The food here is grew but when I ordered a chicharron de pollo, I was expecting something totally different. I thought it would be small chunks of deep fried chicken with lime alongside to make up for the fact that it's chicken but I what I received resembled chicken tenders. I WALKED OUT OF HERE!! These ppl are rude. I walked in at 1:45pm while there was no line & ended up standing there for 5 mins waiting to be acknowledged while the server of the line was talking on the phone. After about 5 mins she walks away. So I go over to her & once I finally had her attention, had her come back to what I thought was the start of the line, fix a full plate of food and I walked out. A buddy of mine whose family that has lived on that block for 4 generations says that since this restaurant has opened, the Dominicans in there have been very nasty to black people. We ordered food from here tonight for the family 6/27/2020 My son and daughter had porkchops with rice and beans me and my other daughter had the grilled snapper with plantains and macaroni salad ,my honey had the shrimp monfongo we all enjoyed our food my oldest daughter is special needs and she's a very picky eater but she couldn't let those pork chops go,they must have been good,those grilled snappers was full of bones I had to eat with caution but it was good,I didn't really care for the macaroni salad my honey enjoyed his shrimp monfongo,I would definitely order from here again..I love the fact that the lady at this restaurant called us to let us know what wasn't available and gave us other options,that was very nice of her we ordered through uber eats read more

I've never had such a diverse meal at such a low cost. I ordered the pernil soul food meal. I thought it would come with pernil and yellow rice, but it came with familiar sides I grew up with: greens, mac and cheese, candied yams and cornbread. It felt like an imitation of my family's Thanksgiving meal. Both the pernil and greens were flavorful, but overly salted. The mac and cheese tasted like baked Kraft mac and cheese but I still ate it. The cornbread was really dry--think that White Chicks baby powder joke. The candied yams were my favorite part of the meal, sweet with a nice texture. read more

Definitely the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant in nyc. I ordered a lot of food for me and my boyfriend and we both got the worst food poisoning we've ever had from this food. I looked up reviews on google afterwards and found out we weren't the only people to get food poisoning from this restaurant. I warn everyone to stay away. I almost ended up in the hospital and couldn't eat for days because of this food. It seems like a very unsanitary establishment if this happens often. As usual, when I go to visit schools, I have breakfast in a local eatery. This eat in/take out restaurant is awesome. You're greeted with love as soon as you step in the door. I do prefer fresh mushrooms, however the mushroom egg white omelette was devine. A generous portion of delicious home fries was added to my plate, as well as turkey bacon and toast. I was in the mood for Spanish food and I came across this restaurant on Uber Eats, so I decided to read the reviews on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Placed my order via Yelp and went to pick it up. I ordered the Combo #1 which consisted of a whole chicken, yellow rice, beans, sweet plantains, salad. It came with a free 1 liter soda and a desert of your choice. Let me just say that the food was delicious and full of flavor especially the chicken and the portions were huge. Customer service is lacking. I placed an order via Übereats. They call me 20 minutes later to tell me they do not have the yellow rice with gandules. All they have is white rice. No beans. So I said I'd like to cancel the order. She tells me Über is already there (I guess implying that I should pay for and eat what I did not want - dry white rice). I said but you don't have what I want. She replies "then go ahead and cancel" and hangs up the phone. 1) Why was an item showing up on Übereats if it wasn't available? 2) why wait so long to call me if you knew you didn't have what I ordered? I'm only giving 3 stars because I have a conscious and know how detrimental ratings are for a restaurant to succeed, however, I would be giving 1 if i could bring myself to. How did I go from highly raving about it to never ordering again? Well you'll just have to find out, and it has absolutely nothing to do with customer service (which is pretty great as they do try to work with you if any issues arise, at least in my experience) or delivery time, it's because........ The food is not fresh! I'm sorry to say but they have fell off! At least as far as me and my boyfriend are concerned. The last few times we ordered, and not back to back (as I cook almost all the time) the food is lacking. One of the times we ordered the beans reeked so bad I couldn't eat them as I was afraid I would get sick. Then this time around the beans were okay but the actual stewed chicken, yellow rice with carrot and potato to garnish smelled like it was spoiling but at the very least, definitely 100% not FRESH. That's so cheap to me to gamble with peoples health and money at that! I spent over $20 to barley be able to eat any of it. I cannot in good consciousness stick to a rating that they currently are not upholding. The food was decent and the price just right. I ordered a mini rice and beans with roasted chicken legs. The chicken was well seasoned and tasty, the rice and beans were edible, but not impressive. Ordered on UberEats 2 days in a row. And last time which was a couple of weeks ago, I ordered 2 days in a row then. I always order the Pernil with yellow rice and beans, crab meat empanada, and spinach and cheese empanada. The pork is so delicious and well seasoned. Yesterday and today I tried the soncocho soup. The soup is fantastic.. Its also very filling. It had alot of meat and different types of root veggies yams, carrots, and potatoes in a savory broth. I tried pasteles for the first time today and I am officially hooked. Dont judge me but i also ordered buffalo wings. The wings were just as good. The sauce on the wings were delicious.. I ordered from grub hub and the food came much quicker than the estimated time (which was great). You get a lot of food for the cost. I ordered chicken chunks with rice and beans ( $9.50 ). The chicken was seasoned well but was really dry, the rice was soft & cooked well. I had a whole lot of gravy with a little bit of beans. I wanted soup so bad so I went on Uber eats and saw this restaurant. I order a couple of dishes and once I received everything I was super excited. My first bite Into my stew chicken dish was extremely salty. I gave it a second chance and took another bite where I found myself eating hair; it was disgusting! I threw everything out. Establishments like this made me never want to order food again. Ordered a beef and cheese empanada, a small beef tripe soup, and sancocho with sides. Every item was well packaged and the empanada was crunchy--not at all soggy. My only issue was the overpowering acidic taste of the beef tripe soup, sancocho, and the empanada filling. I don't know if it's preservative being used or they just go heavy on lemon/lime juice but it definitely overpowers all the other great flavors that are supposed to be there. read more
