It took a while to get our food, but it was worth the wait. Our server was friendly and helpful. They have limited seats both inside and out. There weren't that many people when we came, i guess, because we came in the afternoon right before they were going to close. I can only imagine how it must be like when they re-open in the evening. This charming, family-run spot is worth a visit. There are all of five tables, so diners get great service. When we walked in, the owner's teenage children (one of whom later helped serve our meal) were eating at one table, and the owner joined them for a quick bite when his son was done eating. The chef, who can be seen at work, is right out of Central Casting. We had an artichoke appetizer and the beef carpaccio with balsamic vinegar, both of which were excellent. For our mains, I had the gnocchi with tomatoes and mozzarella, which was outshined by my husband's lasagna, which he said was his best meal of the trip. We were enticed in by the music and inviting waiter at the door... service and food was good until we wanted the bill. Should have taken cue by annoyed looking other patron waiting for bill as we sat down. Wondering why he was so angry looking. After dinner/dessert...we asked waiter for bill and signalled him at least 5 times, he acknowledged us but continued to do other things and serve new guests and others. We finally started to leave and had to ask another either owner or manager eventually and he was slow and rude as well. Took 45 minutes in the end to get out of the restaurant after we had finished everything. Clearly they were trying to make the place look busy and get other tourists in and trapped too. Restaurant is tiny.. Saw them move 3 patrons to different tables while we were there. Left sour taste in our mouth for our last night in Rome. Stay away. Don't be drawn in. Very pushy. I was looking for an authentic pasta to enjoy our first night in Rome. We were drawn in by a guy standing on the corner recommending the place. My wife and I enjoyed our time as the staff were very friendly. The pianist was great and added to the ambiance. The food was decent. My wife ordered the lasagna and I ordered a spaghetti pasta with fish. We didn't get what we ordered as they were out of lasagna and spaghetti. We both got fettuccine pasta, a little undercooked from what we are use to but nonetheless we enjoyed it. Oh, we also enjoyed the bruschetta! My husband and I came here for dinner on our first night in Rome. We literally just left this place and feel totally mislead- kicking ourselves for not making a reservation earlier/researching more dinner options. Immediately when we walked up to the restaurant one guy was selling us on coming in, after we told him we made a reservation for 8pm he took us to the back, and cleared off his clipboard and wallet that was on our table. There were so many things that happened that were red flags- like him forcing a 60 euro bottle of wine from the start... didn't seem so bad at first, but when he brought out a slab of jelly and 8 slices of shitty cheese on a wooden board calling it a cheese platter it became questionable... we never even formally ordered it either! When we were discussing getting it, the waiter ended up being at our table opening the wine and he goes "that would go great with your wine" not mentioning anything about ordering it! The lasagna was microwaveable for sure and the spaghetti was garbage and had legit bacon bites on it. After being in Sorrento, then Tuscany, Florence and then coming to this garbage it's like we knew we were getting screwed- not a thing was authentic, and the waiters were sketchy to say the least. My husband and I were going to spilt this chicken dish as our main course and were so turned off by the experience we just wanted to pay and get out- told the guy we wanted the chicken to go. Picture attached of our to go "saltimbocca di pollo" vs the google image just to see what actual saltimbocca di pollo is suppose to look like. Didn't know where to eat our last night in Rome. Walked from our Marriott hotel around the block. We heard the piano music and was invited in by a gentleman who persuaded us to try his restaurant. Well, the food was excellent. My husband got the mushroom ravioli with a great tasting sauce and I got the pasta with olive oil, garlic and pepper. Cooked to perfection. Ordered the house red wine which was perfect with our meal. Dessert was a light and fluffy cheesecake with a chocolate design and cappuccino. As the piano music played we ate. I ordered the gnocchi sorrentina and I was in potato pasta heaven! My friend ordered ziti bolognese (with gluten) which looked and smelled delicious, and she confirmed it to be so. Fantastic place for dinner. Quiet street and incredibly fresh food. My husband had the fresh gnocchi with mozzarella in a light tomato sauce. I picked out my fish and it was cooked to perfection, the grilled vegetables were a perfect addition. The waiter was absolutely wonderful as was the owner. TOURIST TRAP. Visiting this place is the equivalent of 'Italian Day' at your High School cafeteria. It is our fault, we ignored MULTIPLE red flags between locating the restaurant and paying for our bill. 1) Owner was pushy but had used car salesman charm that helped overshadow what was really happening, or at least led us to give him the benefit of the doubt. 1a) He moved very fast, capitalizing on tourists "i'm in italy" excitement before we actually ordered anything, we had the 2nd most expensive bottle on the menu and a cheese plate...based on a sort of 'oh you'll love this' sort of interaction. 2) Wine was acceptable, but was put in a DIRTY wine craffe. Appeared to be dirty (like crusted pasta sauce maybe?) on the outside, but dirty is dirty. 2a) Interestingly enough, the owner hardly spoke to us once he had us on the hook for $60 bottle of wine and $12 appetizer (50% of our total bill) 2b) Bread was potentially day old. Certainly not made in-house and by far the stalest we've had in our 10 days traveling Italy 3) Cheese plate was laughable in presentation, but cheese is often 6 to 1/2 dozen so it slid by with a shoulder shrug 4) Lasagna was legitimately microwaved. Sauce was fake..like Prego or Ragu brands. My wife said It tasted EXACTLY like frozen lasagna from Red Baron brand in the USA. Not a bad frozen lasagna when you're in college but what Italian would ever serve something like this 5) Parmesan cheese was powdery garbage, on par with Kraft brand. Not exaggerating. 6) The other pasta dish had unidentifiable (bacon bits?) meat in it and was just very odd At this point My wife and I bailed on the whole thing...asked for our 'secondi' meal to-go and planned to give it to someone in need on the way back to hotel, but the bag leaked and we decided to throw it out. We are wrapping up an incredible trip that included the Amalfi Coast, Florence and Tuscany and included some out-of-this-world food. This place is the worst meal we've had in Italy (and we ate a burger in the Rome train station, mind you) Stay away. They'll lure you in, distract you with fast talk and a loud piano, feed you low to mid grade food and send you on your way I wrote this review because the reviews out there are clearly from tourists who are used to flavorless USA garbage and this is on par with that. The reason you come here is the ambiance. We sent an email to grab a reservation and the owner greeted us by name when we arrive. Coming here you truly feel special. They were so nice to us throughout the whole meal. The owner is one of the waiters, his daughter the server and his wife the cook. I loved to see how enjoyed he was when he served us. When he isn't serving he jumped on the piano to play some lovely tunes. I saw one review said it was loud but it wasn't. Plus he only is doing it from time to time do enjoy while it is on and talk when he is not playing. We ordered several things. The first was the meat and cheese plate. It was extremely robust. When he first brought out a plate I was a little let down by the size but then it was followed by a plate of roccata, veggies, bread, and more. Well worth the 15 euros we paid. We ordered the Gnocchi for a shared plate. This was the best part of the entree. I feel like one suggestion would be stick to pasta. We also had the chicken scallops and the fish of the day. Both were well cooked but honestly didnt compare to how we like the gnocchi. The table next to us also loved their pasta dishes. Had the Tiramisu for dessert and it was perfect. I haven't had a huge amount of tiramisu but this one was wonderful. They even dropped off a quick shot of lemoncello, no idea if it was for our honeymoon or if everyone gets its Overall it was a great meal. Also seeing a 15 euro bottle of chianti in a restaurant is never a bad thing. Come here because it isn't expensive and you will feel loved when you enter. It will be a good meal. read more

This was recommended to us by the the concierge at our nearby hotel, and Yelp has 4.5 stars...but there were some reviews that said stay away...we should have listened. Mostly empty when we arrived, 2nd clue. Tried to push an upgraded wine, once we decided on one, they brought us a different one than what we ordered...then just sloshed it into our wine glass without letting us taste it first. The waiter was annoyed that we didn't order the special, or desert at the en d. Brought us bread but no plate for it, had to ask for a plate and olive oil which appeared to be an inconvenience for the waiter. Lastly, I ordered the grilled calamari, which was subpar at best but when it arrived he poured olive oil all over it without asking if I wanted olive oil then immediately took the oil away and set it on the floor. I ordered the fettuccine with mushrooms and shaved truffles and a few minutes after I began eating our waiter came over with what i think was truffle oil and poured it on my pasta, grabbed my fork and stirred it, then smiled and walked off. We started walking back toward our hotel and heard live music down the street. We figured we would check it out. The place was full so we had to wait a bit. It it was worth it. I decided to check out this restaurant based on the high reviews on multiple spots. I made a reservation for 2 on thefork, assuming they would be busy, and headed over. When we arrived, we had to wait for a table, despite there being multiple open tables. Once seated, my sister and I were handed menus. We ordered and were talked up to order fresh pasta. We assumed this would be better and we were not disappointed. The food was amazing. However, the service was terrible. Once we had our menus, we were ignored until the two servers stopped arguing in front of all the guests. Two other groups came in after us and were fawned over by the servers (fish and lobsters brought out, wine samples, etc.). In the middle of the meal, we were asked to move tables to make room for a larger group that was outside perusing the menu. We moved because we felt like we didn't have a choice as the servers began moving tables and grabbing our plates and wine. The table they moved us to was covered in silverware, wine bottles, and a cheese platter (that may have been from another table). They didn't take the time to clean the table before they asked to move us or moved our food on to the table. They cleaned most of the stuff off our table and then proceeded to give their attention to the other table while we uncomfortably tried to finish our food and wine. We hadn't yet finished when one of the servers was outside talking to a couple looking at the menu, asking how long the wait might be. He looked over his shoulder at our table and said it'd only be a few minutes. I still hadn't finished my wine. I have never felt so embarrassed in my whole life. When they came and cleared our plates, they asked in passing, half-heartedly, if we wanted dessert. We said yes, because we had planned on ordering it already. Once we finished the dessert, the brought us the check immediately. It was the first time a restaurant in Italy has brought me a check without my asking. They handled our payment and we felt the pressure to leave. We did, because it was clear we were not welcome anymore. The food was great, but the atmosphere and the service was not welcoming at all.
