This is the new location for Bobcat Bite. Please note, it is inside a hotel. Went here at noon on 4-8-16, with two co-workers. Our waitress said this was the #1 burger in New Mexico, and the #5 burger in the United States. That was a LOT of expectation for us. I really loved this 10 ounce cheeseburger. It was packed inside, but we were seated in five minutes. I ordered a medium well burger with fries. Even though the place was overflowing with customers, we got our burgers within ten minutes. It was a delicious burger. I would say it was a tad dry, and I would recommend medium, but other than that a great burger. The bun was light and airy and the waitress told us they are baked there daily. The server came by at least three times to refill drinks. I highly recommend that someone try it and see if it is the #1 burger in New Mexico. This is a hard claim to verify as Buckhorn and Owl make some mean burgers, but I would definitely place it in my top five statewide. See for yourselves. read more

Upon hearing great things about Santa Fe Bite, I made my way over to the establishment with my young child. Immediately upon entering the restaurant I observed a sign posted at the hostess station which communicated something to the effect of, prices on the menu only available to patrons paying with cash. As an experienced patron of many dine-in restaurants, I've never observed any menu printed to reflect prices respective exclusively to cash purchases, unless of course I'm visiting a food truck or an establishment which only accepts cash. My curiosity, to which I am entitled as a patron of the restaurant, prompted me to inquire about pricing on the menu. (It is imperative that I share, my finances bare no relevance to my question regarding menu prices, however, the principle of the matter was the basis of my inquiry.) In good spirits, I mentioned to the hostess that it was my first time visiting the restaurant and inquired about menu prices regarding cash purchases vs. debit/credit card purchases. My inquiry included asking if cash vs. card prices were printed on the menu. The hostess, a dark haired, older woman with glasses, was extremely cold, and rude, unappreciative of my question. The hostess told me that card prices were not printed on the menu. I asked the hostess what the difference in price might be, to which she responded that she wasn't sure and thought it might be something like 2%. My child and I decided to dine in, and we're excited about the experience, looking forward to a juicy burger. The hostess walked us to a table literally threw a pack of crayons at my child, mentioned the soup of the day, which was something I have never heard of. I communicated to the hostess a question regarding what the soup of the day was, and with her back half turned to me she mentioned Mexican meatballs in an extremely rude and dismissive fashion, and stormed off. Never in my life have I been treated so coldly, rudely, and unwelcome by any hostess in all of Santa Fe, or in all of my life for that matter. After sitting down for a few minutes, I thought to myself, do my child and I really deserve to be treated this way? I answered myself, and looked at my child. I did not want my child to experience the treatment we endured by the hostess and her strong negative energy. My child and I got up and walked out of the restaurant. The disappointment I felt that Tuesday evening was immeasurable. Santa Fe is an amazing city with countless hostess/servers who are down to Earth, hospitable, and above all else, warm, kind, and welcoming; the polar opposite of what the hostess at Santa Fe Bite delivered during our visit. I felt inclined to contact a manager and comment on the treatment my child and I endured. The manager was very kind and encouraged me to visit the restaurant on any day of the week but a Tuesday, when the hostess we were abused by typically works. None of us on this planet are exempt from bad days, nor are we exempt from going through challenges in life. However, it is critical that even on our worst days, if we work in the service industry, we must strive to deliver kindness, a welcoming demeanor, professionalism, and positive energy. My experience at Santa Fe Bite was far from what I expected, and has left a bitter taste in my mouth. The likelihood of me visiting the restaurant anytime soon is slim to none. Perhaps the hostess is working a part-time job once a week, and may be going through something in her personal life, but that is not something that anyone visiting Santa Fe Bite should lay victim to. I've heard the food is good, but the service and ambiance witnessed by my child and I felt like modern day racism. Santa Fe Bite owners, PLEASE consider a hospitality and customer service training for your staff, specifically the hostess with the glasses who works on Tuesday nights, and encourage the importance of positive vibrations and positive energy. Bro J accompanied Ms T and me to Santa Fe bite. Ms T and I had been there about two years ago and did not think it quite lived up to our memories of the old Bobcat Bite. However, I was glad to return and try it again. I went with the 6 oz burger. It was excellent, juicy and perfectly done per my medium rare order. I had green chile and cheese on mine as did Bro J. This was a solid four stars for me. It could be a little better if they grilled salt and pepper in and could get a little more flat top sear on it. Never-the-less I hope we are back to have one again. They served the same marinated style slaw with a sweet and tangy dressing and plenty of celery seed. So disappointing compared to the old location. My biggest complaint is that they are inconsistent with how the burgers are cooked. If I order medium I don't want it raw. I've never gotten a burger there that was cooked to my order. It's unfortunate because I really wanted to like it after they moved but after several attempts gave up. It's not just that if I order a medium burger that it comes out raw. Sometimes they're burnt. And never the way I've ordered it. As I said. Very inconsistent. I also find the green chiles are not hot like they used to be. I'm sure they've done that Intentionally to appease the tourists. Anyway. That's a mistake. Solid 4 a star burger. Great place to go when that burger jones grabs you! My only concern was the food handlers and server assistants were wearing these industrial blue latex gloves. Here's the problem. Although it's an attempt to present. "Cleaner" perception of handling food etc, it's not. What happens is that the gloves get dirty and they end up touching multiple things like, clearing a table by reaching finger first into a used water glass then seconds later that same person is resetting the table. Did they change gloves?? Nope. That's concerning... Outside of that...it you maintain the mantra "parts per million - parts per million" I guess one will survive. ;) read more

Carnitas Taco plate: 2 well filled tacos, corn tortilla is slightly dried so it doesn't fall apart. Pork was juicy and the two Salas really enhanced the flavor. Rice was just steamed white rice with corn but if you pour the spicy charo beans over it it was great. Beans has a thick broth and contained beans (dahhh), chicarones, hotdog, onion slivers and bacon. So worth a second trip. read more

Well, I decided to eat here because I saw a survey that said one of the best places to have a burger in New Mexico. Since the restaurant is right up the street from my house, I figured I'd swing in and have a burger and a beer. Honestly, a little disappointing. Service was very slow and not overly nice.. so the burger itself was amazing cooked perfect fixings were super fresh. However, the role was a little bit over toasted so a little hard. The burgers usually come with homemade chips, which were amazing but I was looking for something different and ordered onion rings, honestly, quite expensive and terrible.. I'm willing to give you another shot, but I definitely will not be ordering onion rings again, and hopefully the bun isn't over toast next time. read more

Yes, it isn't the original bobcat bite...when you traveled on Old Las Vegas Hwy, you were probably drooling all the way to the place. Coming here to get a birthday burger, well it was my birthday when we came it was very open, much better than bobcat and much less of a wait. You hear of the myth that was bobcat bite and you show it through the burger. The Green Chile burger is what they tell you: Spicy, cheesy, juicy and satisfying. Got the green chili burger togo. Order was ready on time/when I got there and only about 15 minutes after I called. Server or hostess who ran my card was polite and helped me very soon after walking in the door. Burger was really delicious but chip flavor was a little lack luster. Santa Fe Bite takes the opposite approach. The chile, while plenty spicy, is modestly portioned out, and the downer choice on the cheese -- I think it was Monterey Jack, not sure, pretty boring -- didn't slip or slide, it just held. The majesty of this burger was the ten ounces of beef that remained ten ounces after cooking. You know how that goes? Fats and juices drain from the beef and you end up with a thin dry wanna-be burger? Not here. This rounder was massive, the flavor (boneless chuck and sirloin) was outstanding, plenty of juice ooze drained into the bottom bun, I needed to breathe heavily between bites, and I was pretty much done with food for the rest of the day -- after an early lunch. Happy Father's Day to me, I checked this place off my list of Must Try NM burgers, and you should, too. Quick note: Santa Fe prices, about $15 for this masterpiece. The last time I ate there the service was incredibly awful. I was completely ignored until I got drastically sick from the fried chicken. I let one of the staff know I felt sick. I was nauseous and quickly walked outside getting ready to barf as the bathroom did not seem appealing. Finally my waiter took an interest in me as he assumed I was leaving to avoid the bill. They had a little line for getting on a list to be seated, but the hostess seemed to be frazzled and it was slow going. This was our first meal in Santa Fe on a mother/daughter spa weekend. We came for the legendary burgers and left satisfied and happy. We both had the green chile bacon cheeseburger (comes in 6 or 10 oz.--we stuck with the smaller portion), served with chips. Truly, it was one of the best burgers I've had. Cooked to the requested temperature and topped with the perfect combination of chile, cheese and bacon, it lived up to its hype. This place is so tasty with great service!Definitely one of the top five burgers I've ever eaten. We had the green chili Cheeseburgers, chili fries Christmas style and a steak sandwich. All were superb. The chili fries were amazing. The green and red sauces paired well and the fries were perfect. If I had to choose a sauce the green was better than the red but both were great with the perfect amount of spiciness. The Steak sandwich was juicy with a perfect bun. The highlight of course were the green chili cheeseburgers. We had 8 people in our group and everyone loved them. I opted for a medium cooked 10 oz patty and it was cooked to perfection.The burgers were big, juicy and flavorful and the green chili and white cheese on top were delicious with the perfect amount of spiciness. Even the chips and fries that came with the burgers were good. I must warn though prices are high for what is essentialy a burger stand. A greenchili Cheeseburger costs $13 with a side of chips or $1 more if you sub french fries. You get what you pay for and if you dont mind the cost the burgers are quite worthy. Very disappointing! Ordered the special bison burger. First time the outside was burned and overcooked on the inside. They brought a new one, this time the outside was still burned, then raw on the inside. The chips were flavorless. The manager took half off the burger, but never came back to the table after the failed second attempt. The prices are too high for the quality of food served. This is the first time I've been to Santa Fe Bite after going to the Bobcat Bite years ago out on the old highway to Las Vegas that parallels I-25. Santa Fe Bite is quite a bit more civilized than the old location but there are still touches from the old place in all the travel related signs. It's a very comfortable restaurant with lots of seating inside and out. In homage to the old Bobcat Bite, I had to get the green chile cheeseburger. The standard version on the menu is 10 oz. but I didn't want that much food so I ordered the 6 oz. burger and added green chile and cheese. I ordered it medium rare. It was cooked perfectly, served on a nice brioche bun and tasted great. The chile had a good bite but not overly spicy. Rather than go with the default homemade potato chips, I opted for French fries. That was a mistake. The fries were not hot or crisp at all. Someone else at our table got the chips and they were great. Fresh, hot and crispy. My advice - go with the homemade chips. They're better and don't cost a $1 extra like the fries. The service was great. Very friendly and attentive. One of our party had some special dietary needs, which they accommodated. She had the BLT, which was huge with a mountain of bacon. Unfortunately, the bacon was not cooked crispy to her satisfaction. But she did have the excellent chips. All in all, a very nice lunch at Santa Fe Bite. read more
