Being treated to Chuckanut Manor is starting to be a tradition for me. This is my second time to…read morethis wonderful place. The first was my birthday last year, chosen by a friend (I'd never heard of it). This year I was asked where I wanted to go. I did not hesitate to say here! I couldn't be anything other than delighted in my decision--from the pleasantness inside, the wonderful view from our window, the delightful staff and the incredible food and drinks, this place is wonderful. Lucky me that my birthday was on a Wednesday so I could be totally influenced to have oysters-on-the-half shell due to a generous Wednesday night special. I do love raw oysters--and these were so tiny and briny and so incredibly good, I could have eaten five dozen! (I am kicking myself for not finding out what kind they were, but no matter. I would be happy with any they are serving here, I am sure.) I had already planned on having the Oysters Rockefeller (known here as Manor Rockefeller), and so, despite having just downed some oysters, I went ahead anyway and am glad I did! They were wonderful. And there was no real reason for me to pause for a moment in my decision, having already had oysters, because these were soooooo different. It was almost like eating a delicious oyster casserole in a shell. The Mediterranean Mussels were wonderful! (Notice, I was having a dinner of appetizers...) The broth they came in was beautiful (and drinkable, if one were so inclined). I loved the surprising tastiness of the Mama Lil's Peppers swimming around in it. At first I wondered if they would be too hot and compete with the flavor--overwhelming it--but no! Not at all. They were a perfect and flavorful touch. Absolutely wonderful. (And having said that, I know that "pepper heat" is an individual thing--I can tolerate a goodly amount, fyi--I just didn't taste these as hot at all.) Our server, Drew, was immensely helpful (and always charming!) He paired our food with a delicious wine. I guess we would assign my bowl of clam chowder to the dessert category--very thick and creamy--along with a lovely after-dinner cocktail, made by the wonderful and delightful bartender, Sherry. She made me a lovely mocktail to start--I asked Drew to have the bartender just make something up on a whim. It was pretty, colorful and delish with what in it, I have no idea. But, not only was it delectable, it was a vision! All festive and fuchsia, with a "bartender's cherry," and a hot pink umbrella. When I learned Sherry made it, I was so happy because I remembered her from last year--very skilled and very fun to chat with. A wonderful birthday--I highly recommend the Manor.

The goal was fresh oysters and we had passed the ones on the side of the road with little parking and landed here. Cute, clean, and nicely decorated. The views are really nice. The staff are great! Friendly and know the menu. The cod with crusted pesto was okay. The pesto was suppose to be crusted and was more of a sauce. Flavor was okay but there was a tomato sauce on the bottom. The two sauces didn't work together. The fish could have been cooked more too. A little on the raw side. The ceviche was tasty. The only advice there is cut the cucumbers and dice the jalapeños to match the size of the fish pieces. Fresh Oysters are not on the menu!! We were super disappointed because that's why we stopped! After we ordered other stuff I asked "do you have fresh oysters" and they said yes! You have to ask "by request only." We had 6 of the small oysters which were decent enough. The red sauce was a shrimp cocktail sauce which is not good for this dish. The horseradish was good! Had a kick! I love the spot and I am sure the locals love it! I can see why.

We started with the sourdough bread paired with the spiced herb olive oil, and also added the tomato basil dip. Both were absolutely delicious and complemented the bread perfectly. For our entrée, we split the cod and chips, which was the perfect amount of food for two and cooked beautifully. The outdoor patio created a great atmosphere, and the service was exceptional from start to finish. We'll definitely be back--even if it means making the drive all the way from Kirkland, Seattle!

This is a classic microaggression called "table dumping" - steering non-white guests to less visible, less desirable sections. We were not treated equally. We had a reservation, we were polite, and we asked multiple times before a manager finally relented. We hope your host staff is trained to seat all reservations equitably, not based on appearance. ·We were the only Asian women in the restaurant, and it was impossible not to notice the stark difference in how we were seated versus every other guest.

You arrive at…read morewhat looks, like an abandoned train yard, cross the tracks, and suddenly.....there it is. The Taylor Shellfish Samish Oyster Bar. It's not a restaurant in the traditional sense; it's more of a landscape. We had dozens of fresh west coast oysters, smoked oysters, shrimp, crab, beer, and....a view that made this an unforgettable experience. If you're looking for a place that celebrates the food rather than the performance, this is it. Go for the oysters, stay for the silence, and leave knowing exactly where your food came from. Food (5/5): Everything was outstanding. I'm not even a fan of smoked oysters but these were prepared in a way that made them truly amazing. Customer Service (4.5/5): The staff were friendly and readily available. Price (Est. $60/person): It is easy to lose track of the final bill when the food is this good and you keep the orders coming, but expect to spend around $60 per person. Decor/View (4.5/5): The outdoor setting is perfect, especially on a clear nice day, providing an unmatched view of the water.

There's no shade, I think I could see people getting sunburnt in the hour that I was there. I ordered a dozen shucker's choice oysters and received an assortment of 3 different types. It's pretty amazing the difference in taste across the different oysters. They were great! Super fresh and served with a couple wedges of lemon and mignonette. A little different than the way they're served on the opposite coast (typically lemon, cocktail sauce, horseradish, and mignonette. Several of the oysters were pretty large and took some chewing to get through. I paired them with a nice glass of gruner veltliner. Great spot, I'd definitely return.
