We have stopped at Frankies in Pecos a number of times since we go to NM twice a year. They serve breakfast only until 12 noon and other meals after 12 noon along with offering breakfast for those that want that. It is located in a unique historic building. In warmer weather, they have patio seating and service. We have always enjoyed our food there and found the service good. We love this place. It is just a short drive to Glorieta and Santa Fe. read more

I LOVE FRANKIES! first off, super charming historic building. Second, GREAT service. Third, dependably good! This was my first time and I feel WRONG for not having known about Frankies years ago. You have to try Frankie's if your in Pecos. This was great authentic New Mexican food. The carnitas plate was soooo good. My daughter had the French toast and came with egg and bacon and fruit and my husband had the beef enchiladas. The service was good and food came out fast! Absolutely charming breakfast and lunch place on the way to Pecos National Park, which is beautiful in itself. My husband had the pancakes with bacon and eggs. He was extremely happy. I had the carb free breakfast, which was a delicious omelette with a superb chile verde salsa. Ooooh, that salsa was so very, very G-O-O-D!!! Customer service was warm and efficient. The decor inside was warm, inviting, and historic. The service was excellent. We ordered the club wrap that was flavorful and the sweet potato fries were perfectly crisped. To top it off the prices here were affordable. After we ate we chatted a little bit with one of the owners on the porch. He was warm and engaging. I love this place and will be back again. Walking into Frankie's, you'll be treated like an old friend or a member of the family. Food and service are both exceptionally good and will give you an experience in the best of New Mexico cuisine. It's not fine dining, but the menu choices will give you a very quick introduction into the dishes you will see across New Mexico, not the least of which is the ubiquitous Hatch chili pepper. Oh my God, this is the quintessential New Mexican roadhouse right out of a Quentin Tarantino movie, and that is your impression when you first pull up. But fear not, the interior perpetuates this illusion. From the mounted deer above the fire place hearth that greets you upon entering, to the giant wooden timbers that frame everything including the vaulted ceiling in the main dining room. I stopped by here yesterday with my wife for lunch. We had been in Pecos NHP for the morning and were back in Pecos around lunch time and so decided to find a place. We had happened to see Frankie's on the way in and so that's where we stopped. Even though the outside of this place doesn't look like much, the inside is actually quite nice. The main dining area is two stories high with lots of exposed logs. It has a bunch of mounted animals, some saddles, wagon wheel chandeliers and a fire place. Due to all of that it almost feels like a hunting lodge. For lunch on this day I decided to go with the Frankie's Burrito. The menu describes it as lean roast beef or chicken served with cheese & pinto beans served in a giant tortilla and smothered in green or red chile sauce. I decided on having the chicken instead of the beef and went Christmas for my sauces. Whenever the burrito came out it looked massive and came with a small side of luttuce, tomatoes and sour cream. Since all that was inside was the chicken and the beans that meant for a lot of chicken and beans. While they were both pretty good, I feel like it could have used something else although I couldn't tell you what that something else is. Sauce wise, neither was terribly spicy here which was good for my wife. I strongly preferred the green sauce to the red sauce due to it having a better flavor in my opinion. The bottom line for me is that I would come back here again in the future. I thought that the food was pretty good and that our servers were very nice. read more

We had lunch at Frankie's at the Cassanova, a cute little restaurant in Pecos, NM, on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024. Our food was good as was the service. My husband had chicken nachos which he really enjoyed. We ate at Frankie's again on Saturday, Oct. 19 because it was good before, and really there was not much else to choose from. Since my husband's nachos were so good on Thursday, two of us ordered them this time but we got burned nachos, and the manager was a rude bully. He said my cheese nachos were burned because there was nothing else but cheese on them and the oven was TOO HOT for that. (So, take them out sooner!) No apology - it was MY fault for ordering just cheese nachos with nothing else. Wait...what?! There was a little dried burned up cheese on burnt chips. He should have told us up front if they couldn't do cheese nachos, which one can get just about anywhere in the US. Any kid can make them! The other plate was chicken nachos which were good on Thursday, and these DID have other things beside cheese but were still too burned to eat this time. What a rip. So instead of their expensive desserts we went to DairyQueen for some good ice cream. read more

Best food in Pecos! Meals and drinks are served at spaced-apart patio tables, all staff were wearing their masks correctly. (When COVID is over, and we can eat indoors again, the dining room has a lot of character.) Six bucks for a cheeseburger with a lot of good green chile. Crispy hot onion rings. Very good enchilada casserole (your choice of green or red). Also, your choice of red or white wine lol. Free refills on good, strong iced tea. We eat here every time we're in this neck of the woods. Pecos is a tiny village so having a place like this was a great surprise. The exterior and interior were wonderful and really provided the feel of New Mexico. We were there during the pandemic, and the staff was careful to abide by all of the precautions including mandatory masks. It was dinner time so we ordered from the dinner menu. They may have different options for lunch. I ordered the grilled chicken salad and green chile stew. For a little place like this, my hopes weren't too high for the salad. But they outdid themselves. The salad was not only delicious but the presentation looked like something from a high end restaurant in Santa Fe. The green chile stew was excellent as well. We ordered the homemade guacamole, and it was very good. The staff was very attentive to us the entire time. They were also selling fresh eggs and other items, although we didn't need any. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. It was just as good as any restaurant in Santa Fe and with reasonable prices too. If you're staying in the Pecos Wilderness, definitely stop by this place or make a drive back into town one night for some local flavor. read more

We were looking for breakfast around Pecos, New Mexico and came upon Frankie's Casanova. We didn't know what to expect but the decor was inviting. Lovely old pueblo type building. Interior was fresh & clean so we sat down. It was just what we wanted. We had the low carb meals, which were delicious, as was the Breakfast sandwich & breakfast muffin. We had iced lattes, double espresso and hot chocolate. The espresso drinker said it was perfect and the latte drinkers agreed their bevies were good also. I had the hot chocolate and I felt it could have used just a bit more chocolate in the hot chocolate; it was presented beautifully in a good sized mug. (Sorry, forgot to take pics of everything.) After an enjoyable hike at Pecos national park we slipped into Frankie's! Our food was fresh and tasty! We were a little disappointed that they were waiting to renew their liquor license. The iced tea was excellent and freshly brewed so we made it work! The restaurant is so charming inside with hand painted mini murals on the walls, a funny comic drawing above the bar and beautiful Pueblo walls and open beams. Okay, I was able to give Frankie's another chance. This time I called to make sure they were open (if you remember, last time I showed up to a closed Frankie's for a wedding party). Despite a lot of cars in the parking on Friday, there wasn't a lot of people inside or on the patio. Previous pictures had made the place look bigger than it really was, but it was cozy. I liked the old west decor and the country music playing, but wished I would've gotten a chance to know more of the history of the place was (Who was Frankie? Was that the original Frankie's in the old black and white photos?). Sure, it was a long way to drive for lunch, but we'd like to be able to support these small, locally owned businesses when we can. Our waitress was friendly and prices weren't bad. My parents both got the green chile cheeseburgers and a bag of chips for $5.95. Good portion sizes and my dad liked his iced tea. I got the green chile chicken enchilada casserole for $9.95 with beans, tortilla, and fried potatoes. There were a few pieces of chile that had some heat to them and the potatoes had a different season to them (not bad just different) that I couldn't figure out. From what my mom said, the bathrooms were clean and well kept up with. We did some fishing at Monastery Lake afterwards, and overall, it was a nice day. read more

The 2nd time the GCCE had more of a "bite"(heat) & the beans were a bit runnier, but all was still good. Service was a bit lacking the first visit, but better the 2nd time. We were looking for a road trip destination in the mountains...found our new favorite place in New Mexico! We stopped in for a late breakfast/brunch on a Saturday. I picked this place because it was a bit of a drive from where we were staying and it was in the mountains. We sat next to the fireplace and were treated to an amazing meal. Definitely a hidden gem in Pecos! My friends and I were searching for a restaurant in Pecos and happened upon Frankie's. Unsure what to expect, but very hungry and ready to eat we gave it a shot. My friends enjoyed their salads with salmon. I opted for the red chile enchiladas. The food was good and served its purpose. The enchiladas seemed to have been made in a giant pan and then cut whenever someone ordered them. It felt like a home cooked meal and tasted good.
