. I will definitely go again.

I ordered the miso ramen add beef. Ramen can put extra bland, over cooked (mushy noodles), and wasn't "dressed". I had to ask for toppings and was told by my server they don't usually plate the noodles like the menu picture. That was weird! The miso broth was very watered down. Honestly pretty disappointed, I could've done better at home with .50 cent pack of ramen. Not joking!!! I also had spicy crab and spicy tuna rolls. They were both good and adequate for the lunch price of $7.99 for both. Place has been remodeled since I was last here and the layout is open. They get 3 stars because I've eaten here in the past and this is a 1st so I'm hoping this was just a one time miss.

Been coming here for 10 years - always called Sapporo but has had change of owners, stopped by last week after a 2 year break, it was really great, very inspiring menu with a wide range of items and all reasonably priced. Friendly service and nice decor. if this place was closer to East Nashers we would go all the time, easily as good as Ichiban but cheaper. read more

For Madison, TN this is a great place. The lunch specials are 6.99 for 2 rolls or 9.99 for 3 Rolls. They give you a list of about 18 rolls to chose from. Most of the rolls on the Lunch special menu are basic ones but still good! Dinner is great too. The Chef Special roll is awesome. The normal everyday rolls like the spicy tuna, eel, and rainbows are great! The Volcano Roll was another one of my favorites. You won't be disappointed I promise. read more

This USED to be one of my favorite places to eat in the Rivergate area. Had a "Bento Box" for lunch that cost about eight dollars with some great variety. The tempura shrimp and veggies were very good. Moved out of the area for awhile and when I came back, the Bento was $14.00. I am no longer interested in Sapporo. Many restaurants are only spending around 15% on food costs anymore. This is not a negative on the quality of the food, just the prices. read more

Was very pleased at picking this spot for lunch one day. Was getting my car worked on at Pep Boys and had some time to kill, so i decided to check it out. They have an extensive menu on maki rolls and a reasonable price for lunch specials. The staff was friendly and the food was excellent. read more

Authentic Japanese food !!! They also have a mix menu of Korean, Japanese & Chinese foods. The Sushi Is always fresh! Rice never taste stale or watery! Everyone is very friendly and great service. I eat there once a week. read more

Love this place! The sushi is great but so is the rest of their food. Wonderful vegetarian options - I recommend the sweet potato sushi roll and their tofu stir fries. I took one star off because the place itself is a little run down and several times the tables have been slightly sticky but the food is five star. read more

We decided to try this place after reading all the good Yelp reviews. We ordered the 3 roll lunch special: salmon and avocado, spicy tuna, and eel rolls for $9.99. Unfortunately, there was very little fish in the rolls, the spicy tuna roll was bland, and the seaweed was a little soggy. The soup and salad that came with the meal was average. Would probably order something different if we came again. read more

My go to sushi joint on my side of town. I love this place. The spicey sushi combo is an awesome deal! Sushi is always fresh and beautifully made. Not a lot of places serve authentic Raman like Sappora does! Easy to miss tucked in next to Kinkos but well worth the stop. read more

If you like great sushi and pretty much anything else in asian food this place is the jam. Lunch special is a ridiculous amount of food. Ive ate here around 1500 times in the past 12 years and never had a bad meal and always some fully asian dudes in suits in there so its gotta be legit. read more

I had a horrible experience tonight. I came in at 6:30 was seated immediately but thirty minutes later and still no service. Our family was walked by many times and never once asked to be helped. I have been a loyal customer over the years however, this experience will stay with me for a while and determine whether my family returns. read more

Not only is the food delicious with great prices, but they have genuine customer service. I used to take a friend of mine that was deaf/blind with multiple cognitive impairments, and they would make sure to leave the wasabi off and all kinds of small gestures. Great people! read more

Glad to find a non steak house Japanese restaurant in the area. They offer variety of Japanese from Ramen to Bento box. I can't say they are authentic but they definitely stand out from other Japanese restaurants within the area. Had Nagasaki Champon and sushi for lunch. They were not the best but definitely hit the spot. read more

I love this restaurant. They have a great sushi special (three large rolls for $9.99 or two rolls for $6.99). Plus, it includes soup and salad. Their sushi fresh and delicious, and you can't beat this special price. I eat there at least once a week. Their Korean and other Japanese entrees are delicious as well, and their menu is extensive without being overwhelming. Plus, they are so nice and make you feel welcome! read more

No. Just don't. I was SO optimistic. I've driven past this place and swore I'd never go until I read their positive Yelp reviews... I don't know if I blame Yelp or this "fusion" crap for this urge to vomit atm. I went with the highly recommended lunch special, 2 rolls, soup, salad. My friend had a California roll, Tuna sashimi "appetizer" (it was the last thing to arrive at the table) and Tonkotsu "meat based" ramen. The salad was a few torn pieces of iceburg w/shredded carrots, which is ok because I'm usually in it for the dressing (bleh) I gave the miso to my friend, who proceeded to dump soy sauce in it (maybe lacking flavor?) Then came the Ramen. Topped with an overly cooked hard boiled egg (green around the yolk) it was swimming in murky brown broth, did they put cream in it? I don't know how you get it to look that way. We were told the sashimi would be out in a minute and we're left with no dishes for soy/wasabi mix so we waited...when the $10 sashimi appetizer arrived I asked for a soy sauce dish, the waiter turned to the dirty table beside us to get soy dishes (gross) they weren't even upside down (I guess that's how they set them on a clean table)... I compared my "lunch special" Cali roll to my friends and it had little to no avocado and TONS of rice. It's really my fault. I went against my gut feeling. If you like sushi don't waste your time/money/or evening because you're vomiting. read more

I just moved to the area, and based on all the great reviews, decided to give this place a try. I left the restaurant feeling very confused as to why this place had such good ratings. If you think they have great sushi, you are missing out [by far] on actual great sushi. They seemed over priced and served less food than the sushi places in Central Florida that we were used to. We actually left the place feeling hungry. Service was OK; the server didn't seem to care much (and there were only 2 other tables in the restaurant) and only came by to take the order, drop off food, then drop off the check. The restaurant seemed a little run down inside, but generally clean. I would consider going back to try any of their non-Japanese dishes, but I'll never waste my money buying sushi from them again. read more

I have been going to Sapporo for years. Easily the best sushi in the area. Friendly staff and orders are completed quickly. I have never had sushi order that was anything but amazing. The atmosphere is laid back - not stuffy. Will continue to frequent this establishment. read more

I live right down the road from this place so it's become my go to sushi place. The atmosphere is pleasant and the food and staff are always nice. It's not on the menu but if you ask politely the chef will gladly throw together some delicious Onigiri. It's nice to be near a restaurant that is both good to eat at and easy on your wallet. read more

We waited 20 minutes to get water and another 20 minutes with no food before we walked out. I mean, I know things get busy, but this was ridiculous. We've been going there for a long time and know what to expect. We never even got the soup and salad that are usually served within 2 minutes of sitting down. The dagger to my hungry soul was that we were never even acknowledged - no "sorry guys, we're just a bit behind". Just nothing. It was pretty infuriating. I hope this was just a one-off type experience. But maybe hiring more staff is a good idea. read more

We went for dinner on their opening night at the new location on Nashville Pike. Food was absolutely excellent, my family and I will definitely return again. As it was the first night, the service was slow, but the staff were all very friendly and made up for their confusion. It's nice to have an option for Korean and Japanese food in Gallatin and I recommend everyone go here. read more

When we arrived for our reservation, we were promptly seated at our table. Our quickly waiter came by to grab our drink orders and give us food recommendations. I had the peach soda to drink. it came in its original bottle and they served it with a small cup I thought was super cute. The real highlight of the show though was the food which I shared with my friend so we could try everything. We started with the Onigiri which came with 3 varieties: Yak (grilled rice and roe), snow crab (with avocado and cucumber), and Japanese curry (vegetable). These were so delicious and my favorite was the Yak. The grilled rice gave the onigiri a nice smoky flavor that was warm and very satisfying. Next, we had the Curry Rice which was composed of Japanese curry gravy, chicken katsu, and steamed rice. Of the 3 dishes we had, this was probably my least favorite, but it was still quite good and hearty; I just thought the other dishes were better. My second favorite dish was the Chilled Curry Udon which came with udon, chilled curry sauce, curry crisp, grilled summer squash and rapini. This was super refreshing and exactly what you would want for a hot summer day. The flavors blended so well together and made for a delightful dish. Las, was the Creamy Bacon Udon which was my favorite of the 3. This was made with fresh udon, creamy white miso sauce, bacon, corn, egg, tempura flakes, and nori. It was similar to a carbonara but was even better than what I expected. The dish was creamy and rich with a touch of saltiness from the bacon and a sweetness from the corn. It was a well crafted dish and I'm so glad I got it! Overall, such a great experience here and I cannot wait to come back!

They are extremely generous with their sushi! 8 pc. Alaskan roll for 5 dollars and exceptional service. The sushi was pristine and fresh. Much better than expected. Huge chunks of salmon in the Alaskan roll. Bibimbop was amazing.
